Kjell, that skeleton is some sort of guardian. I think we must defeat it before we go through the small door. Let us not wait for it to act. Crush it if you can. She will try to target the thing with her evil eye hex, lowering its AC.

I am here. In fact I just got home from my trip last night and am catching up. Seems like Kjell and Druhir are a round or two behind. Druhir pointed out the secret door to Kjell but would have been happy to go whichever way the bloodrager wanted to go.

Hey all. Don't forget about me. Reading on my phone when I have wifi. Very hard to look at maps and post from phone though. Druhir will be careful and move to where she thinks other of the party are. She prefers the secret door to the others. Also she had a very good perception roll while combat was still going on so she might have heard something and could maybe get a general direction for the combat? So please bot me.

Unsure where Kjell's icon is.

From her vantage point in the room Druhir surveys what she can. Not sure what the mold is. she says to Kjell. What can you make out in the room. Looks like two doors. Hmm. She looks for details, magic auras, and tracks. And she listens for combat or other noises. The creature that teleported us has a somewhat limited range. We might here others if we listen.

Druhir will have the archon use its remaining duration lasering off the mold from both doors and anything else that loos interesting, as long as that does not raise a dust cloud or release spores.

More mold. Druhir states unhappily, wondering if it might be demonic in nature.

The lantern archon instinctually detects for evil on the mold before blasting a small section with a light laser. Not rolling here, just testing to see if any effect. Also it will cast Continual light on a splinter of wood before it eventually departs since it can cast that at will.

Lyr also considers the mold before blasting it with a Starlight Blast. 1d4 holy damage +1 for every step away from CG.

As Kjell moves to the door the lantern archon casts Aid on him at the witches diretion. It then casts aid on her as she heals it, healing it to full. It hovers happily over her head.

The witch resists the fearful presence of the undead and uses her split hex ability to target two Crypt Things that are not yet wounded with her icy tomb hex.

Cold Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 2, 8) = 13 DC 23 fort save for half. Don't forget the -2 from the auras. If they fail they are entombed in ice and are paralyzed and conscious and encased in 20 hp of ice. If they are broken out they are staggered for 1d4 rounds.

At the risk of complicating things I am going to post my Surprise round. Note that since this is a surprise round most of us cannot both move and attack. I think Tavius is good with a partial charge but no one else would have a charge lane as best I can tell.

Number of Lantern Archons: 1d3 ⇒ 3

The round before the door opens Druhir uses a Summon Monster IV spell to summmon 1d3 Lantern Archons. After the door opens, on her initiative of the surprise round, they appear in the room above the battlers bathing the undead enemy in their Aura of Menace. Each enemy must make a DC 13 Will save three times. If they fail even once they take a -2 penalty on Attacks, AC and saves for 24 hours, until they hit the archon that caused the effect. Note also that the Hound Archon has the same effect with a DC of 16. So each enemy must save 4 times to avoid the aura effect.

All three fire their light rays at the potential caster who is flat footed.

For her surprise action, she sees that the room is too small for the web spell. So instead she casts Glitterdust on all the enemy forcing them to each make a DC 20 Will save or become blinded.

So, with the luck bonuse Druhir's init is 9. With the small room I am not sure she can or should summon a Cerberai despite its advantage in controlling teleports. I wish you had mentioned you were summoning Andros. I had already shared my plan and now there is no room. :( Don't forget the Hound Archon's aura of Menace. I could do a d3 Lantern Archons?

Give me a moment to conjure. The witch says and her features change to old and withered. When everyone is ready she will begin her summoning spell, timing its completion with the opening of the door. She will likely follow it up with a web spell in the surprise round. Not sure because I'll need to see the map to know better where the enemy is.

Hmm. Interesting. but unless you have Improved Disarm you will provoke trying this maneuver UNLESS the enemy is flat footed. Druhir can cast Invisibility on Laurelin before all this begins.

Hmm. Do we have anything among us that you can use Laurelin as an improvised weapon? And you can still offer flanks, fight defensively, and aid another to hit or AC.

I think we need to fight this fight. It represents a lot of resources for us and we have surprise on our side. Plus the room seems like a great place to hold up if we need to.

