I've come across this too. I do like 1/2/4 version. It makes more sense to me. But I would also like an official ruling.

Liberty's Edge

I'm back, and I have one more bug for you. When I open 5.4o I get an error saying that a link is missing. It's a local link to your WIP version of this wonderful spreadsheet. Any chance you might be able to resolve that dependency?

Thanks.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, found another bug in 5.4n If you set your Expansion edict to anything above standard and set holiday edict to and anything above none, you will get a #Value! error in cell V50 (Edicts cell of consumption). This one I'm clueless about. Thanks again!

Liberty's Edge

Hey Chem, I see you're still at it and doing a fantastic job! However I came across an interesting bug in my version of the sheet (5.3 F) and just checked and its still in 5.4n (both Excel)

During one of my sessions we noticed that orphanages were giving potion in the magic item slots. After some investigation. We figured out that it was cause we had the buildings tab sorted by loyalty ratio and not alphabetical. When we went back to alphabetical it fixed the issue. I think the problem is that your formulas are referencing absolute cells as opposed to relative cells. But honestly I didn't dig that deep. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks again for all your hard work. Our game is coming up on a year and wouldn't be possible without this great project. I can't sing your praises high enough. Keep up the good work.

EDIT: I'm not expecting this as a priority but I just felt the need to let you know. Cheers.

Liberty's Edge

I was wondering if there was an update to the project. Just looking to keep communication lines open.

Thanks for all your hard work everyone.

Liberty's Edge

I know this is nit picking. But since I've had players question me on it, I thought I would bring it up. The faction page here:

http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/factions

It lists the old season 5 factions. I was wondering if it was possible to update that information with the new season 6 Factions.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Liberty's Edge

I'd keep it simple in this case, just put in a place where we can note its active and when to remove it/what to remove.

Liberty's Edge

Sounds great! Looking forward to hearing about your progress, as I'm sure others are as well. Keep on doing the good work! It's people like you who do the hard work that make this community so great!

Liberty's Edge

Sounds great! Keep up the good work. I'm looking at using the UR sheet for my game. I was wondering if it is in a usable state or should I just use the UC one and wait for you to finish. I understand you have other priorities and this is not meant to push you in any way. Just trying to get a feel for the progress of the project so I can make the best decision for my group.

Liberty's Edge

I tried to download the character sheets for the PFACG from this link:

http://paizo.com/pfsacg/resources

However when I click on them it takes me to the GM101 product page. Any info would be appreciated with this. Thanks!

Liberty's Edge

I've looked at this and this looks awesome! Keep chugging along. I can't wait to see the finished product. Thanks for all you do for the community.

Signups are posted for the 18th

http://www.cowsgaming.org/event/5641

Good luck all

Only 2 tables due to ACen.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Fromper, I know what we are running on the 18th. Since it's ACen weekend, I'm not expecting as many players as I know at least 4 will be at that convention. Hence, I will be only running 2 tables. Rene will be running QFP part 3, and due to my schedule changing again, I became available, so I will probably be running gods market gamble... but that's not set in stone just yet.

I send out a weekly newsletter for our lodge with upcoming games and info on society. If you would like to be added to my mailing list, please PM me your email address and I'll add you to it. I'm actually in the middle of crafting this weeks right now.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Well, we had a fantastic turn out last week! We actually ended up running 3 tables. I do want to make this quick announcement. Starting May 25th, we are expanding our time slot from noon-4 to 11am-4. Partly to be more inline with season 5 requirements and partly so that we have a bit more time before yu-gi-oh starts at 5.

That being said, the sign ups for this week have been posted here.

We will be running:

3-19: Icebound Outpost
3-11: Quest for Perfection-Part 2: On Hostile Waters
3-21: The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment (tentative, dependent on number of players)

Hope to see you all there at noon!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

It's fine, Ill just have one of my Local GMs pick up the slot.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Yes you are! I will need one other GM to volunteer for that day and what they wish to run. Before I open up sign ups.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

regarding the Kids track... That might be getting moved around a bit... There is a schedule conflict somewhere... I'm waiting to hear more from the troop.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

As a side note, We will also be running the kids track parts 1 and 2 on the 19th and parts 3 and 4 on the 26th. Looks like we are booked up for those at the current moment.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Right now the focus is for getting the 2 retiring factions PC up to the right level to participate in their endings. Once they have finished those and season 5 has come around, we will attempt to stay current with season 5 but also be jumping around all the other seasons as well.

yes we ran frostfur 2 weeks ago. As for Icebound, Go for it! Do you need anything from me Mike?

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Well The current plan is wrap up season 3 with QFP. Followed up by a jump to season 4 to wrap up my players lantern and shadow lodge characters.

Mike pick a Season 3 scenario, preferably. If you look at the event page, it currently lists everything we have played to date. If there is a season 4 scenario you really want to run, just let me know so that I can set up cows. Our player base is all between 1-2 right now... some are coming up very close to 3.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Ok, so recap, cause now I'm Super confused let me lay out my schedule and see if this changes things for you guys at all. Cause I just looked at my schedule and got my dates mixed up.

