Refugee from a RotRL game that died in the first level of play.
Not too keen on defining my character as a 'class' but more of what they do. But for (obvious) statblock/upkeeping sake, is going to be a fighter (maybe lorewarden, or regular).
As for reasons to be in sandpoint (and trait): Hired hand for the Scarnetti household ("That's Mister Scarnetti to you!")
As for his backstory, he has one already (in profile). But to be honest feels a bit forced, (will come up with something more realistic (in a fantasy setting!) when not at the office).
May make a new alias (don't know how people without last/family names are treated).
As always, any advice/criticism is welcome!
(Edit:) Looking over the request you sent out for recruitment (so I may have missed it) but... what exactly is your criteria? Is it requesting a full stat block (traits/feats/description/goals/character relationships (if any) with npc's?) Just a background and a concept? Or the more the better?
1: For traits... I wasn't aware there were any from the player's guide, I am only seeing bonus feats. (aka upbringing) Is that what you mean? (As in have a bonus feat (a 2nd one, must be upbringing?) (or are you talking traits from the shadows under sandpoint (from APG)?)
2: When the hardcover comes out (I think next month), plan to use that? Or stick with the 3.5 material?
Have to update backstory, character was originally from a RotRL game that didn't make it very far. (Going for TANK)
If selling chain mail, buying tower shield ok, (and getting full plate) will update character sheet, skills(armor check penalties), etc etc. (And same above for Ameiko) Erodel is ready to rock!)
"Don't forget about Nualia and her mercenaries.." Erodel adds before pushing himself away from the table.
"I plan to make a few purchases myself before this night is through..." As he heads out towards the door, stopping in the entrance way. "Not before checking on our gracious host however." turning back towards the others seated at the table, Erodel beckons them forward. "I have no idea how she is handling this, so any help would be welcome."

Then Erodel will hunt down the halfling helper woman, and ask her how Ameiko is holding up... or just go and knock on her door.
Remaining questions.. (at least Erodel has..)1: Where is Ameiko.. and how is she holding up? (Last thing we need is our generous hostess committing suicide!) 2: What was with the creepy lady with the ranseur and the book doing in a smuggler tunnel? 3: How do we plan to get into the goblin fortress? (Although I doubt anyone has any decent recon, except for the recently departed Tsuto)
Although the second may be answered by the good father after they are finished purifying the altar
Climb DC Example Surface or Activity
0 A slope too steep to walk up, or a knotted rope with a wall to brace against.
5 A rope with a wall to brace against, or a knotted rope, or a rope affected by the rope trick spell.
10 A surface with ledges to hold on to and stand on, such as a very rough wall or a ship's rigging.
15 Any surface with adequate handholds and footholds (natural or artificial), such as a very rough natural rock surface or a tree, or an unknotted rope, or pulling yourself up when dangling by your hands.
So technically if we are able to get a rope where needed, folks should be able to take 10 and easily make it up. (of course if goblins are shooting bows/arrows/ballistae..... probably not, but still should be easy to do).

Sweet mother of pearl, its a holiday weekend! go to sleep folks! Climbing gear is 80gp for +2 to climb.
Funny enough, Erodel actually has a higher climb, due to the acp and climb as a class skill, even in full plate (only because Elransil doesn't have a rank in climb!) : Erodel will have +1 ranks +3 str + 3 Class bonus = 7, -4 ACP so +3 bonus
"I'm not too bad with climbing myself..." Erodel leaning back slowly in his chair. As it groans under the weight, Erodel looks around; trying to get an angle to see out into the inn looking for a sign of Ameiko, or the halfling woman who sent them on their journey in the morning.
"So, rope, and a boat. We have those." Erodel replies, counting them out on his mailed fingers. "All we need now is to kill those goblins, and deal with this Nualia and her mercenaries." pointing to the journal.
Going through the posts here in a bit.. and did anyone ever find out what that lady with the ransuer statue and book was all about??
"Damn, and before we could get anything out of him other than what he told Ameiko." Erodel replies, while shaking his head.
Polishing off the last of his flagon, Erodel sets it to the side and flips the visor back down. "So what do we know of Thistletop, besides it's full of goblins?"
Setting himself at the table, Erodel puts the potions onto his belt; "Thanks for the potions, and the loan." Nodding to Radoslav, and Elransil each in turn.
Looking around at the others he adds: "So, how are we planning on doing this? Before we talk of how we plan to take down the tribes leaders, we need to make it there first. We take the boat from the tunnels, and sail it out to the island? " Reaching for the pitcher and pouring himself some honey mead.
Raising his visor, then his tankard, Erodel takes a long pull before settling it back down on the lacquered wood. "I've spoken to a......." giving pause as he tries to think of his relationship with Titus, "patron, who should be assisting the locals with the tunnels and patrols. What were you able to get out of Tsuto?"
If we are going to be assaulting a goblin fortress, tower shields may be a worth while investment. (Nothing like full cover vs slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune!)
Thanking Savah, Erodel raises the lower half of his visor before joking: "I'll keep it close to my heart!", giving a grin as he clangs one mailed glove over his mailed breast. Then excusing himself and heads towards the Rusty Dragon Inn, to try and find his companions (and possibly Ameiko) for dinner!

