Forgot about the Will Save!

MoO's Will Save: 1d20 + 23 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 23 - 4 = 21

Never mind, the Maw is still just an evil chicken with lots of HP and BAB!

Oh, but wait until the posts are up... I got good advice from the Ultimate GM of Penultimate WTFness! >:)

I knows! It was like a 3/4 undead. We blended undead and half-undead lol. So, no big huge immunities, but it had the CHA to HP and Fort saves. We wanted it to be weaker because of how damaging the thing was (Able to hit about 120-200 a round on average,) and how powerful it's abilities were. Woops lol! XD

LIKE OMG, TRAZZLE TURNED THE MAW OF OBLIVION INTO A CHICKEN!!! CURSE YOU, UNDEAD FORTITUDE SAVES!!! :D

Charis Zooms in front of Camiel, ready to defend her to the death.

Maw of Oblivion's Fort save gainst Baleful Polymorph: 1d20 + 23 - 7 ⇒ (7) + 23 - 7 = 23

Trazzle fires a blast of energy from his rod, which zips and zags erratically through the air before striking the beast, which lets out a furious roar as it's body is encased in a pale green energy and shrunk... into a chicken with glowing red eyes!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEN OF OBLIVION INDEED! You're quite lucky that thing had such a horrendous Fort save! I definitely hadn't planned on that, but well done! XD

Combat over?

Charis has stated he is rejoining us as well!

Seeing as how no one used any special abilities that could determine what the beast is, I will proceed with combat. For this game, initiative is handled as block initiative, with your individual initiatives determining the orders your actions resolve in.

The source of the rumbling and the showering sand approaches, coming within 100 ft., at which point all goes silent and no movement can be seen. Then, dark sand explodes into the air and a massive roar can be heard. As the sand settles, you see an almost impossible large worm-like monster reared like a serpent at you and the others. It's body seems to be made out of some foul amalgam of rotting, fluid-leaking undead flesh and almost liquid darkness. Wisps of energy emerge from it's body to form screaming faces, which are swiftly grasped by tendrils of darkness and reabsorbed into the beast. It raises it's 'head' in the air, it's mouth opening like some obscene fanged flower opening and a massive roar shakes the ground. In the distance, almost half a mile away, you can see coils of the improbably-sized monster moving. Just how large is this thing?!

Maw of Oblivion's Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Party's Initiative: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Party Initiative Average Added to Block Initiative: 21, 16, 14, 11, 9, 5= 76/6= 12.6=13

So, everyone, sticking with your actions?

For the sake of simplicity, let's just say Colossal! If we're talking measurements... just wait until you possibly kill it!

Waiting on the other before I post again!

And... your item is reaccepted, Trazzle!

No, although considering the fact that the plane is Major Negative Dominant, as per Verana's description, it can be assumed to be either undead, a construct, or somehow otherwise immune to negative energy

Sounds good! ^_^

Trazzle, it's no big deal! Versatility is often just as important, if not more, than optimization! Read the gameplay post, as I reiterated the Legendary Item rules for you! ^_^

Anyone choosing to use a special effect not requiring information, such as Camiel's ability, to divine the nature of the beast:
Delving into the Akashic memory of the universe, you see the beast that burrows beneath the sands. It is known as the Maw of Oblivion, a massive beast formed out of solidified negative energy and undead flesh fused together into an an abomination reminiscent of some combination of Nightcrawler and Purple Worm, but vastly more powerful than either. You see a snippet of an entire group of adventurers being devoured in a single gulp by it, their essences torn and absorbed by the beast within moments. You see another snippet of the beast coiled around a golden dragon of great size, the dragon being crushed and, oddly enough, it's scales dulling. Before long, the dragon's struggles cease and it slumps to the ground. After a few moments, purple light shine from beneath it's scales and out of it's eyes and mouth. It convulses for a moment and rises upon broken limbs, releasing a gutteral roar before flying off in the distance. In yet another instance, the beast vomits a black sludge on the ground, from which rise countless skeletal being seemingly formed out of the foul material. Clearly this monster is extremely powerful and displays almost unheard of powers of necromancy.

All knowledge checks but those made with special rules fail, for no living thing has ever escaped from this plane of existence, nor was able to send an arcane missive of some sort. Hence, whatever knowledge there is of this beast lies only with those it has slain. Hypercognition also fails because there is not enough facts known about the creature as of yet (If you can somehow argue that you can somehow piece together information from a beast that no person alive in the multiverse today can know, that you know so little about, I MAY overrule this for Hypercognition!). How Verana had any knowledge of this plane at all is, at least to you, unknown. :P

Yukio/Ink'kali:
There is no sign of any life beyond your group.

Trazzle, it was basically a Legendary Item, as per the Mythic ability of the same name. I also allowed you to splice abilities into it as if it were a regular magic item, as per my rules for combining magic items!

The trail of dark sand flying into the air grows closer and you can make out that the sand bulges up for some distance, almost like some sort of giant serpent or worm burrowed beneath the earth...

