Roll Perception but add your Trapfinding Bonus.

Art quickly disables another pit, finding it much the same: a 10 foot deep hole with a pillow at the bottom.


Hagin, upon reaching the door you find it locked.

Art, you disable the trap easily, and find that its simply a 10 foot deep pit with a pillow at the bottom.

The map in my previous post was updated.

Ember, as you walk up and stop you realize that just around the corner is where the floor appears to be rigged to drop. You have no idea what it will do, but you know that stepping there will cause the floor to open. Also as you moved up you noticed two more levers on the walls.

Art, you notice a trap directly next to you before you start walking. Quickly walking around the opposite side you reach Hagin, and after looking at the lever in the alcove hard, you determine that it opens something but its not the only one here. There has to be a few more.


Dont mind me, just dottin the thread, spying on all of you. Watching you...always watching...always watching...0_0


Hagin moves up caustiously, and notices a lever in the alcove to the south.

Art and Ember quietly move in, Hagin behind them and Gael between them. Nothing seems to jump out, and for the moment, the screams wails and sobs are quiet.

Sorry for not updating, we got some CRAP news yesterday about our jobs (ie we wont have them come August 5th) so it was kind of a rough day, and I am still not entirely over it. MEH

Alright, taking over for Gael!

At Feraya's proclamation, the paladin stands erect. She seems to pause for a moment, and then walks up to Feraya and jabs a finger into his chest. "You foolish foolish child!", she begins, her voice raising. "We need to stick together, and find out who is in trouble, and this is what you do?! You stand here, demanding we refuse to go find out what is happening? Do you honestly think the villagers knew that this would happen? We are trapped in here, and we have to find out what is going on. Our best bet right now lies in the wailing. Its an obvious cry for help! But if you wish to stay here in this dangerous place by yourself? Then so be it! But if anything befalls you it will be on YOUR head!" With that, Gael storms off and stands in the corner behind Hagin and the rest.

Once the door is open, the light from the room spills into a series of what appear to be hallways. The wailing is a bit louder here, but its not certain which direction it comes from.

Ok folks, the map (HERE!) shows what Art can see via his Darkvision. The rest of you cannot see much as the light (Did Hagin have light cast on any of his belongings?) is very dim.

Just a few things folks:

1) Work is block websites. I dunno if Paizo will get blocked or not, but most of Google has been beyond the search, so combat and things will have be handled when I get home. Non combat stuff I can still do...for now.

2) We may get a few people posting in here that are NOT part of this game. Thats because Jlighter, who was the guy running the 2 extra games with the people who I did not choose for this game has vanished completely. So I am going to run an AP for em, but I need a place for them to come talk to me, so here it is.

3) For those who are popping in: Please tell me WHICH AP you would prefer, Curse of the Crimson Throne or Second Darkness. If you are not sure, just say so. You can keep your old character, or you can make a new one. If you are gonna make a new one let me know and I will post creation rules.

Art:

You are fairly certain that there are no traps. You also can hear the wailing here, louder then previously.

Just a warning: Work is blocking sites now, and I cannot access anything google related but the main site. So no battlemaps, ect. And I have no idea how long Paizo will work. So, most updates will occur after 7pm EST now during the week.

You are pretty sure that the wailing is louder at this door.

This area is very quiet.


You have about 45 minutes left on Mage Armor Ember. I am keeping track. Every so often the wailing cuts out, only to start back up again as well.

His Goddess is Pharasma with the death and repose domains as well as the undead subdomain.

First level feats are selective channel and Extra Channel.

He'll be Lawful Neutral with the ability to channel positive energy.

Depending on the number of undead faced (say Carrion crown), I would as I leveled up get Improved channel, turn undead, and channel smite, or if I'm not facing many undead, (say Rise of the Runelords) I will go weapon focus, dazzling display (since my intimidate will be high), shatter defenses.

I would also look into a couple of custom feats/PrC if its a home game.

I would allow this guy myself. Hell I wanna try something like it now :P


The stairs in the first room go up a grand total of 5 feet, onto small landings.


Pro Ending here. I would rather have a nice epic and fulfilling conclusion then have the game peter out to nothing as I have to come up with more and more to challenge the players.


So what happens Alex if they get enough XP to hit 5th level before leaving?

