I think the 'random crit toasts a character' happens a bunch for L1 PFS. I lost one of my favorites (ported into PFS from 3.5) to a crit from a lizardman in a bar - wasn't supposed to be a real threat, but a weird fluke had him toast my poor Aesantiel.

I could have taken a melee touch attack as a free action along with the spell, but I held it, hoping for a 'sure attack' next round. It's still pending, since I did miss that 'sure attack'.

@Tarondor - spell combat is 1st level. Second level is spellstrike, which allows delivery of touch spells with a melee weapon - if I had that, I would have rolled damage for the corrosive touch as part of the kama attack.

...and yes, y'all are absolutely correct that Flinkae was trying to flip over a railing that was, in fact, a wall; and that rather than attempting to hurl himself out of the tower...

With gusto and enthusiasm comes a neglect of tecnique, and Flinkae stumbles badly on this verse.

With a dearth of distractions, and a dearth of shuriken, Flinkae concentrates on executing the hymn he had originally identified. He ignores the direction from the woman onthe floor for the moment, feeling no confidence that she shares their desired outcome. Round 7

what, no suriken damage on A? I think they're getting used to the pin-pricks. The pin-pr!@%$ Flinkae continues to maintain the hymn, still mindful of the remaining marauding undead. Flinkae appears to be working hard to keep up with Slachagok's madcap attack in the high registers. Round 6
'I may need more shuriken soon. could be difficult. Must save one as an example, perhaps commission copies.' Distracted by considerations of ammunition depletion rates, and stunned by Slachagok's virtuoso performance, Flinkae misses the beat of the bass.

Flinkae continues to peck out the tune to hymn #492. He barely hangs on as he slides in a minor progression with a half-tone (black key), but the end result meshes to continue the ominous hymn. Round 5
Note: I'm considering that the embarrassing acrobatics check is a success, because Flinkae is on one key, and moving to a second, and just barely hit the DC5 from the earlier post.

@slachagok - if you want to play, and have an interest in the scenario, you can take a pre-built. you can apply the credit to either a 1st level (with lots of limits), or hang onto it to apply once a character reaches the same level as the pre-built. Personally, I've taken a liking to the pre-gen rogue (Merisiel). :) @Iason - thanks for the positive reviews on Flikae, this is his premier. And backatcha - I'm enjoying Iason and Etrigan more than I have any previous summoner. so - Smooth Stone Chest. Aside from responding well to avian incubation, what was the trick on that one? Was it a matter of passing a will save when opening the lid, to avoid the persistent illusion that it remained closed? Intrigued at Guido's apparent progress, Flinkae approaches, cocking his head in fascination at the ever-so-faint clack of the tumblers. Flinkae takes a moment to settle on top of the Smooth Stone Chest, seeking to find a posture, a position, to incubate it as an egg. Flinkae doesn't actually think it will work, but it's something to do with the large gray object, to get familiar with it while his mind works for alternatives.

"Illusion and abjuration, you say, Slachagok? Deceptive, possibly. Intriguing." Flinkae sets out a number of alternative ways of exercising different ways of perceiving the Smooth Stone Chest, looking for inconsistencies in the modess of perception. Flinkae closes his eyes, performing these explorations blind. He hums through his beak, laying it on the chest to cause the chest to vibrate, then follows the vibrations through the chest with his hands. Flinkae spins the chest at different angles. He makes predictions, and pours water on one side of the chest, determining where the water will run on the chest, and perceiving it by touch (as well as hot/cold - the water should be cool). I'm hoping it's necessary, so here's a (possibly gratuitous) Will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for disbelief.

Flinkae, feeling like a stork trying to drink from a shallow bowl (or a fox from a fluted vase...), looks closely at the script on the Holed Chest, with some hope that his collection of esoteric languages might find some use. "Challenge very like Osirian temples. I always preferred chopping walking dead." Flinkae speaks: Celestial, Common, Infernal, Osiriani, Tengu, Vudrani. I don't think it will actually do any good, but it's worth putting out there.

"We will gladly accept six thousand gold crowns to help ensure your ongoing business. Not necessary though. Good for you - we're already working the case. Just the information will suffice. Absalom not burned to the ground good for your business. Small token of our work already." And Flinkae unfolds the sash with the Black Echelon unit token.
