True enough, I just posted that so I can make sure that no one has anything planned for current actions.

Glad to be back posting! :)

Feel free to take whatever actions you wish or just let me know that you want to roll with whatever comes up and we shall continue!

The golem begins ponderously approaching the main building with the assassin and the Half-Ogre in tow.

Everyone still ready to go?! :)

No it isn't, Wade. I have been incredibly busy getting everything finished for college reapplication since my medical issues have gotten more manageable and several other things. That said, we are resuming.

The golem exits the Warden's tower with the prisoners still in tow. The parapets have guards patrolling, though a few seem distracted.

Just giving you a general timeline of things.

Other portion of the group? Got that plan about ready? Prisoners are incoming within just a few in-game minutes! Obviously not in a few real-life minutes lol.

The golem does not even acknowledge Elara, nor does it respond to her poking it.

Miri lets out a haughty laugh at Vincent's words and begins speaking like a cultured noblewoman, "Acting, dear boy? Acting is such a... coarse term. Fulfilling a role sounds much more appropriate for someone of my talents, yes". Miri then kneels down before Vincent and grasps at the hems of his clothing, a look of severe emotional turmoil appears on her face with tears rolling down her eyes, as she whimpers out, "P-please, spare me sir! I have a family, I have children! I won't tell a soul, honest!". She then stands up, wipes the tears from her eyes, and smirks as she speaks in her normal, husky voice, "Good enough acting for you?"

Rosealita, I have replied in discussion. Please look and reply there.

The Warden scowls at the three prisoners, "I am not blind, I see clearly. I remember how 'humane' the Ogre Wars were, how villages were slaughtered by his kind. Half-blood or full makes no difference, as he readily proves that his kind is beyond redemption. I tire of this conversation, however." The Warden touches a stone amulet worn around his neck, which begins to glow, "Golem, take the prisoners to the guards that they may be caged like the animals that they are." The golem, made of some strange porous stone, nods and begins to drag the prisoners off.

The two of you may safely speak to each other now if you so desire, since you are out of the Warden's earshot.

The old man stands and walks towards Elara and Mek/Rek, speaking as he does so while making hand gestures as he does so, "A fair point, assassin. The two... my apologies, the THREE of you are all monsters, judged by the holy courts of Talingarde and condemned to die for your heinous crimes."

He begins pacing around Elara and Mek/Rek, but the giant golem keeps them restrained, forcing them to listen to him further, "Well spoken for a beast, aren't you? I actually DO want to hear what the three of you have to say, at least in regards to your crimes. Do any of you have remorse for your sins? Any shame whatsoever? The honorable King Markadian has asked me to personally perform the executions of you three and the rest of the prisoners, so I would like to offer you the chance to die with your souls clean before your last three days are at an end."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Markus chuckles nervously, "T-that's presuming he doesn't incinerate us first. Richter used to be known as the Firebrand and was a powerful wizard in the past. That was before much of his arcane power was stolen by his wayward apprentice, but he is still not to be trifled with."

Glad to be back, Elara!

Miri bashes the lock a few times with the pommel of her dagger until the lock breaks and a 'click' is heard. No point in even rolling, since no hostiles are nearby and enough hits would break it anyway. She then smirks and opens the lockbox bear in mind, it is technically a strong box, so it is fairly large, revealing a case 6 bottles of a cheap and rotgut but extremely potent whiskey known labeled Sinner's Tongue, a large amount of golden coins 1,235 GP, to be precise, and a recipe scribbled on a piece of paper entitled 'Sleep Medicine', which details mixing Sinner's Tongue Whiskey with faint traces of Belladonna to make a powerful sleep concoction.

Markus whispers to Vincent, occasionally turning to eye nearby people. You have a reply, Vincent! Check your box.

