DM:
I just want to be clear that we are on the same page. Is the total amount of GP I am walking away with after everything for this one 4,935?
---
6,117 (for out of Tier)
+ 50 (Day Job) = 6,167
- 1,200 (replacing donated) = 4,967
- 32 (room and board) = 4,935 Total
---
I just wanted to make sure this is correct before I enter it into Hero Labs and write it down.

Thank you thank you. It was interesting. I had hoped to return and deal with Mad Margaret, Blade 2 Style, but it is what it is.

Thank you for running.

Im out in the field training for my next deploymet though, (the same reason I had asked to push back the special a week earlier when you asked me to run it:) ), so I just have very poor internet at all.

Once the mission is complete, Garinol will nod his head in thanks and respects to the other Pathfinders. This aspect of Ustalav is one he has never really felt at ease with. Especially in these lands, there is too much work to be done to babysit spoiled opera stars.

Once the briefing has been concluded, and the other agents he had worked with say their "Until next time's", Garinol makes his way back out into the swamps. Hopefully he can be a small light in the darkness, and it seems like they might need a helping hand. Besides, the priest had always been interesting in the techniques of different people's arts of healing and divine disciplines. . .

Just wanted to give a head's up. I've finally made it to the field and set up, but now that I'm here, my internet signal is incredibly weak to non-existent. When I originally came to survey the area, I had full signal, but now almost nothing.

This is the first time I've been able to get on, and I will try to be more active now that I'm able to, somewhat, but feel free to bot me as needed. Once I get a change to inform al of my games, I'll start going through and catching up on what's been going on thus far.

Again, apologies for vanishing.

I believe I was going to be giving 2,700gp worth of items to the swampers, because I could utilize my Silver Crusade Boon to essentially get it back for half price. My intent was to literally buy the same exact gear back from whatever gp we got here.

Total list of items given:

potion of cure light wounds (x2) (100)
scroll of lesser restoration (x4) (600)
scroll of remove curse (x2) (700)
scroll of remove disease (x2) (700)
scroll of remove paralysis (x2) (300)
antiplague (3) (150)
antitoxin (2) (100)
bloodblock (2) (50)

Im still crazy busy at woek, but am finally moving to the field tomorrow, and should be able to post more.

I do not have a chance to go through it right now, but I will do as you ask.

As far as the expenditures, Ill need to reverify. I believe that I was going to utilize a Silver Crusade Boon, and did plan on buying back everything I had given. For the purpose of the chronicle sheet, feel free to simply put something like "donated ___gp of medical supplies" rather than list it all out. It was a lot.

And thank you for running.

"May I suggest, before even proceeding, that we search the grounds outside first. I don't want to believe that the Society is at fault, but it would not be prudent to ignore all possibilities. Not when lives might be at stake."

Even if we don't want to spend too much time, Pumpkin and I could quickly walk a circle a few hundred feet out to see if we catch any Dark Folk scents. With the items left in the sack, I would think both of us should have an idea of what to look for.

"I am not sure that is a good idea. If she is behind it, alerting her that we suspect her directly would doom all those that have been taken. We should investgate the lodge without her knowledge, if possible. If we find nothing, then we should speak to her. Who knows what sorts or traps or magical deceptions she might have access to, but she is not the first Pathfinder official I've investigated, and an organization so rife with corruption, doubtful the last."

"If it is not her, perhaps one of the agents or other leaders, and speaking to her might tip them off. It's unlikely that these Dark Folk enter and leave the lodge itself, not without being noticed. They probably have a hidden passage somewhere close. Unless the Society is in on it."

Just to be clear, the Lodge and the Dark Folk underground chamber are two seperate places, connected through a cave in the basement. Im not suggesting going to that cave, only looking into the Lodge and grounds first, and ruling out the VC.

Because Leseige told us they followed the intruders there. Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if we've been sent on a wild goose chase so that someone had time to set the stage for Olivina's murder to take place somewhere in the manor, knowing we'd eventually be led there to happen upon it. Then I suspect as soon as we arrive, the responsible party will just happen to walk in and shout "Aha!" and implicate the Pathfinder Society in the abduction and murder. I suspect it's not Basia, but someone else who knows the lodge. Maybe another noble looking for a political play, maybe the dark folk looking for revenge.

Did we? I'm either missing it or it was in a spoiler not meant for me.

I see the suggestion to go speak with the VC about who might have cause to kidnap her, which we have already done, and an off handed comment that it's more likely to happen at the Lodge than here. But, without knowing that there is a secret entrance to the Darklands there from the previous scenario, why would anyone consider that?

From what I'm seeing, it sounds like Lesseige did see the intruders <that the swampers said came here> and then chased them off. One of them followed them back to their hiding place, which I guess I didn't see as the Lodge, but rather him specifically not telling us where that was. Seems like a very beating around the bush way of saying that. :P

It just feels too metagamy to me. ha ha. But, I guess we have something else to at least try, so I'm game to head there next.

I kind of feel similar. I'm not keen on just leaving and allowing a known Demon/Devil to continue to do their thing, but as far as I can tell, he is innocent of at least this.

I'm not really sure about the swampers. It sort of feels like they where just there to force the party to use resources as this seems fairly combat light so far.

The theater sort of seems tapped out as well, as far as looking for more clues. I'm not certain, OOC, if we missed something at the theater (or the swamps), or if we found everything and have skipped a location or person somehow completely.

The only thing I can think of is the sewers, since we sort of just did that off screen. Perhaps if Zahra will explain what she saw through her magic, describe the room, or other details besides the dark priestess, there is something we missed there? I'm not sure there was any other details like that, just not clear where else to really look.

