Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Sorry folks. I've been going through a few things in real life and frankly my focus, just isn't there at the moment.

I need to either put this on an indefinite hiatus or pull the plug on this one.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Anyone else?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Cayde certainly suspects he had been noticed. Not particularly surprising that the goblins would be on high alert with the party's previous activities.

Tekumbray fires off an arrow, dropping one of the armored goblins in its tracks.

Any attacks/readied attacks from the rest of you before the goblins go?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Sorry for the delays (again). Busy as all get out at the moment...

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Cayde rushes passed the southern passageway, down the tunnel towards what appears to the backside of moldy tapestry to the west.

DM Rolls:

G1 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
G2 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
G3 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
G4 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
G5 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
G6 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
G7 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
G8 Perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Tekumbray creeps up to look into the southern chamber, as sees eight armored goblin warriors, a couple of which seem to have noticed Cayde rush passed as they start rousing their companions to go investigate the source of what they heard.

Tekumbray, you do not believe you have been seen, nor do you think they have heard Adonius or Baheera.

As the goblins are getting ready, the party has the initiative in this situation and may take Round 1 actions before I do anything for goblins.

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Back among the living, so to speak. Update coming this evening.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Sorry folks, sick again. I'll post when I can actually concentrate on anything.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

As you move along to the left, the passaway continues on. Beyond that, you hear what sounds like angry goblins coming from a passageway that branches off to the south.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Okay that answers the following along question, now it's just a matter of where.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray sneaks down the passageway he saw the goblins flee down, following the long and twisting cavern that dumps into another passageway heading left or right.

Where to, and is anyone following along?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray lands and listens, hearing the echoey sounds of goblin voices from numerous passageways.

There are 4 passageways off of this ground level (marked with red numbers on the map). You saw the goblins fleeing down the passageway numbered 2 earlier. What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekubray's shot pierces the goblin mother's leg, causing her to suddenly fall, banging her head against the rock wall of the cave, leaving eight goblin children in various states of wondering what just happened to their mother.

Where to now?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Creeping up on the opening at the end of 15 foot cliff, you look to see a goblin mother and eight children in a warren cave.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

If you look at the map on Roll20, you will see a number of differing elevations in the central chamber. The tunnel you came out of into that chamber is 15 ft above the bottom. There are other tunnels off of that chamber, three at ground level, two off of a ledge 20ft above bottom, and one more along the ledge you are currently on (the one that Cayde is heading toward).

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Make an Athletics or Acrobatics check, DC 15 to avoid 1d6 ⇒ 6 damage.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The pole only drops 15 feet to the floor below. There are a number of tunnels off of that central chamber.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Choosing to let the remaining goblins scurry away, you return back the first crossroads you came to on this level.

Heading east for a relatively short distance, you find yourselves coming back out into open on a ledge overlooking the lake. The ledge comes to and end a short distance later.

Where to?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Retcon Crit Adonius savages the goblin, tossing the lifeless body from one side of the tunnel to the other.

Cayde comes around the corner to find the remaining goblins fleeing and heading for a pole and sliding the cavern floor below.

DC 10 Athletics/Acrobatics check to leap to the pole and slide down. Sliding down the pole will use 10 ft of movement.

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Cayde's hammer crashes down on the head of the injured goblin, dropping the unfortunate creature dead.

Adonius savages another, nearly killing the goblin but it lays on the ground bloody while its companions flee back down the tunnel.

Tekumbray briefly listens down the tunnel behind him, but can't pick out anything untoward over the thunderous booming of Baheera's blast.

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray's shot sinks into the shoulder of the lead goblin but fails to end the life of the green-skinned menace.

"Terugval! Hinderlaag!" the lead goblin calls out as they begin to turn back from whence they came.

For those who speak Goblin:
"Fall back! Ambush!

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The party freezes, listening for what would seem to be the inevitable approach of more enemies. It isn't long before you hear the approach of more goblins, these sounding as if they are armored and properly armed.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Baheera's thundering blast ends the life of the remaining goblin.

Between the thunderous wave and the thundering blast, there is little doubt anything on this level of the cavern system knows you are here.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The large wolf that is Adonius strides in and savages one of remaining goblins, only one - now very fearful for its life - goblin remains.

Baheera is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray pops around the corner and fires another arrow into a unfornate goblin, ending its life.

Cayde moves into the chamber and crushes another's skull with a mighty swing of his enchanted hammer.

Adonius and Baheera are up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Old school map. Each square is 10 feet, thus the way I've sized your tokens on the map.

DM Rolls:

Con Save: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Con Save: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Con Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Con Save: 1d20 ⇒ 6

A thunderous boom emanates from Baheera, throwing the now lifeless bodies of four goblins to the far wall. Surely anything else on this level of the cave system now knows you are here.

The unarmored remaining goblins scramble to their feet, grab and hurl fishing spears at the frontline, with one spear sinking into the Geniekin's leg.

As shown on the map that would be Baheera and Cayde on the frontline. Two spears heading at each of you.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

DM Rolls II:

Spear @ B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Spear @ B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Spear @ C: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Spear @ C: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tek fires off his arrow, instantly killing one of the unfortunate goblins, before attempting to duck away and hide. Unfortunately for the gnome, he did not notice the sizable rock on the floor in his path and tripped, drawing attention to himself, although he is able to get to his feet before the goblins can do much about it.

Cayde, Adonius, and Baheera can act before I do anything with the goblins.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Again, sorry for the silence. Motivation and time to post have been in short supply.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The party moves in closer to the chamber containing the bickering goblins. Goblins, to this point, do not seem to have noticed the intruders into their home.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray slowly and quietly makes his way down the tunnel, first encountering a chamber off to his right. Looking in he sees a small tidy chamber stacked high with casks. Hanging from the ceiling are several bizarre looking salted fish, some nearly four-feet long.

