The Exchange 4/5

What are you planning to do with this one?

This PC is a dwarven fighter with the racial Foehammer archetype, and craft (weapons) as his day job. He's a blacksmith from a long line of Torag worshiping dwarven blacksmiths. He joined the Pathfinder Society as an excuse to field test his family's weapons, and meet business contacts in his travels to sell and distribute their weapons (Exchange faction).

Because of this, he absolutely refuses to use any non-dwarven weapon, and grumbles about "If i's nay dwarven, i's crap!" Yes, I embraced the stereotype. I dumped his charisma all the way down to 5, and try to fake a Scottish accent when playing him.

So he only uses weapons with the word "dwarven" in their name (dwarven longhammer, dwarven boulder helm, dwarven waraxe), along with warhammers. Because all warhammers are dwarven weapons. That's why they're Torag's favored weapon.

Something else I got the itch to do recently: we've all seen dwarf smiths, dating back all the way to Brokk and Eitri. They make mighty spells while hammers fall like ringing bells, blah blah blah (no disrespect meant to Professor Tolkien!)...but, what about a dwarven WOODCARVER? Who do you think makes the hafts for all those hammers and axes and picks? Who makes the tankards and barrels for their famous beer? As for why he's adventuring? Maybe he wants to learn from an elven master carver, or procure some rare wood to make a masterpiece out of. Maybe he's just sick of being teased for working with materials that other dwarves take for granted. It'd be fun!

"Tha's crazy talk! Why wou' any self respectin' dwarf wan' ta go out in tha worl' wit' a weapon tha' fragile? Even tha' hafts of me axes an' hammers are made o' metal! Fine, dwarven craftsmanship! Because if it's not dwarven, it's crap!"

Honestly, I could name more concepts I'm tired of than "builds".

• The grumpy, Klingon-minded, beer-swilling dwarf who is either a fighter or cleric, generally dislikes elves, and has a last name which references some mix of hammers, shields, and/or stone.

"What 'ave ye got agains' dwarves, eh? We dwarves forge th' bes' weap'ns on Golari'n! If i's nae dwarven, i's crap!"

A surly looking dwarf in the armor and weapons of a warrior walks in.

"I'm Dundar Hammerhelm. You'll have 'eard th' Hammerhelm name, o' course. No??? Well, SCREW ALL O' YA!!! We're th' fines' weaponsmiths in all o' Golarion! Only the best dwarven we'pons! If it's not dwarven, it's crap!!!"

For the rest of the session, Dundar will go on to brag to the group about his dwarven longhammer, dwarven boulder helmet, dwarven waraxe, etc. He only uses weapons with the word "dwarven" in their names, along with warhammers. All warhammers are dwarven. That's why they're Torag's favored weapon.

"Katana??? Was'sat? You wan' a weap'n wit' an edge, ah'll sell ya th' best dwarven waraxe 'n all o' Golarion."

A dwarf comes in and glares at Telessar.

"An elf makin' weap'ns? R'diculous! 'nly dwarves make weap'ns worth havin'! If it's not dwarven, it's crap!"

"Ya prolly all heard o' the Hammerhelm name. No? Well, screw you! We make th' finest weap'ns 'n all o' Golarion! Good dwarven craftsmanship. Just look a' this one 'ere."

He pulls out his finely crafted dwarven longhammer.

"We got yer dwarven waraxes, dwarven long'ammers, dwarven longaxes, dwarven boulder 'elmets, dwarven urgroshes, dwarven double waraxes, and war'ammers. 'Cause all warhammers are dwarven. Tha's why they're Torag's favored weap'n."
