Dire enjoys himself at Otter's but otherwise just kicks around town for maybe a day before heading out to go hunting/exploring in the nearby woods.

To Dire –

”If you’re looking for a farmstead – okay, what exactly are you planning on doing with it? Well – nah – that be yer affair, I reckon,” Brett says.

If you want to go hunting – do you have a particular place you’d like to travel in? If so – what is your plan? Did you have something particular you want to hunt for, or just having your character kill time? If you want to hunt – let me know – because when it happens, we can RP the hunt out, if you want to.

Dire grins a bit sheepishly, " It's not for me, would be for my family. Place they could come that might be a bit more hosptable than up aroudn Port Ice. As for me? I don't need any lands but I might build a hunting cabin around here somewhere, far enough away to be on my own but not too far away to not be of help to the area."

Dire isn't looking for anything in particular, just to see if there is a good supply of game animals, and he's always on the lookout for new and interesting places. He'd likely ask Brett if there was any place nearby to go and explore that the townsfolks want to know more about. Not a cave full of trogs mind you, just someplace to satisfy a bit of wanderlust.

Absolutely wouldn't mind Rping it out.

Dain doesn't have much else to do except explore town, He'll replenish his stocks of sunrods and tanglefoot bags if he can. Otherwise, he'll visit Otter's and get all his armor and clothes cleaned. He's not up for gambling or bloodsports so he'll stay clear of those areas.

Assuming he gets paid as well

His only inquiry would be to Brett about what would be involved in staking out a claim in the land.

"Ah well I guess I enjoy it well enough. I beats walking for certain but to just up and ride off for the hell of it, can't ever say THAT has any appeal to me." Dire unhooks the waterskin from his belt and takes a large swig. 'Gods! Being down there made me thirsty. Any of you all want some?" Dire offers out the waterskin to all in the area.

"I know Derovath LIKES to run around sometimes just for the hell of it, and I can kind of tell her moods at times, but I try not to impose myself on animals if I can or at least as little as possible."

Shaking his head,"Nah...scratches mostly. Seems I got as good as I gave. Not used to wandering around underground. Most of the work I done has been out in the open. I take it a lot of you all could actually SEE down there in that blackness. Must be nice."

Nodding to Ariarh,"Glad to help miss. Hope my help was worth the coin. Derovath gets off on his own often enough, I'm just glad she comes back after a while. Never left me in a bind so far."

"Brett, I think I'll take you up on that trip to Otter's. I'm not sure if I or my armor needs more cleaning."

"Yeah, I'm with Brett on this one, feared, poisoned, and almost blowed up makes a body a bit tired.

Dire begins wiping mud and dirt from his armor and then stops realizing it is going to take a lot more concerted effort that he is currently willing to give.

"Still though, you got to admit, it was kind of exhilarating."

"You got it!"

Dire charges in alongside Mak Morn, picking out a target

Dire's Longsword +8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

If it hits 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Even with +1, I don't doubt 11 misses.

My mistake. Just going by the character sheet, not sure why it says d4 instead of d6. Ah dang it, I used the small column instead of medium. And I am attacking the one in front of me.

Dire's attack Short Sword +9 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Damage if he hits d4+3 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Readying steel, Dire indicates he's ready to hold the trogs off as long as he can, "Better do whatever you are going to do, don't know how long we can hold these guys off when they get here."

Dire will prepares to strike at any who get in range.

"Also, if anyone needs em I got one more of those tanglefoot snares in my backpack, it's right on top.

Dire fishes a tanglefoot bag out of his belt and tosses it at the lead trog in hopes of blocking some of the rest of them moving past him.

Ranged +10 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 Ranged touch attack with tanglefoot bag

"Other than killing them til their bodies choke the stairway..only trick I got at the moment." Drawing both his swords he prepares for the crush of the trogs.

Needling Brett, "Yeah but I believe YOU hired me to come down here so technically its all on your account." Dire grins his teeth shining from the sunrod's light. "Besides we killed the spider so no worries there. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else we might have missed nearby before we go."

Perception+9 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Dire gives one good slow look and listen, and then says, "But if we are ready to go, then I'm more than happy to head out as well."

Dire will kind of poke around with the sunrod, wandering a little away from the group. Not out of range of the light though so about 60 feet or so. Just to see what else is around. He will keep away from that damn scary wall though.

"Gonna look around a little more while you all play mad alchemist" Dire chuckles. "I won't get out of sight or yelling distance. But if you all are ready to go, I'm ready. Either way."

Ah the same, but not with waiph's family, mine own, leave Friday afternoon not to return till Sunday.

"Never pulled a venom sack from anything THIS large. Do we have the time to do this?" Dire squats over a section of the corpse giving it a closer look.

"You guys are footing the bill so if you all want to leave that's fine by me, but I could go on as well. I'd agree though, this place down here, these caves, they are so big, we could bring a platoon down here and still get lost!"

