M Half elf Ranger 1

loosing track a little on the kids, something about a sister? and i think I got it on Calib's fate

Dorian didn't bother wasting time as the others have things in order down here. Dorian started to escort the kids that he could once all in moving condition back upstairs. it didn't really take much to figure out the fate of any more that would be down here.

however, knowing the plight of these kids, his mind flashes again to the past. things that he strived to forget, but just cannot.

Once upstairs with as many surviving children as he can. he does what he can to find them some food and clothing.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian immediately assesses the new threat. and this one seemd a bit dangerous in comparison.

Dorian lines up for another shot at Bugsy.

bow shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 15 (+2 more if hes orc)

I really need precise shot

M Half elf Ranger 1

Round 1 actions

With a swift motion Dorian has another arrow nocked and ready to fire. taking aim is Lamm He lets it fly.

no adding bard bonus until I know where it falls in init

attack -4 fire in melee: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 3

knew my streak had to end

the shot goes wide as Lamm easily avoids the shot, but the onslaught of Dorian's companions will prove to be a tougher challenge.

M Half elf Ranger 1

it was humorous sarcasim don't worry. I just thought maybe I jumped the gun and did something wrong

M Half elf Ranger 1

ok I'm sorry all, I won't shoot anybody ever again...

1 person marked this as a favorite.
M Half elf Ranger 1

what? its simple, Dorian shot Lamm, Lamm is dead, next scene...

M Half elf Ranger 1

Sorry about that, guess there is a little bit of Noro in Dorian.

Dorian stayed his hand long enough to let the bastard speak, if anything he has learned some of who he is with.

the arrow remained trained on the orc brute, Lamm also needs to go.
he shifted in his mind between the two targets.

out of the corner of his eye Dorian spots the priest clasping his holy symbol, If his time in the church taught him anything, the priest was ready to save the child.

remember Dorian, you never have to fight alone. trust those that fight by your side until they give reason otherwise. concentrate on what you do best, and let others do what they do best. Dorian's training flashes in his mind.

Glancing over those that were called to this with him, Dorian sees much talent.

To be reminded of the bad times, the times that cost him his son, his wife, everything. Justice will come, my way

Dorian fires at Lamm

attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7

shame he isn't part orc

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian nocks and draws ready to fire. he steady's his aim. once the animal releases the girl or the girl is killed Dorian will fire.

he cares little about promises the others have made. these people are beyond mercy

ready action, once the girl is out if the line of fire and dafe (or dead) dorian fires at Tiggles

ready action rolls:

attack with bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

would have been awesome if it was crit

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian covers them as they descend into the hole. and will be the last down.

most of the children seem secure. and they are in much better hands than he could provide.

M Half elf Ranger 1

hey all still around just trying to figure out things...

will post soon

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian is pleased with the speed they took control of the upper levels. but still, there is no Lamm.

He makes his way to where the children are located. seeing that situation Dorian stows his bow and begins assisting with the children. he seems relieved that his fears were all for naught (at lest for now.)

he looks for the girl he spied earlier that appeared to have been singled out.

M Half elf Ranger 1

The door burst open and Dorian sees his first target, Giggles.

the doors barely his the ground when an arrow slices through air at the Half-Orc

bow attack + favored enemy: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26
dang missed the crit threat by one
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

M Half elf Ranger 1

i don't want to be in the river, that is just silly. i did not realize that was the river. so I guess I'm fine where I am then

M Half elf Ranger 1

hey Dorian moved, I put him by door #4 so that once the party started he was going to slip in that way to block possible escapes.

M Half elf Ranger 1

guess I'm ready, though I have no idea where we are all on the map, also any info on what I posted about a sniper position, also are there any windows?

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian just sighs and follows, his bow in hand. he is definitely not liking this plan, or lack there of.

Dorian keeps to the rear of the group. until they get close and then peels off to look for a suitable sniper position.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian seems a bit troubled at the direction things are going.

I don't really want to be the voice of opposition here, but I did want to warn you, it is my belief that lamm is using the children as human shields. We rush in ready for action, we may very well be looking at dead innocents.

Dorian looks toward those that profess justice and law, I am sure that is not something you are prepared to accept in the name of a greater good.

after a bit but of course, should you have your heart set on kicking in the front door and start blasting, then I will not stop you, and I will offer what aid I can. As long as I do not violate my morals.

To Dorian, "Which is missing? I recognize the half-orc - not by name, but by actions."

"Not knowing what the building layout is, I'm not sure how archery would fit, but I'm capable to swinging a sword."

Lamm's right hand man was not there, a fellow that I remember known as Yargin Balko

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian was quiet, mulling over what he found. it was not much different than the others.

but he does speak up, There are children, hostages perhaps, either way, we must tread carefully, or there will be children's blood on our hands.

Also I noticed one of Lamm's thugs was not there,

M Half elf Ranger 1

sorry all, keep trying to post then the 'honey do" list comes up

Dorian watches for a bit. his grip on his bow tightens he so wants to send a message but it would give himself away.

Dorian's thoughts go to his son, at least he was safe, for now.

