Actually our last GM did (new name at the top surprised me) but he's had to withdraw from the boards completely (there are no new posts under his profile) and we still don't have a new GM yet. Any word yet, Lirotha?

♫Staying alive, Staying alive,
Oh, oh, oh,
Staying aaaalivee!♫

Yup we're pretty consistent in staying together and pushing forwards! I've loved that about our group to be honest.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thank-you Lirotha!

Seems my last post here got eaten by a board monster? Arugh it seems to be happening somewhat commonly here, but I could be forgetting to post properly.

Oren, I'm glad to hear you aren't dying to Covid anytime soon, and I hope that we are all so lucky if or when we get it.

As the oracle in said campaign, a fifth player wouldn't hurt, but more importantly I think we need someone who can run the campaign for us!

Rocco, what are you feeling about this?

Wait my last post never went through? Whoops.

Elurius takes on the form of a cleaning halfling and sneaks into the building, keeping an eye on the alcove and on the people in and around the building.

Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9

However the very act of cleaning disgusts the woman so much she gets distracted by it more than half the time.

Female CG half-elf Oracle 7 | HP 47/47 | AC: 21 (+2 if both hands aren't in use), T: 14 FF: 20 (18 if both hands are in use) | Fort +4; Ref +4; Will +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 1st 8/8 2nd 7/7 3rd 5/5 | Flicker 3/3 Healer's way 6/6 Counter-Song 7/7 Wand 41/50 | Active conditions: none

Elurius blinks and changes into a nondescript shift of a halfling, a sleeve tugging later and she's dressed in the ragged clothes of a temple slave. ♫"I could act like I'm coming into to give the items a cleaning, if it pleases the priest. Act like I'm mute to try covering my prodigious musical talents. I could scout out the route and if there are any devils on guard so Rocco can then sneak in under invisibility and steal them... If we want them that is."♫

Elurius then turns to Lirotha. ♫"As for the Silver Council... I'm thinking it would be great to get a group of people who can mobilize the general populace. Not recruit people to our ranks specifically, but allow community leaders and the Ravens to collaborate on things. If we are to truly take Thrune out of power here, we are also liable to cause massive upheavals and overturn many civil structures and works. The council could allow us to quickly fill in those gaps and allow a smoother transition. For example, the other day when we took down the guard house, with the council we could try working an arrangement with the leaders to have a group of people who could act as guards or police set to take over quickly versus letting the area go with out some protection until either Thrune or we have a chance to replace them."♫

I'm thinking more of a 'make sure we don't f@~# the city, or have options if we do' type of group. Might also be a great way to gather information.

Female CG half-elf Oracle 7 | HP 47/47 | AC: 21 (+2 if both hands aren't in use), T: 14 FF: 20 (18 if both hands are in use) | Fort +4; Ref +4; Will +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 1st 8/8 2nd 7/7 3rd 5/5 | Flicker 3/3 Healer's way 6/6 Counter-Song 7/7 Wand 41/50 | Active conditions: none

Elurius picks up the scrolls, reads over them and adds them to her scroll case, before finishing her tea and giving a proper noble woman's curtsy to Ms. Docur and leaving with the rest of the group.

She looks over at Oren and Rocco as they talk about disguises ND sneaking into places. With a snap of her fingers she turns into a halfling man with a big bushy beard and a hard look. In a much lower voice the halfling sings out, ♫"Sneaking into a place without me? I think of the group I'd have the best chance of never being recognized! And seeing as I can disappear from sight for a good amount of time in a flash as well, it'd be a mistake to leave me behind."♫

Female CG half-elf Oracle 7 | HP 47/47 | AC: 21 (+2 if both hands aren't in use), T: 14 FF: 20 (18 if both hands are in use) | Fort +4; Ref +4; Will +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 1st 8/8 2nd 7/7 3rd 5/5 | Flicker 3/3 Healer's way 6/6 Counter-Song 7/7 Wand 41/50 | Active conditions: none

The halfling server comes back to the table with the orders and a steaming cup of tea, he pulls up a seat and plops down into it and makes a small exclamation of surprise over something across the room. Next moment there's Elurius sitting in the seat, tugging on her sleeves as she adjusts them to sit right. She picks up the tea cup and takes a sip, gesturing for the Lady to continue.

Sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 How in the high heavens is Elurius only 1 or 2 points behind half the party? She's got a negative wis modifier!

