MYSTERY
Each oracle draws upon a divine mystery to grant her spells and powers. This mystery also grants additional class skills and other special abilities. This mystery can represent a devotion to one ideal, prayers to deities that support the concept, or a natural calling to champion a cause. For example, an oracle with the waves mystery might have been born at sea and found a natural calling to worship the gods of the oceans, rivers, and lakes, be they benign or malevolent. Regardless of its source, the mystery manifests in a number of ways as the oracle gains levels. An oracle must pick one mystery upon taking her first level of oracle. Once made, this choice cannot be changed.

REVELATIONS
Healer’s Way (Su): A Pei Zin practitioner combines alchemy, acupuncture, and divine magic to heal wounds by touch. She can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 1 + her Charisma modifier. With one use of this ability, she uses positive energy to heal the target of 1d6 hit points for every 2 oracle levels she has. Using this ability is a standard action unless the oracle targets herself, in which case it is a swift action. Using this ability requires only one free hand. This ability counts as a paladin’s lay on hands ability for the purposes of feats, spells, and effects that work with that class feature when it is used for healing purposes. Unlike lay on hands, this ability cannot be used to harm undead.

This ability replaces the revelation gained at 1st level.

Flicker (Sp): You can flicker from sight for a short time, allowing you to escape or set up a prank. As a swift action, you can disappear for 1 round per oracle level. This ability functions as invisibility. You can use this revelation a number of times per day equal to half your oracle level (minimum 1).

Assumed Form (Sp): You can change your appearance at will, as disguise self with a caster level equal to your oracle level. At 7th level, you can instead physically transform, as alter self. At 11th level, this ability lasts until you dismiss it or use it again, allowing you to keep it active while you sleep.

Capricious Misdirection (Sp):

CURSE
Song-Bound: Whenever you speak, you are compelled to sing loudly, and you draw out even short utterances with vocal scales or simple melodies. You cannot speak in less than a loud voice, although you may choose not to speak. You can perform the countersong bardic performance (using Perform [sing] only) for a number of rounds per day equal to your oracle level. If you gain the bardic performance class feature, these rounds are in addition to any other bardic performance rounds you gain, but they can be used only for the countersong bardic performance. At 5th level, add command and suggestion to your list of spells known. At 10th level, add 1 to the difficulty class of saving throws against language-dependent spells you cast. At 15th level, add greater command and mass suggestion to your list of spells known.

Pei Zin Practitioner 1MASTER HERBALIST (Su):
A Pei Zin practitioner has mastered countless alchemical techniques that supplement her divine powers and greatly aid her when she heals the sick and wounded. She gains a competence bonus on Profession (herbalist) checks equal to 1/2 her oracle level (minimum 1), and uses her Charisma modifier in place of her Wisdom modifier when attempting Profession (herbalist) checks. Additionally, a Pei Zin practitioner can identify potions as if via detect magic using Profession (herbalist) instead of Spellcraft, and she can attempt such a check after holding a potion for 1 round. This ability replaces the additional class skills the oracle gains from her mystery.

Half-elves who strive to embody the culture in which they live develop a keen instinct for the ebb and flow of fashions, fads, and political trends. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) checks and can use those skills untrained even for checks with a DC of 10 or more. This racial trait replaces elven immunities.

FRAUDULENT
To obtain and keep a position at court, some half-elves aren’t shy about exaggerating or fabricating claims to nobility. Half-elves with this racial trait gain a +1 racial bonus on Bluff checks, Knowledge (nobility) checks, and Linguistics checks to create forgeries. They need to spend only half as much on accessories (such as the jewelry required to accessorize a courtier’s or noble’s outfit) to appear suitable in a courtly setting. This racial trait replaces keen senses.

MULTIDISCIPLINED
Born to two races, half-elves have a knack for combining different magical traditions. If a half-elf with this racial trait has spellcasting abilities from at least two different classes, the effects of spells she casts from all her classes are calculated as though her caster level were 1 level higher, to a maximum of her character level. This racial trait replaces multitalented.

DIVA IN TRAINING
Category: Campaign

The opera is perhaps the most important and prestigious form of entertainment offered in Kintargo, and the Kintargo Opera House is among the most famous of its kind. You’re hardly a superstar among the performers who’ve graced the stage there, but you have performed several times before in small parts. Just recently, you got your big break—you’d won a role in the infamous opera Huntress of Heroes, and had been studying for the role furiously before the onset of martial law dashed your plans to the dirt. Now that the Kintargo Opera House has been claimed by Barzillai Thrune, all shows have been canceled and your chance at success seems to have been lost. Yet you can’t lose hope. You still practice your skills, and some day, perhaps the Kintargo Opera House will open its doors again, at which point you intend to be center stage!

Choose one type of Perform skill. Sing You gain a +1 trait bonus in that specific Perform skill, and all Perform skills are class skills for you. You also increase the save DCs of all language-dependent spells and effects you create by 1.

EXTREMELY FASHIONABLE
Category: Equipment

You really know how to make a good impression when you’re dressed well. Whenever you are wearing clothing and/or jewelry worth at least 150 gp (and not otherwise covered in gore, sewage, or other things that mar your overall look), you gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate checks. One of these skills (your choice) Bluff is a class skill for you.

DANGEROUSLY CURIOUS
Category: Basic (Magic)

You have always been intrigued by magic, possibly because you were the child of a magician or priest. You often snuck into your parent’s laboratory or shrine to tinker with spell components and magic devices, and frequently caused quite a bit of damage and headaches for your parent as a result. You gain a +1 bonus on Use Magic Device checks, and Use Magic Device is always a class skill for you.

