Flik scowls down at the offending trap, then backs up a few steps to get a running start ... leaping across to the other side. (Current speed and Acro bonus means a success even on a 1.) His momentum carries him easily across the pit trap, where he pinballs off the wall and door before stabilizing himself, then running his same routine on the door in front of him. Just pressing on, I guess. :)

Flik shrugs and follows the massive tiefling … albeit in a more circuitous route. On the way, he whispers a dark word, slowing the huge opponent’s reflexes as he closes. Then his tiny blade flashes out, seeking the creature’s soft, exposed joints.

Hopefully the rat-man cast Vanish instead of Invisibility, but either way... Flik nods and helps the massive long-legs locate and identify the different invisible appendages. As they work, the goblin looks up through red eyes ... first at Jing and then over at Isaac. "Flik is'ing glad to being on this team for first fight." The red eyes open even wider ... threatening to completely overwhelm his scarred face, "... not to wanting to have to been froze and smashed to bits like thosing long-legs over there." Otherwise ... Flik waits for Jing's go-ahead before pressing on as I outlined above.

Ouch, Jing. Words hurt, man. ;P Flik blinks as a bit of leftover sleepy magic washes over him. Then he gets to work pulling a length of silk rope from his pack ... which he tosses to the massive tiefling. "Tying mouse-man up. No reasons to be risking lies." Then the goblin goes back to work, quickly checking this room for traps before looking at whatever doors this other crew didn't seem to go through. Back to business as usual. Flik will be taking 10 on Perception and Stealth, activating Detect Magic as they move from room to room, looking for both the wandering monster and the flag. I guess a map update would be nice, but at this point—since we're not racing the other party anymore—the path taken isn't as important so long as we're always exploring new areas. Let's just move forward with Flik on point, uber-percepting for traps, secret passages, and listening at doors for threats. Also, altogether, how long have we been in the dungeon?

Flik scurries after the fleeing, invisible opponent, drawing his wicked scimitar and watching for traps on the way. ”Notting to have much reason to keeping mouse-man conscious,” he says in a singsongy voice. ”Butting to have no reason to making mouse-man 'sloded, either.” Flik stops by the rat-folk and points directly at him for his teammates’ sake. ”Knocking him out?” ___________________

Since we just got the round 2 wrap up post from Jelani, I'm guessing he just had a busy day yesterday. Though I guess its possible that Jelani updated the other team's thread yesterday, has only just now updated ours, and we actually have been waiting on the rat. That just seems less likely.

Flik's wearing a spiked gauntlet, so he should be threatening. Should he have gotten an AoO when the Tiefling cast his spell? It'd be nice to save the net and damage, if possible. Flik giggles gleefully as a second long-legs crumples under the vicious whirling three-section staff. As the rat-thing vanishes, Flik ejects a scroll from his wrist sheath and activates it with a word. Between his new invisibility-piercing sight and his arcanically-enhanced sniffer, he tries to locate the final opponent and point it out to his teammates. ______________
Using See Invisibility and Bloodhound (Scent), Flik locates and moves next to the rat-folk (and behind him in relationship with Jing, if movement allows), calling out his position with a wicked, "He's here! He's here! SPLODE HIM!"

Okay, then I'll go ahead and finish my round. Trying to lock down the caster was the goal, anyway. Flik switches direction and steps adjacent to the unaware mage, pulling out one of his nets on the way ... which he quickly hurls at the tiefling, uttering a dark prayer at the same time. ________

Yah, as a spell trigger magic item, I didn't think activating a wand required speech (or anything other than the knowledge of the spell being triggered). Kind of makes the whole attempt that much less effective. :/
Biting off curses at the sounds of his own loud teammates preparing in what—to him—is a near-deafening audible level, Javi checks the door for traps or locks, then opens it and rushes invisibly through. ___________

Cool. Then second round is… Seeing his teammates similarly preparing, Flik draws a scroll and—in as quiet a voice as he can manage—activates it, immediately vanishing from view. ________
I'm hoping they remain unaware (though our activating the wands may change that), and I can open the door and get into the room before they can react. If that happens, DM Jelani, I'd love to be able to see the map to make the best use of that move action. :)

