After some more thorough investigating, Vardarel is pretty sure the green lion was possessed by some sort of spirit, or other being, a malevolent being. Somehow this being was able to raise the goblin corpses to do their bidding, not to mention influence the wolves and lions of the den. With the host being destroyed the spirit fled the caverns, perhaps someday to return to seek revenge? Either way, the bridge should be done by then so.. not your problem! --- Zig nods "Well, I guess you all deserve a meal and a rest. Hopefully tonight and the rest of the nights will now be restful and we can finish this bridge." He looks off towards the northern horizon as the light breaks through some clouds, highlighting his prominent cheekbones perfectly. As hoped, the rest of the nights go by soundly. The goblin camp gains more and more morale with each passing night. The bridge is soon built and the team sent home with bulging bags of goblin gold coins.
Let's see if I can't remember how to do this. Chronicles are HERE Please let me know if there's a mistake or you can't access them, etc. All that's to be done is reporting, which I'll wait til this weekend when I hear back from you all the chronicles are right. Either way, Chadius should be now on the clock! PS, sorry this game dragged out for nearly 3 months!

The 'lich' thing. The most nebulous of the options by far. I'll do a write up on what is found out when time allows. I had hoped to get things finalized yesterday but it didn't happen and work/life is very busy today and tomorrow. Luckily Wednesday seems good, and the AC is pointed at my computer so I shouldn't be a melted mess. Its not often we see temps in the 90s here!
I'll be wrapping things up hopefully by sometime tonight. Please roll any downtimes, etc and I'll start trying to remember how to do chronicles and reporting! Thanks for sticking it out.
Finally seeing what the gobbos have become, Vardarel and the rest of team put the last of them down through holy magic and vicious headbutts, incessant pecking, and the like. Finally the cavern grows quiet and the remaining unease flows out the entrance like a hot breeze. Exploring the rest of the cavern takes only a few minutes, obviously a den to the wolves and lions, which is an odd pairing to be sure. The remains of numerous animals and humanoids litter the area, along with scattered coins, 75g in all. Farther back in the cavern is the resting place of even more goblin corpses, including the one you tracked back to this place. Half eaten, it's piled with the others awaiting its turn to rise from the dead. With all the obvious threats here destroyed its time to head back to the camp. Zig spies you from his new tower, climbing down and heading out to meet you at the gate. "You've made it back. Good news I hope?"

Bella continues playing with the gobbos, trading poorly aimed attacks back and forth. Khiari for once is much more serious, laying out the green gobbo with a hoof to the head. It drops like heap. She follows that up with a solid hoof into orange, which still stands before giving Nicole a bit of guidance. Nicole uses it to her advantage, toss another fire bomb, this time at brown, with a side of Bella and the orange gobbo. Brown gets scorched but appears resistant to the flames somewhat. Yellow gobbo resists the splash completely, Bella however does not. Perhaps this gobbo heritage is flame resistant? Her crossbow shot connects with orange but most of the damage is resisted. Fran calls on her patron for some regenerative healing on Bella, which definitely will help patch those fang holes eventually. An extra shield never hurt either for herself. You never know when another one of those lions is going to spring out of the shadows... Curious what's going on with the goblins Fran looks around for the source, she isn't sure exactly what's going on but she can't shake that green lion they just killed...
Roark heads closer to the healer then zaps a pair of gobbos. They resist the bulk of the damage but sizzle slightly.
The three remaining gobbos continue mindlessly raking their targets with their claws. (Brown, yellow, then orange.)

Fran quickly finishes off the green lion. As it goes down everyone almost feels a scream echo through their minds and the air in the room gets lighter. You feel like you've just accomplished something, yet these deranged looking gobbos continue to attack! The gobbo with the brown tunic claws at Bella ravenously!
The gobbo with the yellow straw hat does the same!
The remaining two gobbos both decide to team up on Khiari, only the Orange one lands a claw though.
Bella escapes as fast as she's grabbed up, but remains surrounded by enemies. Luckily she's got lots of allies on her side. Khiari hoofs the green gobbo solidly. Vardarel keeps calm, secure in his abilities. He sends a blast of healing into Bella, closing up some of her wounds. His bow lands a shot on the lion for full damage.
Roark puts his beak where his mouth usually is, tumbling behind the lion and landing a confident strike before fleeing like a black feathery kobold.

