I can't remember is we got a slush fund from the House to spend while looking things up or if everything comes from our own pocket. Never having had much wealth myself I will have to take you at your word my friend. The greatest wealth I've ever held has always been owned by others. Ethan Rivers if my name recently from the River Kingdoms, newly local bargeman and deck hand. Ethan says with a tip of his hat. I came to this fair city seeking work that is less likely to end up with a knife in the dark if you know what I mean.

Away Team 1: Ethan will walk over to the on coming fight, and slap a couple silver on the table. Hey now lads. Whats the bother eh? Surely nothing so wrong as a couple drinks can solve it hhmm? He will flag down a server and buy a round for the table. Now what seems to be the trouble?

Away Team 1: Ethan and Eran will head off to a tavern close to one of the poorer murder sites. Once there Ethan will set up a game of bones on a table and order a drink. He places a small stack of silver coins on the table next to his mug, letting passerbys know he is looking for a game or two.

Ethan, and I assume Eran, will head out to one of the closer murder sites to see if they can gather some information from the locals. Away Team 1: Ethan would prefer to find a site near a tavern or eatery as these are his most familiar stomping grounds. Once there he will try and find, or start, a small game of chance, before beginning to ask general questions, posing as traveler (which he is so not a hard act to sell) looking to learn the lay of the land.

Aye laddie. I'm ready. My Dayquil brain can't seem to recall if we were given locations where the murders happened? We should head to the taverns and gaming houses closest to the murder site. That is where we are most likely to run across someone who saw something. Suggestions or preferences on which site to visit first?

I agree that it is most likely more than one person, although it may be too soon to call it a cult. It could be a gang or even a family committing these crimes. A gang could be killing this randomly if they are seeking to bloody new members or if they have a larger goal we are not awake to yet. A family is also possible. Can you think of no family that can gain from this chaos? I know many 'noble' families back home that used to use fear to keep people in line or to make them trend to act a certain way. I am new to my craft, but I am an old hand at drinking and talking. If someone, mayhaps a bit wiser, would like to pair off with me on the marrow we can hit some places and see what rocks we might kick over.

After gathering what info he can during the day, Ethan will return to the safe house just before nightfall, dropping his pack somewhere inside, but keeping his armor on. He racks his rapier next to the door before dropping into a seat and helping himself to whatever stew is left. Well chums. Ethan begins between bites. The town is scared. Most seem to think the lady behind the bar hired someone to start the fire so she could buy the place. However, smart money is on demonic cultists, or so says the skuttlebutt.

Follows Mr. Samuel to the 'safe house', but only stays long enough to drop off his pack before heading back out into the city to start asking around at some local taverns. Back RP with Jerex: Bwhaha. I bet you are interested indeed! Well laddie. Those ladies are called 'ladies of the night' because they are willing to trade a bit of coin for pleasures of the flesh. Not all of us are made of the stern stuff you are. Some of us, my younger self included, like to feel important. To feel that way we talk, mostly about ourselves but could toss in a bit o' gossip now n' then.

Ethan chuckles at Jerex question, while tying the new purse to his inner pocket. Whores, my friend, are women of loose reputation and looser . . . morals. It is the worst kept secret in the known world that men like to talk. They especially like talk to pretty girls. He leans back against the wall, taking out his pipe and loading it. With a snap of his fingers he produces a flame to light it. You look to have had a well off childhood. Say you were trying to keep the fact that you nipped off with a pie from your father. You would tell you friends, they would help you eat it, and while telling your friends you would look out for your sister, she'd squeal, and any of your father's guards or courtiers. But would you avoid the cleaning girl? Or the assistant chef? What about the butcher's boy who is dropping off meat in the cellar? Nay. These people are often over looked and as such can be a source of great information, if the coin is right.

During Brie's speech Ethan's eyebrows, and his respect for his small companion, raise until they are almost lost. Dropping to one knee, he removes his hat and gives a half bow to Brie, and her wolf.
He stands and plops his head back on, before looking over the group. What the lass says is sound. One thing that never changes in the city is that the rich always overlook the poor. We should scout the brothels and taverns. If we are loose with our purses, then soon someone will loosen their lips.

How many are we talking about? Over how long? Are we sure its a killer or could it be the escalation of a House war or warren gangs seeking to scare off their competitors. Ethan asks, moving to lean against a nearby wall. While the talk of reward has caught his interest, he's seen far too many turf wars back in the River Kingdoms to be excited by the events at hand.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Holy Hera, the old drunk saw something! Ay. If you are the head of the House, why are we skulking around like sneaks? And why in blazes are we in this shack? Shouldn't you have a mansion or a palace somewhere? Some place with fancy foods and drinks? Ethan looks around at the small shack he finds himself in. Or at least a toilet.
Male Human Cleric
Here my small friend. Let me take a look at that. Ethan kneels down to inspect Bathus's ankle. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 Nothing seems broken, just a bit sore. Take some time off it this evening and try to avoid falling out of burning buildings and you'll be right as rain soon enough. With that he stands and looks to the crowd gathered around them. Assassination? He gives a soft chuckle Why would anyone waste the effort to knock a bunch of drunks off? Give us a few more and we'd take care of it ourselves eh? While his words seem jovial, he hand never strays too far from the worn hilt of his rapier.

I don't think so. Out side of combat, for the most part, there is not rush to post so we can wait for everyone to have a say. Thus far I don't feel anyone has been voluntold to do anything yet as no one has really taken action yet. Those of us that post more often have simply looked for options and asked/offered advice thus far. Am I missing something?
