Tips from another player [sorry for the spelling and grammar]
The world is low and a little high tech. For PC lay out have a look at mine and the others to give you an idea of what helps the GM.
That battle suit can fast become you coffin. gestalt wise, you need core need, healer+ Class and Fight + other class
Hope that helps
Dear Avalon. I know I have been off of late and not spending the time I should on you. But that's not because of you, no that's because of me. Know that you have done nothing wrong, its just I have meet anther game, younger, more exciting and well, me and her are now very happy. Understand Avalon that when we 1st meet it was fun, then we started seeing each other that to was fun. I never meant this to go as for as it has. I never wanted to hurt you, that was not my wish at all. The thing is that over time we have just grow apart. your needs and mine are just not the same any more.
Yours Cap Wombat. PS you can keep the cat. Sorry to say RL has done it to me again, Im not going to be able to be on here for a long wile guys. Big move ahead life wise. Its been emotional. Good luck all. Wambat.

Here is the basic problem with your posts. Your posting what happens to other players and epic stuff that the school is not only use to but made to deal with. Her are three things I leaned in game wile playing here. 1: You in a school of the super powered, more than a few students are capable of wrecking the whole place. All have limits placed on them harming others, if not they have to leave the school so others can be safe. Think not only about showing your PCs powers but also show how they will be limited. Carl is a case in point, the guy becomes a black whole, not good a on a planet. But the limit on Carl is more powerful. Full outside GM oversight of this power. He dos nothing now unless another GM says in plot its ok. His armbands Epic Artefacts being the in-game mechanic. Think of that as well. Another player has a PC who's voice is so powerful it to can lay wast to the school. Plaid well, a magic device limits his power. Another has a suit, linked to the words. 2: Being a Champion is for a select few who have shown as players they can play one with out lording it over others players. There Champ-powers tend to come into play as part of on going game plots and they tend to be used in context of that alone. 3: try not to state what other PCs do and feel, the best way to keep it simple and what is with in the range of your PC ability. Try not to say "Tim in shock is blasted back by the power wave coming form my PC" Say it like this "If nothing changes may PC lets out a power wave, this may be shocking as my PC showed no sign this was about to happen. If anyone is stood around it it may blast them backwoods." In that way other players have a change to react, show they are not affect, agree they are or even have a power that stops the shock wave before it happens. This is all good as it lets other play there PCs and say what happens to them, even if it affects your PC. The idea is Manners, Courtesy and Respect. Know this, I had to learn all three of the above myself, I leaned a hell of a lot playing here and its been good for me. Some of the players here at some of the best I have ever played with.
Hymn, cool we will do that for background.. You know you could ask the GM if you could use
Race Build point wise. CR1 is more then 11 race points
you get the idea, its also not perfect but.. this is a ball park idea. etc. See if you can make what your after, nice write up Xentik :)
For Xentik:
my thinking is this Xentik wrote: Capt. Wombat: The Skills are actually based on HD and not CR. While a Janni is CR4, it's actually 6 HD, so a Janni/Bard 1 has 7 HD oddly enough, instead of 5. Im taking this as the starting point so that Hymn can level the same as us, or he will be dropping levels later on. From Monsters as PCs For monsters with racial Hit Dice, the best way to allow monster PCs is to pick a CR and allow all of the players to make characters using monsters of that CR. Treat the monster's CR as its total class levels and allow the characters to multiclass into the core classes. Do not advance such monsters by adding Hit Dice. Monster PCs should only advance through classes. If you are including a single monster character in a group of standard characters, make sure the group is of a level that is at least as high as the monster's CR. Treat the monster's CR as class levels when determining the monster PC's overall levels. For example, in a group of 6th-level characters, a minotaur (CR 4) would possess 2 levels of a core class, such as barbarian. Note that in a mixed group, the value of racial Hit Dice and abilities diminish as a character gains levels. It is recommended that for every 3 levels gained by the group, the monster character should gain an extra level, received halfway between the 2nd and 3rd levels. Repeat this process a number of times equal to half the monster's CR, rounded down. Using the minotaur example, when the group is at a point between 6th and 7th level, the minotaur gains a level, and then again at 7th, making him a minotaur barbarian 4. This process repeats at 10th level, making him a minotaur barbarian 8 when the group reaches 10th level. From that point onward, he gains levels normally. But cutting back his HD to match CR, Hymn can than level the same as us.
