Didn't bother me at all, though I understand the frustration. I hate it when I do stuff like that; much rather you did it :)

Cyclic is a bit overwhelmed by the praise and slips away to find somewhere to go to be alone.

Oh, I'm not saying the final battle was not a challenge. I just meant that it would have been fun to help defend the outpost against the demon army.

Drat. No final army battle with the demons.

"Let's see if they changed their challenge. It does not bode well if they did not. Then again it would be a challenge to mimic this group."

Cyclic is content to take Lady A's orders and takes point, though she does hand the wand back, saying, "I have one and will use it if necessary. No worries."

None here. I don't think the prisoners are in any shape to hustle but I think we will make it anyway.

Cyclic shakes her head, "Afraid I'm no good at taking care of injured folks other than casting a spell on someone with an obvious wound, and I only have a couple of spells left."

Nevertheless she does look for anyone obviously injured and helps pass out water. She sill cast a cure spell if warranted.

Saves for poison cloud:

The first thing Cyclic does is cast a CLW on Mange.

CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Then she guides Mange to the other side of the demon, effectively surrounding it, hoping it is not the exploding kind.

Mange almost trips himself as his teeth get snagged on some thorny vegetation. But, hey, he feels a lot better!

Cyclic looks for something useful to do and casts a DC 16 Bane spell.

Then Mange moves into a flank with Tanbu and attacks, like he has been taught.

Cyclic casts a shield of faith on herself from the wand and tucks it away, sending Mange into combat. Mange rushes forward to attack a demon.

Yes, if the bless is still active from the preps, Cyclic would have gone into combat with the wand of shield of faith in hand and cast shield of faith on Mange and would still be wielding the wand.

You said in the post that Cyclic stashed her wand since she only has one action. I think she would have cast the bless instead, which I think you realized as I see the bless in the party buffs with a 1 minute duration. Is that correct?

I did look for mention of a surprise round but somehow I missed it. Which is pretty unobservant since it is all over the place. Sorry.

Cyclic is still bolded as up for taking an action. Should she be?

Cyclic commands Mange to charge into battle as she wields her wand of bless once she is in range of everyone, then tucks it back into storage, and has Mange wait for them to come to him.

Bless should affect everyone, including the prisoners, except Makros who headed off in the other direction after Sir Ilivan on his suicide mission.

Mange's readied attach for when one comes within range:

to hit bite, bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
damage bite: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
trip, bless: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8

I recommend using the distraction to cut most way through the ropes and have them ready to surge out and attack when they are all ready, perhaps arming them with a weapon or two. It would be a very bad idea to engage with the big demon alone. You could probably stay alive vs. one of the small ones, but without a flanker even that is unlikely. But if you could arm soldier and fight with him that might work. Maybe the demons kept the weapons?

May I assume that Cyclic does not need to roll since he is just sitting there on Mange? Because if not, Mange and Cyclic are going to hold back and come in two turns late rather than spoil the surprise because of a +0 modifier.

"I don't really see a way we can block their retreat, free the prisoners, AND force them to engage us with the group we have. Do you have a plan that will do all that?"

"I'm a little confused. If we are having Greet lure them into an ambush, why are we parking ourselves at the top of the bluff? Or are we going to open fire from the top and forget the ambush? And is Tanbu going to sneak down before we begin action? Do any of those guys fly?"

Cyclic shrugs since she know she will be of little use in the upcoming battle, other than to heal the injured, and then only a couple of times. Then again there is a little holy water left, even if she is not the best aim.

Cyclic considers Greet's suggestion, first clarifying to make sure she has it right.

"So you suggest we stand off and pelt them with ranged attacks and let them come to us and then, if they do not, charge them? I have nothing that would work at range but I am in no hurry to rush in."

"Perhaps one of our rogues would prefer to sneak in before things erupt and spring a surprise on them?"

Turning to Lady Alya, "Now that we can see them, you have any ideas? It seems a good time to plan something."

Cyclic wants to cast some spells before engaging. I'm guessing the barkskin has elapsed so...

Cyclic casts barkskin and ant haul on Mange and uses a wand of bless on the party.

"Retirement? Or do you have something else in mind. I never understood the lure of retiring. But then, as a gnome, it would be odd if I did."

Assuming she does the task, using charges 6 and 7 of this scenario.

Yep. Already said she would.

Anyone have a decent heal skill and can do a treat wounds? Cyclic has +0 and no kit so she is of no use for mundane healing.

Still perched atop the squirming wolf, Cyclic makes an offer.

"I think we should deal with the wounds before we leave. If someone has a cure wand they want me to use on them, hand it over."

"Sure am glad they handed out these holy waters back at camp. Thanks to the repellent, I am uninjured. The rest of you look a little beat up though. I can cast s few cure spells, but nothing that will fix everyone."

From TK Projectile: The type of object thrown doesn’t change the damage type or any other properties of the attack, even if you throw a weapon or magic item in this way. So this would not do holy water damage. At least I do not think so.

Again Cyclic drops another holy bomb on red. Or tries.

Pulling out the vials handed out earlier, she guides Mange towards the nearest swarm(red) as she pulls out a vial of holy water and tosses it at them.

"I don't know how I would feel were I in your place. Andrelis here almost was, had more of us been influenced too. In any case, if everyone was to stop fighting, they would definitely have their way, you know. You just can't give up. Now, let us see what we can do to restore the balance in this place."

After a while watching the unsuccessful attempts to have the knight manage by himself, Cyclic makes a suggestion.

"Someone have him mount up with you. I would do it but Mange... Well, Mange is Mange and I doubt he could handle the bulk. He barely tolerates me."

Cyclic reacted to Tanbu's request to heal at first, but will move with Lady Alya ASAP.

"Andrelis, you OK now? You good to get out of here?"

Cyclic will cast a CLW from her own wand on Makras.

Yea, the whispering voices were a major clue (combined with their being in the Worldwound which has a reputation) that her mind was being messed with. The OOC comments would have made no difference. On the other hand, if the nature of the effect as to also be convinced it was real, then she would not have cast the spell. Insanity is an odd thing and you can have a mental issue and be fully convinced that it is everyone else that has a problem. If that was the nature of the effect then you should retcon her casting. But, dang it, if in real life I started hearing voices like that, and provided I had any sense and was not clinically paranoid, I would start wondering if I was drugged (which translates to bespelled in this case) and try to do something about it. So that is what I had her do.

So in short, if the effect calls for it please retcon her casting.

I'll hold off on Cyclic's response and react based on your judgment.

Greet tries to calm down Mange.

Mange got a 21 on his save and is unaffected. Did you mean Mange tries to calm down Cyclic? Or that Greet tries to calm down all the animals? Does the Protection from Evil help Cyclic out?

Shaking her head she exclaims, "What did you say? Is someone accusing me of doing something?"

Mange whines and glance upward at Cyclic, feeling the turmoil from their empathic link.

Shaking her head again she pulls out a scroll and tries casting a protection from evil on herself, knowing that that will sometimes block things that mess with your head.

Cyclic responds, "I have a few spells and wands, mostly protective, and have excellent armor. Mange can do what you have seen him do. I tend to move in and provide a target to the enemies so that they will attack me and not someone else less well armored. So if someone heads in, I probably will too along with Mange."

"Before any of that, it would be great if you (Tanbu) could slip in and scout first. Like I said before, we may not necessarily be in a position to rescue them. You are assuming the demonic party does not include a demon prince or something awful. I'd really, really like to know what we are up against before we move in."

Cyclic grabs a handful of the holy waters (4), but as she can cast cure spells and has a wand of shield of faith, she will pass on those.
