Hey guys, it's tall Adam here. It has been awhile since I've been around Wyverns Tale due to school, but I saw that this Friday was needing some gming for both slots. I know this is pretty short notice, and I am so out of the loop I wasn't sure who to contact directly, but I'd be willing to (ineptly) gm some low level games, like the goblinblood dead, or deleriums tangle. Hope you all are having fantastic holidays with your family & friends, and happy new year!
Thanks Chris, I appreciate you stepping up. I have some supplies for quest for perfection 3 from when I thought I was going to run it last week. Sign in sheet, faction missions, and chronicle sheets. I'd be more than happy to give them to you. Also, Thune, that is the game. Jason was super nice and changed the event being run since Rats of Round Mountain is a series you want to play all in order, and a lot of us (Or just me) wouldn't be able to do that. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Hello everybody, I was wondering if I could make a small request. It's no real biggie, but I'm hoping we could get 4 people for Jason's Rats of the Round Mountain game this Friday. I'm trying to get 1 more XP on Villini before the Doom Comes to Dustpawn event this Saturday (Looks to be a fantastic time!). Thanks for your consideration.
Hello everyone! I need some help building my Diplomat/Save-or-suck sorceress for PFS. I know very little about making caster types, I don't even know how metamagic works. My build is as follows Rakshasha Heritage Tiefling (+2 Dex +2 Cha -2 Wis) 7 Str 14 Dex 12 Con 13 Int (Probably should be con, but I like having skill points to play with) 8 Wis (Yes, I know will saves will make me their b@+$*, especially with Crossblooded) 20 Charisma My first feat will be improved Fiendish Sorcery, making my level 1 charisma level for sorcerer abilities 22, which is nice. Plus, my Serpentine blood allows me to affects animals, magical beasts, and monstrous humanoids as if they were humanoids who understood my language. I'll take all my Bloodline powers/spells from the Rakshasa Side, but due to my ridiculously low amount of spells known due to Crossblooded, I need help with my spell selection, or tricks to increase my spells known (Don't know that any actually exist). The character's concept is all about controlling the minds and senses of those around her, using stuff like Charm Person, Dominate, invisibility, alter self and such to enthrall would be enemies and useful pawns. Her absurd Charisma is going to make the saves value for her spells cringe-worthy, but I'm still having trouble keeping with the flavor of a decadent Rakshasa Aristocrat and still be able to help my team in a fight. Any advice on multi-purpose, synergistic spells that benefit from a high save value would be incredibly valuable. I'll only know 1 non bloodline spell until level 3! And thanks to anyone reading this, I appreciate whatever help or advice you may, or may not have.
Wow guys, you are really helping me out with this, thanks so much for everyone's input! I'm happy to find out I could actually make a cleric work with the concept. Sadly, I am unaware of a sorcerer/bard archetype that lets it work with wisdom, or else I'd be on that like blood on clownfangs. Heck, I could just dumpstat wisdom and int (Using the bonus to prevent horrifibad will saves) and put my points in Charisma. Aberrant is looking to be my #1 choice so far, with the spells you listed tickling my fancy quite fine. Also, Pizza, that is a FANTASTIC idea, I am absolutely beelining for that item. Again, I want to thank you guys so much for all these great ideas to work with!
Would that work? I thought Clerics literally had to name an exact deity to worship, because there are some pretty cool domains that could work. Bard is definitely an idea, the character doesn't have to be completely maximized, but I had the same worries about going Charisma based. It would synergize with combat Intimidating though. Thanks for the response! Oh, and Mikaze? Exactly.