So as a PC the starting point could be for Janni PC with bard
Janni CR4 PC starting point:
NG Medium outsider (native) Senses darkvision 60 ft. DEFENSE HD 1d10 level [10+10+2d10 + con mods x 4 for game] Race Traits
Race Proficiency's
Race Spell-Like Abilities (CL is HD)
Skills Race class skills
Languages Common*, one elemental language (Aquan, Auran, Ignan, or Terran), one planar language (Abyssal, Celestial, or Infernal); SQ elemental endurance** SPECIAL ABILITIES Telepathy 100 ft. Change Size (Sp)* Twice per day, a janni can magically change a creature's size. This works just like an enlarge person or reduce person spell (the janni chooses when using the ability), except that the ability can work on the janni. A DC 13 Fortitude save negates the effect. The save DC is Charisma-based. This is the equivalent of a 2nd-level spell. Elemental Endurance (Ex)** Jann can remain on the Planes of Air, Earth, Fire, or Water for up to 48 hours at a time. Failure to return to the Material Plane before that time expires causes a janni to take 1 point of damage per additional hour spent on the elemental plane, until it dies or returns to the Material Plane.
you will get a load of skills, and class stuff as Bard Jann :)
Edit -Ninja-ed Yep the Janni was remade to fit the pathfinder system. (6 janni HD + 1 bard HD) * (6 + 3) = 7*9 = 63 skill points ?? should that not be Janni 4CRx(2+3Int) + 1Bard levelx(6+3Int) +levels 5 if added in place of HP= 20+9+5=34 2+int is Monster base and NPC base for skills.
Then its just 5x(6+3) +5 from levels in place of 5HP = 40 Skill ranks to spend.
Could I have a roll call of whos still in for GM Wolf Built PC
Rolled stats + Building PC
Dotting
withdrawn
Seems ok for rolls, bit low compared to others, I see some PCs have two stats at 20. But ok. 5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 3, 5) = 17=13
Thinking Air Element, with a part genii bloodline Sylph Sylphs are quick and insightful, but slight and delicate. They gain +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, and –2 Constitution. {13/15/08/16/14/17} Air Affinity: Sylph sorcerers with the elemental (air) bloodline treat their Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities. Sylph spellcasters with the Air domain use their domain powers and spells at +1 caster level.

mdt: Sorry, I thought you where asking for player feed back and ideas on the whole skills thing. I did not mean to enter an argument with you GM. I was offering up a suggestion that was all. If I have over stepped some line I am sorry. That was not my intent at all. I was genuinely seeking to offer up ideas and nothing more. I will not mention this again. Cap

No you mixed two systems, Pathfinder and traveller. Pathfinder is a skill set for pre-industrial revolution worlds. Traveller: is made of pre-industrial revolution and post industrial revolution worlds stellar community. Where a PC from a low level world may not get high level tech skills, but can go out to other higher tech places and get them. What I am saying is that Tech level moves Craft Skill into Tech/Kno Skills so that what you say next is right in I think a way to deal with this. mdt wrote:
I think we are missing out how ever Profession. Lets take someone who makes Cloths.Pathfinder TL5
now lets look at Traveller Traveller T/Fashion Designer [You know what Fashion is, what to ware, you can design. make, sell clothing and know the manufacturing processes for the faction industry] I think to simply the whole thing just dump Craft, Knowledge and Profession into one skill, no ones from a TL5/6 world.
Being the max TL stuff you can do with that skill.