Well, besides the Lodge, but that seems like a big stretch. Why would we consider going there if no one had played the previous Scenario?

@ DM: feel free to give us a small nudge. :P

It's odd. From what I recall, from what I recall of The Darkest Vengeance, and it has been a while, there had been two Ustalavian Lodges and Venture-Captians; Basia Kalistoff and Skeldon Miregrold.

Basia was Sheldon's cousin or some relation, but viewed him as a rival and did not like what he was doing with his lodge. It's not entirely clear exactly how much of this was an excuse for a power play, but this was only the set up for the scenario, not the focus, per se. We where sent in to basically investigate Venture-Captain Miregrold and "aquire" his research. Miregrold Manor was his personal home, as well as the official Lodge of Karcau. While that might contain small spoilers for that scenario, this is all in the set up, so I'm less concerned about it spoiling things. Once we got there <things happened>.

At the end, Basia assumes control of Miregrold Manor, which is very strange in my opinion, and is what I was referring to by "politics". Pathfinders are sent in to investigate another Venture-Captain (Sheldon), by a rival Venture-Captain (Basia, who has a personal, not professional dislike), who then somehow strips the first of their personal home somehow and sort of rushes the team out This is why I'm not 100% trusting her. (Not saying she is lying or evil, just that there might be ulterior motives at play here). It was also a little strange that beneath Miregrold Manor, there was a secret pathway directly to the Darklands that just seemed to be left wide open, as far as we knew.

I'll explain this in character to the party as well, I just didn't want to state the same things twice, and felt OOC might serve better if something is slightly off.

Less interested in recieving credit than perhaps helping to explain, "It is true, in the past, it was the Pathfinder Society's leadership that had dealings with the dark folk." And you will have to forgive me, this is one of the few scenarios I have played, but not run, and it has been years, so this might not be 100% accurate.

"From what we discovered, in what short time we had, was that the Society had failed to hold up their part of the bargain, whatever that bargain was, and the Darkfolk took it personally. But,. . . there was also politics involved, Pathfinder politics, and in the end, one Venture-Captain had to fall so that another could rise, . . . legitimately. And now, here we are. I doubt it was the swampers. They did not want to help us. They did not exect us."

"The ones who sent us here in the first place, the theater, the swampers, what other leads do we really have? We did not look to hard in thecsewers. Unless, well, there is really only one place that the Darkfolk come from, that I know of. . ." But going back there seems like it should be outside the scope of this scenario.

No, I fully understand. This is exactly why I don't think Shelyn should be Good aligned or have Paladins.
And, this is also exactly why I did that, as the core tenets of my faith say "•I will not abide evil, and will combat it with steel when words are not enough. I do not flinch from my faith, and do not fear embarrassment. My soul cannot be bought for all the stars in the sky." Likewise, straight Paladin code of the deity, not that either of us are Paladins. However, while I wouldn't mind, especially for RP reasons, claiming this site as a bastion of hope for the Silver Crusade or Pathfinder Society, and even spending PP to do so, placing an icon of Sarenrae (or SHELYN!!!) here, in this torture chamber seems, way, way beyond wrong. After the place is cleansed, . . . maybe. If you are okay with us leaving a statement that Shelyn is absolutely ok with the torture and ritual sacrifice to dark gods of people for the sake of art, I shall bow out and allow you to do so. But, I doubt that is what you mean. :P

OOC, I guess I should have been more clear, saying "one would not leave a pretty flower that causes death out in the open for any random passerby to stumble upon and want to have".

Beauty and art are both tools of evil just as much as, if not more than good, and I really do not understand the supposed connection with art and redemption or holiness. Again, speaking OOC here, not in character. The way I view this, in and out of character is, would I leave a trap I spotted, and bypassed there so the next random person to trip and possibly die from when I can choose not to? Not only no, but hell no. Because that would be wrong. Period. Wou7ld I leave an alter to an evil patron intact, when I have the power to destroy it? What possible good can that do? In fact, the more pleasing such an alter appears to be, the more damage it can do. Both short and long term.

Garinol looks at the other priest with confusion, uncertain if he is serious or the punchline went completely over his head. "Of corse we destroy idols dedicated demons, devils, and evil. One would not leave a pretty, but poisonous flower out for others to pick up? Or a deadly, but masterfully crafted weapon for a child to play with? Art is not redemption. Offering another soul another chance, an opportunity to walk a harder road is a gift. It requires someone to stand up to the darkness that surrounds the other like a deep black water, and thrust their ooen hand in, offering those that are blind and drowning a chance to help pick themselves up and see the blackness for what it is."

"Redemption is walking into the night to be with those lost in it's embrace, and showing them that everyone needs others to make it back out, if they want to, not making something that might look appealing, and be used for either helping or harming others. When somethings only purpose is to cause pain, or deception, or madness, that thing needs to be destroyed, so that others will not stumble upon it and harm themselves or others, physically or spiritually."

I enjoy philisophical and religious debates, so am interested if Omar or anyone wants to continue this while we wait to move on. If not, cool, but again, I think this is exactly the thing that makes a group of people thrown together develope bonds of trust and friendship. That doesn't mean you have to all agree.

The book, however, he finds rather interesting. Firstly, a clue as to what might just be waiting for them later in this horrific temple-mansion, but also because of the play on words, "A Beast I am, it is said, lest a Beast I become."

Before moving onwards, Garinol will again cast Magic Circle vs Evil (on Omar) <80 Mins>, as well as Heroism <80 Mins> and Comprehend Languages <80 Mins> on self.
