![]() Perhaps the problem at the game store was one of marketing? Did you advertise your game as "D&D"? You mentioned you had a sign-up sheet. Currently, D&D is 4th edition. If you construed that the game would be D&D and 4th Edition being the current incarnation of the system, it's only logical that people would assume that it would be a 4th edition game. It sounds like you are running a Pathfinder Society weekly game. So I really would find it confusing how any participants would be confused on the matter. I've played 4th edition since launch. I've been wowed by the previews, disillusioned by the game play, and have actually started a weekly PF RotRL campaign. But I still find myself in my PF games wishing the PC's had healing surges. And I long for the flexibility of character generation when I play in my friends weekly 4e game. Both games have their strengths and both of them are the natural successors to Dungeons & Dragons. If you've got rude people in your game store, I'm sorry for that. I wish anyone I know would be able to give Savage Worlds a change. But if task resolution isn't determined by a d20, they want no part in it. But after you vented about the rudeness these players showed to you with "Real D&D", you turned around and called everyone who plays and enjoys (yes I still enjoy 4e, I'm just disillusioned with combat) 4e as being wrong for not playing the "Real D&D". - Josh ![]()
![]() Sorry about taking so long to post back... I live in Hurricane, which I believe is a bit of a ways from Cedar City to Hurricane (40.7 mi – about 48 mins according to Google Map). Anyway, I wasn't actually looking for a new member, but I'll mention it with the group. (We game on Thurs. nights.) What happened to your old group? - Josh ![]()
![]() Nothing to add theologically, it appears others have awnsered well. Just wanted to say that I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Born and raised in California for most of my life, spent high school in rural Utah, and as of this year have again settled down in the Washington County area after a three year stint in Nevada. There is two Mormons in my group, my wife and my friend Dave. The other two are a Christian and an Atheist. We play the 4th Edition of the worlds most popular roleplaying game, but I own the Pathfinder pdf. ![]()
![]() Currently, the only errata is a FAQ found in the help section here. On Tues. they will have web enhancements and info about playing in FR and Eberron, corrected char sheets, and possibly more char sheets for larger playing groups. Or so the rumor goes on EN World. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to see. ![]()

Not necessarily, the WotC boards have been buzzing back and fourth for a long time about the half-orc statements. It just shows that he's up with the zeitgeist. ![]()
![]() I stumbled onto the Rise of the Runelords and absolutely love it. I'll be of those attempting a conversion to 4e. I actually have been looking at the True20 conversions to get a feel of how to translate the 'flavor' of RotRLs from one set to another. I think the minion rules will allow some definite mob fun in Burnt Offers. ![]()
![]() Of course, you could always allow it as a one shot for a higher group of characters. (Meaning Steel Shadows.) I've found that after several months of campaigning with a group, there comes that "well, we're having fun, but we just got these great ideas" syndrome. That's when I get a mid to high level adventure with nothing in commen with the current story, have everyone roll up something new for the night and say "Meanwhile, in the dark crevices of the lowest levels of Sharn, evil has found a new face and a taste for blood..." Works for us. Maybe it will work for ya'll. ![]()
![]() I just want to say thank you to Eric and Jacob and everyone else for being so willing to share insight, provide answers, and generally chill with all the posters on this board. That is what I love about the people who publish Dungeons and Dragons, where it be the core and splat books, campaign settings, or these fine magazines. They really love their job and actually want to be your friend. Hopefully, I'll have an adventure idea soon that will be good enough to send into the Dungeon and become one of the authors in this hollowed mag but until then I'm saving my pennies to get a subscription. (My wife loves me, but with three boys under three... you know.) |