Elara, Mek/Rek, and Maven's character The sentry golem has taken you to the top of the Warden's tower at Branderscar prison. The drafty tower air causes your recently created runic F brands, denoting your status as Forsaken, to feel as if it were being branded again. You ascend a staircase and walk into the Warden's office. You look to the left, right next a massive bookcase, and see a golden plaque that reads Justice cometh and that right soon.. You look to your right and see an ornate check with some sort of glowing lock on it. You then look forward and, sitting at a desk before a stained glass window depicting Mitra as the 'Bringer of Justice', is an old man dressed in a garb reminiscent of the guards, but of much higher quality, trimmed with golden thread. He stares at you with his steely blue right eye, his left eye covered in a black eye patch, his face an impassive mask. He speaks to you both, his voice somber and without an ounce of weakness, "The assassin and the monster, I presume? Elara and... Mek, or is it Rek?".

Once all the new players check in here, I will post their intro!

Well? Going to get someone to smash the lock, Veldrin?

Jaq, go ahead and make introductions between Dierdre and the others, if you will.

New recruits will be showing up for the campaign soon!

Ok, here are the selections for my campaign and RVT's!

Blade of Heaven's Re-Recruitment Selections
1. Mek/Rek, played by Seranov
2. Elara, played by Professor Calvinball
and
3. Andir, played by So_AMaven

Shield of Righteousness' Selections
1. The Red Ledger, played by Mwiba Kichaka
2. Tykath, played by Tirion Jordhar (How do you add umlauts on your letters, by the way? My keyboard has no option for it!)
3. Captain Woodes Rogers, played by Wivvy
4. Burns, played by HighonHolyWater
5. Cedric Calzir, played by Rorek55
6. Luna Aurial, played by Nidoran Duran

Those I have selected, proceed to my campaigns discussion thread!

Those RVT has selected, she shall be by within 24 hours to point you to her campaign thread!

This was a REALLY hard decision to make, because there were so many good applicants! It ended up being who would 'fit' the campaigns best, which was itself a difficult enough task. Best of luck to you all in finding a campaign!

Crap, why did I post that? Yes, Albrecht was the paladin, Jon is the Barbarian. I feel like an idiot now lol.

Retconned!

"The standard protocol for when a horn is blown is for guards to strategically converge on the area surrounding where the horn was blown and do a systematic sweep. Given that there hasn't been many horn-blowings, probably one since I have worked here, I'm not sure how fast the guard could coordinate."

Veldrin, you are correct for the most part. Jaq is correct in that he went into room 15, which is where the lockbox came from that you were planning on using Ray of Frost on. You wanted to explore the storeroom armory first, remember?

Jaq, Jon's body was, indeed, in the Great Hall Entry.

I think the main issue with the confusion is how the rooms were numbered in the book. It seems almost arbitrary.

Nidoran, as a player and/or as a character.

Great answers everyone!

As a note, there is an opportunity for those who do not get selected (No, I haven't made selections yet,) to indulge their desire for a wicked AP. Full details of this will, very likely, be released on Sunday after selections!

Ok everyone, serious face time! I would like for everyone, if they will, to write a short, two-paragraph-or-less (Preferably,) statement of why you want into WotW, what you bring to the table, and other such things. Hopefully, this will make my job of making selections a bit easier!

Red Ledger, you mentioned that you were unsure of a class? The Psychopath class seems to fit well.

Seranov, which dude? :P

Mirri and Markus riffle through the weapons, trying to find something of use. Mirri picks up the comb shank with a chuckle and Markus picks up the heavy mace, testing it's heft.

Vincent carves numerous jagged Abyssal runes in the paladin's headless corpse, successfully mimicking a demonic sacrifice. He does, however, deliberately botch the last rune, so that it would 'explain' why the 'summoning' went awry.

Wivvy, I have seen both and get the references! I love both of the shows!

HighonHolyWater, yes.

Everyone else, sounds good!

Veldrin, nope!

