Hmmm indeed.

Still here as well, I may give the recruitment page a little bump to see if we can get a few more players.

Figured out my character's name:

I gazed upon my wrists. Upon each there is a name tattooed, wrapping around like shackles. CASTAIGNE and YH'TILL. Each time I look back the names change. LARHENIUS and ROEBY. No matter how many time I look, no matter how many names I read, my name is always neither. PAYNE and ALMAH. My name is still neither.

Neither's Backstory:
Amnesia. A word derived from the ancient Azlanti "forgetfulness," or more literally "without memory." It was the first word I remembered when I awoke.

I do not know who I am. I do not know where I am, or even why I am. And yet I do not believe this term amnesia applies to me. For I am not without memory.

I remember building sandcastles with the strange brass-handed man on the shore of the Lake of Mists and Veils and giving him directions to my father's castle.

I remember bleeding out in foul Worldwound dirt, contemplating the karmic justice I'd met for abandoning my fellow crusaders to the horrors which I lacked the resolve to face.

I remember my first taste of flesh as a goblin babe when I bit off my brother's ear not out of malice or hunger but curiosity.

I remember the cold kiss of the silver crown upon my shaved head as I was coronated princess of a long dead empire.

I remember a sea of gold, accumulated over centuries, so vast that many of the petty dragon-slayers who came for me drowned in it.

I remember waving goodbye to the boy on the beach who had been so fascinated by my brass hand, as I set off to kill Lord Lodovka in his own house.

You must understand, my condition is not that I remember nothing - I remember everything.

Tatters of the King (Now Recruiting!)

Recruitment is going a little slowly right now, but I tried subtly inserting a not-so-subtle advertisement into a submission for a similarly themed game, so hopefully we'll see some results soon.

Here's the pseudo-backstory for my currently unnamed character. I figured this'd be a perfect fit for an Amnesiac Psychic (with the reborn discipline).

Also, on a somewhat related note, this being a very Hastur/mythos themed AP, I'd like to shamelessly invite any fans of such things to check out recruitment for my "King in Yellow" Call of Cthulhu game which centers heavily around Hastur.

Whatever kind of creative arts you fancy - both of those would be acceptable.

Recruitment deadline TBA.

Unless you feel having combat skills essential to the character, I wouldn't really worry about it, as this adventure is much heavier on the roleplay side.

You're free to apply, but those who haven't experienced the adventure will get quite a bit of preference.

Alienist is actually just a now discontinued term for psychologist/psychiatrist used during the time period.

The new recruitment thread is up, along with a link to the quickstart rules. If either of you want to remake your character feel free, otherwise you're fine to stick with Chang and Rusty.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

But again, Tragedy is an imitation not only of a complete action, but of events inspiring fear or pity. Such an effect is best produced when the events come on us by surprise; and the effect is heightened when, at the same time, they follow as cause and effect. The tragic wonder will then be greater than if they happened of themselves or by accident; for even coincidences are most striking when they have an air of design.

Tatters of the King

Wherein:

--------------The stars are right.--------------
Hastur's gaze gains brief focus upon the Earth.
--------------And things change.--------------

It is October 1928. London: the capital of an empire that covers a quarter of the globe and contains a quarter of the human race. The population busies itself with its concerns of politics and government, finance and production, work and recreation.
But how fragile things are.
What ignorance there is.

Are your favorite words either "phyrric victory," or unpronounceable using human speech organs? Then join us for a bit of horrific investigative roleplaying in the Call of Cthulhu adventure Tatters of the King. I've got two players lined up already, so I'm only looking for one or two more, depending on the submissions. If you've never played CoC, fear not - it's a very simple easy to learn via the free quickstart rules and plenty of other things to fear once we start playing.

Character Creation Rules//Quickstart Guide:

6th Edition Quickstart Rules
In addition to the standard rules, use the following:
Roll two sets of attributes, and pick either.
After picking which set you use, you may move 3 points from one attribute to another. This may be done up to three times, picking different attribute each time. This replaces the ability to swap attributes which use the same value.
Do not roll for your financial situation, this may be freely chosen through backstory.
Recommendations from the book: Ideally one investigator should be a psychoanalyst or alienist and published in this field, and one or more of the others should be involved in the creative arts. It is convenient if the investigators live in or near London, but one or all can be foreign-based if they are prepared to travel to Britain to address events.

Speaking of the rules, it looks like Chaosium replaced the 6th edition quick start with the one from 7th edition, which we won't be using. I have a copy of the 6th edition quickstart saved somewhere on my hard drive, so I'll try to upload it somewhere later today for anyone who needs it.

Yep, at the moment we only have one other player, and it looks like some of the others aren't even active on the boards any more, so we may need to recruit some fresh faces.
