Missing Drogar Feel free to start initiative order. Drogar when you roll go ahead and act wherever you fall in order. Since I know for a lot of you, what you do with parts of your actions will depend on how successful previous parts are, I will provide basic info for all the non "boss" creatures (AC, saves, HP). It just lets things run smoother. Currently all foes before you are their basic creature types, so you can just check them against the SRD. In the future I will have an info sheet with that data for all of you to access.

![]() That is the link to our combat sheet, the full URL is here in case you wish to copy it. https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1q5BqL7yZV8wwLt3ENDpBgddE66SKnaDLyZ70pPE 4I30/edit?usp=sharing You burst on to the scene right to the bottom, that road goes directly to the door of the church, so the building is 1 square off screen. This is my first time trying PbP combat using Google drawing. We will see how it goes. If you guys know of something you like better, we can always switch. I do know that next time I am making colored squares around the enemies. Those stone giants blend in pretty well. I will add basic image of you all based on your character icons. I suspect for some of you we will also need large size ones. ![]()
![]() As you rush outside in various stages of visibility, size, and mode of transport you easily see the source of the pounding sound. Enormous boulders are being hurled at the town wall, the church and onto various building around you. All around giants of various shapes and sizes are storming the town of Sandpoint, the townsfolk fleeing for the safety of the larger buildings, running out of town, or hiding anywhere they can. That right tiny pink skins, flee, flee like pigs ready for slaughter! one of the giants wielding an ax bellows. He appears slightly blue, as if made of ice. From what you can currently see most of the Giants appear to have grey skin, like rocks. Some have blue or red skin. 2 giants appear to be leading the giants you bother are larger than the rest of the giants (Huge size). One with pale skin, and one dark skinned. The dark skinned giant shouts orders in a surprisingly high voice.Break their buildings, their bones, and their spirits! Let them know their heroes are dead, and we have come for vengeance in the name of Karzog! While you can see that giants appear to be assaulting the whole town, a majority are concentrated in the north near you. You can see 5 of the grey skinned giants, 3 of the blue skinned, along with the larger 2. Beyond the wall you can see more giants, primarily the grey skinned running towards the wall. Anyone who wants to knowledge check them, Knowledge:local DC18-23:
The grey giants are Stone giants, the blue ones are frost giants. The larger pale skinned Giant is a storm giant, and the dark skinned one is a Taiga giant. You can all give me initiative, and we will prepare for first combat tomorrow! ![]()
![]() I lied, none of you can fail this perception check, so here are the results perception: You hear what the father hears, a loud pounding, though it is not rythmic. Further listening reviels that it doesn't sound as much like pounding as it does crashing. You notice the liquid in your drinking glasses is shaking. Whatever it is, it's big ![]()
![]() All who attempted the skill check for the tea were successful.
Tea:
You know that this tea appears to be made from Assassin vines. While not poisonous in any way this does seem slightly odd.
Father Tobryn is dead. He has been for several years in fact. He died in a fire that claimed our old church, and we thought his adopted daughter Nualia. As we discovered almost a year ago however, she had not died. In fact, she was the one who started the fire. Nualia had fallen under the influence of the Mother of Monsters, Lamashtu. As we would later discover this was due to an ancient temple of Lamashtu hidden under Sandpoint. We discovered her survival after a group of goblins attempted a raid on our town during our yearly festival. Those goblins were repelled by a group who would come to be known as the Heroes of Sandpoint. Gudrik as I had mentioned was one of them. A strong but shamed half-orc. Some like the owner of the local store, thought him vile. I found his bluntness insightful. Though he did make it a habit of destroying things unnecessarily. The father chuckle sot himself slightly He made it a habit of breaking down the door to town hall whenever he wished to speak to the mayor. Then there was Bingles Burnabunch. A devout cleric of Sarenre for Magnimar. He did his best to keep Gudrick in check, but he too often reveled in destruction. If you happened to make him mad, he would quickly switch from healing, to lighting you on fire. Bingles also mentored Michael. No last name just Michael. He was a fighter from the north who Bingles eventually convinced to join the church of Sarenre as a holy paladin.
These heroes fount the goblins to a small fortress to the north, and fought Nualia until she was forced to flee.
Our old lighthouse wasn't always a lighthouse. Apparently Mr. Quink, who had gained the unflattering nickname, Mr. Quack, was not crazy when he would ramble on about the lighthouse being a ancient weapon of great power.
