That’s A Wrap!
163 games were reported, split almost evenly between GM Choice and First Come First Served recruitment. 86 GMs ran the games and hundreds of players joined them. What a great turnout!
Once the last few games get reported, we will be mailing out 50 randomly drawn prize vouchers, so make your offerings to the gods of chance, and may fortune be on your side.
We want to hear your feedback, so please fill out this feedback form. Let us know what you liked, and how we can improve in the future. This form is anonymous, but if you want us to get back to you, please let us know how (paizo forum message, discord DM, or email).
Outpost VI feedback survey
Thank you all for participating in Outpost VI - Strange-ish Things, and be on the lookout for the next PBP event, Gameday XII, coming this fall.
Ethelnir. wrote: For reporting, we use RPGChronicles with the number of this event, right?
Or Do we have to do something else?
Please refer to your GM Bulletin email dated 20Feb2023 for specifics on reporting. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me.
Closing Weekend!
Okay GMs, this is the closing weekend for Outpost. Most of you have already wrapped up your games and reported by now (great job, by the way), but we still have about 30 games still going. Please wrap these up as soon as possible so your players can get ready for the next adventure.
Even if it looks like you won’t finish the gameplay by May 15 we are asking you to go ahead and report your games by the deadline so that we can finish up the admin stuff and close out the convention before Paizocon. Please help us by getting these last few games reported. Thanks again for stepping up to run games. It is greatly appreciated!
GM TOP wrote: I see there are door prizes (drawn randomly behind the scenes) and also boons rolled by pfs1 players. Are there multiple boons to roll between or just one option?
There are two options for the pfs1 GM's to chose from, but didn't see anything about the player 'roll a 20 and get a boon' boon.
All PF1 players have a 10% chance to win a boon. There are 3 boons to choose from.
Only 2 Weeks Left!
GMs, with only 2 weeks left in Outpost VI play, you should be winding down your tables (assuming you aren’t already finished) and getting them ready for reporting by our HQ crew. Hopefully you are in a good place to finish by the May 15 end date, but if not, please go ahead and mark your tables Ready for Reporting by May 15 so we can wrap up the convention in time for Paizocon. Then, finish your games as soon as you can. If you need assistance in pushing your game to the finish, please contact your PBP lodge Venture Officers.

Race for the Runecarved Key is 4-00 for sure.
Bonekeep is 4-00-3E
Odd, yes?

Jhaeman wrote: I wonder if you fine folks could give me some advice. The next SFS scenario I'm looking to play or run is # 2-14, Data Purge. It's a Tier 9-12, and there's only three of us in my local group that have characters of that level. Because the Iconics only go up to Level 8, we don't have a way to fill the fourth spot (we have some other players, but they're pretty new and only have PCs in the level 1 or 2 range.) I don't suppose it'd be possible to have the players without high enough level characters play Level 8 pre-gens for no credit just to round out the table (assuming everyone with PCs in the range knew and agreed it'd be a touch harder than it should be)?
I would normally just run the game here via PBP, but I've noticed some difficulty getting tables to fire in the past year, and the inability to run pre-gens would exacerbate the problem.
Happy to take any ideas on board. Thanks!
Unfortunately, as Redelia mentioned above, the rules don't allow for bringing in out of level characters. The section in the guide about Legal Table size shows how to deal with only 3 players at a 9+ scenario.
Starfinder Society Guide wrote: Adventures with a minimum level of 9 or higher: can be run with only 3 players, but only if all players at the table agree. While we expect this “hard mode” playthrough experience to be satisfying, we want to caution you that, as the adventures are designed for a minimum of four players, they will be more difficult than normal. In the future, there may be pregens at the higher levels, but currently there is no way to allow someone to "sit in" on a table with a minimum level of 9+.
That said, if you play/run in PBP or VTT you'll open the field up to a much broader pool of players than just your local group, and I doubt you'll have much trouble finding enough to fill the table.

