I am going to help my wife make a barbarian character for our first second edition campaign. I found out that you get the rage resistance at level 9. But I don't see any mention of when you get the Specialization, I thought maybe it would be a class feat, but I didn't spot it among the feats. So how do you unlock these abilities? I'm sure I must have missed something obvious.

I have been an Adventure Path Subscriber for a while now, and have been receiving the books just fine. However I seem to be missing the PDFs for Mummy's Mask #3 even though I have gotten the physical book.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Was reading the post about traits for movement speed and it made me think, how could I make a character with the highest land speed (the earlier the better).

Travel domain gives +10.
Barbarian gives +10.
Fleet gives +5 and can be taken several times.
Monk gives scaling one by level.
Elves get a racial FCB of +1 per level of Barb or Monk (would you say they'd stack? So barb 1 / monk 4 gets +5?)
Flame spirit Sharman gets +10 for 2 levels as it's a hex.

Always on bonuses over temp (spells okay but they only last a limited time).

What order would be best to pick things up to ensure the highest move speed at each level? Any way to either VMC or such to get multiple of these and and limit dips somewhat?

For combat ability I was thinking this could work as an archer using hit and bolt tactics, especially 'shoot on the run' to be able to keep opponents at bay. Though combat ability comes ad a secondary to speed.

Ideal level range would be 5-7, but would love to see how it could get even better at higher levels.

Edit:
Also found Impossible Speed for Mythicals gives +30, but likely won't be used.

Does anyone have a stat block for a level 20 lich?

Highest I've manage to find is this one who's a level 17, it's close... I could advance it a few more levels... but I also don't like that it's got aristocrat levels as well.

So if anyone does have one laying around, I'd love to see it, thanks.

If you are here Thomir or Kavas players then please stop reading now.

Plot so far:
The PCs have been working a bit for the city officials, one of their NPC friends is a teifling who is an orphan who still (secretly) supports the orphanage she grew up in.

They recently returned to the city after another quest and their NPC friend was spotted arguing with a man outside the orphanage.

They also came across another man, a strange buttler type who made them suspicious.

The man at the orphanage is actually a Oni who's there with a night hag trying to locate one of her items. They are slowly slaying children at the orphanage and in the city in their search.

The buttler is an old thug who has taken it upon himself to try to solve the disappearance of his employers children (taken by the Oni).

In his search he comes across several people who have hurt / exploited children in some ways, and kills them.

Now the PCs will be hired by the city officials to investigate these murders.

Victims are;
1. A drunkard who has been beating his children. (Butler killed him in his home)
2. A rich merchant who has a taste for young partners. (Butler killed him brutally in his home)
3. A brothel matron who has been recruiting girls from the orphanage. (Butler lured her out and killed her somewhere quiet)
4. A teenager killed by his lover in a rage. (This one is a red herring, and to add a bit of realism in that not all murders are connected)

Now what I need help with is coming up with some clues that will point the PCs to both the Oni, orphanage, the butler and his motives. If your clue requires some other murder victim as well that would be fine too. However the PCs should ideally think it's the butler first, then start to understand and maybe sympathise with them before starting to see some underlying wrongness what's going on and start to look towards the orphanage and the Oni in disguise.

A shapeshifting focused, based of a mix of Ranger and Druid.

I present the: Untamed.

Any feedback on it?

Antipathy

One of my players was looking at this spell, and was talking about using it. He says that he could set it to Evil and any evil aligned creatures would be affected.

Though to me it seems that you would have to be more specific since the spell says specific I would think that means one of the nine alignments.

What is the right interpretation? How specific is specific?

So I'm looking to make an npc for my campaign that will seem like / be a bumbling idiot or a drunken fool but will be quite lethal.

So I am looking for traits, feats and class abilities that could enable this. We're using lots of house rules for progression so I can mix and match class abilities if wanted.

Some key things;
* He should not use a conventional weapon. Weapons that could be flavoured as other things work (quarterstaff, club, battle scarf and similar would all be great).
* He can't rely on spells. (this is a low magic setting, monk abilities or rage powers might work, but pure martial would be preferable).
* Custom feats can be done. (con / dex to damage, con to ac / dr ect could all be doable, or repurposes of other feats or class abilities like).
* He should have a high crit range if possible.
* He can't be wearing more than some rather basic armor. (Armored kilt, leather armor and such are fine).

Would love to see suggestions for things that would work well with this concept, feel free to propose custom feats and such as well just keep in mind that it should be comparable to other feats.

My pcs have killed all the constructs and the elemental outside his door. One of them dueled with Cerssee and lost so she is with him as well.

The party is planning on resting before they enter the final door. So what would Yrax do? He knows they're in his castle and that they are there to try and kill him. He wouldn't just sit there and wait would he?

Hello,

I am in a game where I am playing a dwarven Zen Archer. We recently lost a player so we were thinking about playing extra characters, but I also suggested to the GM that maybe making our existing characters gestalts could be a way to go.

So I have a high str, dex and amazing wis, her con is okay while her int and cha are awful.

I thought about wis based caster and the cleric or a druid would work but I have a dwarven druid in another game. She is LN so I don't feel like the Empyrian Sorc would fit for her.