Returning towards the market part of Sandpoint, Erodel will first stop off at the armorer's. Striding through the door, "I need a set of full plate." Looking around the shop, and outside to see if there is anyone else present, he adds more sheepishly: "And you will be needing measurements? Is there... a back room?"
Assuming so....
Erodel allows himself to be led into the rear portion of the store, and proceeds to slowly remove portions of his armour; revealing the scars along his arms.
I thought Elransil met the other family over dinner with Aldern Foxglove.
As for Ameiko, I guess only time will tell, (I guess she will become owner of the glassworks via inheritance?), seems odd to kill her father over the dispute he had with Tsuto, just so Tsuto would kill himself after trying to recruit her. (Since Tsuto was obviously out of favor with Lonjiku, and would be probably written out of any will he had).
Hmm good point, I was going by the assumption that Tsuto used it to cross (not trusting goblin craftsmanship himself). Although I should look up size/space on a rowboat..)
But.... yep, if it turns out, then Erodel can ask his patron. (I mean.. he's only connected to the mafia, what harm could being in his debt be?)
Elransil, you might have connections of your own, being close to TWO merchant families. Yours, and your possible fiance's.
"Do you have any colleagues who could help with the smuggler tunnels? Troops to spare for patrolling the town? Information? There may be a group of mercenaries camped out on Thistlewood isle, do any of your contacts know about them? Or perhaps .... maybe.... " As Erodel pauses, trying to fully flesh out the idea in his mind, pacing on the wooden floor.
"If you could present yourself as someone that the people could rally behind! Give a speech to the town, inspire them!" he exclaims, striking the desk with a mailed glove to drive his point home.
Troubled youth Aasimar, adopted daughter of old priest (strict guy). She was picked on because she was aasimar/different, had a miscarriage and she/father supposedly perished in fire. Although she didn't really perish in fire, but is now head honcho over a bunch of goblins/mercenaries on Thistletop where she plans to wage war/destruction/not so nice things, down on her old hometown. (Revenge!!) Also may/may not have demonlike appearance now? (Possible Tsuto imagination).

Half-Elven (bastard) son of Longjiku Kaijutsu, murdered father, committed suicide. Wanted to get his sister onto his side before the bad stuff happened. Lieutenant in Nualia's gang of goons. Apparently had a bit of a Nualia fetish?
Goblins on Thisletop::
Bunch of never 'do wells, used tunnels (and boats??) to get into town, have fortress on Thistletop island, (although there is apparently a long bridge connecting it to the mainland). No idea as to numbers, but currently led by Ripnugget and have the nicest 'lair' (As per goblin standards).
Feel free to add anything! Trying to keep up notes with stuff going on.. might possibly add story elements?
"I bring news of opportunity. If you haven't found out already, there was a goblin attack during the festival. And there is a possibility that there could be more."
As Erodel moves further into the room, the floor squeaks and groans from use. Edging himself to keep away from the imported rugs, Erodel makes his case from the other side of the desk.
Going off the assumption written into the APG from the Trait... that it's pretty common knowledge that Titus has some ties with the Scarnzi criminals, and that his reputation is town is not quite what it used to be.
"You could use this to raise your standing within the community. Think of it! No longer would you be regarded as a member of the underworld, but as one of the saviors of Sandpoint!"
We already know that the goblins got in a lot easier than they should have. Maybe one of the guards is an inside man? Was set to watch over Tsuto when he is in town, and 'take care' of him if he got into trouble.
Party comes back and our inside man hears about the upcoming interigation with magical assistance, decides that Tsuto won't be able to handle it.
Goes in to give Tsuto his food, and 'happens' to find him strangled. Nothing a cast of 'hold person' couldn't accomplish, and we know Nualia was the adopted daughter of the ex priest... so she could have some divine magic capabilities. (Not to mention the demon hand/tail picture doesn't exactly evoke thoughts of regular people)
After being shoo'ed from the church, Erodel heads towards the Scarnetti Manor. Entering the premises, he knocks on the door and announces himself. "It's Erodel. I'm here to see Titus."
Asking the others to purchase a few items for him, Erodel excuses himself to visit the church. Although any of the other PC's are more than welcome to join him.

Knocking on the door, Erodel asks one of the adepts for an audience with Father Zantus. (Hopefully) Meeting with the priest, Erodel explains his plight. "There is an altar to the Mother of Monsters down in tunnels, we left it alone for fear of drawing unwanted attention. If you would be willing could you... remove it?"

Is Titus Scarnetti still in town? Erodel was thinking of asking his sponsor for assistance (maybe get Titus to look good, if he aids in saving the town from the goblinoid threat!) As well as help pay back Erodel's debt!
Aldren Foxglove was the noble I believe, seemed very interested in certain party members.

Which means, may be running into this bugbear ranger if we go after the thistletop. Also, that bringing horses across the water could be difficult (although with the goblin's hatred of horses.. could be a benefit?).

So.. it looks like Thistletop is their base of operations, and its on an island off the nettlewood (close to one of the other tribes, and territory of the bugbear ranger) coast.
Although, I could be mistaken.

Nothing really about horses, except that he would pay for stabling.. but they might all still be his? Maybe we could ask to rent some of them?
May be better off getting a bag of holding/handy haversack (as that benefits the group), rather than just Erodel, if only to hold a bunch of the parties random gear/tents/supplies.

Signs point to the Thistletop goblin's being the ones in charge, and... didn't Shalelu tell us they are on some sort of skull island? Should we consider investing in a rowboat? (50gp) Possibly a potion/scroll of water walk?
Elixir of truth? Get 100 questions (for 500gp)
Trying to think of what else may need... tangle foot bags? (50gp a pop.)
Can we post our attempted purchases here (And have them validated) and.. then handle it in character at the shopping district? (in case anything fun/exciting happens?)
Any GP restrictions off the bat? (nothing magical more than 800gold etc etc?).