Also, POSTIES! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

No, you are still in! I told you that there was always a place for you! ^_^

Bump to active! Everyone still here?

Sorry, busy trying to get characters ready for TSPs campaigns and i got distracted! :(

He hasn't explained it? I'm not sure this is the proper forum for it then. :P

The internet wasn't the problem, as I'm sure TSP has mentioned lol.

We can and we will! If worst comes to worst, we can spot some people that are good end game players and ask if they are interested, yeah?

Back! So, two drops? What about the rest of you?

Waiting on Charis to confirm! :)

YESSSSSSSSSS!!! DAT'S THREE! ^_^

*POKES WITH A DIVINE POKER*

Crap, I just noticed I didn't post the link! O_O D:

No lol. XD

READZ THE LINKEY PLZ!!! XD

Indeed it is! I'm waiting to hear from everyone on that link!

I'm baaaaaaack! I'm looking posts over and such, so posts will come later! Also, I'll be putting up the Advanced Bestiary in Princey's Google Docs and I WILL allow last-minute changes for templates before combat begins for you all! :)

I apologize for the delay! The recent storms had a way with the Internet boxes around here, but it's ok now! I'm about to go to bed, but I will post later! ^_^

Depends on the plane, truthfully.

Yesterday was another bust day, so I will, with any luck, post later!

ALL Teleportation and Planeshifting attempts fail. Part of the Desert of Woe's Burden of Sorrow trait I homebrewed. Only deific-level magic or a certain place within the plane allows escape. The Mask prepares for all, no? :P

THOON's attempt to teleport fails utterly. He feels a strange heaviness enter his body, keeping his disparate particles from separating.

As the energy of the power dissipates, a low rumble can be heard and the ground itself seems to shake. The tremors begin increasing in intensity and, in the distance, the sight of grey-black sand can be seen showering into the oppressive sky. Apparently something has awoken beneath the sands, and it now comes for you all...

What do you do?

Tenro, glucose is an issue with diabetes, but that's only one possible scenario. There's a LOT of different disorders out there. TSP has, at the very least, elevated insulin levels which cause hypoglycemia.

Will be posting tomorrow everyone! Things have been a bit busy on my end the last few days.

Yukio, that is acceptable! And I will have the other thread up sometime tonight.

Thoon, TSP has internet on his phone, his main issue is his medical issues. Thankfully he's got an appointment September 2nd with an endocrinologist, so hopefully he will be better soon.

Yes indeed lol. Just clarifying! :)

Camiel, remember, Da'amaat is a dragon... that being obviously was not. :P

Indeed you do, Mr. Petrikov, because I've been waiting on it! >_> :P

Post up! Hoping there will be some quick replies so we can all push forward! :)

Petrikov, the Desert of Woe is a place that's slightly cool, like on a Halloween night, so it shouldn't be too hot lol. And I will allow your 'ability' as flavor, but don't expect to ever use it for utility unless you utilize it as a spell! Also, got Deep Magic! ^_^

Trazzle, it is not bright enough to trigger Light Sensitivity.

Camiel, everyone else can read as OOC knowledge:
You reach out and pluck a strand of fate from the air, looking at it intensely. In your mind's eye, you leaves your body and float above the assembled group. You're suddenly miles high, almost touching the thundering stormclouds. In the distance, you can make out an indistinct white shape. You fly forward several miles in mere moments, the tormented shades of the desert mere darker specks of black on the grey-black expanse. After travelling several miles in mere seconds, the white shape becomes more distinct to you. From the bleak environs rises a massive city of dead-white stone, obelisks rising like lances to pierce the sky and buildings unknowably ancient stand, divided by the wide streets lined with free-standing columns. Dark horrors wander the lonely streets, seemingly ignoring one another.

In the center of the city rises a cyclopean pyramid of white and black stone, with strange red energy coursing through the grooves in the stone. Floating atop the pyramid is a massive being of black stone shaped like a humanoid skeleton of some sort with a dark halo behind its head, its hands clasped as if in prayer. Purple mist flows from its mouth and eyesockets almost like some evanescent blood. It turns its head towards you, somehow aware you are looking at it. It opens its mouth and an echoing voice, powerful and sinister, issues forth, "A goddess, it seems, has decided to grace my domain... how intriguing. It seems that the celestial harlot would not come herself for the seer. Tell me, little goddess, does Verana send assassins to do her work now? Or is she too craven to face me herself? It matters naught either way. I will send you and your companions' souls screaming to the void and use your lifeless bodies as my slaves. Farewell, fledgling goddess."

The skeletal figures forehead opens up into a third eye, which glows menacingly. Suddenly, a beam of lambent purple energy cuts through the air towards you and you snap back to your body. You can almost feel the cold, deathly energy that the creature fired at you, even though it was all just a vision. How did Da'amaat know you were looking at him through the strands of fate and how could he act through them? This leaves you with an uneasy feeling...

