Who is on the slow track, who is on the normal track? And Avoreal, if you play through the AP you get special weapons called dominant weapons; if you attack the Karzoug images with these you give him a negative level he can't save. That gives you the opportunity to give him six negative levels before you fight.

Karzoug doesn't have a set of spellbooks, but he does have a Sihedron Tome - this is a minor artifact with infinite pages that contains all wizard/sorcerer spells in the Core Rulebook except for Enchantment and Illusion spells. It also has the spells Blood Money, Covetous Aura, Deathwine, Raiment of Command, Sign of Wrath, Swipe, and Unconscious Agenda.

Meanwhile... In the depths of the metaplanes a huge, dark figure stirs its obscene bulk as one of its minions grovels before it. Our agent was stopped and the Soul Lens was disrupted Oh Mighty One! Our plans have been delayed but we have other avenues to pursue! Please spare us! The figure is only mildly displeased, having an eternity to plan its takeover of the Material Plane and the puny world of Golarion. It swipes a few of its servants into its gaping maw to be digested over eons to signal its acceptance of the report. As it resettled his bulk amongst the cowering entities on the vast plateau it called home, it dwelled on the heroes who had stopped it. Revel in your victory for now mortals. But soon or late your world will belong to Leng. The vast croak of its laughter echoes like thunder, and for moment in the comfort of the Grand Lodge you swear you can feel the eyes of a malevolent entity burning their gaze into you. Then it is gone and you can only feel the sunshine on your shoulders. Congratulations for finishing the last part of "The Spires of Xin-Shalast", a hideously long dungeon crawl. Before I shut down the thread, is there anything that I need to report to allow you guys to advance in level or are you all doing it?

Pretty sure Vars killed the storm giants? As Avoreal hits Karzoug with the battering blasts he flies backwards into the wal and his body is battered into the stone. NO! I WAS PROMISED! I WAS PROMISED GOLARION, THAT THEY WOULD GRANT ME DOMINION IF I SERVED! He falls to the ground at Vars feet, blood bubbling out of his mouth as he protests while the life drains from him. Promised...promised... His head falls to the side and the Runewell's golden light falls to a subtle glow from the hideous storm - its link with its master cut. The Runelord of Greed is dead.
Map
Karzoug's clearly getting desperate, looking for any source of escape. Seeing none, he'll toss off two spells. He flies away in a parabolic arc towards the runewell, then turns and fires a quickened baleful polymorph at Vuvu and another baleful polymorph at Avoreal in the hope of stopping them long enough to escape. DC 30
Map
Busy weekend, sorry. Fortitude: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39
The streak's alive! Karzoug snarls after being attacked by Avoreal's magic. Very clever little wizard, but perhaps you will consider consequences when you and your friends wither in front of you! He hurls a horrid wilting spell at all of you. DC 32 Fortitude Save for half or take... Damage (Horrid Wilting): 20d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 4, 1, 6, 3, 5, 6, 1, 2, 6, 2, 3, 5, 2, 5, 1, 5, 2) = 69 The storm giant Vars attacks is clearly outmatched, but it attempts to rally. Attack (Greatsword): 1d20 + 27 - 6 ⇒ (4) + 27 - 6 = 25 The other storm giant attempts to kill Vars as well. Attack (Greatsword): 1d20 + 27 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 27 - 3 = 35
Sadly their giant weaponry is no match for the experience battler. Go.
Map
The cloud giant to the north hops across the chasm in order to get close to Vars. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25 Karzoug contemptuously looks at Vuvu. That will quite enough of your third-rate magic, warbler. I'll deal with you next. But he turns to the deadliest threat and unleashes a torrent of hideous green energy at Vars. Attack (Disintegrate): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37
Damage (Disintegrate): 80d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3, 3, 4, 6, 1, 4, 4, 5, 3, 4, 2, 6, 3, 6, 5, 5, 5, 1, 6, 2, 1, 6, 5, 2, 2, 1, 2, 1, 6, 3, 3, 4, 2, 4, 5, 6, 4, 6, 1, 2, 4, 2, 5, 4, 2, 3, 2, 2, 3, 4, 1, 6, 1, 5, 4, 6, 4, 3, 4, 1, 1, 1, 2, 4, 3, 1, 5, 6, 4, 2, 1, 2, 5, 4, 4, 1, 5) = 276 If you save take... Damage (Disintegrate): 10d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6, 6, 1, 5, 4, 4, 5) = 43 The last cloud giant will try to, finally, kill the ghaele azata. Attack (Greatsword, Power Attack): 1d20 + 27 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 27 - 3 = 39
Damage (Greatsword, Power Attack): 4d6 + 21 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 3) + 21 + 6 = 40