Continuing down the corridor another chamber opens up to the gnome's left, this one perhaps thirty feet in diameter. Several worn nets adorned with fishing hooks hang from the ceiling to dry. The room smells of rotting fish and perhaps more importantly contains nine goblins, seemingly oblivious to anything but their own bickering conversation.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Sorry for the delay folks, between being a bit busy and frankly a bit unmotivated, I haven't gotten around to posting yet. My intent is to get to it tonight.

Side note: Baheera, you still with us?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Feeling particularly drained today. Will update tomorrow.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The party slides down the pole to next level below. You land in another tunnel with sounds more goblins coming from a passageway leading north.

Following the sounds? Any preparations? New map is up on Roll20. The party is in the lower right hand corner of the map.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The hole in question is goblin sized, Cayde will have to squeeze, but can make it. Adonius, in his large wolf form, won't be able to go down the hole that you have discovered.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

You head down the tunnel to the east, that eventually opens up onto a narrow ledge on the cliffside.

Going down a level or trying to hold up someplace first?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Slowly searching the remainder of the level, you first stop at the portculis. The odor of rot wafts up from the forty-foot diameter natural shaft beyond the iron bars. From your current position you do not see the bottom of the chasm.

Continuing on, you take the southeast passage, leading passed another guard room, filled with hammocks and crates of battered weapons not worth picking up. A passageway leads east into another chamber with a fifty-foot high ceiling throughout the room are poles that run from the floor to the ceiling. Your best guess is this is a training area based on the poles that you have seen in other areas of the cavern.

Finally, you head backout to the southern tunnel that occasional opens up exposed the "outside", overlooking the lake. Traveling west you find a pole heading upward, toward the top of the cliffs before the tunnel ends.

Where to next?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

As a side note, the shaft leads upward, so not depths as much as heights ;)

Searching the storeroom, beyond the various food stuffs you find tucked behind a stack of crates a number of bolts of what appears to be a silk in a variety of colors. This would certainly fetch a fine price should you ever find yourself on the surface again.

All that is found in the second chamber is the previously mentioned mysterious shaft.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

The party makes their way down the northwest passage, noticing another room behind a door on their right.

After pushing open the stone door, you observe a roughly circular chamber about 25-feet in diameter. Several piles of crates are haphazardly stored here. Hanging from the ceiling on several ropes are dried haunches of meat and several large salted fish.

If you wish to do a more thorough search of the room, give me perception checks. Feel free to ask other questions.

Continuing down the passageway, you enter into what is more of a widened corridor rather than a chamber that terminates in a shaft leading upward. The ceiling disappears into the shadows above. The northwest surface was once a majestic flowstone but now is worn, pitted, and crumbling.

Same as above.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

You have to back track a bit, but finding enough spare wood/tables to cover most of the hole isn't a real issue, but the pole is still exposed.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Following along Tek's suggested path you find that the long east-west passage simply leads along the outer edge of the cliffside, occasionally opening up to what passes for sky here.

There is one notable feature a hole with at pole running down the center that seems to go into a lower level of caverns.

What would you like to do?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

A quick search of the bodies provides Tek with as many arrows as he would like. While Cayde drags bodies back into one of the dead-end chambers while the Adonius-wolf keeps watch.

It seems rather silent and calm for the moment...perhaps too much so.

Where to?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tekumbray's shot skewers the remaining goblin, the creature's body falling to the ground below.

End of combat. Out of rounds. Where to?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

That is a correct assumption in terms of the Adonius-wolf being able to cross the rope bridge.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

DM Rolls:

Reflex Save; DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Baheera's blast misses the target as Adonius and Cayde charge after the frightened goblin. Tekumbray reaches the zipline and with a quick slash of a dagger cuts the rope.

The goblin on the line's eyes widen as he realizes what has happened and he futilely grabs for the rope, but to no avail as he falls some seventy feet to the cavern floor, landing with at wet sounding crack.

The remaining goblin frantically begins making his way across the uneasy rope bridge.

Party is up. The rope bridge itself is difficult terrain.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Cayde crushes one of fleeing goblins while Tek's shot takes down another. Fearing for their lives, the remaining pair of goblins split up, one hoping on the zipline that goes toward another ledge 20 feet below, while the other rushes toward the rope bridge.

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Unable to get a clear shot at one of the fleeing goblins, Baheera follows along with the others.

The goblins, fearing for their lives continue to flee from the fight.

Cayde can take AoO. Then the party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Baheera?

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Cayde provides chase, but is unable to catch up to the speedy goblins as Baheer's latest blast goes wide of her target.

Party is up. Closest goblin to a party member (Cayde and Tek) is 60 feet away. Adonius and Baheera are 90 ft away.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Tek's shot goes wide, while the Adonius-wolf stands his ground, waiting for the goblins to choose fight over flight.

Cayde and Baheera are up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Botting Baheera again...

Eldritch Blast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13

Baheera blasts another of the oncoming goblins, while Tekumbray's shot cuts down another.

Cayde's hammer crashes down on the skull of the goblin closest to you, before the remaining goblins think better of charging you and break for the eastern tunnel.

Party is up.

Goblin Caves Side View | Lost City Map | Roll20 Maps

Botting Baheera

The genie warlock targets the goblin nearest the one just slain by Tekumbray's arrow, with an eldritch blast, killing yet another. Cayde swings his hammer but is unable to land a blow. The Adonius-wolf savages one of the closest goblins, tearing the leg clean off of the unfortunate goblin.

Eldtrich Blast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

More goblins flood in from the northern passage, while the lone remaining goblin from the first wave stabs at the Adonius-wolf, but fails to land a meaningful blow.

DM Rolls:

Shortsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Party is up.