Simple :)
@Fernán + GM I think you are spending to much Skill points as the GM Said Skills : Use Alien Device is not available at start. Technical Skills require an appropriate background (you can't bulid energy weapons if you're a barbarian). K/Interstellar Law is only available with University Training. House Rules : We will use Pathfinder Skill structures. That means you get the same amount of skill points per level, from 1st to 20th. However, class skills get a +3 trained bonus if you put a point into the skill. Additionally, instead of feats being granted every 3rd level, they are granted every other level. Spot and Listen are merged into the skill Perception (if the class has either, you get it as a class skill). Tumble, Balance, and Jump are merged into the skill 'Acrobatics'. Gather Information, Liason, Trader and Broker are combined into Diplomacy. Move Silent & Hide become Stealth. Read/Write, Speak Language, and Forgery are merged into Linguistics. I think Bribery may be good going into Bluff GM. So +8 Bluff (3 ranks +3 class +2 Cha) (+1 to fool someone)
Would become one Skill, Saving you 2 skill point, that you using 1 on [As you had no Ranks so no +3class] +8 Knowledge (Homeplanet) (+1 rank +3 class +4Int) with 1 rank left to spend as you see fit :)
yes GM, she's Agent Diplomat.
Rapier: A character using a rapier increases their effective Melee (large blade) skill by one level when parrying. Needle Gun:
EDited So taking Set 1 My Noble will start with:
Str - 10
BAB +1 Saves F+1/R+1/W+3 Starting Feats +
Alternate Racial Traits: Silver Tongued:
This PC is a real Jack of all trades, smart as they come. Rapier: A character using a rapier increases their effective Melee (large blade) skill by one level when parrying. Needle Gun:
GM do we get 2 traits and + 1 Drawback for one more Trait?
I think The GM is using this system Characteristics Every person and creature in Traveller has several characteristics that describe their base mental and physical potential. Strength (Str): A character’s physical strength, fitness and forcefulness.
So taking Set1 Class: Noble [Female]
Set 1
As you run up to the finish line a portal opens and dumps you in the meeting room outside the headmasters office where you started this morning. Your just about to cast when the headmasters privet wards dumps you right back again. Landing with a thump. Roll 1d20 and add 2, that's your chance to win roll. Highest of the three of us wins.

Avalon is 90% players interaction and 10% ability and powers. The way to build a PC is look how they can interact with others 1st.Then power gaming/back story. I would rethink the PC, working out how to slowly bring into play back-story etc. Turning up and nuking the place is day one hour one is a bad idea.
OK Had an idea for a none PvP little bit of fun wile Lynora is working. A flying Competition for teams, so they payers can use PCs who are doing not so much at the moment. If your PC cant fly dont worry, this is a school of magic, some one can cast spells on ya :) also you have to make outfits and work out routines. Im seeing lots of piro stuff and smoke bombs. All done in the safety of the sims and its wards. Ill over see it of you need a GM. Up around the school posters go up in 1st class. School Formation Flying Competition Its that time of year again, time for the schools term Formation Flying Competition. Teams of three students are invited to enrol for the flying Competition. Rules:
The theme for this years Competition is "A Lovers Dance" The sim rooms have been programmed with the Competition Air stadium.
Image of aA Giant flying Doughnut with seats, in the plane of air. Is on the poster. students are encouraged to make teams, register below. Then design and practice their routines for this End of week Competition. The winners will get their names placed on the schools flying Cup,
All the best students and get flying routines. All the best and roll up as soon as you can. AVALON school.
OK GM DMT, Read this and looked into it but a bit of frustration trying to work what your after out. I think you need to rethink this and this is why 1: The rule set on line you posted its not complete, Missing PC sheet and lots of back ground info and tech stuff. 2: Then you rolled stats for players. Mistake, why? Well you list Noble as a class BUT Noble- Initial Requirements: A starting character must have Social Standing 16 + to become a Noble. As you did not say payers can move stats around then None of your three roles where over 14 Social. So NO point listing Nobles as a class as no player can have them. 3: You picked a space game then dumped the space part. It may be better to go with pathfinder with some DnD Modern/Future in there. http://dmreference.com/MRD.htm http://dmreference.com/MRD/Future.htm http://dmreference.com/MRD/Future/Mecha.htm Simple for a NONE space flying and fighting game with Mecha's.
As it stands I think the interest may be low, a rethink may get your numbers up. Cap |