Coming up on may 4th is Quest for perfection part 1 & Goblinblood dead
May 11th is QfP Part 2 & ???
May 18th I'm scheduled to work so that's where I'll need help: should be QfP part 3 & ???

I'm terribly sorry for the confusion it's been a very hectic weekend and past week. And I got a little bit ahead of the curve and flew off the track.

And to answer Mike's question, We run from noon to 4 or so. I will be there by 10am. Mike, If you wish to GM QfP 2 or play, you are welcome to. I feel terrible for mixing up my days, but lack of sleep will do that to you.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

I might take you up on that offer. I am on call that weekend so, I don't want to GM, I will still be there... but mostly to supervise. I might be looking for someone to run Quest for Perfection part 3 if you're interested, let me know.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

There was some talk about organizing something... but it was a bit too late with too little feed back. We are talking about doing it for ACEN 2014. I don't have all the details and probably won't till it's much closer to next year. If there is any PFS at this years, I feel it will be impromptu. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Congrats! Keep up the good work!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Gratz Chris! Keep up the good work! We need more people like you.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

For those people who are following this. Event details have been updated.

http://paizo.com/events/v5748mkg0abj3

Signups for the 20th and May 4th have been posted. Please be aware, There is no game on April 27th. The store is hosting it's magic pre-release, and as such will be using the room all day.

Also, when you sign up at cows, please be aware, there are always 2 tables listed. The second is just listed below the first and you need to expand it, by hitting the little arrow.

May 4th is also the start of a 3 part series of adventures. Should be fun! Hope to see you all there!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Indeed! That it was! Had a great turn out too!!!! Ill see you next weekend!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Another fantastic session! We had yet another full table! The party did fantastic... but failed it's main objective... :(
That being said, still a rampant success!

Final session of first steps is this coming Saturday! Come join us!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

I just thought I would throw an update out there. I've been swamped at work so just getting to it now. We had a great turn out. Even with a few drop outs. We had a full table of 6. Next game is Saturday. Same place same time. If you guys have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

For anyone who hasn't signed up yet. We still have a few openings left. and game is in 2 days!

I hope to see you guys there. Also, signups for next week should be going up sometime today. It will also be 2 tables of first steps part 2. Mostly because all the players are doing part one and I figured I could finish the intro series before running separate tables.

Thanks again for all your support guys!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

looks like we will be running 2 tables of First steps. Mike will be running the second table. Thanks again Mike B! I hope some of the rest of you will show up. I would love for the first session to be a blow out success!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Looks like 1 table is almost full, Mike offered to GM a second table. Still ironing out the final details before I update. Hope to see many of you there!

Liberty's Edge 2/5

That's the plan, and I hope I did make it dummy proof. I do have a few questions... Can I PM you in a bit?

Liberty's Edge 2/5

I used Cows for the first one. I couldn't get in touch with the guy who runs the stores FB page. I will see him next week. So I will hopefully use FB for the remaining events. There is a link on the Paizo event to the signups.

I understand what you can loose in EVE. Way to forget to update your clone :).

It doesnt matter if your unthreded gear gets taken to teh economy. Sure it sucks for you but those items are still floating around in teh game world. Somone else has them. There needs to be some sort of actual item destruction or everythign will eventualy fall apart. The build fight destroy cycle doesnt work if one piece is missing or out of balance.

Here is a blog post covering this:

Goblinworks blog post: Money Changes Everything wrote:

Coin is a unit of account. Coin can be infinitely divided and combined. It is virtual and does not appear as an in–game object. When your character walks around, you're not lugging around a huge bag full of money. Coin has no weight and can be moved from place to place instantly. We may decide at some point to generate some in–game rationale for all of this using mystic hand–waving and such to "explain" the curious properties of coin, but for the sake of this dev blog we'll keep it relatively simple.

All the coin in the game enters via a faucet. Faucets are things like rewards from NPCs for completing various tasks, or payments made by NPCs when they buy things from player characters. New coin may also be found as loot when a monster is defeated, or it may be discovered as treasure while exploring.

Coin exits the game as well, via a drain. Drains include actions like paying an NPC vendor for something or paying a tax or a fee to an NPC or to some system service. Coin might be consumed by player characters in other interactions with the game world in ways yet to be determined.

When players exchange coin between themselves, it is neither created nor destroyed. When your character dies, the coin you were carrying is not lost, and it doesn't stay with your husk. It is possible for coin to leave circulation without being destroyed—for example, coin associated with inactive characters is effectively out of circulation. But should those characters return to the game, their coin will be there waiting.

In general, more coin will enter the game than leave it. This will allow characters to accumulate wealth, and it ensures that there's ample capital available for loans and gifts. But when the value of M increases in an economic system, it often drives inflation. So like real–world central bankers, Goblinworks will have to carefully manage the size of our M, watching to see that inflation doesn't overwhelm the game's economy. Luckily, unlike real–world bankers, we have 100% visibility into how much coin exists, who has it, how it is being used, and what prices are charged for goods across the whole game world. So we can operate with a kind of Olympian perspective unavailable to our real–world counterparts. We can adjust our economic system with precision, changing the amount of coin that enters via faucets, and controlling the amount that exits via drains. There's no perfect stable point; M will have to be constantly adjusted over time in response to player activity. It's just one of those maintenance tasks that comes with operating a sandbox MMO.