Her eyes do light up at the mention of the Grey Spiders. ♫"We were only tracking them down for something... exact details slip my mind, but I can assure you we are not going to be basing anything off of their reprehensible organization."♫

Seh sets down the cup and focuses further on the woman, ♫"As for keeping the nobles on our side, that would be a great idea personally. There is a lot of money and political power in those houses, power that extends beyond Kintargo's borders and would add some legitimacy to our endeavor. We would hate to follow in the footsteps of Galt."♫

She turns and addresses Rocco, ♫"Given that he was appointed by the damned House of Thrune, few would be willing to oppose it. Add in the 'subtle' message behind the Night of Ashes, especially with the burning of the Victacora house, and it's a wonder that the nobles aren't singing his praises in public, at least. And we shouldn't be turning away potential allies, especially wealthy allies."♫

A halfling in a teahouse employee outfit sneaks up to the table as Lirotha plies her trade and seems clearly interested in the fortune telling. He watches with interest, but clearly shows off Elurius's stylized silver raven embroidered over the breast of the uniform.

He watches for a moment and then asks, in a sing-song, nearly full on song, voice, ♫"Is there anything I can get you two? Also I would assume you will have more company soon, let me get some waters for them."♫

Disguise, Alter Self bonus?: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Question, until level 7 Elurius had a revelation that acted like Disguise self and gave a +10 bonus to disguise. But now she physically changes and it acts like Alter Self. Does she still get a bonus for disguise, is it her flat modifier, or does she not need to roll (except maybe to disguise her voice)?

Elurius comes downstairs, her hair having been done up and in a beautifully radiant silver bun. She pours herself a cup of coffee and looks at everyone else gathered around, discussing something. ♫"I miss something?"♫

She listens to the explanations again and then adds, ♫"WE should probably look at meeting with the woman then. Perhaps discuss what a 'Silver Council' would entail. Is it an alternative form of leadership for the city or something that controls the Silver Ravens? A group to organize and mobilize the forces of the Ravens or an information dispersal group? We would definitely have to define those before setting up the Council."♫

Yaaay! I'm super glad to hear this can continue! Whoot!

Now the question is, Val are you still wanting to pump the breaks with this game? And with Talon missing for well over a year at this point do we want to try getting someone else to fill the opening?

Also Elurius is picking up another revelation via feat, but I'm unsure whether to grab one that grants a continuous misdirection effect or a once per day 10 ft/level teleport effect.

Ugh, it's a complicated and sometimes frustrating subsystem that I feel the only direct impact on PCs would be to gather information or help in missions that went south, but we seem to be a pretty cautious group and know when to retreat and how to prepare for things, so the second part is harder to utilize. So personally, cutting it is fine!

Elurius wakes up the next morning, a 1000 gp less, and streches. She then heads downstairs from the coffee house bedrooms into he hidden rooms below to see how the move to the new location is going. She then gathers up the rest of he leaders and sits them down with a cup of Laria's specialty.

Allows us to take actions to roll twice and pick what event happens which is good. Some of those events are straight up nasty! However we could save our gold and focus on getting another team upgraded for 50 gp instead, allowing us to spread disinformation much more easily.

Actually if we were thinking about upgrading the team then we could have put money in in Phase 1 and not worried about this at all.

We'd end up at 266 gp of the 60 gp minimum, so it should be okay, but I'd want to then pump further gold into it to build things back up.

Okay leave it to the dice!
Options, 1=Upgrade helknights, 2=Upgrade Street performers, 3=Spread disinformation, 4=Reduce danger: 1d4 ⇒ 1
So that's upgrading the Hellknights but I lrealized that would take 1000gp and thus most of the money in the rebellion treasury. We would ahve enough money for the minimum treasury amount and could add in more next week, but it means we have to spend communal money so I thought would check. We also have a choice for them, either the cabalists which allows us to garuntee events and then pick one to resolve, which is powerful, OR we could get spellcasters, who allow us to spend the gold for the price scrolls of restoration spells and restore characters without needing a scroll or a caster, useful if the person needing healing is Elurius but otherwise, personally, questionable usefulness.

