Male Human Cleric

What do you mean? This is the City of Splendors is it not? Largest port land, home to countless wonderful sights and unforgettable wonders? Ethan says before taking a drink of his ale.

Male Human Cleric

I can't remember is we got a slush fund from the House to spend while looking things up or if everything comes from our own pocket.

Never having had much wealth myself I will have to take you at your word my friend. The greatest wealth I've ever held has always been owned by others. Ethan Rivers if my name recently from the River Kingdoms, newly local bargeman and deck hand. Ethan says with a tip of his hat. I came to this fair city seeking work that is less likely to end up with a knife in the dark if you know what I mean.

Male Human Cleric

10 per hand? Whew. You lads must be some landed gents to play for stakes like that this early in the day. Mayhaps I'll sit a spell and see how the deck is running before I toss my earning in eh?

Male Human Cleric

How would that work then? I assumed its would be 2 d10s with being an Ace and all face cards being a 10.

Male Human Cleric

Ethan walks over to a game table.

Room for one more? What's the game and what's the bet? Server! Ale over here please. Ethan says calmly before sitting himself in an empty seat.

Male Human Cleric

Upon entering an unfamiliar bar, Ethan looks around seeking a game of chance. Nothing loosens tongues more than ale and coin.

Male Human Cleric

Aye lad. Fair idea. Maybe we should hit some of the wealthier taverns this time.

Male Human Cleric

I can't help but think something is amiss in the taverns. I know the moods there on any given day, but this season they seem to be too aggressive. Something in the ale maybe. Dunno, but at least without other options its worth a look.

Male Human Cleric

Well let's hope that's all it is eh?

Male Human Cleric

Any word from our host? I expected him last night at the latest. I think we should split up again and look for him. Ethan says while breaking his morning fast.

Male Human Cleric

Well let's hope our House has deeper pockets then if we wish to make a deal.

Male Human Cleric

I think the term is 'tithe' when it comes to those paladins.

Male Human Cleric

Aye. I meant the other folks looking into the murders.

Male Human Cleric

Or maybe we could share notes if they are seeking to solve these crimes as well. Ethan chews his food a bit before finishing his thoughts. Or mayhaps turn them to our employ. Wouldn't be the first time a there was a change of alliance on the street.

Male Human Cleric

Ethan dunks his bread into the soup and asks What makes you say that?

Male Human Cleric

Team 1:

Aye. I've seen my share of ale filled rows, but this seems strange. Should we go see what the others have come up with? Maybe they have a piece of this puzzle that we are missing.

Male Human Cleric

Team 1:

I am still here lol. Back to work so I should be back to being able to post semi-regularly.
Aye. Let them beat each other senseless if it pleases them. Maybe we should move on to a different place?

Male Human Cleric

What is the 'sleep' beast you talk about?

Male Human Cleric

Just thought I would let everyone know that I just had my baby girl (2 weeks early) which is why my posts have slowed down. I am still here to play just giving everyone the reason if I am not as chatty as I once was.

Male Human Cleric

Team 1:

Come now fellows. No need fer all that. Let's sit and have a drink. My treat. Ser dwarf, surely a bit o' soft human on your foot is nothing compared to the many foes that have fallen before you. And you good Ser, a bit o' spilt ale is nothing worth bleeding over, eh?

Male Human Cleric

Away Team 1:

Ethan will walk over to the on coming fight, and slap a couple silver on the table.

Hey now lads. Whats the bother eh? Surely nothing so wrong as a couple drinks can solve it hhmm? He will flag down a server and buy a round for the table.

Now what seems to be the trouble?

Male Human Cleric

Away Team 1:

Ethan continues to hold his table, trying to engage the locals into playing or drinking.

Male Human Cleric

I have end of the year projects, but I just hired a new minion so he's doing most of them!

Male Human Cleric

Away Team 1:

Ethan and Eran will head off to a tavern close to one of the poorer murder sites. Once there Ethan will set up a game of bones on a table and order a drink. He places a small stack of silver coins on the table next to his mug, letting passerbys know he is looking for a game or two.

Male Human Cleric

Well sure. I, or rather we, intend to hit the lower class joints. Ale houses, traders, markets and the like. I assume you learned gentlemen would be hitting places more to your experiences.

Male Human Cleric

Ethan, and I assume Eran, will head out to one of the closer murder sites to see if they can gather some information from the locals.

Away Team 1:

Ethan would prefer to find a site near a tavern or eatery as these are his most familiar stomping grounds. Once there he will try and find, or start, a small game of chance, before beginning to ask general questions, posing as traveler (which he is so not a hard act to sell) looking to learn the lay of the land.

Male Human Cleric

Aye laddie. I'm ready.

My Dayquil brain can't seem to recall if we were given locations where the murders happened?

We should head to the taverns and gaming houses closest to the murder site. That is where we are most likely to run across someone who saw something. Suggestions or preferences on which site to visit first?

Male Human Cleric

Sorry about the delay in posting. Was ill yesterday.

Ethan will be staying the night in the safehouse. In the morning he will wait in the common room until Eran is ready to head out.

Male Human Cleric

Aye mate Ethan says grabbing the brim of his hat between his index and middle finger and tips it toward Elan.

The lass speaks wisdom once again. Tomorrow then?

Male Human Cleric

Oh the MMO's I've played. From vanilla WoW, to DoTA (not really an MMO) to Medievia (a MUD), then on to DDO, GW 1 and 2, RO 1/2, Neverwinter, SWTOR (Which was awesome till it went F2P), TERA, Rift, and now the wife and I play FFXIV.

If its an MMO we've played it lol.

