Here is my submission: Half-elf Gunslinger (Bolt Ace) 5/Inquisitor 3 - primarily ranged combatant (light crossbow) with high perception - has disable device if no one else has it. Will spend rest of funds if selected.

Still around.

Devon shoots the last zombie:
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 5 = 8
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 11 - 5 = 12

Apologies for absence...

Devon takes a 5' step back and shoots at the zombie in front of him and the zombie nearest Sefanit.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 11 - 5 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 5 = 7

"Damn it, Professor, stay back. You're going to get yourself killed if you don't listen to me!" Devon rapidly loads quarrels and lets loose at the zombie in front of the Professor and the zombie in front of Sefanit! If he takes them down, he nods his cap at them.
Attack with Rapid Shot and Deadly Aim:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 5 = 14 after DR
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 10 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 10 - 5 = 8 after DR

"Nice shot, Lilia...stay alive!" Realizing he has 2 foes in melee range, Devon steps 5' to the east, and quickly reloads and pumps 2 quarrels into the closest zombie(s)!
Incur AoO on the first attack
Bolt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 5 = 9
Bolt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d10 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 5 = 14
Damage is after DR.

Well, that's certainly a unique way to liven up an otherwise dull night... Devon, heavy crossbow in hand, instinctively loads a quarrel and quickly fires at the lead zombie in the center door and then loads another one and impossibly reloads the crossbow and fires again at the lead zombie at the eastern door!

Using point blank shot and rapid shot and deadly aim:
Atttack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18...13 after DR
Free action to reload due to racial training and crossbow mastery
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18...13 after DR

He then steps back 5'. "Professor, stay behind me. I'll keep you safe! Lilia, get back here or you'll be overwhelmed. Damn, she's too slow. Everyone move to the southern doors!"

Devon sits alongside his charge, the Professor, to make sure no one pickpockets him and keeps an eye on the exits. He doesn't like being bottled up in one area. Devon has no gp to spend at this auction.

"Man, Professor, you really need to find some companionship and soon. You're too stressed out. You'll get what you paid for...trust me, I am a professional, no worries."

Devon chuckles to Lilia after the noble's comment, "Yes, you found yourself quite a charmer there, Lilia. Hope you two will be very happy together. I'm going to get more food." Devon leaves the pair alone to get more figs.

Professor Thorne wrote:

Chuckling he steps up to Devon, "Devon stay sharp, young man. I hear the Four Lanterns may not be the heroic explorers they claim to be, and we are probably in a den of thieves."

"Calm down, old man, I am watching you. My crossbow can cover you from 80' away, so I don't need to be glued to your side. Besides, the worst thing that will happen to you in this crowd is a paper cut from some worn out scroll. The Four Lanterns...oooh, so scary. Bah, I am sure they want what all adventurers want: gold, liquor, and easy women. No threats in this soiree." Devon looks very confident in his words. To a 20-year old, a 30-year-old is an old man. :)

"Great plan..." Devon smiles at the paladin. "Oh him...I know he's a Professor of some sorts. At least, that's what he calls himself, Professor Thorne. Funny, I don't know his first name. As long as I get my gold, it doesn't really matter to me, right?"

Lilia Stinisen wrote:
With nothing else happening until the auction began, Lilia toasted in return to the crossbow man. The Phasmaraan still seems busy, so she walked across the room and engaged the ‘toast-er’ as it were. ”This doesn’t seem like your normal hangout, either. I’m Lilia, here to represent the church of the Dawnflower. What brings you to such an auction? You a lover of history?”

Devon smiles, "I'm Devon, a true pleasure, Lilia, thank you for saving me from the monotony of this night...a lover of history? Hardly! I live in the present and for the future. See that tall lanky fella over there with the goatee?" Devon point to Professor Thorne. "Yeah, I'm being paid to watch his back tonight. Not a great living but it puts food on the table. By the way, have you tasted the cheese-stuffed figs? Delicious!" Devon stuffs one in his mouth, as he offers the paladin another. "And you, dear? You purchasing some relics tonight on behalf of the church?"

Devon smiles at the priest of Pharasma as he excuses himself. Not wanting to crowd the Professor, he lets him go mingle, while he goes looking for some food. He keeps an eye on his charge, while he gorges himself on some dates and figs. He nods at the dark-haired beauty in the blue and gold robes, leaning against the wall and toasts her with his drink from a distance.

The Half City was the perfect moniker for Wati - a city that was half alive and half dead where most residents, including himself, profited from the tomb industry. Quite macabre if you actually think about it. As Devon looked around the gathering room at the Canny Jackal, right now he would prefer the confines of a dusty trap-ridden tomb to having to spend a night in the company of Wati’s rich and elite. How boring! But he was on a job protecting some half-drow bookworm so Devon looked around for any threats, his hands firmly cradling his darkwood heavy crossbow. His eyes scanned the crowd as his charge babbled with some noble about the veracity of some scroll. Yes, it was going to be a long night indeed.

Devon is also staying in the Asp District and is fine with portioning a share for healing. I’ll be watching the Professor’s back at the auction house.

Thank you for the selection, Luc and happy to be gaming with all of you. As I posted in my history, my connection would be if any of you needed a bodyguard attending the auction and if you could afford my rates. ;) Perhaps the Professor...otherwise, Devon will be there watching some NPC's back.

Thanks Sefanit, I copied your Race/Class levels info to paste into profile and changed numbers.

My role is to provide the party with ranged support, trap disabling, and survival skills as needed. Any guidance or comments would be appreciated if you wish some other role. Without a cleric, healing will be at a premium. I've got some CLW potions.