Will they all of a sudden shoot up 2 levels? :P

Feraya:

Through all the knowledge you have accumulated, you are pretty sure that Art has had a visitation by a spirit of some sort. Beyond that, you are honestly not sure what is going on. There is definitely some sort of magic at work here however.

Ember:

Checking him over his pulse is normal, and you are fairly sure that he just fainted from stress, and whatever else happened. From being raised in a family of sorcerers, you are pretty sure that some form of arcane power has just awakened in him. You also fairly certain that if you shake him he will probably wake up.

Your Detect Magic shows that the book he stowed in his pack is glowing faintly, with necromancy. He himself is also glowing but you cannot tell what sort of energy it is.

Hagin:

Checking him over his pulse is normal, and you are fairly sure that he just fainted from stress, and whatever else happened. His breathing is even as well, and he should wake up if shaken a bit.


You are not resting until you try to rest. Sorry Feraya.


Art:

As you lean against the wall, your heart throbbing and your muscles aching, you start to feel something. Its like something is touching your mind, something is trying to get its way in. Sadly, you are too stressed from the battle to fight it off, and energy floods your mind. Suddenly you feel your mind expand, as if something has awoken inside you. Then, a voice that is not your own speaks in your mind. "Awaken your power! Take up my cause! Help my soul rest!" Without warning, you feel your body start to shake...and you black out.

To everyones surprise, Art suddenly goes rigid against the wall. He starts to glow, slowly at first, and then a bright flash covers the room, emanating from Art. His eyes glow, and he speaks out in a voice not his own, the words completely indecipherable. The power in them, however, flows out and reverberates through the room, shaking the bones on the floor and making your skin crawl.

Without warning, Art lurches forward, walks to the back wall, and pushes something in the wall. A large opening appears in the wall, and inside are some bones, a backpack, and a book. He takes the book and pack, and then puts the book into his pack. He then turns around, and speaks loudly in an otherworldly voice. "This one has been chosen to take up my cause! Let no one disturb my remains save him!" Then, Art's eyes roll up in his head, and he collapses, unconcious.


Since you can in fact crit on a spell (as long as it uses an attack roll you can) I am gonna roll the crit confirm here to keep things moving: Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, Damage 1d3 ⇒ 3. Oh and Art you are forgetting to put your HP and AC in your posts for me :P

ROUND 4 RESULTS

Thinking quickly, Gael shifts into flanking position opposite Art, and tries her best to take advantage and land a telling blow as she has done so many times this battle. However, this Skeleton seems a bit smarter and stronger, and is able to block the blow with its shield easily. Meanwhile, Feraya flings a ball of Acid at the creature, and nails it square in its face. The creature flails as it burns, and the acid manages to drip its way down through the skeleton burning it fiercly. The skeleton recovers enough to try to bash Gael with its blade.

Skeleton vs Gael - Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 vs AC 17, Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

The skeletons blade, however, barely misses Gaels head!

Ember manages to wake up and lay on the ground, muttering and watching the battle warily.

In a fury only a dwarf can bring, Art slams his axe Tremble into the Skeletal Captains spine, managing to to snap the spinal column in two. The captain falls to the ground with a sigh, and the bones lay still.

Hagin, saying things in an odd tounge, heals Ember.

And combat over! Congratulations people you beat an encounter that was actually damn hard! Gael's made greatsword skills were impressive. For the Hillside encounter you each get 280xp, and for this encounter you get 780XP....which should put everyone at 1580 XP total! Which means...YOU LEVEL UP! Go to the OOC thread, roll HP, and post any changes you are making (new spells, new BAB, saves, ect). Please note for HP, you roll, and then take either the roll OR Average HP for your Hit Dice. Feel free to move on when ready, just remember to post what square you move to in the dungeon.

ROUND 3 RESULTS:

Gael holds the line against the two skeletons up front, and manages to yet again smash another one with broad overhand blows. As Gael cuts it down she shifts over slightly to harry the captain better. Feraya is quick to finish off the last grunt with a burst of energy missiles from his outstretched hand. The Captain, seeing the paladin next to him, attempts to slash her with his beautiful longsword.

Skeletal Captain vs Gael - Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 vs AC 17. Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Gael however quickly brings up her great sword and blocks the blow easily.