Dire nods to Hank, "I hadn't thought of it but yeah, I would say it would be of a lot of use, now hrmmm let me see if there is anything left to salvage."

Dire begins moving around the corpse, lifting and prodding various points carefully with the tip of his bow, looking for some indication that there are poison glands still intact.

Knowledge Nature +91d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

If he finds them he will pull out a sack and try to gather as many as he can.

Oh he'd still look, just to see what IS left.

"Damn! This place is huge! Who do you all think built this place and why?"

Dire urps once more then stifles a small burp. "Think I am starting to feel a little bit better."

He'll wander over to the giant spider just to examine it a bit closer, as long as its not too far from the group. He's never seen anything like this.

Looking over at the coins, Dire remarks, "Look like they will spend."

Dire will sheath his swords and draw his bow once again scanning the distance along with Arsinian.

Perception+81d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

"Thanks for your concern, yeah, I'll be alright, soon as my stomach settles down. The poison on those stickers really knocks the humors out of balance but I'm feeling better by the moment."

"As for the rest of the things in the webbing, maybe we could figure out a way to cut the webs from the nearby stalactites and lower them down. I take it we don't want to burn the webs as there may be someone still alive in there?"

Dire picks up the sunrod, and holds it up high as he can to add to Arsinians light.

"Might we be able to get a foothold in the rocks and climb up to cut things out? I'm not a bad climber but if I did it I'd have to take off this breastplate. "

Dire will get steady on his feet and with an thick swallow, grin,"Dark caves, scary magic walls, and giant poisonous spiders....you guys really DO know how to party!"

When he gets rid of the nausea, he'll help to cut down Dior and check to see if anything else might be left alive.

Attempting to make a show of force against the spider, Dire raises his swords feebly but even this action causes his head to swim and his stomach to churl. He realizes quickly he won't be any threat and staggers back from the spider 20 feet or so, hopefully out of harms way until the nausea passes.

Dire's Fort Save +8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Le sigh

Dire attempts to wheedle around behind the spider if its possible in order to flank the creature between either Arsinian or Brett. If it doesn't look like it will happen he'll just go and attack

Reflex + 6 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

So Dire won't really help out in this fight :P

Trying to get in to attact the spider, Dire yells out,"DAMN!" One of those hairs got me!" He almost immediately develops a flop sweat and turns ashen his insides feeling like they want to come out and play.

Even though he can't attack he'll still try to get around to provide a flanking bonus if possible.

Ah yeah I misunderstood. I'll have it right next time. Also if this thing is now on the ground, I'll head over there drawing swords to stick it.

Dire fires off one more shot after retrieving his bow yet again. Touching that wall must have really did a number on his hands.

To-hit +51d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 for 1d6 ⇒ 3 if it hits.

After taking the shot, Dire says to Ariarh, "Any chance those air spirits you conjured up can get your griffon down? If so we could just burn the webs and dump that damn spider down here to us! Probably crack his skull too if he fell!"

Dire will keep an eye out for the feel of the group and if they look as if they are gonna bolt. For now though it looks like those elementals that got summoned up are doing their job so he'll keep firing.

First shot +11 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 for 1d6 ⇒ 5 if it hits.
Second shot +5 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for 1d6 ⇒ 1 if it hits.

Wow really. In real life, at this point, I would retire this d20 and pick another. *sigh*

Five arrows down

Dire will take another couple of shots.

First shot +11 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 for 1d6 ⇒ 1 if it hits.
Second shot +5 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for 1d6 ⇒ 3 if it hits.

Wow! RNG really IS random! *grumbles*

Dire isn't likely to flee unless the group is going. He's had it drilled into him that you never leave anyone behind.

Three arrows down

Fort save +81d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Dire chokes as the barb land on him but manages to keep down the quail egg and cheese he had for breakfast a few hours earlier. Grinning oddly, his face in a strange rictus he keeps his gorge and fires one shot at the spider.

First shot spent by picking up bow. Second shot at +5 for d6 damage

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 1d6 ⇒ 1

Cursing, Dain picks up his bow on next round and knocks the arrow he still had in his firing hand. "Well now that I have proven the fool, let's try this again.

No init for me? I have +8 on Init rolls. Please no for Npc'ing Ariarh for he moment, I'm still trying to get the hang of playing one char.

Init+8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Dire will sheath his swords and draw his bow since the spider is up in the webbing. Knocking an arrow, he mutters, "Giant spiders I can deal with!"

Dire's plan is to pelt it with arrows until it comes down then lay into it with his blades. Unique strategy I know right? Do you need us to make attack rolls? If so, Dire's long bow is +11/+5 for a d6 damage

Attack 1--1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 and 1d6 ⇒ 1 <---well poop on that!

Dire fumbles the first arrow dropping it to the ground.

Attack 2-- 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 and 1d6 ⇒ 5

Oh gonna post all night while I'm sleeping eh? :D

Dire will give it a look to try and determine the source of the hissing.