Yorik and Elsa survived long enough to teleport to Magnimar, but they were followed by a powerful evil planer being, a deamon I believe, and that was that.
With the last sentence, Father Zantus looks sadly down at his tea and sighs heavily.
Feel free to respond to Father's story in any way you see fit, and give me a perception check ![]()
![]() Father Zantus, upon seeing the large chuncks pushed by some, and then simply lifted by others
The parishioners move out of your way as you move the rubble. Even the other services and some of the other comoshion about town stops to witness your strength. Came then, I have tea brewing in my office. Now that that task is complete I have plenty of time to answer your questions about the dragon, and Father Torbyn, as they are actually slightly related. The father leads you into the central area of the church, the only part with a permanent roof and you enter a large but sparsity furnished office. The room seems rather bare, with a simple woven carpet, 2 small desks, half a dozen chairs and a couch. 1 desk is covered in messy papers, the other is neat and tidy with a small burner boiling a pot of tea. The couch is currently occupied buy a small hunched man, quietly snoring. The father offers you a chair and pours the tea Do not worry about waking Naffer. He has always slept like a rock, and recent events have had him horribly overworked. He is the keeper of our Boneyard. Now then, to answer your question my lady, I unfortunately must first being with his. First however, I do not believe I have the pleasure of your names. I am Father ABSTALAR ZANTUS, and I thank you for your help in this trying time. He takes a drink of the tea. My Elsa did not lie, this is absolutely delicious. For those of you that drink the tea it is absolutely delicious, however something seems slightly odd about it. which you can attempt to determine with craft:alchemy, knowledge Nature, or similar skill. ![]()
![]() Hey, I haven't doubled checked everyone's sheets but I just wanted to make sure you all saw the part about you getting a +5 resistance bonus to saves, so cloaks of resistance are mute. If you didn't feel free to swap out before we really get going, I thought about it because the Muleback cords, one of my favorite cheap items, would come in handy about now.. Just a note, we will call that bonus a supernatural ability. ![]()
![]() Father Zantus watches for a moment as the worshipers move and begin hauling the small rocks out of thier former worship area.
You can all attempt a group strength check, each rolling and adding the total together, with the aid of the worshipers. You try 1 rock at a time or both at once. You can also use any magic or abilities at your disposal to move or break them. ![]()
![]() As you head through town, some of you towards the church, and others in search or answers and wine, not necessarily in that order, you get a true sense of both the battle damage, and the resilience of the people of Sandpoint. Most of these people are not soldiers, and for many the biggest hardship they have faced recently has been which tavern to drink at, but now their peaceful town is in shambles. They however are not. As you walk through town, you see carpenters working on the theater, that had obviously taken several boulders to it's core. TH carpenters were not rebuilding however, but removing, while a man in bright purple robes watched them, dictating a letter Tell them not to send the troup doing the Banshee's call. We will no longer have ropes and scaffolding above the stage. We are ripping all of it out. I envision a grand amphitheater. We are doing open air now. And the programs, all programs will have to be changed. We are not longer simple the Sandpoint theater, this is now The Vanzant! He seems eccentric. Most of what appears to be the town guard is assembled in the middle of town. Their slightly worried eyes fall upon you as you watch, as they stand between a small crowd and men moving something.
DC 20 perception:
The men appear to be moving boxes, kegs, chests, and other valuables from damaged or destroyed buildings. It is all being recorded and placed in the town hall.