Grumblejack nods and exits the room, returning in about a minute bearing the paladin's dead body, which he plops onto the ground. While Jaq prepares the ritual, Grumblejack takes the opportunity to smash the furnishings of the room, causing wood splinters to fly in several directions and making the room REALLY look like an angry demon tore it apart! He bellows a maniacal laugh as he does so.

Veldrin examines the scepter further. The magic energy seems to be some sort of holding magic, but the magic seems almost gone from the object, with mere wisps on energy flowing over the weapon.

The scepter acts as a +1 Light Mage that can, by expending 1 charge, cast Hold Person as a full-round action. The save is made at +5 and the caster level is only 3, due to the weakened magic of the item. It currently sits at 2/5 charges, also due to the weakened condition of the item. I'm sure one of you can find a use for such an item, no?

Sure lol!

Veldrin picks up and examines the plain wooden scepter, which appears to be made out of ashwood, intent on determining it's magical properties... but fails to do so.
Missed it by 1!

Veldrin peers into the room. It is nearly identical to the one he is currently in, save for the room's contents.

Inside the room appear to be several items of use. On a long table of some dark wood, there are six spare sets of gear for guards, composed of chain shirts, heavy steel shields, long swords and longbows. There is also a rack holding a dozen leather-wrapped clubs.Further, there is also a stockpile of 240 arrows in twelve quivers hanging from hooks in the wall. These items (save for the arrows and the clubs) all seem to bear the mark of Talingarde somewhere on them.

There is also a motley assortment of weaponry that the guards have apparently confiscated over the years, laying on another table adjacent to the one previously noticed. These weapons are jumbled together and obviously little cared for. They are unmarked, unlike the other weapons in the armory. That assortment includes: a shiv made from a women’s metal comb, a heavy mace, spear, quarterstaff, battle axe, rapier, great sword, trident and glaive. On the wall, a small scepter sits, hung by its wooden crook, it's shape reminiscent of the shape Veldrin saw when he scanned for magical auras.

Markus' eyes go wide, as if it had been a while since he had seen that much gold, "T-thank you, Mr.d'Shraen! That's about a year's worth of pay! Mitra... I mean, fortune bless you!" The man places the gold into the nearly empty pouch at his hip. "What do you intend to do, once you have escaped?"

Of course you can! Feel free to introduce yourself as well, if you wish!

Markus stammers out an answer, still somewhat nervous about the ways things are panning out, "A-about twenty or thirty more guards, some warhounds, and the Warden, of course. Any reinforcements would take a full day to get here, assuming someone was able to send a message with a c-courier. There's no other way to get aid, but there's never been a problem with handling prisoners before, I mean uh, before you all!"

Veldrin observes the armory door and discovers no magical auras upon it. A faint magical aura lies beyond it, however, so small as to be almost inconsequential.

Ok, folks who were interested in looking at all those crazy options for Psychopaths, Torturers, and Antipaladins, look in this page, under Tome of Wicked Things, Redux. Bear in mind that these files have been set-up as read-only so that sticky issues like copyright do not rear their heads, so you may wish to bookmark the page if you intend to reference it. Of course, I highly recommend actually purchasing the book if you use the material, because LRGG makes great stuff and could use the support!

Ashe, selections will be made on Sunday, time of which is more than likely going to be after noon, East Coast USA time (Can never remember the proper name for this time zone, it seems,).

Mwiba Kichaka, I love the reference! Also, something being marked red in a ledger is symbolic. Check out what I mean via Google lol.

Veldrin walks over to the door and notices that there is no lock on it! Perhaps the guards assumed that no one would be able to make it past the lock on the storeroom itself?
Does the Veldrin open the door?

At Vincent and Jaq's words, Grumblejack chuckles again, "Oi there lads, I think I can help a bit with that. Hows about I smash up his lil office a bit? I can make it LOOK like a blasted demon tore through there!"

Don't worry Vincent, I'm not too concerned about it. Everyone else has been a tad bit busy too and I've got a new recruitment up for the campaign, so those 3 spots are filled.

