I am really thankfull for all of your advices. I guess I will have to talk to him alone and see if i can change something that won't decrease the gaming fun for the other player. It will be sad to say goodby to him if he doesn't want to play anylonger, but who am I to try to force him to play with us? I can only do my best to make a campaign worthy of never beeing forgotten by me and the group, a campaign were we will remember the good times we had together playing TTRPGs.
But like a wise man once said:" Ways will meet and seperate, no way is never not connected. May our ways cross once again."
I can only hope that he will be playing with us in the future again.

Thank you for your great advices and great effort you spend helping me, you gave me many things to think about...
Once again I have to say thank you, if it weren't your advices and motivation i guess i would have fallen into despair if he simply came to me one day saying: Sorry it is no fun to play anymore.
I would have questioned myself if not all of it would be my fault.
I wish you gentleman a good night and many more gaming without having to say goodby to one of your players. Thank you

So far it sounds like you're doing what you can to motivate him. Ipslore is right, you do need to talk to him in private and ask him what is wrong. Is he only playing because you and your other two friends are playing, or is he really enjoying the game? Besides using the goals he wrote down, ask him what kind of stories he likes. Sometimes what I like as a GM isn't the same as what the players want. For example, I like small towns and villages and dungeon crawls, and I also like a lot of story in my game. One of my players likes city based adventures, and not too much story. So sometimes I try to come up with games that he likes so that some games he enjoys and some games I enjoy. But remember that you can't always make everyone happy and if he's really not interested, you might have to ask him to stop playing with you. You should also talk to all three of your players and ask them all how they are enjoying the games and what they want to see in the future. Maybe your other two players can help motivate the third player. Good communication between the GM and the players is important. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer i mean i wouldn't care if the game would be less fun for me if i could motivate him to play, because i simply like rpgs and it is only that i would feel like the last pece of shit if he stops playing because of me or the way i try to tell the story.

Ask him what the problem is.

I tried he said he doesn't know or that he isnt't not motivated, but his actions speak louder than words

Hello Community like I said in the headline I have a problem with an unmotivated player. Here is some context( I have to excuse myself for my bad english, I know it's bad.):
I recently(2-3 Months) started GMing(Sry I don't know if this is the right word) a game with 3 friends of mine. In the first month I played with my group everything was ok, but recently, since now nearly one month ,it feels like one of my players is suddenly starting to loose interrest in pathfinder. He never was someone, who thought roleplaying was fun, but he started playing pathfinder and found it "strangely fun". He is suddenly loosing interrest, like I said earlier, and I don't know why. I asked my player to write charakter storys and goals( something they would like me to include in the campaign). Since I felt like he was loosing interrest I started focussing on his goals, so that he may find his fun in playing the game, since really love playing pathfinder i would find it sad if he would stop playing.
Recently he always is on his phone or laptop doing something else than pathfinder and only sitting there staring at his screen not even paying attention to what i am saying.
Can somebody please tell me a good way to motivate a player?
I am begging you to help me.

Thanks for your advice i will work over it again and think about the story behind it and what effect it may and so on. I will properbly open a new threat at that time.
But for now i am really gratefull for all of you who gave me suggestions.
Again thank you.

First of all i thank you for your ideas Claxon and Bacon.
I think of the ability boost of the sword as something you can activate and not something that is always activated. If it is not activated it still is a +3 Bastard Sword or something like that. I think that the 1d4 -1 CON dmg is good, because i want it to be something they can use as last resort and not something they can use in every single battle.
But thinking of the penalty for using it would be too high, I thought about this: For every 10 CON dmg the charakter takes the dice would go from d4 to d3 to d2 to d1, but only if the CON damage is not healed by any magic, but through resting.
I like the rage feature very much so i defenitly going to add it.
Now what do you think about reducing the dice of the CON dmg? I would tell it this way to my players: Your body is getting used to get his limit removed. YOur muscels and your tendonds get used to beeing torn and they get harder and harder each time they rip.

Hello community
I need advice. I recently started a campaign with a few friends of mine. As it being the first campaign i am leading, i got interested with the creation of artifact. Because I read the latest chapter of SOUKYUU NO LAPIS LAZULI(because i also am a big fan of mangas and animes) i thought: Hmmmm why not give some sort of powerfull weapon, but with restrains.

