Sorry for the lengthy delay. This kind of sunk down on my list on me and I only realized I needed to post today.
Falina knew the last bastard had to die, they needed to try and avenge Arani! She wished there was something more damaging she could do but she had few spells that would affect the skum, let alone be useful underwater. She sent off another flurry of magical bolts to slam into the skum once more.

I will be gone June 21-25, 2023 for Origins, and Gencon August 3–6, 2023.
I think having access to higher level divine magic would be the best option. Bard buffs are a good thing but being able to negate status effects and gain better access to healing/resurrection magic would be preferred IMO.
I can try, I won't be able to 6/21-25 and 8/3-6 during Origins and Gencon. I am sorry I've slowed down so bad and am working on improving that.
With only two targets left and one of them obviously moving slower than the other from her spell Falina sent a flurry of magical bolts lancing out at the unslowed bastard.
Falina swam back from her attacker, letting the ugly bastard claw her if it wanted, to open up some space. Once she had she cast a spell and a lflurry of magical bolts slammed into him.
Falina saw a superb chance to try and affect their attackers when the group came up behind them with only Arani to stop them from reaching her. Faline cast a spell that settled settled down on the nearest sahuagin and made everything around them seem to move much faster than they were and then shifted back slightly to get some space between them.
Falina was not amused that the scouts got away, nor that they could swim faster, and said, "We need to slow them down, if I can get close enough and you can keep them off of me I can try to use my magic to accomplish that."
Falina was relieved they had come up with a workable plan and was ready for their next attempt to finish exploring the underwater area. Hopefully they could finish it off this time without any further issues. As they got ready she nodded in agreement with Arani and said, [b]"That makes sense to me. She made sure what preparations were needed were done and indicated her readiness as she waited for the others.
Yeah, I have a replacement computer now, just got it this week and have been getting everything set up again. The circlet would be useful for both Jess and Fallina since it does apply to concentration checks for us since those are charisma based checks. I don't really see anything in particular I needs from that list.
Falina was aggravated at their failure against the mage but there was little that could be done just then. It was definitely time to be planning how to deal with it. The lichtor's attitude raised Falina's hackles and she wanted to do something to get back at him for it but she managed to swallow the urge because he was right. As they began to discuss solutions Falina said, "I think that summoning is not going to work out too well. Unless we can get a higher level wand or scroll it won't last long enough to do us much good. Getting ourselves some kind of ability to move underwater would work better I think."
Still fighting with the new computer but I have given up. They thought it was the hard drive but the new one didn't fix it. I'm getting a replacement computer now but am back on my old one for the time being. Sadly I lost most everything I had because I did not leave it on the external hard drive when I moved it over. Highly aggravated about that fact...
So everyone is aware I have been having PC troubles since Wednesday last week and am still in the process of getting it all worked out so my posting will likely be more sporadic than usual lately until it is resolved..
With no nearby target to attack Falina began making her way back the way she came to see if there was something happening there.
With her target suddenly gone Falina did not want to waste the charge from her wand and so she moved up to see where Caladriel had gone. With a target in sight she cast a spell and sent a volley of magic missiles lancing out at the bastard.
Seeing how the bigger skum was shrugging off some of the spells sent his way Falina pulled out a different wand than before and used it on herself.
"Falina, can you get a read on what magic might be in the cave entrance? I'd rather not walk right into a trap." Arani says as she reloads her crossbow, and the group heals up. "Sorry--not my area of expertise," Falina replies with a shrug, "I just am magical, I never studied to learn it."
Falina was not about to get in the water if she could help it. She had enough of that in the last fight. Her hesitation slowed her down a bit but she ultimately pulled a wand out and pointed it at the skum that Caldariel was actively hurting and then she did it again! Round 1
Falina gave the skum that attacked her the most vile glare that she could after it bit her. She once more began to cast, careful not to give it any openings to attack her.
This time she succeeded at casting her opening spell causing the skum to suddenly feel like everything around them was moving faster than before.
Falina was not about to have anything to do with the ghasts when she realized what they were. Those things needed to die and quickly and she was going to make it even easier. She chanted and gestured, her movements slowing to a snails pace and then released her spell.
Falina watched the damage to the creature mount up as the fight continued and knew they were in really bad shape given the harm to their front line. HEr acid continued to sizzle away at teh xorn and she prepared to cast a flurry of magic missiles if it was still standing.
Round 3 Falina cursed when she realzied her spell missed so she cast it once more sending the arrow of acid flying out at the creature.
Round 4 With the resulting success of her spell Falina lobbed another arrow of acid at the thing hoping for another solid hit even as the acid from the first one continued to sizzle away.
Falina was not happy seeing this creature attack her companions and wanted it to feel pain. She cast a spell and an arrow of acid flew at the things.
Falina was concerned with the mold but they seemed to have found an acceptable solution to the nasty stuff. That Jessi may have contracted some ghost's addiction was far more concerning, especially considering who else might have been affected by it. She resolved to keep an eye on Jessi and if needed she would try and shift the addiction to something more pleasurable to help her through it. With the mold dealt with and a couple going across to get the door open Falina pulled Jessi aside while they waited and spoke to her softly so the others wouldn't easily overhear them.
Jessi: "If you feel the bite too strongly until we get this worked out tell me. I will provide you all the distraction that I can. Like Sabrina you are very important to me and I want to help you alright?"
I will be out of town Aug 3-7 at Gencon and won't be able to post much/at all during that time.

