As he speaks, Exiel pulls the enchanted cloak from his shoulders and gently puts it around the shivering woman. "This cloak is enchanted to protect one from the cold, and should keep you warm on the way back to Heldren."

"Before we head back, however, it might be prudent to comb the rest of this building to make sure we have thoroughly removed any threats. I would hate to find an arrow in my back whilst we make our way back to Heldren. Milady, if you could make yourself comfortable by the fireplace whilst we finish up here, I'd be much obliged."

Exiel looks down upon the lady, the celestial blood in his veins allowing his eyes to easily adjust to the gloom below. Darkvision Satisfied that they have found the one they were meant to rescue, he executes a courtly bow and addresses her politely in deference to her station.

"Milady, we have followed your abducters on behalf of one Yuln Oerstag, who fought valiantly to bring word of your capture and to send help. We are here, on account of his loyalty and sense of duty, to bear you safely back to Heldren. Unfortunately, his captain fell in battle, but I bear the arms and armor of both men to rescue you in their names."

Guess it's time to return the breastplate and cold iron sword.

"Thank you, Vesna. I do try to look after myself by not taking unnecessary risks, but sometimes risks and sacrifices need to be taken to prevent greater harm. A little busy today, but will add the above loot to the group treasure in about 12 hours from now.

"We should probably take a good look around this level. If there's anyone or anything important, we're likely to find it here."

Not one to back down before an enemy whilst he could still swing a weapon, Exiel takes a 5ft step to stand between Martok and the skeleton to the West. Perceiving that he didn't have many swings left in himself, he drops his shield and smashes at the skeleton with a two-handed grip, hoping to smash through the bones with sheer brute force.

Right, so my SWORD is enhanced with ICE, and the two skeletons in front of my have an aura of COLD. So the best target is the human. But to get to the human, I pretty much have to move between the 2 skeletons, taking an AoO from each... Ah, choices.

What the hell. YOLO!

Taking a deep breath, Exiel bolts into the room, fending off the skeletons' claws as best he can with his shield as he lunges directly for Rohkar!

Surprised by the sight of Aurora just dashing into the room, Exiel rushes in right after her, sword raised and ready to strike...only to see that Aurora had already wrapped things up.

With a shrug, Exiel smacks with the flat of his blade the bandit that Martok had hit with his sling:

One of them should still be alive since Exiel only did non-lethal damage to the one he took out?

Exiel sighs deeply at the killings committed by his party members, though he understands that their fate would be the same if the party had hauled them before the rural courts. Such was the nature of justice in the frontier lands, and whilst completely unsatisfactory to him, now was not the time to make an issue of it. Not if they wanted to succeed in the rescue mission, or even make it out of this alive.

"From the outside, it looked like there was some large room to the south. If there is a sizeable force, that's where they are likely to be, and making a choke-point of that door will prevent them from overwhelming us with numbers," Exiel thinks to himself. "Furthermore, it's close enough to the main entrance that we can beat a retreat if necessary."

With that thought in mind, Exiel motions to the nearest door to the South, loaded crossbow at the ready.

"I think the point is that they are in no condition to do us harm. I accept that time will not permit us to deal with them more gently, especially if they will only be unconscious for a few seconds. However, I would prefer that you incapacitate them rather then kill them."

Exiel will move to the third bandit, and will coup de grace for non-lethal damage.

Personally, I'm not too fussed, but if someone starts to feel cut out of the divvies (due to loot not being useful to their class/build) then feel free to voice out.

Have taken the dagger out of the group loot.

To avoid confusion, let's say Exiel is holding the handaxe but will pass it to Marek if he wants it. If not, will sell it when next we get the opportunity.

Hey guys, regarding the treasure, here's what I'm going to do.

I'll compile in my profile a group-treasure tally. Mostly, it will be for coins and stuff that have no purpose other than to be sold (art, gems etc). Stuff that we want to buy that benefits the party (like a communal bag of holding, or payment for, say, a banquet hall) can come out of it, or when it gets sizeable enough we'll each take an equal share out of it.