Curiously it appears the town hall was also attacked but faired much better than any of the buildings. It's gates and main door appear to be made of heavy cold iron, difficult for anyone to break down even a giant This movement is being coordinated by an older man wearing full plate, and a woman with short red hair. Outside what appears to be a moderately sized tavern you see a woman with wild black hair arguing with 3 men dressed in robes. 2 are older men and 1 is a younger elf. They appear to be arguing over a pile of rusty metal. perception DC 10 to listen: She then heads inside to what appears to be a rather full tavern
How is this not a simple request! yells the woman. All I want is it back the way it was. I too know magic. I know make whole is a spell, and I know oyu can cast it. It's why I brought you here. The elf replies Ms. Kaijitsu, it is well within our power to restore your metal dragon. The casting of make whole is a simple task for us. The issue arises that you wish your dragon only half repaired. You wish it to be whole again, but still rusted, and that will not due. We have a reputation, and we cannot have people think we do shoty work because of your need for
One of the older men speaks nowPerhaps if we repaired the dragon, placed it on top of your tavern, then aged it with spells. Would that be acceptable Amekio replies Fine, do it, then get to work on the houses until the money I paid you runs out. On the north end of town stands the cathedral. While much of the glass is broken and the peak of the cathedral is gone, it's open air no roof construction has provided a unique advantage. despite the devastation, the services at the church can continue. The cathedral is actually divided into 6 sections. Each section is for the worship of a specific god: Abadar, Desna, Erastil, Gozreh, Sarenrae, and Shelyn. THe fallen debris has caused one section, Gozreh, to close due to many large chucks occupying where the pews used to be. Their worshipers are being sent to a small outside worship area by an older man with a short black beard, wearing a plain blue robe, and a small holy symbol of Desna. You hear one of the worshipers call him Father Zantus. Please let me know where you character is headed, and if you wish to stop at any of these possible points of interest. I believe we had 2 headed for the church, 1 headed for a tavern(there are more than the 1 if you wanted to give me a quick knowledge local for tavern info) ![]()
![]() Alright Ladies and Gentlemen. It is that time. First thank you to everyone who made a character, both original for this recruitment, and who was involved in the Original recruitment for rorek55. I greatly enjoyed surveying your character builds and stories. I also enjoyed the answers to my questions. They help me quickly get into the mind of your character, and an idea of how they might function in combat.

![]() (Please read this next word in the voice of the Super Smash Bros. Announcer) Congratulations! Now it's time for the hard work. For an adventure we are going with a modified end of an adventure path, specifically Rise of the Runelords(Sorry if you have played it). The end of an AP was the most popular option, and Runelords is the AP I have the most experience with. I ran in IRL group of 5 through the Anniversary edition as the first thing I ever GM'd in Pathfinder. They died in book 6 before the final boss, and your adventure will exist in the world they molded. Can you succeed where they failed? This adventure begins in Sandpoint, in Varisia. The town came under attack by a raiding party of Stone Giants and a Red dragon about a month ago. Though they were repelled by the fabled "Hero's of Sandpoint" they caused much damage to the town. Half of the great theater is burned down. The top of the Cathedral was knocked down by the dragon. The famed Rusty Dragon Inn, has lost it's rusty dragon, as it was used as a large weapon and dropped on a pair of stone giants. It is up to you 5 if your characters traveled here as a party or separately, but either way, Our adventure will begin just after your arrival in town. Please use this space to decide. I will post the first story post tomorrow or Wednesday where we will begin in earnest. ![]()
![]() Alright everyone. I am in a little later than expected, due to Monday morning issues, but recruitment is now closed. It may take me a while to review everyone's characters, as I did not have enough time to review as many as I wanted this weekend. Expect decision to be made later today or early tomorrow. ![]()
![]() Updated and fixed submission list. We are close to the end now. I'll probably announce winner late on Monday and we will get rolling on the adventure Tuesday or Wednesday. Most people have voted for end of an AP, so I will probably go with that, though modify it a bit so it makes sense for you to start an adventure at the end. ![]() Rosa, correct. I the dragon do not get a will save. Its still very difficult to intimidate the dragon, but not impossible. A creature with less HD and Wisdom would be scared. Saashaa, no reason I juts missed you. I will get you added Father, going to have to stick to you must have the spell. As annoying as it is to not be able to use umd, a scroll, or whatever, at this level if I choose wizard, i could then craft the adimantine Golem ![]()
![]() Alright, I'm confused by the intimidate argument between Rosa,