So you all know I will be out of town on June 8th through the 12th for Origins in Ohio. I will be effectively unable to post during that time.

When they reached the room with the curtained off alcoves and divans Falina felt a wash of familiarity go through her. She had seen similar things before, back before Thrune outlawed almost all things fun, and knew what the hookah was used for. She'd used them herself in the distant past, though not very often. When the spectral things came for them Falina felt a wash of concern over the coming fight but she knew it would likely be unavoidable. Ready to fight she chanted, gestured, and sent a volley of magic missiles at the nearest of the shades while making sure her allies were between her and the enemy spooks.
Falina did not like this strange, skeletal, halfling and the price she demanded was far too much. As the others turned her down and questioned what she was Falina said, "She isn't a demon, they generally don't talk and go straight to attacking." As the being described the game it wanted to play and the stakes Falina rolled her eyes and said, "I am afraid that is not the kind of game I play."
The cloak of resistance would be useful for me as well as would the ring of prot (though it would better served if a more front line character took it). I could certainly handle one of the wands of Hold Person.

Oddly it seems I may be on the upper end of the WBL spectrum for our group. Kind of funny really. It's the whip, being a +2 equivalent is pricey, for my purposes it is probably more like half value compared to other things.
Falina was pleased with how everything was going lately even if the city was in more dire straight than it had been when she re-awakened. With their newest goal in mind Falina had little she could recommend to accomplish it and the meeting with the Solstines seemed the best solution. Falina went to the meeting in yet another form than she had previously used. Falina watched and saw the two sisters speaking to the bouncer and tried to figure out what they were discussing just in case this was a trap.
Unfortunately they were too quiet for her to be able to figure anything out.
I agree, the flying potion is a good idea.
Falina nodded in agreement and said, "I think you are right. I can go to the opposite side of the house and keep the cerberi's attention from outside the fence while someone gets him out." Falina's grin was almost evil as she added, "I haven't got to taunt a devil like that for some time, it should be fun."
Falina recognized the words Marquel spoke and responded in teh same tongue.
Infernal:
"Yes, which window is yours? Open it and we will get the message to you." The taste of the langauge as she spoke was revolting in the way the words were said and sounded to her but Falina managed well enough. Falina made an unpleasant face as she wined, "I don't think I like that language honey, con we pleeeeaaase leave so we can get something better for me to taste." Falina looked to the two guards and asked, "Could you please get us safely outside the fence again?" She gave them a suggestive smile and added, "I might be able to make it worth your time."
Falina watched as Arani picked the lock and when they were finally through clung to Arani like the lover she was supposed to be as they made tehir way tot he front door. When they were inside and the guards started demanding answers Falina played along with Arani while keeping her mouth shut. When Arani stumbled into her Falina reached out to steady her and accidentally grabbed one of her breasts and squeezed it before she got Arani starightened up again and winked at one of the guards.
Falina conaidered their options and said, "Perhaps you and I should make use of our current disguises Arani. We might be able to get in to see him with out any fuss. We can deliver the message and then figure outhow to proceed from there."
Falina had entered the district in the form of the readeaded woman she had adopted wearing a nice red and white outfit that left her shoulders and most of her deculetage visible before snugging in at her waist and flaring into a long skirt. She was draped over Lady Arani's arm in a very friendly, even intimate, manner as they road through the gates in the carriage. She had a wicked smile on her lips and about her eyes that drew the longing gazes of the guards and most anyone else that the pair passed and got a glimpse of them. Once they were near their destination Falina asked, "So how are we going to do this luv? Simply walk up to the door and ask to see the individual?"
I thought it was good too, that way a given class can have more or less points for each ategory depending on their focus, wizard would have extra knowledge points, sorcerers would have average knowledge and social points, etc. There would never be a class that would get enough points in a category to take all of the skills in it without using int bonus points.
I could see that, though I would still have the issue of one skill for all just because most people can't do them all with equal proficiency. Likely a better solution would be to group skills by type, so knowledge skills, social skills, etc, and each level you had x number of points to put into each category with maybe generic points equal to your int mod to distribute where you wanted them at. That way you could get around the issue of not having enough skill points but still limit them. |