Female CG half-elf Oracle 7 | HP 47/47 | AC: 21 (+2 if both hands aren't in use), T: 14 FF: 20 (18 if both hands are in use) | Fort +4; Ref +4; Will +4 | Init: +4 | Perc: -1, SM: +3 | Speed 30ft | Spells: 1st 8/8 2nd 7/7 3rd 5/5 | Flicker 3/3 Healer's way 6/6 Counter-Song 7/7 Wand 41/50 | Active conditions: none

A few questions, do these new teams count against the maximum number of teams we can have? I know some of the teams from book one didn't count against it, but I can't remember which ones. If I'm misremembering and all of them count against the numbers then we need to look at possibly replacing a team or two.

Next who wants to lead the new teams? Elurius would be willing to lead the elves if that is okay with everyone, but the Hellknights need a leader too!

Phase 1:

Notoriety reduction, Hetamon and Rexus: 33 - 1d6 - 1 ⇒ 33 - (4) - 1 = 28 New score 28
Step 1, Supporter attrition, DC 10 loyalty: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Supporters lost: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Step 2: Notoriety maximum, not at 100, skip
Step 3: Treasury shortage, not short, skip
Step 4: Increase rank, didn't go over next rank threshold, skip
Step 5: Deposit/Withdrawl Needs imput from party

Phase 2:

Action 1/3: Covert Action!
Action 2/3: Recruit Supporters, DC 16 Elurius Cha bonus from Covert action: 1d20 + 12 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 5 = 21
Recruited: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 4) + 4 = 10
Action 3/3.... Not sure what to do: 1d20 ⇒ 5

I have no idea what to do with the third action that Talon should be giving us. We could try upgrading the Hellknights to either Cabalists giving us good control over events, or spellcasters which will be good for later levels when we might need to restore people, instead we could get the street performers up to being rumormongers allowing us to readily spread disinformation with a lovely +4 from Vendalfek. Additionally, we could also look at spreading disinformation or reducing danger.

Phase 3:

Just in case I can roll this, Event chance 95%: 1d100 ⇒ 17 An event, surprise!
What event?: 1d100 + 20 ⇒ (83) + 20 = 103

I rolled for an event just in case, but it is technically in the hands of the GM to roll.

She keeps her half orc guise under the invisibility and moves up behind half-dressed-and-half-cocked, giving a loud and as low and rumbly as possible, ♫"Boo!"♫ She then starts to cast a spell, her invisibility dropping showing a hulking half-orc who commands, with a magic force behind their words, ♫"Now Run!"♫ She then contemplates turning invisible depending on how far the man might get or how he reacts.

Elurius keeps eyes on the building, but is too caught up in perfecting her disguise before she goes invisible to be any help to the rest of her group.

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Elurius will never beat a 19 or above; she's too caught up in her own grandeur to see what's past her nose most of the time or, in her own words, 'I'm a presence to be watched and not a someone who watches others!'

Elurius can stay invisible around the building and cast create water on any places or people who look like they are potentially burning. If there seems to be some resistance to that she could also start spamming Command or Shamefully Overdressed. She will try healing as many people as she can to keep them alive, but might also want to start throwing in a command to flee the next turn with an intimidate to boot.

I was thinking of having Elurius give her self a code name something like the silver songstress buuuut that might be a bit too obvious. In retrospect just putting the Silver Ravens might have been a better course of action.

Elurius gives a small smile as the spell seems to take ahold of the man. She holds out a small letter, handed to the man ♫"Can you be a dear and read this aloud to everyone at the event today?"♫

The letter:

Dearest Brazalli Thrune,

Thank you for throwing what I am sure is a thrilling event. Sadly, I have to inform you that we could not attend. We appreciate the peaceful attempt at bringing our group's activities to a conclusion. Sadly, we are not people to be openly trusting and have hundreds of things to be doing to accomplish our goals.

Additionally you should know, we are not going to settle for a few peace talks and lifting of some restrictions, too much has happened, from the Night of Ashes to all your commandments. This cannot continue, even if you abdicate control, this could readily happen again. Kintargo needs to be freed of your control, and until it has it's own ability to forge it's path we will continue our activities.

Please enjoy the rest of your time in our lovely city. It has sadly seen better days, as it seems to be in a chaotic tyrannical mess right now, the famous operas shut down, soldiers from out of the city harassing the citizens in it, religious fanatics using their power to beat down other groups, and citizen groups roaming the streets and harming anyone they find 'seditionistic' even if there's no evidence. We are ashamed you have to see it like this, and hope to clear these issues up, but sadly I think such a day and you being here would be mutually exclusive.

Anyways please enjoy your leisurely indulgences. We'll be staying busy rebuilding the city.

