I'm thinking about a Druid who awakened his former animal companion, who now serves as his cohort (pretty similar situations fluff-wise, only the crunch is different). Come to think of it, that could be extended to followers as well, he can be followed around by a horde of intelligent (but otherwise unremarkable) wolves, which grows as he levels and awakens more of their kind! It'd be like an episode of Oprah: "You get a brain! You get a brain! You get a brain! Everyone gets a brain!" :D does my wolf get a brain?

I looked at it as representing that, while he has been trained and even learned a good deal he has had little to no actual education. I've a always seen Int as book smart/how quickly you memorize/Learn things. He isn't going to sit down and think through logical problems no but he can still make decisions based on his own experience and understanding. So he wouldn't be coming up with any in depth intricate plans, he wouldn't enjoy sitting down and trying to read through books or the like. I could swap with charisma, but I figured him being fairly friendly would warrant at least a 10. That said if you feel it would be a problem I can change it. -

and if I wanted to make my cohort a barbarian, would he have to use the unchained version?
Hmm. Do I take leadership now, and reduce overall combat effectiveness, or at level 9... I suppose I will take it now. Though it makes me not as good as a fighter atm haha. That said, you sure you want rangers with an AC to get a cohort too? And, would you like us to make in character introductions to Rupert and the Mayor?
Here is my submission, still fine tuning the fluff on him but in a condensed version... A quiet but normally cheery guy with a sad past. He has a soft spot for protecting families, be they rich or poor blood or bond. He has a slight dark side to him in that he enjoys killing beasts (beasts to him include orcs, goblins, giants and all of that sort alongside beasts of the forest) and he has a rather strange love for the thrill of battle and the hunt. His animal companion means more to him than his life, and Dart would likely sacrifice his to save his companions. While he doesn't seek companionship he almost craves it, perhaps something to fill the void left by his late friend. I'd love to hear some feedback on if he meshes with your campaign and your thoughts on him. Crunch is incoming. I can totally work the cohort feat as him having taken on his own protgee from an orphan from a goblin raid or the like during his travels. I kinda like that. As an additional question, are you saying we get the story feat + leadership feat for free? Or have/need to take it? |
