Well while I figured out what was wrong -- their Gateway was not producing an IPv4 address -- but even telling them this they still said it was my machine -- however, they evntually pushed an update and now their Gateway is producing an IPv4 address and everything is working like it should and no changes were made to my hardware.
Okay folks finally got the time and a place I could post. First I moved and now my internet provider is only giving me partial access to internet and most of what I can get to is not something I want to get to and most of what I want or need to get to I cannot get to. They fixed it for about 1.5 weeks but then it went back to being an issue. They have now decided it is my hardware and will do nothing more until I can prove it is not my hardware. Highly annoying since nothing has changed with my machine but there router (and its replacement) are new elements. This means I have limited access to the internet (gmail, youtube) and when I would usually post is when I cannot get onto Paizo (due to the limited access not allowing me to get to this site). I have taken part of a day to come to the library to put this information out. As a player I would be sporadic at best but would still be willing to be a player just not sure how often I could post until I get my home machine fully operational.
Yes Halfling is a word that originally comes from the Scots word Hauflin, meaning an awkward rustic teenager, who is neither man nor boy, and so half of both. Another word for Halflin is Hobbledehoy or Hobby. These usages of the words pre-dates both The Hobbit and Dungeons & Dragons. The word is now commonly used in fantasy literature and games to describe a fictional race of beings that are half the size of humans. Of course, as stated Hin was outlined in DnD2e as the official name of the that race, and that they were okay with letting the stupid humans call them halfling was it caused those stupid humans to often underestimated their capabilities. So even back in DnD2e halfling was viewed as a derogatory term for the Hin race used by the uninformed or bigotted. As for Dromaar for Ork/Human mix and Aiuvarin for Elf/Human mix, these are outlined for Pathfinder 1e and I assume they carried this over to Pathfinder 2e as well. As for what you choose to refer to yourself as that is totally up to you. I was just checking if you knew that Pathfinder 1e had changed those racial names was all.
OCC: Hey not sure if you all aware but Pathfinder 1e has racial names and no longer uses the derogatory names that are akin to calling something a half-breed (or basically a deplorable lesser race) the Human/Ork mix is called Dromaar and the Elf/Human mix is called Aiuvarin. However, I do not think they fixed the half-ling racial derogatory name but then DnD2e's official name for that race was Hin not half-a-ling and just keep in mind calling them that per DnD2e marked the individual as being unintelligent by the Hin and worthy of exploiting. I mean the Hin would point to the fact that the individual does not even know what a Ling is thus have no idea what they are saying when they call them half of one especially when they are obviously not half of anything but fully Hin which is obviously a much superior race than the Humans that typically label them half of something they have no clue what it is they are supposed to be half of.

"Well Van, my condolensces as to your parents, but they are not completely gone, just in a different place and you may meet up with them again some day." With the arrival of another large cat, Dubhán strokes the shoulder of his to reassure it that all is okay. Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 He looks at the unusual cat as he has not seen such an animal before and than asks the Elf, "May I ask what manner of animal that is, for I have not seen one such as that in my travels?" When the other humanoid with Ork and Human heritage introduces themselves, Dubhán smiles and nods back, "Pleasure to meet you, I am Dubhán. May I assume you are an acquaintance of Van?" He gestures towards Van.
OCC: Yeah I am very big on role playing as that is what the game is supposed to be all about, is it not? Further, I concur it was nice of Van's player to extend the proverbial olive branch so that some role playing reason could be implemented to bring potentially complete strangers together for some quality role playing reason. Dubhán heard someone call out his name and being a bit surprised he looks about to see who it might be, as he was not expecting to encounter anyone here that he knew or knew him. He spotted the human that had called out his name, and then recognition slowly seeped in which then made the words they had spoken make sense. "Well I will be, yes a most unlikely event, but not necessarily a bad one. So what brings you here, are striving to begin adventuring again as you wanted to do previously?"
EltonJ in case you missed this and the reply to it here it is again... Dubhán wrote: OCC: ?? So why would I have any interaction with these strangers ?? I believe I asked earlier as well as attempted to create some kind of connection but far as I recall nothing happened nor was a connection outlined. Hedrak wrote: Good question :D
Hello everyone I will be joining soon -- the pic is the closest thing I could find but does not look at all like much like the character Dubhán could easily pass for a black skinned Hin (aka Half-ling) but he is an Eshu. This means he is a Fae humanoid that has a rather child-like appearance with pointed ears like an Elf but his mop of black hair often hides his ears. He tends to dress in rather colorful clothing preferring red, black, and white but will mix that with just about any other color as the whim suits him. He will often wear a hat of some kind and carry a short walking stick (aka a cudgel). He has a medium sized Tiger that he rides and he loves telling stories. He can also whistle a mighty fine tune, in fact it is so good that it can Inspire Tenacity or Courage within those that hear it. He is also rather intune with nature.