Yes, maze is awesome for using against low Intelligence characters. Since Duhwoo has an 8 I don't know if it's actually possible for him to escape - I don't think so. Vars has yet to take damage so he should be fine - his AC is 50 which literally gives him a 5% chance of being hit by enemies with normal attacks and you've tied up the caster. With a Ring of Evasion he's a nightmare to attack, although Karzoug got lucky with disintegrate when you guys dealt with Karzoug's images.
Map
Sure - it's on the line from 4/5 on the "landing" platform so it's technically stretching from I to N. He does have mindblank up. Trotter, you're right I forgot about invisibility. How many images do you have left by the way? Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 87 Karzoug's image vanishes from next to the runewell once the lightning dances around it, echoing the hideous buildup of energy in the well - like atomized gold spewing light in every direction. Karzoug's voice echoes across the chamber, triumphant and backed by hideous, mad laughter. YES! YES! With the rune giant's death I have accumulated enough energy and I will be free! Ilvaradin, great Ilvaradin awaits my arrival, where armies will arrive brought by black galleons to help me conquer this world! I have been promised, and after ten thousand years I will no longer be denied!
Map
The adult blue dragon does have SR. Don't Duhwoo and Trotter take damage as well? You've got resist electricity for them but not immunity? Fortitude: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35 Fortitude save vs. Holy Aura made. The greater dispel magic doesn't meet the highest barrier, and if I'm reading the spell right it's goes from most powerful to least powerful to start failing? You see a brief flickering around Karzoug as a spell fails. Fortitude: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33 Karzoug is annoyed by all of you, but looks at Duhwoo. You are a particularly annoying toad, especially for a dullard. Fortunately I have a test for you to prove yourself. Karzoug casts maze on Duhwoo. Casting Defense: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (2) + 33 = 35 He then casts quickened dimension door again - and two Karzougs appear, one next to the runewell, one on the far side of the cavern. The rune giant dies to the ghaele azata and the blue dragon responds with another attack on the ghaele. Attack: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (16) + 30 = 46 Meanwhile the Storm giant will bull rush the lillend ghale backwards - into the Prismatic Wall. Take 20 fire damage, 40 acid damage, 80 electricity damage, make a DC 31 Fortitude save or be petrified, make a DC 31 will save or be sent to another plane, make a DC 31 will save or suffer from insanity. The cloud giant near where you landed slashes repeatedly at Trotter, barely managing to miss him once, but crushes an image instead. Attack (Greatsword): 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (16) + 27 = 43
The blue dragon renews its assault on the ghaele azata. Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (12) + 23 = 35