Hello Gentlethings! I hope I've found you on a pleasant evening, as I may be making a rather lofty request of you all. I need some help putting together a concept I've been dying to try out, a Qlippothi-Spawn that uses a clown's wardrobe to hide his(it's?) hideous mutations (Skin is as pale as clown makeup, Wig covers up head tentacles, Clown nose covers up finger-for-nose, body is a tumor-ridden chaotic tangle covered up by baggy clown jumpsuit). I've always been a fan of the abomination clown concept (Loves me some IT and Killer Klowns From Outer Space), and I'd like some help thinking up a mechanically viable build for one. The core concept of the character is that he should use Fear as his main strategy. I'd considered going a dazzling display route, but that's a poor substitute for the psychologically destructive arts of Pennywise, especially with such tempting fair as Phantasmal killer, cause fear, and the whole menagerie of fear based magics. The thing is, I've never built a caster before (Literally, never), so I'd really need a lot of help figuring out how to make one. Especially a +2 str +2 Wis -2 int one. Further constraining my options, is the fact that I wouldn't consider an ancient abberant spawned clown to be very religious, so I'd rather stay away from Inquisitors/Clerics unless there is a particularly awesome Qlippoth deity I've never heard of. I'm sorry if I'm not giving you guys a lot to work with here, it's just that I make my characters concept first, and am often completely daunted by the crunch. Another facet of the character I think would be fun, is having clown descriptors on all kinds of battlefield tomfoolery. Acid splash is coming from a flower lapel, Shocking Grasp is a Joy Buzzer, Dirty trick (Blind) could be a pie in the face (I'll have to buy so many pies, I wonder how expensive they will be...), et cetera. Any advice you guys could give would be warmly received by myself, and feel free to chime in if you've had similar concepts that you wanted to get a few tips on as well. There are no wrong answers, only a wrong original question (I am so cementing my reputation as the guy who makes "weird characters" at my group...). For inspiration:

Hey Everyone! This is Adam. A friend of mine is considering joining me for Pathfinder this Friday. He's done some P&P RPGs, but he's never played Pathfinder Society before. We were planning on joining the Feast of Ravenmoor module being run from 12:30 - 8:30 this Friday. He'll be using a Pregen, and I'll be using my new level 2. Just checking in with everyone if there's something special I should be doing to help induct him into the death cul- I mean Lodge. I've linked him to Paizo and the Society resources. He's a very smart man, so I'm sure he'll pick the rules up immediately. On an unrelated note, I just want to say, as a new inductee, how generally superb everyone and everything in the lodge has been, thanks everybody!
Oh, damn, I'm sorry Paul. I already had the Craft (Alchemy) read-up all typed up, but I changed it after I saw that Rainy day had already answered it. What Jake Dodd meant with "They get a discount" is that you still have to pay for Alchemical materials (I don't have the core rule-book handy, but I believe it's something like 1/10 1/3 of purchase price), so all Craft (Alchemy) does is allow you to circumvent part of item cost by devoting time to your craft skill (Which can be around a day's work for a single flask of Alchemist's fire, from what I've read on various forums). I don't want to sound like I actually know what I'm talking about, I've just been bouncing around a lot of pathfinder resources trying to figure out how Alchemist's work. Again, I'm kicking myself for not posting the full read-up earlier, sorry I made you look all over the place Paul. Also, So am I correct in assuming most people are planning to go this Friday despite the weather forecast?
Ha, I was just about to answer that when I refreshed and looked up at RainyDayNinja's answer. Yeah, Alchemists are special little butterflies when it comes to that. So I'll be sitting on my folding chair sipping Alchemist's Kindness while y'all peasant-classes haggle with the merchants (hehe). I was surprised at first too, especially since it was difficult for me to separate Potion brewing (which is 100% illegal) and Craft(Alchemy). Oh, and guys, the weather forecast for Friday looks nearly as bleak and icy as last. Is there any plan on cancelling/stopping early? If the group is still going Friday it might be hard for me to get back to Mars Hill, does anyone know of a really cheap bed and breakfast/place to crash until Saturday (I'm good at cleaning ceilings in exchange!)?
Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. Oh wait, did you only need the Alchemist kit bag to do Craft (Alchemy)? I thought it was like a Wizard's spell book for Alchemists to make bombs/extracts/mutagens/LSD. As for Friday, we're in the same game, I'm Adam Arndt. Looking forward to adventuring with you all, I just hope the weather is a lot better this Friday than last.
Hey guys, I recently reread the section on using pregen credit, and I'm still confused on how I should set up my character for my first game this Friday (Hopefully). I played a full module (Masks of the living God) with a level 4 Samurai pregen. I'm wondering if I may use the 3 experience, 4 prestige, and some or all of the 3,711 gold, earned with my pregen, at level 1 of my new character, or if I MUST wait until level 4 for my rewards (which would immediately jump to level 5, if my understanding is correct). I ask because this effects how much money I have to buy equipment, and my entire character sheet for when I show up. I don't want to slow things down for everyone, or lose my spot on the table, because I completely misread the rules on this.
