I for one welcome our Glowy eyed overlord.

Can't remember the last time Maldris did anything for the cause unless it was covering his keister.

Overlord/lady?

Hardly.

Liberty's Edge is about choices, about freedom, about the ability to choose one's own path while gaining Enlightenment and educating others in what it means to be free to do so themselves.

One will grant one the comment about Maldris, however.

He handed me his weapon in on particular instance rather than face a particular situation himself. Disappointing from someone who is supposed to be leading a great organization.

I remember that situation quite differently. He had a houseful of guests to calm down and lead to safety while he lent a powerful weapon to those fighting outside.

I've taken down bigger tyrants than you...

And even still, it's death will only scratch the surface of proper repayment for what it has done to us."

Sabanuer, (an underworld-red-dragon-blooded dragon disciple) looks forward to being sent back to eradicate what the first team of Pathfinders could not.

(It still counts if it's via GM credit, right?)

Don't worry, took her down for you. Some Taldan princess convinced her to throw a party when we got there. Gave me plenty of time to set up, then it was dead before it knew there was a fight.

"As much as I hate to admit it, the Major's... persistence with ladies has tipped us off to danger at least once while I was on mission with him. If he ever tries it with me he'll, hmm... well, he might end up with a blunderbuss up his ass, he might not."

I put giant holes in Krune then cut his head off. Does that count?

Liberty's Edge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Oh, if only I could have a Double-Hackbut, for just this one mission.

Krune: "Mwa-ha-ha!"
Me: "Welcome to the 48th century."
Krune: "Huh?"
Me: *Blam goes the cannon.*

Liberty's Edge

I have a wand of it that I give to the party wizard, let him cast it on me.

Liberty's Edge

All right, calm down a bit. I'll admit I've been a bit out of the loop this year. (Haven't played much season 4) And one of the things I got this year did concern me. But how often have you actually been told to do something objectionable? Bad knews stands out more than a standard mission.

But here's the counter - how many times has he sent you out with orders specifically to stop your comrades from killing someone? How often has he sent you out to rescue someone or to liberate a group of people? Maybe he's having some trouble, needs a vacation or something. It can't be easy organizing all these tasks for us. Hell, it can't be easy just getting all those little notes to us.

But he's done a lot of good. Maybe he just needs some help.

Liberty's Edge

Give her a boat to pilot. We were sailing down a river and for some reason I wound up piloting the boat. As that took part of my action every turn, my action economy was shot to hell, and I was way off for the whole fight.

Hmm. So it sounds do-able, but staff opposes it.

I'm trying to plan things out, and am trying to reconcile fluff with character abilities.
I've got a Gunslinger / Inquisitor of Milani, moving up in the Andoran Faction (37 fame). In a few sessions, she'll be a Knighted Captain Eagleknight - she really likes the country. (She's from Brastlework in Cheliax, but renounced Cheliax).

I'm thinking of giving her levels in Shieldmarshall of... Andoran? Problem is, it's fluffed for Alkenstar. But Alkenstar seems to be in a Shrodinger's State in PFS along with Numeria - it exists on the map, but never mentioned in any scenario.

She'd be bringing her own guns, would already be level 9 or 10 (so almost retired anyways). I guess she could just become a "Shieldmarshal of Alkenstar on permanent diplomatic loan to the country of Andoran" in a "Law Enforcement Exchange Program".

If not that, then just more inquisitor and more gunslinger I guess. Anyone have thoughts on how to fluff this, or to what extent I'm allowed to fluff?

The last table I played in at the con. Here you can see a wild-shaped druid (carrying a musket master inquisitor), the druid's animal companion, a summoned monster, and Kita Sharpclaw. Also present are a two-weapon fighter, my Monk, and the two unfortunate guards that were tasked with blocking our progress. One of them is down and out, and the other is grappled by Kita. I believe this is part-way through the first round; by the end of the next round the remaining guard had been repositioned under water, had taken full attacks from the fighter and the monk, and been bitten in half by a dinosaur.

That's me on the dino! The water in the cave kept getting my powder wet and making me misfire, so I found some high ground.

You should count yourself lucky for having glossed over the final combat. In the 6-7 Tier, it’s really brutal, and can easily go south real quick for the players.