I don't see why not for a prepared spell - you're basically dropping the metamagic feat, which in and of itself isn't an advantage really, since you're wasting the prepared slot X spell levels higher than the normal slot. I'd certainly let any of you say "I don't want to use my prepared metamagic feat on this spell" - I can't imagine it comes up often enough to worry about it in RAW since there are almost no conceivable circumstances where you don't want to utilize your feat unless you picked the wrong feat when levelling. Regardless the economy works out anyway, it could just as easily be: Round 1) quicken time stop; other spell
The whole point of time stop is you gain additional actions after all, not that you lose actions. Edit - As it is, the economy works for someone who's maybe panicking a little - his priority is A) Escape B) Heal C) Protect D) Destroy.
Map
No worries - to be honest I've never gotten to cast 9th level spells as a character before, and it's rare to see two 9th level spells bump up against each other. The flesh to stone hits Karzoug's remaining spell turning and overwhelms it. Resonating Effect: 1d100 ⇒ 15 Spell Description for wackiness. The spell doesn't take hold (but I don't think it reduces any spell turning levels for Avoreal if I'm reading the spell right). Fortitude: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29 Karzoug screams in pain and rage as the spell takes effect. He casts a quickened time stop. Time Stop: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 He casts a quickened dimension door and moves to C7. Then he casts wish and restores all the damage done to him and the rune giant. He'll cast globe of invulnerability on the next turn and then time snaps back into place. The southern most storm giant will attempt to leap across the chasm to land on the stairs to advance on the group that so gravely wounded the Runelord. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24 The other storm giant will advance past the runelord to interpose himself between you and the Runelord on the platforms. The blue dragon will land behind the ghaele azata . Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30
The Rune Giant, restored, will attempt to destroy the ghaele. Attack (Longsword): 1d20 + 29 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 29 - 4 = 26
That's the most uneven rolling possible. Go.
Map
Big - really big. There's about 100 feet of vertical difference between the arrival platform and where you are now, it's 55 feet "across" and about 150 feet long. And the fire pits below are another 50 feet. And you could, in theory, surround Karzoug (I think that's who you meant?) but you can't really depend on him staying in place.
Map
Hmmm, I would have thought prismatic wall stopped the movement since the dimension door would have to move through the wall and the indigo layer stops all spells (and a dimension door/bard's escape falls under all spells). However there appears to be some disagreements about that and I don't see a WOG ruling. Therefore I will rule that Trotter, Duhwoo, Vuvu and Avoreal can teleport using bard's escape but the azata and Vars are cut off because the spell effect hits the indigo layer. Name the squares you're placing people in please - or else I get to place them!
Map
Really? After they move you perform fourteen rounds of buffing? Trotter, don't forget to roll Fortitude before you move! Any actions taken if the Fort Roll isn't made are considered void for that round. As you exit the portal you emerge on a platform of stone - on a distant throne Karzoug laughs at your arrival. You're just in time! Thank you for killing so many of my minions. I only need one more soul to feed the runewell, then I'll be free to re-enter Golarion and take my rightful place as ruler! Spoiler:
Initiative (Karzoug): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Initiative (Blue Dragon): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 Initiative (Rune Giant): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Initiative (Storm Giant): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Initiative (Storm Giant): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 Initiative (Avoreal): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 Initiative (Duhwoo): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Initiative (Trotter): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Initiative (Vars): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Initiative (Vuvu): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Initiative (Ghaele Azata): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Initiative (Lillend Azata): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Wow - you lost initiative by .18 The two storm giants unleash chain lightning magic amongst you. DC 18 Reflex for half. Damage (Chain Lightning): 15d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 4, 1, 4, 2, 3, 1, 2, 6, 4, 4, 4, 6) = 45
Karzoug meanwhile points a hand and unleashes a meteor swarm against Trotter, Avoreal and the two Azata. Reflex -4 for Saving Vs. Meteor Swarm, save DC 32. Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
Damage (Meteor Swarm Explosions): 24d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 2, 6, 3, 4, 3, 1, 5, 5, 3, 6, 1, 1, 3, 5, 6, 5, 1, 1, 6, 4, 6) = 92 Karzoug then holds up a rod and casts quickened time stop. Time Stopped For: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 rounds. He uses the time to drop a cloudkill Fortitude Save DC 29 or 1d4 Constitution damage on the platform and erects a prismatic wall between Vars, the Azatas and the rest of you. The blue dragon springs into the air, twists and then vomits lightning on the back rank of your group. So Avoreal, Duhwoo, Vuvu and Avoreal Damage (Breath Weapon): 12d8 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 1, 6, 1, 3, 6, 1, 1, 7, 8) = 42 DC 23 Reflex Finally the Rune Giant advances and slams hard into the Ghaele Azata. Attack (Longsword): 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 27 - 4 = 30
Map
As Vars and Vuvu touch the sphere with their hands and Duhwoo gingerly extends the toe sticking out of his worn-out boot to touch the sphere, bright red flames engulf their figures and they seem to be turned into ash in front of your eyes. Vuvu, Vars, Duhwoo: You arrive on a platform suspended above a lake of fire. Fifty feet above and to the side stand two storm giants, up stairs above you stands a rune giant looming forty feet above you and behind him stands Karzoug and a giant blue dragon. Please roll Fortitude DC 20 (don't laugh) or be stunned for one round. You are not yet in combat but may not yet act! I just thought it'd be fun to tease the slowpokes. Map up when Avoreal and Trotter follow. |