Trazzle and THOON:
In the distance, you spot a large white shape, which is likely a city of some sort. Further information cannot be gleaned this far away.

STOP ZE MADNESS THOON! XD

Trazzle, I actually had to spend most of Wednesday with TSP because his glucose was going haywire. Slingshotting 30 points is not a good thing. Want me to text him and see when he can post? I remember you said you were in one of his campaigns.

Camiel! You... how did....? WHY?!!! Never mind! XD

Silence, do not bring logic into this! XD

Prepare thy cyber-sniper for a swashbuckling campaign of wonder and terror, coin and cleavage, pirates and tentacles (Please don't mix the two!)!

Calm yourselves, ravenous PCs! Don't make me slap your account with my Rod of Nat 1s! :P

Sorry about the delays. Had to help a friend with depression, help TSP when his sugar went haywire, and had game night last night!

THOON, CALM YOURSELF, YOU'LL SPRAIN A TENTACLE! You're in group 2... check the thread. I will actually get the campaigns running later, I just wanted to post and let everyone know my selections. :)

Whoops, the post didn't seem to stick! :/ Ah well, I'll repost gameplay laterz!

Check this out... my magnum opus horror campaign!

*EDITED GRAND TO MAGNUM!*

The entire desert is normal light, being dark enough to be gloomy but not dark enough that you can't see. The deep gloom and the height of the lightning rolling across the clouds means it does not increase lighting when it strikes.

I am going to be mostly lurking today, because I have something I will be doing most of the day. I MAY get a substantial post in gameplay, but I can't promise it. Just giving you all a heads-up!

Verana bows slightly to you, "Very well then, champions... your journey begins now. I will pray for your safety. Lumos?"

The seven Lanterns that comprise Lumos suddenly appear in the room, their voices tinkling like windchimes as they speak in perfect unison, "You called us, mistress?"

She nods and gestures softly towards you all, "Yes. They are ready for their journey to the Desert. Would you kindly escort them there?"

"But of course. We live to serve!"

The seven Lanterns split and revolve around each of you, dancing and glowing with ever-brighter energy around you. Suddenly there is a flash of blinding light and a strange sensation floods your bodies. What seems like an eternity passes and suddenly the sensation abates. Your eyes slowly come into focus.

The Desert of Woe truly lives up to its name. The ground is nothing but an endless expanse of grey-black sand that stretches seemingly into infinity. The sky is the black of a stormy sky and lightning ripples silently through the clouds in sheets. You look around and see nothing but black sand and an obelisk of weathered white stone engraved with Draconic runes. The wind howls mournfully over the sands like condemned souls bewailing an eternity of torment, a sound which stirs buried memories deep within your heart of forgotten sorrows, the darkest of your memories.

Draconic:
'Despair be upon your hearts, walker of the Desert of Woe, for the sin of life that you bear even unto the threshold of this obelisk. The ebon sands shall erode your life and your will, destroy the things which have lead you to this desolate place and make you as one of the wailing shades that wander this place endlessly. If ye seek a swift and merciful death, seek out the master of this realm, the Pharoah of Black Sands and entreat him for the mercy of utter oblivion. Praise be unto the Pharoah, praise be to the great Da'amaat Anzhukhat, in whose claws rest the seat of knowledge and the way to everlasting peace!' There seem to be directions, after the last few sentences, showing the way to Da'amaat's palace lies forward beyond the obelisk, miles through tracks of empty sands.

"It seems as if everyone is ready to go then correct? Or am I mistaken?"

Charis:
You gaze upon the amulet with eyes attuned to arcane energies. The entire amulet blazes like a golden fire, almost blinding you. You can make out, however, that the Celestial script shifts and flows into one of the runes you saw earlier. The golden energy flows into you and can clearly be seen coursing through your veins. Very strange indeed!

Last chance to ask questions before departure!

"The Desert of Woe is a place of eternal darkness, as bleak and dark as the heart of its master. I suspect that may be a problem given your... condition, we shall say. Have you any spells of the sun?"

"If they are unliving, then they will be immune to the life-leeching properties of the Desert of Woe. I cannot reliably say whether they will be immune to the soul-crushing despair or not, however. That is a risk you all face as well."

"Lord Petrikov, I am sure undead would be much more powerful in the Desert. However, you should exercise caution, for assuredly he has a means of wresting these from your control."

Turning to everyone else, Verana motions to each of the individuals in turn, "Do any of you have anything you would like to ask afore I send you to the Desert of Woe? I suspect that there are a few lingering questions that you may desire an answer for."

Those who touch the crystal. The chunk of crystal feels warm and comforting to touch, but feels strangely... alive as well. Suddenly part of it flows up your arm like some sort of liquid and snakes around your neck, forming into a crystalline medallion etched with intricate runes.

Celestial on the Medallion:
Your name is transcribed on the medallion in an ancient type of Celestial script.

"Entropy from outside forces, Lord Thoon. It will not effect you in the slightest, apart from a feeling somewhat warm and comforting to the touch, like a a good memory from the past."