Any recommendations on what to summon. Thinking about a Tiger who can pounce on the seated undead. Might be safer to summon something planar based on where we are. Heck I can ge a Cerberai.

GM SuperTumbler, any knowledge roll, or spellcraft roll to know about effects of summoning where we are? For that matter, do we believe that any other spell effects will be different here?

Druhir nods in the affirmative. I can try to summon help before we open the door. she says quietly. And web them while we have surprise. That may catch one or two of the warriors, allowing us to deal with a fewer number of them at a time.

The goal would be to cast web to catch all the warriors deep into the web but have the undead in the chair in but on the edge of the web.

Torn, Druhir will add quietly I am sure we could use the equipment and the room might serve as a safe place to rest if we can take it, but I am reluctant to go looking for trouble here. I suspect plenty of it will find us. What is the consensus?

With the door open Druhir steps back and smile. Addressing Kjell she says See big guy. Sometimes it pays to be patient. Door is open and no new piles of ash. I can see Druhir's biggest challenge is going to be keeping Kjell up and among the living. :P And I believe that its been less than a minute since we all woke up, so Kjell really is impatient. lol

It's really hard to make sense motive checks on players over text, so please tell me if I lay it on too thick. I want to have some fun in-character conflict, but if the players aren't having fun, I'll adjust his behavior.

LOL. No problem here. I am maybe a little more concerned with the Drow's thought bubble calling me a slave. Not sure everyone even caught that. But that concern would only be in character and he did not say it. So maybe Druhir should be concerned but has not thought to be.

I have mixed emotions about posting thoughts that might be derogatory or inflammatory. Its a way to poke at people where there is no in game way to respond since it was only a thought. I "think" those thoughts are better left unshared in most cases.

As Druhir sees the dark elf near the door like object she backs away a few steps and warns I recommend we spend a moment more organizing and preparing before we try to open that. Druhir needs her spell component pouches and her familiar. Also, I had asked a question about spells above the minimum from leveling that might be in her spell book (learned by her familiar in her case).

By level 10 I'd think she would have had the chance to learn quite a few additional spells. How about something simple like:

1st - 6
2nd - 5
3rd - 4
4th - 3
5th - 2
6th - 1

Sound about right?

Shaking her head to clear it a middle aged elven woman looks around and begins to curse in Abyssal as she gets to her feat. Looking about at first for threats and then to assess her surroundings and finally to those with her. Something small seems be moving around within her robes.

In lecture like fashion she continues as she casts a few spell on herself (Threefold Aspect and False Life). Baphomet is the patron of savagery. He despises civilization and culture and so encourages his followers to embrace brutal animal savagery and beasthood. Despite his brutal nature and beliefs, the Prince of Beasts has an intelligent mind, and he searches for a way to perfect savagery and brutality in creatures. I fear we are not part of that search. As she finishes speaking her appearance changes and she then looks younger and more vital.

If we've any chance to survive in this place then we better learn to work as a team. I am a witch, and a good one. I can curse and heal a little and have a selections of useful spells. But I do not fight with weapons well. We seem to be missing almost all our gear so I have no weapons at all. I have one spell of Mage Armor memorized today and can cast it on one of you. If you think you need it speak up.

I'd think we need some starting point or backstory. If this starts with all of us in the maze and not knowing each other some of you are likely gonna get icy tombed before we have a chance to become friends. lol.

K. So I'll stop worrying about having front liners. :) Looking forward to seeing how some of your builds work.

As for Druhir, her hexes are not subject to SR so she should always have a way to help. Plus with Healing hex she can do a very little bit of healing when its critical. I suspect we will face all sorts of creatures that are also lost in the maze and not just demons though. We shall see.

And all 6 of us have reported in. Sweet. I guess until we have gear none of us have a great AC. Who are our melee types? Kjell for sure I think. Anyone else? Once we are a team Druhir will be casting her mage armor on someone other than her.

After she has a chance to re-prep spells she can cast multiple mage armors on people, but until I know the circumstances of our transport to the maze I think I need to stick with my standard load-out of daily prepared spells.

And that reminds me: A question for GM SuperTumbler. Druhir has only her starting spells and the 2 spells per level that she has learned. Is it reasonable that by 10th level she would have found, purchased, and traded spells to have a few more spells she has taught to her familiar?