Dorian makes his way back to the tavern to meet up with the others.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian stealth check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian never was much when it comes to these Harrow readings, nor was he much thrilled when it came to religious zealots either. Dorian finished his food that he took when he first arrived and was among the last to step out.

A fishery, by the docks, hmmm.

Dorian makes a mental note of the dwarf's Axe. one hour then and Dorian wanders on into the dimly lit streets seemingly heading toward the docks area. looking for signs of "homeless" especially children. someone that he could tail to get more information.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
survival to track if he finds someone: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

will only go until the hour is nearly up and then head to the Dwarf's Axe.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian listens to her words. he still does not buy into the cards dictating his fate. but still, something in her words, something called to him to draw.

the cad: 1d9 ⇒ 7

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian pulls his card from his pocket. looking it over, he then lays it on the table I don't normally believe in such things. but if it will make you feel safer, then I will listen

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian was mostly silet but the words of "justice" definately weighed heavy on him.

finally he decided to say his peace. Justice, You say we must bring him to Justice. It was Justice that took away my home. It was justice that took my wife. It was Justice that took my son. It was justice that took my faith. And, it was Justice that almost took me. I will give Lamm justice. The same justice that was shown to me.

with that Dorian fell silent. he turned away no longer facing the others, His head low.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian stands there silent. thoughts racing in his head. she lost her son, Fin...I...I'm sorry Dorian's son comes to mind, the son he will most likely never see again.

I will assist. he says, his voice confident. yet some turmoil inside still east at him. but somehow, ending Lamm might, in some way, put him at ease, still, Fin is all but dead to him.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian sat and listened when there was a break in the conversation, and wondering if this had been some mistake, he spoke, most likely to nobody in particular.

since introductions are going, I am Dorian. guide, for the Pathfinder lodge, well sometimes.

Nodding to those that speak of "dance" I prefer to dance, as you suggest, only when necessary.

he has some more of the food offered, and avoids the wine. instead drinking the water from his canteen.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Watching from the alley for some time, Dorian has spied each person as they entered.

he fishes the card from his pocket, giving it a glance, The Publican, probably nothing.

when he is pretty sure there are no others. Dorian makes his way to the entrance.

entering only a moment after the last to arrive, Dorian enters the room a thin man, half-breed with elf blood. he is dressed in worn mix of clothing and leather armor. a well used short blade and a bow with a quiver at the ready.

he looks about the room not sure what to expect, he has seen all of them but none have ever seen him.

unless addressed he spies the bread and takes a piece and makes his way to an open spot within the room, nodding a greeting to each as ahe passes.

M Half elf Ranger 1

I am working my way back into my games. so I am going to try and catch up. I hope there isn't too much missed.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Another restless night, leading to another troubled day.

Dorian awakens in another tavern room to the pounding on the door.

Payment is due, pay up now or you can find another hole to pass out in.

Dorian moans as he gets out of the bed. I hear ya, he grumbles, he thinks to himself, what has been 2 maybe three days, maybe a week? hell I don't even know how long since I decided to go clean.

he reaches for the coin pouch tucked under his pillow and spills out some coin to pay his debt. there is still one more that needed to pay a debt, and I am the one to collect.[/b] thinking of Lamm, glancing to his meager equipment. he notices the card.

hello, what is this?

he mutters picking it up to examine.

*Bang - Bang - Bang* You gonna open up or do I have to get the collector! the landlord yells through the door.

I'm getting it you fat... Dorian stops his response, no need to make more enemies than he already had.

flipping the card over he takes a read. [i]finally a lead, lets hope this one pans out.

opening the door. Dorian is greeted bu short fat unkempt landlord hand held out looking for his rent.

placing the pouch in the landlords hand. here, take it, another night of whoring awaits you.

Dorian slams the door before the landlord can respond.

He gathers his things and cleans up. heading out to the address on the card.

stopping outside he looks over the place. then scans the area for an ambush.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

he walks past, heading a little further down and cuts back across the street. taking up "residence" in an alley nearby the entrance. there he sits and watches for a bit, waiting to see if others are arriving.

M Half elf Ranger 1

I still remember my guard weekend at Fort Dix.

Friday was in the high 70's (F) and sunny,

we got some rain on Saturday and the temp. dropped.

by Saturday night we had hail, and Temps got down to the 30's

On Sunday we had frost in the morning, and when we came in off the artillery range, it was snowing, and we accumulated about 2 inches of snow.

had to change the tread of an M1 Abrams tank in the mud, slush and snow that day.

M Half elf Ranger 1

well now I see this is a bit lively..

guess I can post about me. if anyone actually reads my stuff...

live on the east coast of the US, good ole New Jersey, and no, the whole state isn't like in the Soprano's and no the women are not like the housewives of NJ.

but, the Soprano family is real (but not mafia) and I am a part of that family. ( my grandmother is Rose Soprano, her brother was Tony Soprano, and his son is father Ernesto Soprano).

And yes I have been to Atlantic City and have been there for Miss America pageants (met a couple actually) And yes the premise of Boardwalk Empire is based on true events/people.

M Half elf Ranger 1

glad to hear Salsa.