ELVEN REFLEXES

Requirement: Half-Elf

One of your parents was a member of a wild elven tribe, and you’ve inherited a portion of your elven parent’s quick reflexes. You gain a +2 trait bonus on initiative checks.

FLAGBEARER (Combat)
When brandishing a f lag adorned with the standard of an organization you owe allegiance to, you inspire nearby members of the same allegiance.
Prerequisites: Cha 15.
Benefit: As long as you hold your clan, house, or party’s flag (see page 293), members of that allegiance within 30 feet who can see the flag (including yourself ) gain a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects. You must hold the flag in one hand in order to grant this bonus. If the standard is taken by the enemy or destroyed, this bonus becomes a penalty, affecting all creatures that the bonus previously affected for 1 hour (or until you reclaim the lost flag).

Elurius tries to put up as many protections and spells on people as she can before combat starts or prepares to cast them before opening doors. In the first round of combat she pulls out her silver raven flag and casts any protections she can get up easily.
In further rounds, she puts up more protections, buffs or heals as needed. If there aren’t any she can set up easily, she casts her debuffs on the enemy. Failing that she moves into melee range and uses her heavy mace.

Background:

Elurius’s childhood was what you would expect of a typical child from nobility around Kyonin. Her father an elf nobleman and her mother a human princess, both madly in love with each other and very kind and supportive. As she grew up, she heard tales of the wonders of the Chelaxian Opera, and became enamored with the spectacle that befitted a woman of her standing and noble upbringing. When she turned 16, with her parents blessing she made her way to Kintargo and started her quest to become the best diva the city had ever seen! It was the perfect childhood… if it weren’t a complete fabrication.

Elurius didn’t have a childhood, in fact she didn’t even exist until a half-elf by the name of Aika Ori created her.

Aika had grown up with three things: her family of her mother, her grandmother, and her; the family apothecary; and the rock solid assurance that elf men were bad news! Her grandmother, Hana, always told her the story of how she once belonged to a Minkai noble family known for their skills with herbs and healing. However, one day, an elven scoundrel wooed Hana and then got her pregnant, forcing her family to disown her and exile her. The man had stolen her honor, and cut her off from her family and money, forcing poor Hana to flee to Kintargo and have to set up an apothecary. She then raised her daughter and then subsequently Aika as well.

Aika learned the trade of Pei Zin herbalism well, helping out her mother and grandmother from a young age, initially just carrying things, but then learning the basics and finally making her own remedies. She also started getting an allowance and discovered a love of the Opera, visiting every time she’d saved up enough for a cheap seat. She fell in love with the performances of Shensen and many of the other opera divas, star struck by their brilliance.

One time, after a performance, Aika came home to hear her mother talking to a man. She thought to surprise the two before she realized her mother had been crying. Aika burst into the room to find an elven man standing there and, incised, chased him out of their house. She then forced her mother to explain what had happened, and for the first time learned about her father, whom she’d just evicted.

She started secretly visiting her father every now and then, hoping to learn more about him, slowly overturning her prejudices against his race. She then thought to try succeed where her mother had failed and convince her grandmother that not all elven men were the devil. Her grandmother, like with her mother before, caught wind of her actions and confronted Aika. Unlike before though, Aika didn’t bend to her mother’s will and fled home. Aika went to her father, hoping he would take her in, but the man turned her away, unable and unwilling to take in the 16 year-old.

Aika ended up on the street, singing the opera songs she’d learned by heart to herself. By random chance a young nobleman happened to walk by, and piqued by her singing, asked her about how she’d learned to sing that well. Aika, on a whim, decided to make up a story about Elurius Parthreon, and how she’d been beset by bandits and lost all of her money and things. The nobleman took her at her word and took Aika home with him.

At first, Aika was embarrassed to be given free food, clothes and lodging, but she’d dug herself a hole and couldn’t readily escape it. But after a bit she discovered Elurius could do things that Aika couldn’t. Elurius could color her hair whatever color she wanted, Aika couldn’t without making her grandmother angry. Elurius could sing out loud and wear pretty clothes, Hana’s presumptions of what was ‘proper’ wouldn’t allow Aika to even think of that. Elurius could do and say whatever she wanted, Aika couldn’t. So Elurius decided to abandon her old life, finding a sense of freedom and whimsy in her new persona.

The day after her decision, Elurius woke up and found she couldn’t talk without singing. At first, it scared her but she soon found the constant song and lyrics passing through her head comforting. She passed it off as a commitment to her ideal of being the best opera singer Kintargo had ever seen, basic spoken words being beneath her. With her ‘self-imposed’ curse came powers: the ability to cast spells and even vanish for a short time.

On the brink of her first major debut as a major lead in an opera, Thrune and the night of ashes quickly cancelled the show. Afraid of the rumors that Shensen and many other prominent singers had disappeared, Elurius decided to take refuge with the noble family that had been sponsoring her for so long. That is until she heard word of a certain group...

Moving forward:

Nothing major for level 6 or 7 but around level 8-9 (probably 9 to avoid delaying Blessing of Fervor), I'm thinking of giving Elurius a level of bard and a Banner Ancient Kings, allowing her to give a +4 to hit and damage a combat. If I can get her to reconcile with her past, I'd love to take the Masked Performer archetype, in particular.