This is what i, for now, thought of giving them( it only is one item thought)
Some sort of two handed weapon+2, which if used correctly will "release the limits of their physical attributes" and give them a +4 bonus to strength and dexterity( i am not to sure if i should also give it a +4 on Con), but since their bodys "can not handle the stress" they take 10 points of damage each round. I also thought about giving the a mali on their mental attributes, but i am not so sure about that since i do not know if it will become too weak and no fun to use.
I would like to hear your thoughst about it and if you have something to add please do so. For example if i should change the boni or if i should use the mali and thinks like that. :D
As always sorry for my bad english.
I am going to bed know so i will probably look at the threat tommorow.(In case you are wondering why i am not answering)

I think that is some kind of grey area. Because on the one hand you can say that the effect is some sort of special effect the item can cast on its bearer once per day, if you see it that way then it is possible and allowed to use it more than one time per day(thinking of you as the game master). But one the other hand most of those item need to be worn 24-hours before they can be used effeciently. You also think of them as item which give the user the ability to cause the wanted effect. In that case i would say that even if you do have more than one item of the same kind, that it would not work.

But as alway if you are not sure(and not the GM) ask your GM.
If you are the GM think about if it will destroy their fun playing the game because it is too over powered. If you think that you can still lead a game, without too many trouble caused by that item. Why not let them use it.

Hmm, this is the OP's first and only thread.....

OMG I'm sorry. I was really snarky upthread. @ the OP: I'm genuinely sorry I was such a little B about my comments.

Still it just seems odd out of context. Please elaborate a bit more:

- what's happening in the game prior to the dragon
- why were you there
- why did the PCs follow the blood trail
- has the ranger raised these concerns before

Please help those of us telling you to kill the dragon anyway to understand your game and the ranger's objection so we'll give better advice. "The most important rule: Don't be a jerk." It says so right below where I'm typing and I think I may have courted that infraction. If this is your first post I don't want it to be the last.

First of all there is no need to apologize, since it really is strange if you don't know the context.

Here is what happended before the dragon: :my group where send in the realm of the mammoth lords, since a strange magical coldness was making the snow realm, sorry don't know the right word for that (it's the line on the map after there is always snow), grow at a quite fast rate. Since my group has already killed some of the strange beeing living there we were send to investigate what happend. We found out that all the Babarian clans were under the command of a babarian king, who had changed in the few past years. We also know that the king is loathing all kind of magic and kills every magican he can. After arriving in the realm of the mamothlords, we met a babarian patrol and tried to kidnap one of them but it failed since they got reinforcements, we had to flee.
While flewing our ranger saw the blood of the dragon. The rest of the story you already know. If i need to start the story even sooner please tell me.
Oh yeah the ranger already raised these concerns before. That was when i smoked the animal messanger from a dryad with a fireball....

Well we weren't the ones who defeated him... we simply found his blood and followed it to his hoard.

Well, the Wyrmling's going to suffocate after 10 minutes in the bag, so you're about to have more trouble with the "not killing helpless creatures" thing.

Also, selling intelligent creatures into slavery is not only the epitome of greed but some would consider it a fate worse than death.

Well about that we simply open the bag every few minutes and it should be ok. And i think in a bag of holding type III there is a bit more air than only 10 minutes....

Well we still got his Wyrmling in our bag of holding....
And we thought that we could sell the Wyrmling....
Maybe we are beeing a bit greedy?

I know but our Ranger was all like: "no we can't kill such a helpless creature" :( oh well we still got 700k out of the hoard.

No he is specialised on fire and damage and blast spells.

It is a great white Wyrm.
We are a group of 3 lv. 8 Charakters we also have 2 mythic tiers.
We have a Cleric, a ranger and a sorcerer.
And I nearly forgot we put his Wyrmling with negative levels in a bag of holding.

Hello Community
I have following problem. My group and I are in a hoard of a dragon, the dragon is critically wounded and not consciousness. The greed of my group took us over and we already looted its hoard. But now we ask ourselves: What to do with the consciousness dragon? For now we thought we should make sure that he doesn't die, but we also want to make sure that he doesn't wake up. So what should my group and i do?