phaeton_nz wrote: Are there any reporting links for Outpost? The PFS2e Bounty I was running is now finished. Also are there any bon or voucher rolls for the players?
I'm also going to run Among the Gods (PFS1e) under my own event code, not Outpost, so it may as well be removed from the schedule.
I also had a request to run PFS2e Return to the Grave which will be starting tomorrow. Do you think it could be finished before Outpost ends? If not, I'll run it under my own code.
OK. RPG Chronicles for reporting.
I'm doing my Chronicles manually since I'm not trusting RPG Chronicles. Besides, I do have an account but it's not showing the data for that game. It also says I have 15 games listed but is only showing 12. This makes me leery of using it.
The reporting information was all in the Outpost VI GM Bulletin (Event 2710406) email sent on 20FEB2023. If you can't find that email, DM me and I'll pass along the content for you.
For PF2 and SF there are no boons (you get bonus AcP). PF1 tables should roll for boons (20 wins). Paizo has graciously provided gift vouchers that will be randomly drawn from the pool of all players and GMs.
Return to the Grave can easily be finished in 5 weeks if you are diligent.
As was mentioned to you in a different thread, if you have problems with RPGChronicles, please DM me either here or on Discord (bigrin42#2231) and I can help look into it for you.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!
As of now 00:00 GMT+0 March 6 Outpost VI is live! Players and GMs alike, have fun!
One Week To Go!
GMs, with one week to go before Outpost VI officially starts, you should be collecting player information, finalizing your tables, and making sure you have everything ready to go. While you cannot use any game text from the scenario yet, feel free to have your players start introductions and Role Play in the gameplay channels.

I mean - I have my PFS number, but the closest recorded lodge is over 2 hours away and hasn't responded to my attempted contacts. It makes me wonder if they simply went dark during the pandemic and are now defunct. The few organized play games I find for Feb/March are states away.
It seems that it should be as simple as "Thank you for your order, newb. Now go _here_ to create a Pathfinder Society identity, then go _here_ to locate the closest local lodge. And look _here_ to find the next Organized Play event near you. Welcome to the Society, recruit. See you ate the table."
Welcome to the Pathfinder side of the pond, newb! DM me with your location and I'll be happy to help you find some Society games in your local area. Also, if you are interested in playing online games, whether live games via Virtual Table top (VTT) or via Play by Post (PBP) we have a thriving community both here on the paizo servers and on a number of Discord lodges. Again, I'd be happy to help point you in the right direction if you are interested.
I apologize that it isn't as easy to hook new Society players up with local lodges as it should be. That has been a long-standing issue that we are starting (I hope) to come to grips with. We have to strike a balance between accessibility and privacy issues and so far have managed to come down hard on the privacy side of things. I would love to hear some suggestions, if you have them, on how to help our volunteers be more accessible for new players.
In the meantime, please DM me here on the forums, or via discord (bigrin42#2231) and 'll be happy to do what I can to get you connected in Real Life and/or online.

P.S. I know it's easy for those of us that have been involved in Society for a long time to say how open and friendly we are, and then leave newcomers in the lurch when it comes to details. I hope anyone with issues getting started or connected with Society games will call out for help and get connected with a Venture Officer who can guide and direct. After all, we're supposed to be a community of gamers, and what's better for community than welcoming growth?

I also enjoy playing/running B14: The Blackwood Truce. Like B1, there is a great opportunity to make an ally, not just kill everything in sight. And also a chance for your players to SPOILER ALERT fall face first in a pool of mud. How much fun is that? ;)
I will 100% throw my vote to B10. Chasing baby dinosaurs around? I could run/play that 10x a week!

Doug, sorry this happened. We actually have a policy to notify people when they have been removed, and I am sorry it wasn't followed this time. Please DM me the player info so I can follow up and make sure they are given the chance to participate.
General Seating now open!
General seating is now open for all players. While there is no limit to the number of games you can sign up for, we do ask that everyone do their best not to overcommit. We also would ask that you not sign up for tons of games at the very beginning, to give everyone the chance to find a seat at a table. Sign up for a few, then wait a day or two to give others the chance.
Remember that the 1 game per character rule still applies to PBP/D games, so no signing up to play in multiple games with the same character.

CALLING STARFINDER GMs
With today's blog announcement that the SFS 1-99 special is now replayable twice (once in each tier), we expect the turnout for players to be higher than previously planned. That means we are looking for some additional Backup GMs (who may turn into Primary GMs very quickly).
I am opening up the Specials GM Registration Form for the weekend to see if anyone wants to throw their hat in the pool.
Outpost VI Special GM Registration
Please note: Multi-table specials are a fast-paced environment where everyone needs to be posting regularly and GMs especially need to be able to respond to fast changing conditions. Therefore, please only apply if you are familiar with how specials run, and are comfortable GMing in this environment.