I have been thinking about the Hunter as she would get a good animal companion as well as some wis based spells among them the awesome Gravity Bow.

Now would there be any other good mixes that I have overlooked? Warpriest, Inquisitor? I feel like the Ranger overlaps a bit much but am I wrong?

So, my druid has an Animal Companion who's a large wolf with Improved Natural Attack, and Vital Strike... are there any official rules on how the different spells & feats stack? I know that two size spells won't stack, but where's the line with these things, what stacks and what doesn't:

Quote:

STR = 24

INA = Improved Natural Attack (As if the creature's size had increased by one category.)
VS = Vital Strike (Roll the weapon’s damage dice for the attack twice and add the results together before adding bonuses from Strength.)
AG = Animal Growth (This alteration changes the animal's size category to the next largest.)
SJ = Strong Jaw (As if the creature were two sizes larger than it actually is.)

Large Wolf: 1d8+7
Large Wolf + INA: 2d6+7 (As if Huge)
Large Wolf + INA + VS: 4d6+7 (As if Huge, Double Dice)

Large Wolf + AG = 2d6+11 (Huge +8 STR)
Large Wolf + AG + INA = 2d8+11 (Huge + As if Garg. +8 STR)
Large Wolf + AG + INA + VS = 4d8+11 (Huge + As if Garg. +8 STR, Double Dice)

Large Wolf + SJ = 2d8+7 (Large Wolf as if Garg.)
Large Wolf + SJ + AG = 4d6+11 (Huge Wolf as if Col. +8 STR)
Large Wolf + SJ + AG + VS = 8d6+11 (Huge Wolf as if Col. +8 STR, Double Dice)
Large Wolf + SJ + AG + INA + VS = 16d6+11 (Huge Wolf as if Col. +1, +8 STR, Double Dice)

I'd assume that at least AG + SJ + VS would stack since they work in different ways, but does SJ and INA work together they both work AS IF size was larger... or would you only get the better of the two?

So, my druid is going to be level 12 soon(TM) and she'll get access to the last real upgrade to her wild shape ability.

My question though is, does she get the DR from elemental body IV even if she's not a huge elemental. From the way I read the rules it seams she does:

Wild Shape (Su) wrote:
At 12th level, a druid can use wild shape to change into a Huge elemental or a Huge plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental, the druid's wild shape now functions as elemental body IV. When taking the form of a plant, the druid's wild shape now functions as plant shape III.
Elemental Body IV wrote:

This spell functions as elemental body III, except that it also allows you to assume the form of a Huge air elemental, Huge earth elemental, Huge fire elemental, or Huge water elemental. The abilities you gain depend upon the type of elemental into which you change. You are also immune to bleed damage, critical hits, and sneak attacks while in elemental form and gain DR 5/—.

Air elemental: As elemental body I except that you gain a +4 size bonus to your Strength, +6 size bonus to your Dexterity, and a +4 natural armor bonus. You also gain fly 120 feet (perfect).
Earth elemental: As elemental body I except that you gain a +8 size bonus to your Strength, a -2 penalty on your Dexterity, a +4 size bonus to your Constitution, and a +6 natural armor bonus.
Fire elemental: As elemental body I except that you gain a +6 size bonus to your Dexterity, a +4 size bonus to your Constitution, and a +4 natural armor bonus.
Water elemental: As elemental body I except that you gain a +4 size bonus to your Strength, a -2 penalty on your Dexterity, a +8 size bonus to your Constitution, and a +6 natural armor bonus. You also gain swim 120 feet.

From how I read it I also assume that you DON'T get the 120 feet fly or swim speed UNLESS you're huge. Since those are spesifically mentioned under the seperate elementals.

My players have brought her back, she was reincarnated as a Halfling. So now I'm left wondering, what class should she be? I thought at first that Witch sounded natural, but it seams weird for me for her to have a familiar... she did have some magical abilities while she was alive so I'm leaning towards maybe a Magus or something? And maybe around level 9?

Hello everyone, I've tried to find a riddle that the answer to could be 'Crest' but I've not been able to find one. It should be somewhat short and if it mentions protection that would be great.

Does anyone have one I could use?

An alternative riddle could be for 'Shield'.

My PC's are going to come upon a one soon and I've been thinking about making the encounter with this young dragon special, so I was thinking about making a special clip for his 'reactions' to the players.

But seeing as it's a young dragon, how deep would his voice really be? I made this little sample of what I had in mind, but I'm worried I'm making his voice too deep, what do you guys think? If it's too deep I might save that for a dragon later on. ;)

From discworld there was the monks of time, and the old man 'the sweeper' always walking around with his broom and sweeping the grounds, but everyone respected him and they all knew the rule "Never act incautiously when facing a small wrinkly bald smiling old man!"

I would love to recreate this but unsure about the best build, it needs to be a mostly martial class and should not be wearing armour. What sounds most natural is a monk, he should be hard to hit and damage isn't a major draw. But he should be able to shame you in some way.

He should be old, but any way to avoid the physical stat penalties is good. Also preferably a human. Highish level as well 15+, 20 point buy (should not have horrible wis).

Any thoughts?
