Erdann, like Pip, turns his attentions to the creature above, targeting him with a blue-white ray of cold magic. mechanics: spell attack ray of frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 spell attack ray of frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 cold: 1d8 ⇒ 7 unless Pip kills it, then i would shoot at the robot instead
Erdann, seeing that the itchy-fingered Pip has already elected to fire upon the sentry, doubles down on his colleague's choice by firing a beam of blue-white energy at the creature. mechanics: I am unsure of the mechanics for Called Shots in 5e, if they exist, but I am specifically aiming for those weirdly-connected wires. spell attack ray of frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Erdann waves a hand to move the flaming sphere over to one of the dogs chasing Slice, then shoots the wand of magical missiles at one of the dogs on Pip. mechanics: vs R1 if he killed #1, i will aim for #3 MM wand fail: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 force: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 2) + 3 = 10 Flaming sphere will roll to R6
Erdann fires a beam of blue-white light as the ball of flame continues to churn. mechanics: vs R6
Flaming sphere will also roll over R6 if it still lives after the Ray of Frost.
did my knowledge check earlier count, or not because it was untrained?
Erdann readies himself to cast a spell when the creatures get closer. mechanics: Can i roll if nature isnt trained? if so: nature: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 Readied Action: cast Flaming Sphere when a dog is within 30ft, UNLESS he learns from his roll that they are resistant to fire.
that looks like a lot of readied actions, but really it is just that what he learns determines which single action he readies. I only threw it all out there so as not to slow down the PbP.
"Eh, looks like he got away, unless one of you is gonna get him. I'm not going to wade over there and then run. Eugh." Erdann says, keeping his eyes open for further danger. mechanics: Readied action to cast Ray of Frost at any new enemies appearing or if the remaining spy successfully hits an ally. spell atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 ranged touch if that is a thing?
As spell and arrow miss him, Erdann counts his lucky stars. Having little to add by way of pithy rejoinder, he summons a ball of flame at the man who would oppose them. The roiling sphere dances in place and illuminates the area around the swarthy man. He then ducks behind baskets and crates, nearly laying down by way of defense. mechanics: DC 15 DEX (halves) saving throw i believe, if our proficiency bonus is still +2 which i think it is fire: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10 vs swarthy man currently in R2 i will go prone or take cover, whichever is more advantageous for me against all the attacks. both, if they stack.
"I used to do things like this all the time, except i'd always know it was something that i shouldn't be transporting. When paid this much, either the road is to be dangerous or the product is illicit. Maybe both. But the fact of the matter is, it simply isn't my business unless they come out and say what it is. I'd play the questions game with them, certainly. 'Is it alive? Will it explode? Does it need to be smuggled?' But never 'what is it, exactly?'"
i will be able to level this weekend. as for the wand, I will take it if no one else wants it. I am unfamiliar with magic missile in this edition but i do have my ray of frost as a primary offense. i wouldn't have pursued the wand myself because the drawback is pretty extreme (as i picture myself rolling a 1 the first time i use it).
"We could tell the shaman that we want to take him on a tour of their future home, him and whatever "honor guard" he requires, as I am sure he won't trust us to bring him alone. I am sure he won't want to part with the ring but may be willing to come here under this pretext, which he could sell to the tribe and king. He could even say Shiraz here is an ambassador or something and they'd really have a silly little kingdom." |