Eyes attuned to the arcane, Veldrin scans the storeroom. The room is devoid of any sort of magical auras.

Tirion, you don't have to have an undead template! You may take that later, at the appropriate time. You may substitute rapier and spiked chain in Swashbuckler references.

Cedric, you mean ANTIpaladin? A Paladin will probably not last beyond, say, the first few rounds before it is torn apart by its compatriots! :P

Dragonflyer1234, yes, you may take Pathetic as a flaw.

Ashe, yes, Shaky is fine.

Seven.teen, I was confused for a moment when I read your profile for fluff. I realize now it's for another game!

Elara, indeed it did!

Seranov, I will allow that with the weapons. And I like the logic on your character!

Seth86, that works.

ATTENTION EVERYONE! I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT, IF YOU ARE STRAPPED FOR FEATS AND DO NOT MIND A BIT OF EXTRA RP, YOU CAN TAKE AN OLD 3.X FLAW AND GET A FREE FEAT! YOU MAY ONLY TAKE UP TO 2, BUT YOU MUST ASK IF YOU MAY USE THE FLAW FIRST AND IF YOU TAKE 2, THE PENALTY FOR ONE OF THE NUMERIC VALUES IS DOUBLED! A LIST OF SAMPLE FLAWS CAN BE FOUND FLAWS!

Seranov, you may definitely swap out Broken Blade for Black Seraph! Due to the flavor of the Discipline, I thought it would have been open for ALL of the Path of War classes!

Nidoran, I allow for Antipaladins of ANY evil alignment! I have rules for each!

Nidoran, that is fine!

Seranov, that is acceptable!

Dragonflyer1234, who's to say that might not happen? Unlikely, but hey, it's a chance lol!

Seranov, it does not count as being extra, because it does not originate from one of their heads. I've always viewed Devastating Blast as one of those 'blasts energy from an outstretched hand' sort of thing. And the Graveknight template will not be taking up ANY levels, because everyone will be receiving either a commensurate template or else some boon of equal power. As for your other question, yes and yes. Flavorwise, heavy armor is typical Graveknight fare, but light armor is permissible.

HighonHolyWater, ah, my mistake!

Nidoran, no point in taking the vampire feats, because at some point your character can gain a free template or commensurately powerful boon!

Wade, referring to the advice part. Unless it's NOT on the SRD, I'm sure people have already seen it and simply do not think it is as appealing of an option.

Seth86, ah, I see lol!

PEOPLE WANTING TO TAKE LEADERSHIP, READ THIS FIRST!
As far as Leadership, here's the rub on that. The party will, at a certain point in book 2, communally receive the benefits of the Leadership feat for their Evil Organization. All of the followers from that communal leadership, as well as any excess undead creations, hired mercs, ect. will be added to the Minion Pool, which helps their Evil Organization grow in power and wealth. Also, the PCs can make minions go on 'missions', which works sort of like Assassin's Creed follower missions, where they disappear for a length of time, a roll is made wherein they succeed or fail, and the party either reaps a boon or bane (Treasure or those minions dying and being removed from the minion pool, for example,). If you take your own Leadership feat, all of your followers are added to this pool, save for your cohort, which becomes a Favored Minion, sort of like Grumblejack the Ogre. These can be given special missions with potentially big rewards. Not only that, but the party can take FMs with them (Usually this is restricted to 1 FM in the group per chapter, but in some cases, can be more,). Favored Minions can also be 'upgraded' by completing certain unique side quests that fit seamlessly within the campaign itself. It's a rather unique mechanic that I am quite proud to have made, because it makes the game feel very 'organic' (Not literally, that would be odd,).

Seth86, Veldrin and Jaq are both very diplomatic characters, though you can check with them and see what their thoughts on the matter are. I rather like the combination though!

Feral, oh I know, but I remember you from the recruitment! I have a good memory most of the time lol. It doesn't look like everyone is going to be a vampire, but vampires are a thing in WotW. I can't tell you more, due to spoilers, but if you want to play one, it's not out of the ordinary.