Few ... it payed off here (hopefully). Flik grins wickedly back at his teammates and holds a finger up in front of his lips. Then he points through the door, holds up 3 fingers with one hand and makes his other hand do a mouth talking sign. (Like a duck's beak opening and closing.) Then he presses one hand emphatically on the door, then with the other one, indicates some distance on the far side of the door. Then he draws out a vial from his bandolier and a scroll from one of his scroll cases. Then he mouths to the group. Prepare. Signal when ready. Then he drinks the vial and holds the scroll, waiting for the group's ready signal. _________

Jing Long wrote: No worries. If I was on the other team I would be breaking the doors down and setting off traps :) Yah, I'm hoping they're taking the same approach, actually .. and that it'll give us a heads-up when we get near them. Being able to fight on our terms could be key to this whole thing. And hopefully that approach (if they're taking it) is going to slow them down a bit. But let's be honest, if even one of them is built for mega-strength (which is likely a safe assumption), bursting through doors is likely as easy (or easier) than disarming them. I guess we'll see.

Oof. Good to know. It’s at least validating that I spent the gold on that Elixir. :) Flik’s red eyes widen briefly at the nearly-missed trap, then he growls out a few choice goblin curses at the trap’s stubbornness. ”Notting to liking that one. Maybe other team is’ing to getting ‘sploded on their own, no?” He steps through the door, noting the door to his immediate north, and quickly checking it for traps and locks before holding up a finger for patience to his team members. "Waiting right here. Flik is for checking other traps before group is moving through this door." Then he skulks around the hall’s bend, checking the full immediate area—including the door at the eastern end—for traps. Unlike in previous areas, Flik intends to keep any traps in this hall (other than any found on this initial northern door) active. Us knowing about them but leaving them in play could become a boon if we need to fall back and get tricksy. Also, it should be noted that these standard searches should include searches for secret doors or passages, as well.

What are the lighting conditions? The goblin stands in the room, blinking off the teleportation disorientation, his comically-large red eyes drinking in any light of the room as they swiftly range the room and then the other two occupants. He's a hideous little bugger, even for one of his kind ... and small to boot. A smallness made distinct by the surprisingly heavy-looking adventuring pack on his back, a pair of blades, and the bow and quiver hanging from him. He touches a tiny, spiked-gauntletted hand to his chest ... a quick, jerky movement. "Flik." Then he begins rummaging through his pack, drawing out three vials and drinking them in rapid succession. His red eyes seems to dilate, his posture eases under his burdens, then the tell-tale inaudible hum of magic races over the little guy's unarmored gray skin. Then he hikes his shoulders and looks at you both with barely veiled contempt. "Flik scout. Long-legs is'ing stay back until Flik is making this sound." He makes a distinct three tsk sound. "If'ing Flik making no sound, wait longer. If'ing Flik scream like human child, come to getting Flik." He bares a shark's maw of teeth in what must be a grin before continuing. "Flik is'ing to mark doors as'ing we pass. All close to floor in chalkings. One mark is'ing to mean Flik has gone through door. Not come back yet. Two mark is'ing for Flik has checked door and door notting to go nowhere useful. Dead end or something. Three markings is'ing to say DONT GO THIS WAY." He shrugs, "Trapping or some such." He pauses and looks at you both, making sure you understood. "Flik is'ing to win this. Try notting to getting long-legs killed on the way." A second shark-grin. Then he moves to the door, checks it for traps, and presses his ear against it. ____________

Hey, team. I was thinking through Jelani's request for "marching orders" in case the scout or group inst' online to keep the action moving forward. When playing an actual dungeon, I usually use a systematic approach ... either always taking left avenues to their completion before moving on to the right (or doing the same to the right). Given the competitive nature of this game, however, that might not ethe smartest way to try to find the flag. I'd suggest we have a running directive of "always try to be moving towards what we think is the center of the dungeon" ... at least as far as we can tell is the center, then circle outwards from that location if the map isn't there. It's definitely not as clean of an approach, but we're in a race here. Love to hear everyone's thoughts.