I hope that relieves your fear about the economy. there will be ways for money to leave the economy. I had this fear earlier. But this explained it quite well.

Wow! it's great to see so much interest in this! I would love to have you all there! I wanna see how it goes the first week before I figure out how many tables I may need.

@Valmoon - I have thought about it. Let me get up and running first before I decide if I'll be running Adventure paths. At the current moment, there are no plans for it.

@Mike Mistele - We would be glad to have you. And tell your friends!

@thunderspirit - I would love to have you. I hope to see you the week after.

I will be at the dice dojo tonight to chat with the GMs and promote my game. If any of you will be there, I would be glad to answer any questions you may have. I will post any updates I have here as I get them. Is there any scenarios you guys want to play? Let me know, I'll see if I can run them.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Here is the Paizo link to the event:

In the event description there is now a link to sign up for games.

If you guys have questions or advice. I'm all ears. I don't know if I need to book a second table and what to run on it. We shall see what the numbers start saying. Still have a bunch of time to get this up and running.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Awesome! The more the merrier! I have one table currently. Hopefully, I will have a second table as well. I'm planning on running first steps on one table, the second will probably be a tier 2 table. But let's see what the turn out is.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Well, it's up and official. Signup will be going live tomorrow.

I agree totally with Bluddwolf. That was one of the strongest drawing points of EvE to me. What you did mattered. Whether it was protecting someone else or dieing, there were severe consequences to whatever you did. Death should have meaning and it should be stressful to avoid it. Not just an inconvenience, but stressful.

You don't cast the spell and say 'I want to speak druidic', you cast the spell and you can understand and speak to someone else. Until they speak, the spell doesn't know what language to 'reply' in.

I would disagree, I feel like if you have heard the language at least once, you should be able to pull it off. It does state that you can only speak one language at a time. So what is preventing you from choosing that language?

Liberty's Edge

After reading the full spell description.

PFSRD wrote:
This spell grants the creature touched the ability to speak and understand the language of any intelligent creature, whether it is a racial tongue or a regional dialect. The subject can speak only one language at a time, although it may be able to understand several languages. Tongues does not enable the subject to speak with creatures who don't speak. The subject can make itself understood as far as its voice carries. This spell does not predispose any creature addressed toward the subject in any way.

If it were me running the game. I would interpret it as MDT has stated, and because you are actually speaking in that language, I would allow tongues as a viable way to speak command phrases in an unknown language. However, any character who observes him activate the Magic Object, can eventually learn to activate it. You don't have to understand a phrase to mimic it. Though it might be hard to make sure you got it right without a coach. That's my interpretation anyway.

Liberty's Edge Goblin Squad Member

I would like to see some sort of more sever consequence for death as well. Something like what we had in EVE. If your clone wasn't up to snuff, you would lose training time. That was on top of the ship you would lose. So, now you have to completely re-equip and you have lost of the training time due to your failing to have a good enough clone. And then you had to buy a new clone. Not to mention, you resurrect where your clone was, and if it's on the other side of the game... well, you're out of luck. So there was a huge financial penalty for death, as was there a risk of a time penalty for death. That was sufficient motivation to not die, and in some case, to specifically go after killing players. I would love to see something similar in PFO.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Great! Ill be going in to the store on Saturday morning to speak with the owner and iron out final details. do you guys feel running weekly is better or every other or monthly? whats the general consensus? Also, how do you promote the game? be it in-store or online?

Liberty's Edge 2/5

I already have 5 copies of the Guide to organized play Printed. Since I'm new to PFS or living campaigns in general, is there an over arching story that each season builds, or is it mostly stand alone sessions where there is no prior knowledge required to run? Also, when you say new players are you talking new to PFS or new to pathfinder? Cause a lot of my players are experienced pathfinder players but never played PFS.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

I don't know how much I'm going to actually play. I plan on just showing up and learning and asking questions. I might jump into a game with a pregen. But I'm coming with lots of questions.

I guess I can ask them here...

  • So first, how does one get temporary PFS IDs?
  • Besides scenarios, pregens, spare dice, and Pencils, what else do you recommend I have on hand?
  • I'm playing on running first steps for my first 3 sessions. Afterwards, should I run season 3 or should I run season 4?

Let's start with those.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

thunderspirit, Thanks for the offer, I might just take you up on it. I'll be sure to send up a flare when I get everything ironed out.

Rene, I'll hopefully see you at DD on Monday. I'm having someone switch my on call time for the day so I can swing out there once. I'm shooting to be out there by 7. I get off of work at 6 so should be a fun drive. Also, I will probably run the First steps cause it will allow people to choose their faction at the end of it, as they get a base intro into the factions.

What did you mean by having the store owner do something for the GMs?