HighonHolyWater, nothing like a good pyromaniac lol! I actually have a Pyromancer class and the Elemental Lich template, if you would like to peruse those (Former for class, latter for future idea,).

Edward, I still have all the information. Summoner/Sorceror with lots of FIRE! Correct? :)

Cole, that is fine! So long as you don't post 10 characters or something, there shouldn't be an issue. Also, just curious, are you referring to the Paizo Nosferatu or the Highborn Nosferatu I was mentioning to the group? The former is the dirty, primordial vampire strain, the latter is basically Dracula (Regenerates in moonlight, is unharmed by daylight even though it strips the vamp of supernatural powers until they rest, ect.,).

Seranov, it's not too bad of a power level... about on par with a Drow, which I am fine with. The template in place of the first 1/2 of the gestalt at level 1 is fine! Also, if you get selected, I have an idea for the dragon part of your character's background. Also, let me dig through the character recruitment and make sure. I THINK it wasn't changed.

Cam, how fares the Kommander these days? I haven't spoken with him in a while. I'm sorry to hear it hasn't been the best of times for him. :( I THINK I've got a few other templates for poisonous creatures. I know that I have the Ermodenung template from Ravenloft, but am unsure of any others. Would you like to look at those? There's also the Fumigator archetype for the Alchemist, a toxin-based archetype from Pure Steam, if you want to give that a look-over.

Wade, unless it's not listed on the SRD, I'm sure people have seen it. I thought we had this conversation before? :P

Tirion, as of about half an hour from now, you will have 5 days. That's plenty of time for fluff! Also, I have a Torturer class you can look at, but it only uses a whip.

Nidoran, Somatic Weapon is fine as a feat.

IMPORTANT NOTE! ON FRIDAYS, I MAY NOT POST AS MUCH DUE TO FNM! MTG PLAYERS, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

Feral, RVT will be posting soon. She was busy creating characters for my campaigns, but decided she was to busy to create one for all of them. Which campaign of hers are you in? You seem familiar, so it's either RC or CC. As for your questions: Veldrin- Male Drow Necromancer/Oracle, Jaq- Male Aasimar Inquisitor/Summoner, and Vincent- Male Tiefling Alchemist/Ranger are the current party members, vamps have a pretty good presence in ANY WotW campaign but mine especially, and I look to post 1-4/day, with 2 being more likely, followed by 1 or 3, but 4 being possible on days I don't have much to do.

Edward, I'm still a little squicky about having 2 Summoners in the party, all things considered, but I may consider it. Still waiting on Sophia in ZG, by the way.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! THE PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATE FOR SLOT 4 HAS ANNOUNCED SHE WILL NOT BE PLAYING AT PRESENT! SO A TOTAL OF 3 SLOTS ARE OPEN FOR WOTW!

Ok, time to answer some questions before bed!

Elara, that or a Swarmshifter Undead or possibly a Living Hive. All of those are possibilities. Now, you don't startout with templates when the game commences, but everyone has the opportunity to claim a template or a powerful boon of some sort later.

Seranov, I LOVE Dreamscarred Press PDFs! Anything they produce for Pathfinder is something you can automatically assume is permissible! What's an Oggr? Is that some subspecies of Ogre? And Graveknight is definitely doable. I will, obviously, need info on your chosen element if you are selected, because the ritual would be VASTLY different, depending on which element you choose. They're all agonizingly painful for your character to undergo, obviously.

Wivvy, as it just so happens, I have a book detailing a class called 'The Psychopath', which seems to match up with your character just fine. Want a look at it in Google Docs?

Wade, Warlocks are permissible.

To the people I haven't addressed, I am not ignoring you, I am just watching your progress. I generally don't reply as much in recruitments unless I am asked specific questions or I feel I can point out something fairly cool.

