Entering Larry is loud, "Wyssal. We've been summoned. Something happened. Gotta go and fast."

Is it wrong, for romantic comedic effect, that Larry barges into Wyssal's room in a state of partial dress?!!

"Well, Sandpoint did just have a goblin raid", Darius explains.

"I shall come with you, Tomo", Darius answers.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
The paladin looks at the odd jar over Dagny's shoulder. "Weird!"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The corners of Darius's mouth crease slightly, as the paladin fights to show a smile.

"Lawerence would be the best person to carry Miss Wyssal back to town", Darius states.

"You are most welcome, Tomo", the paladin said with a sincere grin.

"As a diehard follower of Cayden Cailean, I would imagine you would do well as a cleric", Darius offers.

"Great work, Dagny", Darius smiled at the cleric. The paladin quietly got up to give the caydenite room if he wants it.

Darius quickly kneels down next to the fallen halfling, looking up to Dagny. "I have a wand of cure light wounds!" The paladin scrambles through his pack to find it.

Sometimes The Dice Gods get Angry! I once lost an orc rogue/cleric due to combat on these forums.

Round 1

Darius steps forward to the closest goblin raider.

Rapier: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Dmg.: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The paladin stops abruptly, holding his hand up to his ear, then closing his fist.
"Stop! Do you hear that? No birds chirping. No buzzing insects. Draw your weapons."

Darius concentrates as he seeks to detect evil, checking the major directions (N, S, E ,W).

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
The paladin watches the horizon, while those trained in wilderness craft forage for reagents.

I feel that the myth that PbPs are slow paced is incorrect. It depends on the engagement of the players and DM that the pace is set.

"Whatever de-boned this boar got stuck at one time in the skull. Perhaps Big-Axe Goblin passed by and left this."

Looking at the retreating Sterin with disgust, Darius said, "Let's be off. Simple, provincial halfwits have taken too much of our time already."

"Thank you for the warning", Darius nods. "If we find him, we will end him."

"Several deaths, Mr. Sterin.", Darius states. "Families unable to cope with such losses. Everybody's hurting. And everyone praying The Unpleasantness doesn't return."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

"Damn", Darius lamented. "It looks like the attack was far larger than we expected." The shelynite looks out mournfully over the fields.

Darius smiles to himself, asking a silent prayer to The Eternal Rose for Lawrence.

"Perhaps we can dance, or spar some time. Not now, obviously. After the regent-gathering." Darius smiled.

The aasimar pinches the bridge of his nose in embarrassment over Larry's antics.
"Good morning, ladies", Darius said.

Darius smirks, trying not to smile too wide. "I'm sure there is somewhere."

Darius blinks at Lawerence. "Goodness. I never realized elves could be so ..verbose."

"Makes sense", Darius agrees. "Among Shelynites, the focus on polearm proficiency is preferred. But I lack the right combination of Strength and Dexterity to be as effective as I should. So I use the lesser rapier as my perferred weapon."

"I have taken instruction from a few Shelynite clerics, but I haven't had much exposure thanks to Sandpoint's rural dance styles," Darius explains. "So I'm not in good practice."

The paladin grew anxious, so Darius drew his rapier and began to have mock battles with himself as he past the time.

Darius holds up his hand to the caydenite. "I am sure I will be fine. If the act of harvesting herbs does help, I am certain the walk will."
The paladin turns to the elf. "Which reminds me: Tomodai. I am not well versed in forest lore. Which plants will be looking for exactly?"

"My body is used to getting up early for prayer", Darius shared, holding his forehead for a moment. "Despite how hungover I might be."
The paladin made a small smile.

If none of the ladies need escort home, Darius leaves the establishment to make the walk up Deverin Hill.

Slightly tipsy, Darius steadies himself as he stands. "Do any of you ladies need a escort home?"

"Those goblins won't be coming around again anytime soon. But I'll have my sword ready if we see anything dangerous."

"As will my blade", Darius adds, nodding at the caydenite. "I think I will take another mug of ale before bed."

"For the betterment of Sandpoint, I shall help you", Darius stated.

Darius sits up straight. "Yes, ma'am." The paladin answers under his breath.

Darius smiled a rosy-cheeked drunken smile. "Ah, Larry! But as devotees, should we not follow their example? Think how many relationships The Accidental God can maintain? Isn't Cayden Cailean known for keeping company with Calistra?"

The aasimar acquires a hungry look when glancing at the cleric and halfling at the table.

Darius leans back in his chair, deep in thought. "I do believe several shelynite text indicate The Eternal Rose, The Everlight, AND Desna are in a romantic relationship together."

"Hmm. So there is THAT precedent.."

This loose talk of ployamorous relations cuts some of tension at the table between the Caydenite and the Shelynite.
Darius looks up at Lawerence and smirks. "Dagny may have a point there."

" Though I hope not all my journeys face the loss I saw in his face."

"Cheers to that." Darius raised his tankard in a toast.

Darius wasn't going to punch a jerk who just lost his son. Consequences or not.

"Dagny, let's sit down and enjoy our meal", the aasimar suggested to the cleric. "Ameiko, may I have some more ale please?"

“Is there a problem here?” Ameiko asks, finally arriving after getting word that Ven isn’t in a good mood.

Darius smooths out his clothing. "No problem here, Ameiko." The aasimar backs away rather than turning his back on the clearly agitated father.

"We are sorry for your loss", Darius said softly, having an idea what pain the poor man must be under. "I'm glad your wife and daughters are safe. Shelyn's peace be with you, Ven."

The aasimar pats the grieving man's shoulder and goes to return to his table, all frivolity gone.

"Lawrence." The aasimar calmly said to his friend. The shelynite got up from his place at the table, and found a place next to Vin at the bar.
"Ven. Any other news about your family?" The paladin lent a sympathetic ear to the grieving man.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Nice.

Darius smiles wide as the laden plate is set before him. "Thank you, Ameiko!"

Darius frowned, folding his arms. "It is possible to be 'too nice', Dagny. I hope you don't let others walk over you."

"Ale would be fine. Thank you, miss." The paladin changes his disposition to that of courtesy. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