Perception +8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Holding the sunrod behind himself to keep the glare down AND cocking his head he strains both to hear and see what might be out there.

"I agree with Mak," Dire hasn't been introduced to Mak Morn yet but has heard him called that since they have been exploring, "Like I said I'll take point but since it looks like you all might know a bit about this place, maybe we should stick together. So which way CAN we go from here?"

"Also, that sunrod is burning so might as well use it." Dire will pick it up unless it's over by the fear wall in which case he'll leave it. If he can pick it up he'll hold it up to try and illuminate the area more.

Shaking his head no, Dire dismisses the need for healing, "Nah. I think I'll live but I do thank you for the offer." He laughs then gets quiet, " Just felt like..." he ponders for a moment, "like touching your own grave I guess. The coldness of those stones was like nothing I ever felt before and don't plan on doing again."

At this point he proceeds to sheath both his swords and rub his hands together to get the warmth and feeling to return. When or IF they do he's draw his steel again and be a little more careful around scary rock walls.

"I was also kind of hoping I'd find your griffon up here somewhere. Where did it go?"

Dire shakes his head attempting to clear the fuzz and fear from it and answers Anuk's questions as best he can,"That wall over there," he nods with his head,"It looked odd and I went to investigate it. Soon as I touched it, this wave of fear washed over me and my hand got icy cold. Hells it's STILL numb." Gripping both swords in his off hand he waves the numb one rapidly in an attempt to get feeling back in it.

Grinning with a weak smile,"Guess next time it get's poked with a sword first. No sense in drawing back a stump when I can always find a new sword."

He turns to Brett then Ariarh, "You guys seen something like this before? Damn creepy."

I will be happy to delay my day postings to evenings only. I frequently have time to check in during the day and I guess in my enthusiams I just felt like posting at all times. Also, my condolences to Ariarh's player and hope they get to feeling better.

Also storm rolling through so gonna log for the evening.

Choking out a warning, "Stay away from those rocks! Something wrong with them!"

Trying to steady himself on his feet, Dire will try to move back to Arsinian and away from the rocks. He'll not likely try to make another attempt at approaching them unless something else forces him too.

Dire jeks his hand away from the pain of the wall swearing, "Damn!"

Will save +9 as per last time1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

He is seriously having a problem with this place now will save or not and depending on the save roll will likely be headed back towards the group if he gets the chance.

So Dire IS alone up here. With these creepy rocks. And all this darkness. Also, he has been looking around for any signs of that griffon.

Knowledge Nature +9 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Dire squints at the rocks but even with the sunrod blazing on the ground, he can't quite make out what unnerves him so about them. He moves towards them to get a closer look. His swords ready to swing. This place has him on edge.

Works for me. No worries. :)

Dire flashes with anger some of the fear gone, replaced instead with the stinging rebuke from the bard, he speaks in a slow measured tone, "You may be paying me to come with you but this doesn't give you the right to berate me. There is plenty here that is just ... wrong and unnatural"

He looks around the room now that Arsinian has approached with his magics somewhat bolstered by his approach and prepares to move forward.

That ought to snap him out of it. :D

Oh and he does move ahead, but slowly, whispering under his breath, "Cayden, watch my back."

Perception +8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Will save +4 base +1 cloak +1 bravery +2 Iron Will +1 mind affecting = +9 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Dire looks around, steeling himself against whatever may be out there. He peers into the gloom ready to strike anything that looks hostile.

If the sword light fails, he'll pull out a sunrod, strike it, and drop it to the ground to alert the rest

Oh. How ominous. :D

No sign of the griffon? If not, he'll look around to see where else to go from here.

Dire will wander back to the rest of the group and if he gets back will tell them what he sees, "Some sort of crack in the ground releasing steam up ahead bout 200 feet up from us. Gets kind of hot and steamy up there. I didn't see anything that wanted to take a bite out of us though. Even still, probably need to keep a sharp eye on our footing, a drop in scalding hot water won't make for anyone having a good day. If you all want to follow me, I'll take point.

Oh, my mistake. Either way he'll head towards where Dior went glowing sword in front of him.

Dire watches carefully in the direction where Arsinian shot his light enchanted arrow.

Perception +8 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Speaking in a low tone, "Not sure. I think I heard hissing but between the echoes, us and the running water it's hard to tell. I'm head that way if you all watch my back. "

Without waiting, Dire makes his way slowly towards the direction that the griffon flew and the lighted arrow

Assuming that they are both in the general same direction.

Dire will keep a sharp eye for anything moving besides us. He'll focus on the ceiling and the edge of the light in hopes of spotting anything before it gets the jump on us.

This room so large we can't see across it?

Without turning around, Dire focuses on the darkness below, Dead serious miss. Just adding a little levity to the endeavor."

He nods at what Arsinian says as well.

Dire grins, Unicorns and Bog fairies?