With the best of wishes for our lovely city,
The Silver Ringer

P.S. Please don't hurt the guard. He doesn't know exactly what he is doing, and you'd be killing a loyal man to you.

No warnings. We won't block the doors or windows however. All they have to do is run away and they should be fine. If they stay and fight or whatever, then they a are at the mercy of whatever is going on. They chose to work for Thrune and his despotic family here in Kintargo. They don't deserve mercy when they give none to anyone else. My idea basically goes...basically a Hit and Run?

1. Summon Monsters (Small Fire Elementals?) to run around and start things on fire.
2. I fly over and throw a 'Fireball' or two into the upper floors through windows or arrow slits, maybe also a 'Swarm of Fangs' inside the building too.
3. We then try and make sure the fire doesn't spread to other buildings, then we run away.

Any suggestions on improving this?

Okay, not trapping them in is good enough for me! Cause otherwise we'd be pretty to close to straight up murdering them...

As for improvements, Elurius could take up a spot slightly out of the way and try casting spells that might further embarrass any people who try running away (shamefully overdressed, command, burning disarm, suggestion, hideous laughter).

Or they could be combined! for the FLAMING BUG CATASTROPHE Muahahahaha!

Hrmm. I might be able to use a few scrolls of summon monster under the guise of invisibility, if we want to have attacks from multiple points simultaneously.

As for trying to keep people in the building, Elurius could ensure that anyone who can get out of the building gets commanded to go back in or force them to drop their weapons. I might also, finally, be able to use shamefully overdressed on someone!

Might I ask, for the sake of keeping Elurius' conscious clear, that we give them a warning and a chance to surrender and be escorted from the city before we completely slaughter them?

Under the disguise of a dwarven baker, whose sing-songy voice is almost a song in and of itself, Elurius spends the next morning going around the barracks trying to sell bread, and surreptitiously asking about whether she can bring the orders by later. She also keeps an eye open for a solider on his or her own that she might talk to without being noticed.

If she can find a solider who she can cast Suggestion on without being seen, she will try. DC 18 Will save to resist.

Hrmm, can I still try suggestioning someone? Under disguise, of course, and not taking them back to any place critical. On the off chance that Thrune hasn't prepared for this extensively, and giving him a letter that would probably end up in his hands even if the spell and man is discovered. Otherwise striking at the barracks sounds fine!

Oh, and Lirotha, I think you're the de facto party leader! :D I have no out of character objections at least (though Elurius doesn't quite trust her).

And I'm still for kidnapping a soilder or Thrune lackey and using him to fulfill a Suggestion that he deliver a message for us. If Thrune attacks the man he'd be hurting his own position whereas he could readily catch and torture the silver Val-raven-i. Did this group get silver raven figurines? Cause you could use them instead of sending a core leader and risking them (and splitting the party!)

Barracks is my first choice as well. And then Church and finally the Citizen's Group.

The barracks would help weaken military strength and is the least likely to backfire on us.

The church is problematic and could probably do with being handled, but also has potential for risks and problems

The citizen group would potentially be a PR nightmare!

Knowledge (Local, can attempt untrained): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Elurius stops to think of things she might remember about the city... And the comes up with something. ♫"I remember hearing about this High Priest Corinstian Grivenner who works hand in hand with Thrune. He tries to aid in keeping the “peace” in the city. But several members of his church regularly go out and attempt to round up or beat down other religious orders to keep them from organizing, for example the local Shelyn worshiping painting guild got attacked a few weeks ago. Shutting down one of the bases for these wandering bands of Asmodeans will likely focus more negative attention on Thrune himself."♫

♫"Well, why don't we send a representative in our place instead? We could readily kidnap a soilder or two and give them a suggestion that they should deliver a message for us? While at the same time making a public display of a barracks? If we can get the timing right we could give Thrune and everyone watching information about what we just did to barracks Alpha-Alpaca or whatever. Give the people a very public symbol, undermines what ever Thrune is planning with the meeting, and undermines the power all at the same time, without putting who we are on display!"♫

Elurius has suggestion as a spell known and could cast it enough times for one of them to stick.

Elurius pauses at Lirotha's words. ♫"Right, now that is a good idea! I hadn't thought about hostages, and if we were obviously somewhere else, if Thrune takes hostages it won't hurt our reputation while dragging his into the mud even further.... Now would it be greedy of me to suggest we prank a few barracks instead of just one?"♫