Dorian is still lurking about.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian was just a customer, but tired of owing to him. I really need to read some back stories here, make some suggestions, I don't think any have come my way.

otherwise I will just be the outsider that has a connection to a common enemy that none of you have ever met and know nothing about.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Just to post to say sorry salsa, will be waiting

I dont know if dorian will have any connection to someone, probably not

M Half elf Ranger 1

Here

M Half elf Ranger 1

The weather outside the tavern looks to be taking a turn for the worse. the wind has picked up, there is a heavy moisture in the air, the skys are darkening.

there is a storm brewing, There is an old Poem that says:

"By the pricking of my thumbs,
something wicked this way comes.
Then toll the bells both loud and deep,
God is not dead, nor doth he sleep.
The wrong will fail, the right prevail,
With peace on Earth, good will toward men"

"Ill winds mark its fearsome flight,
and autumn branches creak with fright.
The landscape turns to ashen crumbs,
when something wicked this way comes.

Crystal water turns to dark,
where e'er its presence leaves its mark,
and boiling currents pound like drums,
when something wicked this way comes.

A presence dark invades the fair,
and gives the horses ample scare,
for chaos reigns and panic numbs,
when something wicked this way comes."

The doors of the tavern fly open in the winds of the coming storm, standing in the doorway a thin half elven man long strangly hair, wet from the beging rain, a tattered scabbard holding an old short sword. and a weather beaten quiver of arrows and logbow at the ready.

the man enters and removes his wet cloak. with a shake he hangs it on a hook by the door.

he heads to the bar ordering milk and some stew.

He fumbles through his pouch looking for enough coin to pay. his hads show he is no stranger to hard times. he shakes slightly like one suffering withdraws of some addiction.

Dorian is updated all the stuff is in the profile.

I want Salsa's rolls....

well except for re doing the crunch with the rolled stats here is my submission.

I apologize for the story length, but this is an old 3.0 character I had at a table top game. I rolled on the GM's custom back story generator, then I took all the highlights of that to make a narrative.

I then took that and applied the necessary elements to blend in with this AP.

This character is the brother of a character that I played back in 1982 under AD&D rules

oh well guess I'll put this character back on the shelf.

wasn't expecting to be chosen anyway for this game.

Nicolai Fortescu wrote:

Okay, I updated Nicolai to fit in with the Curse of the Crimson Throne AP and rewrote his background to fit as well.

** spoiler omitted **...

Long like Dorian

Ive actually been passed over because of that in the past

Well not selected for jade rgent maybe better luck here...boubtful though this character has never been selected

guess I can throw a hat in the ring here.
I applied to your Jade Regent game as well. hopefully I could get picked for one of them.

1. character is in the profile including back story

2. I usually post once a day sometimes more if there is a good flow.

3. familiar with the AP? I am currently in a Crimson throne game but joined at the end of book 1 having missed most of the beginning. started a Crimson throne game with this character but never made it past character intro's

4. contribution: Tracking, survival, and archery.

5. scenario:

The Shoreline Drinkhall is filled with patrons quietly drinking and eating. The mood in the room is heavy - there is no music, no laughing and the conversations, what few there are, are conducted in whispers.

The quiet scene is abruptly interrupted by the door bursting open by a bruised, bloodied halfling. "Help...please...help..." he wheezes before collapsing on the threshold. A moment later, a woman wearing dark leather armor and carrying an exotic-looking hooked club comes into view through the still-open door. She looks down at the halfling with a satisfied smile.

sitting alone across from the entrance a lone man sits drinking only water. he sits contemplating where he is to go next. every lead, every contact led him nowhere. his target is very elusive.

then the door bursts open the Halfling. then the woman. I've got no time for this

as she looks down on her fallen target smiling, that smile is suddenly broken as an arrow from across the tavern slams into the woman's shoulder. its barbed tip ripping through her armor into her flesh. soon the blood begins to seep through.

she knows that to pull it out would be dangerous this was a no simple hunters arrow, this was meant to kill.

she looks across toward the one who fired the shot and from the shadows a the thin lanky half-elf emerges from the shadows another arrow knocked and ready.

Run is all he says to her.

She looks at the half-elf. she knows that running would do no good. this man is a tracker; he has wounded his prey. but what choice does she have. The woman turns and runs.

The Half-Elf draws to fire once more but instead lowers his bow. not worth the effort, I can find her later

he then turns to the halfling to see if he is alive or dead.

M Half elf Ranger 1

I decided against that one.

my character was incomplete becuase of the "interview process" to get in.

DM wanted a concept but I was not in the format requested. and backstory was to long also had a complete character sheet and thatw as not asked for also failed to provide a writing sample. So I decided way too much to deal with at the moemnt.

M Half elf Ranger 1

I would say yes...

There is another opportunity to apply to a CotCT game.

M Half elf Ranger 1

Dorian avoids the food especially the wine except he does pluck a couple grapes but that is about it.

it a somewhat raspy voice I beile you already know who we all are by the notes we recieved. perhaps it best you introduce yourself and how you intend to aid all of us by provideing what you know of Gaedren Lamm

Dorian looks about the room I assume we are all after the head of the dame man