I had a feeling that's what was going on, but mostly just wanted to make sure in the grand scheme everything was OK. Take your time.
Bella's scarf appears defective as it doesn't save her from even one hit, while Vardarel's spell also seemed to be ineffective against the gobbos. ***Bold may act, Map Round 5/6!*** Vardarel (31/38) (Vibrant Thorns)
Bella fascinates the yellow gobbo , it's beady red eyes follow the movements of the scarf intently, its claws mimicking the movements. Nicole moves closer and tosses a fire bomb at the green lion, hitting it solidly and catching some hair on fire. Robo Fran strides stiffly forward repeating "Roark. needs. help. Roark needs. help." Helping his luck a tad. The gobbos swarm ahead. Half of them head to the closest target: Bella, claws swiping repeatedly at her and her scarf, teeth chomping rhythmically to some unknown music.
Brown slashes wildly, but the yellow gobbo takes two mean slices out of Bella's arms, not distracted by her scarf. The second pair of gobbos rush through the smaller tunnel and come up behind Vardarel. The green one slashing twice, and orange only having time for one attempt at feeding.
Neither gobbo gets a claw into Vardarel, both also seem to be undamaged by the prick of his thorns spell. Finally the green lion makes its move, striding ahead and tearing at Bella with its teeth and taking a strong hold!

Vardarel knows these are likely the missing goblins, some are a bit worse for wear but they appear to be under some sort of spell, or influence. They are pretty hungry with sharp claws. The Elf misses with his magical bow. Roark is feeling confident. So much so he tries to finish the pink lion with a beak to the head... He hits the lion, who wobbles, and wobbles and.. finally falls down, just as he tumbles past. Bella finally lets Khiari have a turn, who runs towards pink just as it falls over.

Fran and Nicole combine critical tosses to finally take out the big blue cat. The pink one hisses in anger, even more so when Nicole sinks a crossbow bolt into its foot. It charges at Nicole fangs bared, snatching her up in its jaws like a soon to be snack!
From up on the stairs there is quite a commotion as 4 little goblins, nothing much more than skin and bones, some broken or bent at inhuman angles skitter down towards the party with glowing red eyes filled with ill intent. Behind them another lion stalks as well.
Only thing I have to go on is what's on her profile character sheet. I'll update later today or tonight when time allows.
Bella comes to Vardarel's aid, bolstered by a potion bottle with the word Vardarel suddenly sprouts thorns and heals himself while Roark crawls away, half his tail feathers gone. What will Nicole and Fran do? ***Bold may act, Map Round 3/4!*** Vardarel (31/38) (Vibrant Thorns)

Vardarel efficiently puts down the last wolf with a flash of divine energy. He moves ahead to check for any stragglers. "Nothing, looks like we're clear here..." Is what he's about to say when the others see a blur of blue fur, fangs and claws squeeze through the side corridor and jump at Roark. Right after, almost like a coordinated attack, a familiar pink blur of fur, fangs, and claws jumps out from behind the rock wall at the Elf.
Roark somehow rolls out of the way of the fangs. Vardarel isn't as lucky. The lion sinks its teeth into the Elf but doesn't get a good grip with its fangs.
Franny puts an end to the black wolf with a rock to the skull. Its back legs kick a few times before coming to a slowing conclusion. Bella changes her attention to the prone purple dog, indeed teaching it some new tricks with a successful twirling stomp. Nicole's fire bomb makes the blue wolf go up in a cloud of smoke and ash, never to burn a wagon again. Black gets scorched and looks pretty weary. He hand crossbow shot falls short. GM Stuffz:

I haven't heard from Fran yet, and she hasn't posted since May 15th. Can someone please bot her regularly until she shows back up? I'd like to get this game wrapped up before too much longer. My field season is here and my free time is getting shorter and shorter.

Black tries to take out Bella's legs but gets its own legs swept out instead, hitting the ground in a four legged heap.
Roark wiggles his damaged tail feathers for black, barely catching its attention . He gives it a zap, but it twists to the side, avoiding most of it.
The large flaming green wolf charges ahead at Roark, determined to protect his home, biting and tripping the corvid. The flames eventually overtake the injured wolf as it collapses next to Roark, fires still burning. The smaller wolves howl in disappointment.
The purple wolf rushes ahead, targeting Bella with a bite and another failed attempted takedown!