Thanks you guys for the all the help so far, taking Boon Companion was indeed part of my plan StrangePackage. My plan went something like this: level 1 Ranger with boon companion, then take 4 levels in Alchemist getting the Smoke bombs, Stink bombs (Through extra discovery feat) and explosive missile discoveries. Then, I'd take 3 more levels in Ranger to give my vulture full health and the Huntmaster human feat to increase his level, bringing him to level 9 when I'm level 8 (From what I've read online, unlike normal rangers, the falconer's companion gets full level progression as if Ranger levels were Druid levels). I'd take Combat Reflexes, Bodyguard, Power Attack, and Improved Natural Attack as his feats (Remember, at intelligence 4 he can take all anatomically possible pathfinder society legal feats), so he'd basically just sit on my shoulder Distracting (Falconer special trick, shakens enemies on hit), and increasing my AC +2 with his feat, occasionally ripping out eyeballs with extra Attacks of Opportunity. With Grenadier 2nd level ability and Explosive missile I could infuse a Heavy Crossbow bolt with an Alchemist's fire flask and a bomb that emits a stinking cloud in a 10 foot radius as a full round action! Yes, the Explosive missile ability clearly states that you infuse, load, and fire a bomb-tipped bolt as a standard action, making the Heavy Crossbow fire faster than a light one (As long as you have bombs to use). Combined with dexterity mutagens and True Strike extracts (+20 to the next attack) my character makes for a situationally deadly, chemically fueled, Rocket-Sniper. Oh, and I had more of an aesthetics question for you guys, which 2 simple or martial weapons would you say best represent a butcher's knife (The huge, square bladed ones designed to chop through gristle and ligaments) and a meat-hook (My character's profession is Butcher)? I was considering the Cutlass and Sickle. Maybe Battleaxe and Light Pick? I hope this doesn't double post, Paizo ate my last post and I'm just lucky I copy save before I submit.
Wow, just as I was saying, friendly and hospitable! As for my earlier question about module credit, as much as I would love to attempt the pimping, I'd definitely choose the path that would get my character to level 2 as soon as possible. Am I correct in assuming I would be able to use the 3 experience from the module to boost my first, newly created character to level 2? Also, if I choose the Normal path as you said, would I somehow get the full gold payment of 3,711?(!) If that is the case (Or even if I were to only receive half that sum), is a newly made character allowed to purchase masterwork equipment at the start? Oh, and just to share, my character is going to be a Falconer/Infiltrator Ranger, then at level 2 switch to a Grenadier alchemist. This will be his Animal Companion, and only friend in the world (Who will be intelligence 4 due to Imperious Human racial trait) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_tf9O73vB8 Should be a fun first character.
Hello everybody! I'm a long time Warhammer hobbyist named Adam Arndt interested in learning about the Pathfinder society. The only tabletop role-playing experience I've accrued is a session, and module played with pregens at WT with Aly, baileyone and a few others. I was just so impressed by the whole group's friendliness and hospitality that I'd like to become a semi-regular adventurer in your group. Of course, I'm still utterly clueless about the complex process of character creation, but I've been slogging through research on it (And nagging Aly with my silly questions endlessly). I'm still a tiny bit confused about how my pregen characters achievements cross over to my first character. I was told the experience from the module would be enough to advance my character to level 2, but I'd take half the gold rewards from the scenario than if I'd bide my time. If I'm mistaken about this please correct me, as it figures largely into my character creation process. Also, I've found some of the wording on multi-classing indiscernible to my limited faculties, would there be a handicap or rule prohibiting me from putting 1 level in Ranger, 4 in Alchemist, then 3 in Ranger, and finally 4 in Alchemist to complete my character (Should he, somehow, survive that long)? Anyway, I don't want to clutter your message board with endless questions, especially since I'm not 100% this is the right place to ask! I hope this message finds you all at pleasant times, and that you all get around safely on the icy roads out there! |