Point 1: Unless you are using Frightful presence, or a spell there is no will save to demoralize an opponent (see the demoralize section in the link above, it's a flat DC you have to beat, that DC is 10+HD+Wis mod. So for this nice black dragon you have to get an intimidate skill check of over 42(10+26+6). I believe Rosa got a 41 so close but no cigar to scare the black dragon Point 2: Intimidate Unchained. Sorry Rosa, because I love the unchained intimidate rules, but you have to either be a rogue or take the Signature Skill feats. First 3 paragraphs of Intimidate unchained in the link above, and with the rules I copied from the other GM, he barred any class from taking that feat, locking it only to the unchained rogue. Does that make sense or is Rosa using a spell that I missed? ![]()
![]() Updated submission list. Errors should be fixed and new character added. Leinathan - Azorn the Unscathed - Hobgoblin Samuri 10/Kineticist 8//VMC Barbarian

![]() Answers to Questions: GM_Panic: No Hero Points. You'll have to survive by your skill, whit con score, and how poorly my dice usually role. Magnorun: I've never run using those rules but I don't see why not. Just make sure you are familiar with the ins and outs of them, and I will familiarize myself with them as well. Jereru: I actually had not noticed that post in the last thread, but since this is a direct conversion for those who made characters for that one(Even though it is back on). I will go with it as well. TAKE NOTE! You all gain a permanent +5 resistance bonus on saving throws, making cloaks of resistance pointless. If you did purchase one for your character, you can swap it out now, or later if you are chosen I think I got them all. Again let me know if I missed you. Updated submitted character list to come. ![]()
![]() Alright, we are doing good so far. I've tallied a list of all character submissions and listed them out, please let me know if I missed you. if you submitted 2 characters make sure I got both of them. Leinathan Azorn the Unscathed Hobgoblin Samuri 10/Kineticist 8//VMC Barbarian
I'll be adding to the list, tallying questions responses, and maybe making the list look nicer later. Keep it up! remember the deadline for characters is Monday Morning! ![]()
![]() I'm going to agree with rorek55 and go with No on the SLA Saashaa wrote:
I believe that was the only question for me. Let me know if I missed you, looking forward to all the options! ![]()
![]() Rosa Luminass wrote:
Rosa, I went down the rabbit hole of how your sword works and got slightly lost. Can you describe it for me? The devil is bound in the sword making it more of just an extra powerful intelligent weapon. Is that sort of right? We can discuss a way to make that work for you. ![]()
![]() List of changes for those who had made characters for rorek55’s recruitment.
Please also answer the 5 questions. ![]()
![]() Hello Everyone,
Recruitment will end on Monday 7/31 at 9:00AM EST. Up until that point you may make changes to your characters. That’s right there’s an s there. You may submit 2 characters if you wish. I will review them all and post my decisions on 7/31 or 8/1 depending on number of submissions. 27pt buy
posting requirement - 1 Post per 24 hours on weekdays our you will be ignored/botted. In combat you will be delayed, unless it would probably be detrimental to you, in which case I will play you(which is why that Occult class thing above matters). Weekends are more of a post if you can and we will move forward. There will be some weekends I cannot post. For combat expect to use Google drive documents for maps unless I find something I like better. Feats- Power attack, piranha strike, and deadly aim are all free feats for everyone. House Rule: If while attacking you roll a 20, and you roll a second 20 on your confirmation roll, Roll a third time. If it is also a 20 you had a perfect swing/shot. You may choose to either kill the creature you are attacking, or leave it unconscious at -1 HP. Backstory – If you have one great include it, if not, don’t worry about it. A short description of your character personality is fine.
What would you rather play: A slightly modified high level module like WarWitch legacy or the Moonscar, a modified end of an Adventure path such as Rise of the Runelords, or a short original adventure written by a guy that you have no idea if he is any good at that sort of thing or not? Your character walks into a bar. What is the first thing they do? Your character learns that an evil wizard is gathering power to try and invade the country that is the enemy of your native homeland. No one else seems to notice or care. What do you do? Your ally is on the ground unconscious and bleeding out. Standing 5 ft behind their body is a Gargantuan Great Wyrm Black Dragon. You are 35 ft away, and it is your turn. What do you do (with rolls please!) You are given 30,000G. However with it you can only buy 1 non magical thing from Ultimate Equipment. You simply get 30,000G worth of that thing. What do you choose? Please let me know if you have any questions. ![]()
![]() Sorry guys. Work just had me start traveling a lot, and I've started studying for some tech certifications they are offing to pay for. The bad part of that is between driving, studying, and actual work, I don’t have time for much else lately. I dropped my other PBP in hopes of keeping this one going, and my IRL game hasn't played in 2 weeks, and I haven't had the time or energy to post, so I’m going to have to drop as your GM far sooner than expected. KLS did you want to take up the mantle again? ![]()