So_AMaven, glad Monkey and I could lure you to the messageboards, because it's where the cool people are! ;P

Vincent and Jaq?

THREE IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT THE GAME!

1. The campaign is set in a modified Golarion, where Talingarde is off the coast of Taldor.

2. The 'mysterious benefactors' of the PCs are not solely Asmodeans, so any type of evil is fine.

3. Monsters and monstrous templates are allowed. One character plans on becoming a Half-Fiend, whilst another is contemplating either lich-hood or vampirism. Don't worry about balance, I'll handle that. I've been playing TTRPGs based on the 3.X/PF systems for around 14 years, so I know to balance things. My only caveat is don't pick anything too powerful right off the bat, unless you can justify it to me and I decide it's doable via level-delaying, penalties, or something like that.

Esan, what would his gestalt class be?

Calvin/Elara, you can dip any number of levels, as per the normal rules, but once you place a class on either side of the gestalt, you cannot move it. For example, if you are a Rogue3/Wizard3 and you add another level of Rogue to the left side and a level of Assassin to the right, you always have to take Assassin levels on the right side. Get it? It's mainly to prevent a rarely-seen problem that would take a few paragraphs to explain, with lots of numbers. Also, Betrayal Feats are allowed, but any PCs must be fine with their use, because inter-party conflict is bad even in an evil campaign. As for any followers you may have, however... that's quite permissible.

Cedric, sounds good to me!

HighonHolyWater, no specific roles, just do not overlap too much on existing PCs. Veldrin is the party necromancer (Oracle/Wizard), Jaq is the deceiver and blasphemer (Inquisitor/Summoner), Vincent is sort of a 'nonmagical ranged expert'(Alchemist/Ranger), and the 4th member is creating a character, type unknown. If the party lacks a key facet, they are always recruitable minions, such as the Ogre named Grumblejack, who has already been 'scouted', so to speak.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Exactly as the intro says.

The game is a gestalt campaign, very high powered on both sides, with mythic ranks coming later in the campaign. Obviously, enemies are ramped up as well and there will be no such thing as 'puny bosses'.

The group is not very far, only about 1/3 of the way out of the prison. If you join, you will be one of the new prisoners processed and will be able to escape in the chaos to come.

I am mainly interested in seeing basic information on the character right now, so class/race/gender/fluff, ect. Information on how to build stats will be sent to those who are accepted, I just don't want people to completely build a character, then have it not be accepted, because it kind of sucks for that to happen.

The gameplay thread is HERE, so look it over and see if you like things thus far.

I will leave recruitment open for a week, after which time I will make my selections.

EDIT: As a note, I had several health and technical problems, which is why you see the game shut down and start up so erratically. Those problems are pretty much fixed, so don't worry about it affecting the campaign any further.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them!

Vincent, I was planning on any new PCs already being at Branderscar, being processed through the system, so they can join us at an appropriate time, which is to say, whenever we are ready for them. That said, continue is my preference.

Veldrin and Vincent begin opening the chests, barrels, and other containers in the storeroom, carefully noting their contents. In one large chest, there are several dozen torches carefully stacked on top of one another, perhaps over 100 200, if you count them. In another, there are several guard uniforms neatly folded into place 6, if you count them. In still another, lies several sturdy leather backpacks, emblazoned with the seal of the Markadian Dynasty, with several pouches and pockets each 10, if you count them.

Vincent runs the spigots on the two kegs and what appears to be whale oil for lanterns runs out, the trademark smell and greasiness of the substance making it obvious both kegs are 10 gallon containers of lantern oil. He also opens the barrels lining one of the walls and catches a whiff of the moldy, maggot-ridden, and rotten iron rations for the prison. Judging from the state of the food, no one has even touched this stuff for years, nor cared to replace it.

Any INT check not a natural 1... lol:
Food this decomposed is surely diseased and, while it could fill one's belly, it could also fill one with disease as well.

You can join the second recruitment when it's up, but no guarantees.