It'll be alot less clunky then dividing up coppers at each turn. What do you guys think?

Probably just as well that it was Vesna rather than Martok who healed that wound, seeing as it was mainly frostbite and a cracked rib... The frostbitten flesh would probably have just cracked open from the sudden heat, and I don't even want to know what attempting to cauterise a broken bone would do...

Aloud, however, he simply says, "Thanks Vesna. I appreciate the aid."

If we're across the river, Exiel looks to the North of path on the other side of the river where what appears to be the lower half of a person is sticking out from under the trees. Ever-suspicious of corpses just lying around (especially in the wake of their first skirmish upon leaving Heldren), he focuses his attention on the body (or what's left of it, as the case may be) to see if he can sense any evil emanating from it.

If he does not detect any evil, he will move to take a closer look.

I'm on 4/10 hp. On the one hand, I don't want to waste healing, on the other hand, going down in the middle of a fight is also a bad idea. I leave it up to you healers to decide.

That might be a little excessive. We don't yet know if we have a time limit on rescuing the woman, and going all the way back will probably cost us about as much time as it would take to rest yet another time. If time is at all an issue, it would not be worth it.

Exiel winces as he puts a hand at the area where the ice elemental had smacked him. Looking around, he further notes that the party is somewhat worse for wear.

"Perhaps it would be prudent to find a place where we can rest up for abit, especially if it will enable Martok and Aurora to heal our wounds. I am anxious to rescue the kidnapped lady, but I am not keen on us marching on recklessly. Getting there early will be pointless if we aren't strong enough to rescue her."

Is there somewhere convenient nearby where we can rest? Also, will we be able to cross the river safely, or do we need to play through how we get across (current idea is to have Marek crossover and we have a couple of ropes tied to the trees on either side of the stream, which will serve as an aid/safety-line for the rest of the party).

So...I just noticed that there appears to be at least the lower half of a humanoid body just North of the path on the other side of the stream...so I'm going to guess that's where the ice warriors are camping...or at least that there's a trap there.

As Vesna identifies the nature of the magic on the snowman, Exiel decides not to pay it too much attention. As Aurora approaches the snowman, however, Exiel continues to warily give it a wide berth, instead heading South-East to find a crossing point.

"I wouldn't go too near that snowman, Aurora. We don't know what other magics have been cast on that creepy-looking thing. If any of you are able to detect magical auras, it may be a good idea to check that thing for any other magics still left on it."

Exiel walks around the South-Eastern most copse of trees on this side of the river, then doubles back along the stream to stand 20ft South and 5ft East from the snowman.
It looks like from here we could cross with 30ft of movement. Assuming the ice is difficult terrain, we could probably cross with a double move. I'm worried about crossing carrying the stag though.

"Hmm...any of you guys have some rope? I reckon if we get the lightest and most nimble of us to cross around here," he says as he indicates the stretch of the river before him, "we could use the trees on either side to secure a rope across the river for the rest of us to get across. Stay alert, though. I expect that those 'ice warriors' are lurking about somewhere..."

Exiel narrows his eyes and pouts as Vesna makes her jibe.

"Yes...I be Exiel... slayer of snow-men... I'm still not sure about it though... let's be careful."

With that, he reloads his crossbow, slings it across his back and readies his shield. He also pulls out one of his clubs, and begins approaching the snowman, but slowly.

Well, that's Fawfein down. Next up we have have the 'ice warriors', Izoze the ice mephit and Rokhar the priest of the 'Keeper of Secrets'...a god of knowledge? Or perhaps a god of subterfuge...hmm...that seems more likely for a bandit leader.

"Probably not too comfortable though. One of them looks like it was quite a pain in the neck," Exiel replies, indicating where Aurora's second bolt hit.

Seeing Martok pressing on, he sheathes Yuln's sword and hefts the stag onto his shoulder. This will probably put me in heavy encumbrance, but if it was medium-sized I should be able to carry it without too much trouble, and I can just drop it at the start of each fight.

"At least we know we'll have a good dinner to look forward to," he says cheerfully as he trudges along.