Male Human Cleric

I agree that it is most likely more than one person, although it may be too soon to call it a cult. It could be a gang or even a family committing these crimes. A gang could be killing this randomly if they are seeking to bloody new members or if they have a larger goal we are not awake to yet. A family is also possible. Can you think of no family that can gain from this chaos? I know many 'noble' families back home that used to use fear to keep people in line or to make them trend to act a certain way.

I am new to my craft, but I am an old hand at drinking and talking. If someone, mayhaps a bit wiser, would like to pair off with me on the marrow we can hit some places and see what rocks we might kick over.

Male Human Cleric

Sorry about the delay. Family and all that.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Really?

Well I am new to my calling but I have a working knowledge of most common religions.

Male Human Cleric

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 Never gonna see anything lol

Ethan seems content to let the others take the lead with the information he has brought back in addition to that supplied by their host.

Male Human Cleric

After gathering what info he can during the day, Ethan will return to the safe house just before nightfall, dropping his pack somewhere inside, but keeping his armor on. He racks his rapier next to the door before dropping into a seat and helping himself to whatever stew is left.

Well chums. Ethan begins between bites. The town is scared. Most seem to think the lady behind the bar hired someone to start the fire so she could buy the place. However, smart money is on demonic cultists, or so says the skuttlebutt.

Male Human Cleric

Just in general. See what the public thinks/feels about the killings. I will return to the safe house before nightfall.

Male Human Cleric

Follows Mr. Samuel to the 'safe house', but only stays long enough to drop off his pack before heading back out into the city to start asking around at some local taverns.

Back RP with Jerex:

Bwhaha. I bet you are interested indeed! Well laddie. Those ladies are called 'ladies of the night' because they are willing to trade a bit of coin for pleasures of the flesh. Not all of us are made of the stern stuff you are. Some of us, my younger self included, like to feel important. To feel that way we talk, mostly about ourselves but could toss in a bit o' gossip now n' then.
So naturally, after being with a woman, a man feels relaxed and if she should ask a skillfully worded question, would get a loosely guarded answer in return. Mayhaps when this deal is finished I will take you over and introduce you to a lady or two eh?

Male Human Cleric

Ethan chuckles at Jerex question, while tying the new purse to his inner pocket.

Whores, my friend, are women of loose reputation and looser . . . morals. It is the worst kept secret in the known world that men like to talk. They especially like talk to pretty girls. He leans back against the wall, taking out his pipe and loading it. With a snap of his fingers he produces a flame to light it.

You look to have had a well off childhood. Say you were trying to keep the fact that you nipped off with a pie from your father. You would tell you friends, they would help you eat it, and while telling your friends you would look out for your sister, she'd squeal, and any of your father's guards or courtiers. But would you avoid the cleaning girl? Or the assistant chef? What about the butcher's boy who is dropping off meat in the cellar? Nay. These people are often over looked and as such can be a source of great information, if the coin is right.

Male Human Cleric

Anyone else have tons a problems trying to post or even load the forums today? My site kept crashing. Said the store was down or overloaded or something.

Male Human Cleric

During Brie's speech Ethan's eyebrows, and his respect for his small companion, raise until they are almost lost.

Dropping to one knee, he removes his hat and gives a half bow to Brie, and her wolf.
Well said lady.

He stands and plops his head back on, before looking over the group.

What the lass says is sound. One thing that never changes in the city is that the rich always overlook the poor. We should scout the brothels and taverns. If we are loose with our purses, then soon someone will loosen their lips.

Male Human Cleric

I'm fine with the accent. Ethan's will come and go based on how much he's had to drink.

Male Human Cleric

How many are we talking about? Over how long? Are we sure its a killer or could it be the escalation of a House war or warren gangs seeking to scare off their competitors. Ethan asks, moving to lean against a nearby wall. While the talk of reward has caught his interest, he's seen far too many turf wars back in the River Kingdoms to be excited by the events at hand.

Male Human Cleric

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Holy Hera, the old drunk saw something!

Ay. If you are the head of the House, why are we skulking around like sneaks? And why in blazes are we in this shack? Shouldn't you have a mansion or a palace somewhere? Some place with fancy foods and drinks? Ethan looks around at the small shack he finds himself in. Or at least a toilet.

Male Human Cleric

Really fighting the urge to 'over post'. . .

Male Human Cleric

Here my small friend. Let me take a look at that. Ethan kneels down to inspect Bathus's ankle.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Nothing seems broken, just a bit sore. Take some time off it this evening and try to avoid falling out of burning buildings and you'll be right as rain soon enough.

With that he stands and looks to the crowd gathered around them.

Assassination? He gives a soft chuckle Why would anyone waste the effort to knock a bunch of drunks off? Give us a few more and we'd take care of it ourselves eh? While his words seem jovial, he hand never strays too far from the worn hilt of his rapier.

Male Human Cleric

Ethan too would be over trying to remove the babies from harms way. . . and their mother if there is time.

Male Human Cleric

No I'm good. Not so fond of fire.

Male Human Cleric

Ok kids. Time to go. Ethan says as he begins guiding people to the rope and helps those that need it to climb up. Once the fires get too hot he will climb up himself.

1d20 ⇒ 10 whew. hope that's enough

Male Human Cleric

I don't see anyone staying behind . . you know. . . with the fire.

Male Human Cleric

Oi boyo! Ethan hollers at the Scholar, pulling a coil of rope from his backpack and tossing it to him (50ft hemp) My old eyes can't pick one spot from another so tie this off and lets be on our way!

Male Human Cleric

I don't think so. Out side of combat, for the most part, there is not rush to post so we can wait for everyone to have a say.

Thus far I don't feel anyone has been voluntold to do anything yet as no one has really taken action yet. Those of us that post more often have simply looked for options and asked/offered advice thus far.

Am I missing something?