Vardarel knows just what Bella needs, asking his patron Ketephys to heal all but a scratch and some torn clothing. He also critically recalls a slew of information about the dire cinder wolves. They enjoy biting and eating things. Grabbing them up and shaking them to bloody bits. They've got no immunities, weaknesses, or resistances. Their minds are weaker than their bodies. The smaller black wolf presses the attack on Bella, biting at her ankles and trying to trip her up.
Bella strategically retreats before kicking the red wolf confidently in the ribs. She hears an audible crack and the wolf goes down in a still heap. ***Bold may act, Map Round 2!*** Vardarel (38/38)

Fran moves up and hurls a rock but her aim is poor. The last two wolves growl and race ahead to defend themselves. The large red one, heavily injured, attempts to take out the bird.
The large red wolf tries to grab Roark but instead gets a mouthful of black feathers. The blue wolf darts in to try getting a free meal off the prone Bella, coming away with a small chunk for an appetizer.
Bella gives Green a solid kick to the belly, then Nicole follows it up with a well placed fire bomb, splashing most of the pack and lighting the green dire cinder wolf aflame. Red and green aren't looking too keen... Fran ponders her options. ***Bold may act, Map Round 1!*** Vardarel (38/38)

Roark misses. The large green wolf barks loudly and rushes up to Bella, its tongue dripping the familiar flammable saliva as before with the wagons. It snaps recklessly.
The purple wolf steps forward, hoping to feast on the fallen.
Bella rolls, dodges, and lunges out of all but the last bite!

Vardarel gets a lung shot on the red wolf, who staggers a bit but just growls in return. The smaller black wolf bites at Bella's ankles, grabbing hold and twisting, pulling her to the ground before biting again!

Vardarel hangs back with his light spell, but he quickly realizes he doesn't really need it as the inside of the cavern is oddly lit with torches. Its almost like they knew most animals needed some light to see by. Standing up and looking around immediately before the group are some familiar foes: a pack of wagon burning cinder wolves lie about licking their wounds. The raise their heads and look towards those not avoiding notice, growling. The large red and green dire cinder wolves are obviously injured from your scrap yesterday. The smaller wolves are not. ***Bold may act, Map Round 1!*** Vardarel (38/38)
Vardarel efficiently leads the party through the scrub shrub environment. There aren't many trees and its pretty hot and dry, but not so much as to be a parched desert wasteland. Up a small rise a rock outcrop bears the tell tale signs of a cave, facing south towards the river and bridge site. Piles of animal scat litter the area immediate to the entrance. You must stoop or crawl to enter but it looks to open up farther in, even some low light can be seen. It smells of musty decay... and blood.
"I see." Zig nods, looking across the horizon as the sun moves into full view. The rays of light sparkling off a lone tear on his cheek. "I'll try to keep that detail from getting out as long as I can, but Muckmuck will surely dig it up, hurting morale. Get some rest then track down those blood thirsty cats and give them what they deserve." Zig climbs up the tower and surveys his camp, frequently calling down for his assistants to bring him up breakfast, maps, and a sling shot. He practices his aim on loafing goblins.
Your sleep isn't the most comfortable or the most quiet, but considering how exhausted you are it doesn't really matter. Eventually a mouse of a goblin, one of Zig's assistants, awakens you all. "So sorry.. Zig says time to get moving?" She scurries off to other duties. Once you're ready you head out to where the lions ran off with the goblin. The tracks are pretty fresh and the blood makes tracking easier. Fran is particularly confident in her ability to track the cats thanks to her critical recall.
The alarm is finally shut down and most of the goblins go back to sleep. Roark's claw marks slowly heal over while the Sidare sister's celebrate a solid, but not flawless victory. You all continue the night watch, having no additional attacks noticed, cheer sleepily as the sun begins to crest the horizon. You are all very much spent and ready to crawl into any dark nook or cranny for much deserved sleep. However, first Zig shows up for a report. "I've heard there was some commotion last night, something about the alarm went off? I didn't notice. The walls of my room keep the sounds at bay, only way to get a solid sleep around here." You notice his fuzzy slippers are still on.
The group starts to relax as the lions retreat, Nicole takes one final pot shot at pink at the flickering edge of her vision but the shot just misses. Pink races off into the darkness. The alarm continues to sound, drawing sleepy headed goblins to poke their heads fearfully out of tents. Vardarel (38/38)

Roark's boot strikes true, nearly knocking the last cat off its feet, either by damage or smell, its hard to tell. The pink cat clearly has had enough of this venture and turns tail to rush to escape. It climbs up the wall and down the other side, striding off into the night. Vardarel can still see it in the distance but the blue cat disappears into the darkness to the north.
Fran retreats to the base of the tower, giving her a bit of breathing room and a clear shot at the pink cat. A cat she knows very well, giving her the edge in combat. "Boot to the face!" She calls out, flinging a nearby boot that was drying by the fire into its whiskery muzzle.
I'll be away on some holiday family time for a couple days. Be back to move us along on Sunday! If Fran doesn't post by Saturday evening some please bot her if they would be so kind!
