When we first started phase 2 and all the female characters posted first (I know Shin's was ooc and Thorgrund posted in character before she did, but still), I thought it would be funny to have an all female party and an all male party, maybe in competition. But I guess now that Tamis and Ashtari are bowing out, that wouldn't really be feasible . . . Oh well. Let's get this party started! Delara is going to be so relieved if it's just a bunch of goblins :)
Just looked up the price of ale. 4 coppers a mug. I just paid for a lot of ale. Whoops . . . Delara coughs politely and touches Shin's arm. "Sorry, it's Scratch, not Snatch." She glances up (and up, and up) at Samwise, just briefly making eye contact, before turning and offering Daisy a tentative smile. "It's nice to see someone here that I don't need to crane my neck to look up at. I heard you announce yourself a minute ago. It was . . . Dizzy, right?"
Delara glances over at the other burly Catfolk, looking him up and down. "Not acquainted with, no. I'm not very outgoing lately, if you hadn't noticed. But today seems the day to make the new friends. I'd better order another mug of liquid courage, though." She waves a gold piece at Brathan, gesturing to her mug to indicate she wanted it kept coming until the gold ran out. "Alright. Let's go meet Mr. Samwise."
Delara begins her response to Shin automatically, as if responding by rote. "I am Delara, daughter of-" She cuts off abruptly, glancing around to see if anyone else was listening. "Daughter of, um, nobody important." She takes a long drink of her ale, then adds. "And, actually, nobody calls me Delara. They call me, I mean my friends call me, uh, Scratch. So please, call me Scratch." She lifts her mug for another pull of ale, only to realize that she's already drained it. "Drat. Anyway, enough about me. Your name is . . ." She casts about in her mind for the name that she's heard the barkeep shout when anyone ordered food. "It's Shin, right?"
Delara opens her mouth to protest the invasion of her table, then closes it and looks down at the plate of biscuits. "Um . . . Thank you. I'd love one." She picks up a biscuit and begins to nibble on it, watching the elf out of the corner of her eye. "I've been meaning to send my compliments to the chef since I had the stew last night. It was very good. So . . . erm . . . my compliments to you, I suppose. " Unsure what else to say, she looks back to the common room and takes a hurried bite of her biscuit.
In spite of herself, Delara sets down her mug and leans forward. "Alright then, tell us the grand plan. How do you intend for this band of yours to regrow a forest over ten years dead and still dripping with goblins? And whose idea was it to give the goblins back their greatest advantage after a war that we very nearly lost?" Suddenly self-conscious, she huddles back in her chair slightly and glances around the room before continuing more quietly. "I don't mind joining a hopeless cause, but I'd at least like to know that it won't end up costing more blood from the sons of Isger."
Ha! That literally made me laugh out loud. O Pan Dragon Style. Excellent. Regarding her gear: Did you read her backstory? She hasn't really thought that far ahead yet. In fact, her next "plan" after failing to drink herself to death was to turn herself in, which is also essentially suicide. She'll get around to buying stuff, but she's never really been out on her own like this before. If you asked her why she didn't have rope she'd likely respond, "Rope? I'm supposed to have rope? What would I do with it?" Also, I'll stop switching between Delara and WK. From here on out, it's Delara all the way.
@PhilofCalth You would be absolutely right if those were unarmed strikes, but natural attacks work differently. Claws are a primary attack, which means I can full attack with both of them at no penalty and with my full Strength bonus on both, but I'll never have iterative attacks with them. They also don't work with the benefits to unarmed strikes that most Style feats offer unless I pick up the Feral Combat Training Feat, but that doesn't bother me. I picked up Dragon Style for the ability to charge/run/withdraw over difficult terrain, not the +1/2 Str bonus to one unarmed strike per round. But I did format incorrectly, the first entry should read "2 claws +4 etc."
Delara Shadowpaw, delinquent and runaway. Concept:
After a series of failed relationships and familial disappointments, Delara ran away from home looking to make her mark on the world. This just might be her chance. Build: A catfolk rogue or ninja built towards pouncing with her claws. Included in her stat block is the Drawback + Bonus trait option from Ultimate Campaign (Doubt and Lesser Noble), but those would be easy to take out if you don't want me to use them. I'd rather build her as a ninja with the Scout archetype after this first level, but that's dependent on whether or not you feel that ninjas should be allowed to take rogue archetypes. If you don't feel like it's kosher, then she'll just run with rogue. |