I do! Once I logged on here to finally read this massive thread, I realised how dangerous a battle it was. I carry some cold iron and some ghost-blanched bullets, but probably not enough to cover for everyone else not piercing DR. The rest of the party... one monk had adamantine gauntlets, I don't think there was anything else we had for getting through DR. (Gun inquisitor, tank inquisitor, two sunder monks, Kyra & Myrisiel)

Oh yeah, also had fun with Bedard and his infamous beard. Being Andoran, I was already keeping an eye on him. As soon as the GM started "If anyone has reason" I saw where that was going and shoved my hand on his mouth and had Forced Quiet ready to cast. Took the GM a bit to figure out how to continue if we pre-empt him from making his speach, but we worked it out.

I had a blast with the mission. We didn't get all the way to the end of it and had to wrap up early, but the first 4 hours were the best anyways.

We did pretty well on our influence rolls. Having two inquisitors with the Conversion Inquisition (Wisdom instead of cha on social checks) helped a lot.

Nigel was entirely wrong though. Every mission he's been in, he's Alfred from the batman movies - not some elf in glasses.

No shadow lodge people, so when we got to the boat with the girls, we tried to talk, then they attacked us, so the two monks in the party sundered all their weapons, we dropped a couple goons, then grabbed the girl and made the big guy surrender. He didn't, so I shot him some more.

Things got fuzzy then. The GM explained the attack for when we get back, but we'd already done 4 encounters and everyone needed to get home, so it was a pretty cinematic description of the last fight without much rolling. I haven't read the stats, but I'm pretty sure with the ruby prince (and his fire elemental?), a bunch of hellknights, some venture captains, and the blakroses around, I can't see some level 6 field agents contributing much to the fight.

So, when I roll to ID the monster, is "What's the most important thing for Elsi to know about the critter?" a valid question? Assuming the GM is already familiar with my character.

(For my gunslinger / inquisitor of Milani)

I don't mind talking a bit.

1. Why are you a Pathfinder?
Milani told me it would give me good oportunities to strike at oppression across the world.

2. Do you have a name and surname that is not ripped straight out of existing Earth mythology or popular culture?
Elsi Ambustiana is my chelaxian name. I was adopted by an alchemist known as "the burned one." (Roman translation). My Garundi name is Kartek (egyptian for "Spark Carrier")

3. Which nation did you grow up in? How did this nation influence you?
Ethnicaly Garundi, but grew up in Cheliax, adopted by an alcheist. I fight against its slavery doctrine.

4. What do you look like? What are your wearing? How does this vary when you’re stalking through forests, sewers, deserts or in glittering cities?
(Looks like Zoe from Firefly). I don't know, I wear leather and mithral, carry around a musket. Pretty much everywhere.

5. What do you love? (Treasure and experience doesn’t count)
Fireworks & architecture. And sometimes they meet in interesting ways.

6. What do you hate? (Unclear and irritating darkness level rules don’t count)
Slavers and group orphanages. Direct adoption works fine, but those chelaxian orphanages are devil-spawned. And slavers... just deserve long deaths.

7. Which other Pathfinders (PCs) do you rely on for teamwork, survival and butt-kicking? Do you have a bro? a mentor? a father figure? maybe a rival?
Dash is good to work with. He's an effective magus. A bit crazy though.

8. How does your race influence your views? Are you a stereotype of a certain race? How are you different from most humans/elves/gnomes/orcs/tengu?
Well, I try to return to my Garundi heritage when I can, but being raised chelaxian comes out more often than I like.

9. What are you afraid of? Do you have any phobias or worries?
Dogs. I'll put up with them if I have to, but if one looks at me funny, it'll likely lose its head.

10. What is your most treasured possession?
My musket. My father helped me build it, and it'll be with me till I die.

Liberty's Edge

I'm playing around with the idea of the Alkenstar Shieldmarshal, and how broadly it can be applied. It doesn't list alignment or nationality as a requirement, so what about say, a Chelaxian lawman? Or a chaotic Andoran doing investigative work in foreign lands? Guns are rare in other countries, but available enough to have a gunfighting lawman. Yes, the marshall gets CHA bonuses in Alkenstar that you'd have to ignore or reskin, but can the class as a whole work for other cultures?

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ****

Somewhat confused by the boon. Being a gunslinger/inquisitor, I don't have an animal companion, so it looks like I've got two options.

1. I take a level dip into Cavalier, Samurai, Oracle of Nature, or Falconer (it's a bird!), and get it as an animal companion. I think those are the only classes that get it at first level.

2. I get it as a mundane mount. Ok, assuming I can do that... chronicles always list a price when you buy something, but there's no price here. Do I get it for free, or do I have to pay the 1500gp listed in ultimate equipment?