![]() Van, as you ask, a woman pokes her head around the corner. She is short, and well fed. You recognize her as someone who works in the Rusty Dragon. You remember her serving drink and food, as well as cleaning. Bethana: Hello, I was hoping not to involve the guard, Amekio trusts the rest of you, and you're the Heroes of Sandpoint. Do you trust him? She is obviously motioning at Charde. As she speaks she trembles slightly, something is quite obviously bothering her. ![]()
![]() Sheriff: No Jack, I'm afraid I am here to take you Magnimar for trial. We have delayed far too long on that, and your actions after the fact did little to make it any better. However, in light of your recent actions saving the town from goblins, the Mayor has recommended leniency, and has written a recommendation on your behalf. I'll also be presenting evidence both of your crime, and of your character, which should help you. As for the rest of you, I have a favor to ask. While in Magnimar, I am going to request troops be sent to Sandpoint, as a precautionary measure against more goblin attacks. This however will take time, and I hate to leave Sandpoint without proper protection. I would like to have you assist the guards while I am away. I will leave you with my friend
At this point the Sheriff steps to the side to revile
Sheriff: Apparently there is already a small matter that may require your attention. Bethana, the maid here at The Rusty Dragon, was quite excitable this morning when I entered. I asked if everything was alright, and she said yes, but that she needed to speak with you when you awoke. Jack, prepare your things, I would like to leave immediately. Charde, if you would like introduce yourself. ![]()
![]() You dance and drink late into the night, each one of you retiring when you see fit to your rooms, and drifting off to sleep. The next morning you awaken to the familiar stern tone of the Sheriffs voice. Sheriff Hemlock: Hello, heroes of Sandpoint? I apologize for the early interruption, but I have much business to attend to. The first piece of that business being Jack Churchill. ![]()
![]() Artemis: Sorry Jack, it's funny, but I have to leave too. My father needs to leave early tomorrow too so that we can get more supplies and sell them, traveling merchant business and the like. With Goblin's attacking towns, I can't leave him alone out there, so I have to go with him. So goodbye fellow Heroes of Sandpoint, i'll remember our time together fondly. Especially when we pranked Jack Yesterday morning. Van: Amekio Dances with you for a few minutes, and raises an eyebrow at your comment but says nothing. She quickly has to get back to serving customers however, and the bar is now in full swing. ![]()
![]() Aldern Dances with Van well into the night, but must eventually retire.
With a gentle kiss of her hand, and a bow to the rest of the group Aldern Foxglove makes his exit. ![]()
![]() Hey Everyone, I read you suggestions and I went with Charde Flaskbreaker, the alchemist who will have some barbarian levels, for both ranged and up front damage. It was a tough call between him, the paladin, and the ranger. Please welcome him to our group. Charde, I will roll you in shortly after we finish this night of celebration. ![]()
![]() Sorry for the delay, I got sick over the weekend. You can just PM me if you have a favorite. Ithylia already did. Van did you friends submit a character or do they still want to? I'll post on the thread and tell them I will have a decision by tomorrow. KLS, I honestly don't remember that, I went with pretty much what was on your original requirements post. ![]()
![]() Triel successfully pulls Lonjiku from his feet, and drags him out faster. He tries to resist, but his old age serves him poorly against the "bandit". With the door firmly closed, you can still hear Lonjiku yelling words not meant for polite conversation, until he tramps away. Amekio cries for another moment, listening to the kind words from Triel, and Ithylia. Jack is just standing there, it is now you notice he had drawn his axe, and by the look on his face, it seems he was ready to use it. The rest of the bar is uncharacteristically silent. Amekio: Thank you, both of you Nodding to Triel, and Ithylia, Jack, put it away, I may not like my father, but he is my father none the less. At least there are some in Sandpoint I can rely on. You're welcome to stay another week, free of charge. I'll fetch some dinner, I guess i'll need a well cleaned ladle though, Jackass stew isn't on the menu. The entire bar roars with laughter after her joke, and goes back to drinking. Amekio seems to have calmed down thanks to your words, and the cheer from the bar. She gives your party one last nod, and heads back to work. Alderan: I dare say, I have never been more insulted in all my life. Miss Vanyalanthiriel, do not trouble yourself with the words of a foul craven like that. Mind yourself of only words from more gracious souls, like myself, our hostess Amekio, and your compatriots. He then pulls a fine silk handkerchief from his packet, and offers it to you to wipe the tears from your eyes. Rest assured, when I return to my estate in Magnimar, every noble I meet will hear of the rudeness of Lonjiku Kaijitsu. ![]()
![]() How convenient. I just inherited a 25 point buy runelords PBP. We have already started, but are still early in book 1. The thread is located here if you would like to submit a character.