Greetings Pathfinders, Starfinders, & Pathfinder Adventure Card Game enthusiasts!
We’re all very excited to announce the upcoming PbP Outpost VI! I will try to keep this as brief as possible so that folks can find all the information quickly. The theme for this will be Strange-ish Things. When choosing your scenarios to run, try to choose ones with some sort of focus on aberrations, outsiders, or mysteries…preferably all three!
Don’t have a scenario in mind that seems to fit the theme? That’s no problem. We can help you “reskin” almost any scenario or adventure to fit the theme with a little creative thought, just ask!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for GMs)
How do I sign up to GM?
Go to our GM Registration form. Fill out the form and choose which scenario you would like to GM. Please fill out the form for each separate scenario you wish to run.
How many games can I sign up to GM?
You may only GM one table of one special. You may sign up to GM as many other games as you choose, though we ask that you consider what you can reasonably handle while still providing a great experience for your players and completing all games within the given timeframe. Remember, life happens to the best of us, so please do not commit to maximum capacity.
If this will be your first time GMing PbP or you are still learning the ropes, we strongly recommend that you only do one game at a time. It’s more work than it looks.
What if I want to sign up to GM a Special?
If you wish to GM one of the Specials above please fill out this form. Deadline for submission is Jan 16, 2023.
Specials GM Registration Form
In addition, we require that all those who GM a special have some prior experience with GMing Play-by-Post! GMing PBP is fun, but specials are a time-pressured environment inappropriate for learning the techniques of a new format! Instead, GM something else with us, and then apply for the next set of specials we offer.
What do you mean by scenario support?
Paizo will gift you the scenario that you wish to run — if you sign up by our deadline. Not included: APs, Adventures in hardback books (eg:Dark Archives, King Maker Companions), Emerald Spire, or Thornkeep.
If you need scenario support, you must register your game by February 06, 2023.
What if I want to add a game as a GM after the February 06, 2023 Scenario Support Deadline?
That’s fine, you just need to provide your own copy of the adventure.
May I add a game after March 06, 2023, the official start of PBP Outpost VI?
Yes, you may add a game after the official start of Outpost.Though you must still register your game through the GM Registration for tracking purposes as well as finish the game by the end of Outpost. The Outpost team reserves the right to rule that it is too late to begin a game for convention credit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for Players)
How do I sign up to play?
Once we begin to get some submitted games we will create the spreadsheet with all of the games for General Player sign-up on February 10, 2023.This spreadsheet will be posted shortly.
What are the different PBP Lodges?
PbP Lodges
Will there be boons for Players and GMs?
We expect to be able to offer boons for PFS1 and PACS, plus increased AcP for PFS2 and SFS.
Can I participate if I am new to Play-by-Post?
Certainly! Just let your GMs and Players know. They’ll be glad to help. We also have plenty of resources available to help you prepare, reach out within the appropriate lodge so we know what you need.
When will you open the seats for signup?
We will open up early signup for GMs on February 07, 2023. This is a courtesy for our GMs. GMs. Please limit yourself to 1 table of your choice and 1 Special until February 10.
General player signup will open February 10, 2023. Please only sign up for the number of games you can handle. It’s better to enjoy one or two games than to get overwhelmed. Also, please remember other people are excited to play. Even if you are a player who can handle multiple tables, please be considerate and sign up for only a few to begin and allow others time to sign up before you add more.
Wah! Why do you have so few tables of the Special? I won’t get a seat!
Don’t panic! We will be starting with only so many tables each Special. We’re doing this so that we can better respond to demand, and so that we don’t overschedule tables.
If the table of the tier you want is full, please add yourself to the waitlist of the special you want. Being on the waitlist is the best way to get a seat in the special. List the character you prefer to play — if we can’t fill a table at your tier, we’ll give you the option of coming in with another character.
We’ll fill new tables from the player waitlist.
What kind of scenarios fit the theme?
With a theme of Strange-ish Things, we are focusing on scenarios that include aberrations, outsiders, or mysteries…preferably all three! There are plenty of scenarios that fit the theme already, but if you have one you want to run, we can help you “reskin” it if you like. Some of the obvious scenarios that fit the theme are:

In my opinion specials are much more fun via PbP because you can actually follow some of the story. Every special I've played in person (at conventions) was - for me - a pretty boring series of seemingly arbitrary combats and skill checks with no real idea of what was going on. In person, they usually feel super rushed and the noise level makes it nearly impossible to hear the GM or enjoy the social space of the table.
Lest you think you are alone, that is my feeling on in-person specials as well. I have a hard enough time hearing my GM at a normal table, but in the chaos of a special, I might as well have just been rolling dice for fun. But some people thrive in that kind of environment. I'm just glad there are PbP/VTT alternatives available.

UncleFroggy wrote: how do you get those titles (like Venture-Captain, etc.) I'm assuming the stars involve how many GM glyphs one has? No, those are Venture Officer positions. They involve real responsibilities, such as being responsible for managing a Lodge. You apply for open positions, and are accepted by the existing cadre.
Edit: Ninja'd while on the phone :)