Art quickly steps forward with an angry cry, attempting to bring all his might to bear on the captain, the last skeleton remaining. The skeleton is able to block the blow from Tremble with its shield, but the sword manages to barely get under its guard, but it does no damage to the creature.

Ember stabilizes.

As this is all going on, Hagin grabs Ember, drags her five feet away from where the skeleton that felled her lays, and then calls upon the gifts of the gods to heal his group (+3 HP to Everyone, including you Ember.). Ember opens her eyes, but is still on the ground.

Art, I had you move and use your attack on the captain.

ROUND 2 RESULTS

After moving up to face the Captain, Gael quickly brings her sword down hard on the one of the minion skeletons facing her, shattering it just like she shattered the last one with a mighty and terrible blow.

Feraya lobs yet another blob of acid at the same skeleton as the last time, and even with having to make sure to not hit his friends he manages to land it. It hisses slightly and the skeleton looks shakey, but its still standing!

The skeletons are now able to retaliate! This time however, at some unseen command, all but the Captain drops their weapons, and flail at the group with their claws!

Skeleton Attacks and Damage:

S1 vs Ember - Claw 1 Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 vs AC 17, Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5. Claw 2 Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 vs AC 17, Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

S2 vs Art - Claw 1 Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 vs AC 14, Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3. Claw 2 Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 vs AC 14, Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

SC vs Gael - Longsword Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4, Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The skeleton facing Ember digs both its claws horribly inter her, knocking her to the ground with horrible gashes torn into her! 10 damage total to Ember, puts her at -3.

Art's little skeleton only manages to get one of his claws into the dwarf, managing to inflict a bit of harm. 4 damage to Art

The skeletons facing Gael actually seem to get in each others way, as the Captain completely misses the paladin, and the other only scrapes Gael's face with one of its claws! 4 damage to Gael

Ember is lying on the ground and bleeding, and is unable to do anything. Art, seeing Ember fall unleashes a furious attack upon his target, managing to catch and destroy it with Tremble. Hagin moves to stand over the prone form of Ember, and takes a swing at the skeleton in front of him, but does literally nothing to it. I combined both your actions Hagin so that way you could at least DO something. Ember, I need a stabilization roll for ya this coming round.

ROUND 1 RESULTS:

Gael is quickest to react, slamming her sword hard into the skeleton nearest here, shattering it under the sheer force of the blow. The bones drop to the ground, unmoving and in tiny bits. Feraya quickly flings a small orb of acid at another skeleton, who despite the bit of cover that the wall gives it hit and slightly burnt from the acid. It is still standing however, and looks angrily at Feraya.

The skeletons are quick to move, coming up on the party and attacking! The two farthest walk up to Art, and the assault begins, the skeletons using their swords on the would be heroes.

Attack Rolls!:

S1 vs Ember - Attack 1d20 ⇒ 6 vs AC 17, Damage 1d6 ⇒ 6
S2 vs Art - Attack 1d20 ⇒ 2 vs AC 14, Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5

Each of the skeletons attacks their targetse, 3 of them attempting to down the dwarf! However, Art is much more nimble then these undead and is quick to evade every attack! The ones attacking Ember and Gael are equally pathetic and miss their attacks!

Ember then attempts to burn the skeleton facing her, and it quickly attempts to strike her!

AoO vs Ember:

S1 vs Ember - Attack 1d20 ⇒ 12 vs AC 17, Damage 1d6 ⇒ 3

However Ember still proves too nimble for the ungainly creature, and is able to blast it with a ray of flame. Unfortunately, it simply scorches the bones and the creature stares unblinkingly at the changeling waif.

In the full swing of battle, Art quick reorganizes himself and begins to try to rain blows down on the creature. The first attack with Tremble connects but does nothing to the creature, while the second blow misses.

Finally, in a tounge nearly unrecognizable to those in the room, Hagin casts a spell, filling the group with mystical power.

Ok do me a favor guys: Post your current HP and current AC in your posts during the round just so I can find it easier! :D ROUND 2 MAP!

Lets say I have a creature with DR10/Bludgeoning.

Will a +1 Magic Sword ignore that? Or, because the sword is slashing, and not bludgeoning, will the DR still take effect? What if it was +2?

The SRD seems kinda wishy washy about this so I want to try to make sure I am clear, cause its been a WHILE.


Once Hagin posts if he is actually going to be doing anything this round or what. You do get an action Hagin as normal :P
