Since there is no way to sell items, I'm just going to list the stuff you find on the discussion board. If you actually want to claim something for only yourself, then please put in a claim. Otherwise I'll assume that you have it around for either survival purposes in game or other purposes and anyone can use said items.

Things Recovered from the Jenivere

If any of the PC had bulky items that weren't on the original beach gear, they are in the canvas package which was recovered from the longboat.

A bunch of keys
several sea charts and maps
captain's log
fine brandy
model of the Jenivere in a glass bottle
emergency potion vial leather satchel (4 cure light, 1 cure moderate, 4 lesser restoration, 1 remove disease, 1 water breathing, 1 water walking)
leather backpack closed with intricate knots (contents currently unknown)
24 days of preserved rations
random tools and lumber
block and tackle
3x large canvas sheets
2x fishing nets
grappling hook
2x bullseye lanterns
12x flasks of lantern oil
150' of hemp rope
5x shovels

On the Jenivere

The voyage aboard the Jenivere has been absolutely unremarkable and mostly pleasant. The primary problem being the food which is a watery substance that the cook, Rambar, claims is a stew. The well stocked ship does supplement the meals with fresh citrus and the 'stew' has enough memory of meat and vegetable to sate hunger. The passengers are few, most of the large ship devoted to the cargo being shipped from Magnimar all the way to Eleder on the far continent of Garund.

Captain Kovack makes it a point of dining with his passengers every fifth day at sea, enough for pleasant conversation and a number of stories about his - and his ancestors - voyages up and down the coast. Navigation around the Eye of Abendego; avoiding the hellknight blockades of Cheliax; gypsy pickpockets in his home port of Magnimar.

The rest of the time, your questions, concerns and requirements are handled by the competant first mate, Mr. Denvers. ("Pleae call me Alton, you a'int crew and we don't need to stand on ceremony.") An affiable man who only seems off-kilter when commanded to do things he has already set in motion.

As for your fellow passengers they are a mixed bunch. The most approachable is Gelik Aberwhinge, a halfling who boarded at Magnimar and has been at sea with the Jenivere for four months. He is easy to find, often penning in a leather-bound book in the common areas, always quick with a quip or a story to amuse.

The other long-term guest of the boat is the Varisian scholar Ieana. Absorbed with her studies, she often forgoes shared meals. The few times she is seen on deck she keeps her heavy cloak pulled tight against the sea wind, but looks to the south and the end of the long journey.

Just before the Shackles, Sasha joined the boat. The somber mood she boarded with mellowed after the first few days at sea and she seems optimistic about her future in Eleder. She seems utterly fascinated by the dinosaur that boards in Port Peril, often sneaking down to the upper cargo where Tulip lives.

We can't go without mentioning the additions to the ship from Port Peril. First Aerys Mavato, a dark-haired half elf, has kept primarily to her berth after getting into a knock down drag out fight with a crew member immediately after boarding. Secondly, Zaine Kildare and his companion Tulip. Although the gunslinger keeps to himself mostly, he and Tulip are regulars on the ship's deck daily as the human-sized tyrannosaurus rex takes her daily constitution.

Finally, just days ago, a scruffy Tian man his face aged beyond his years came aboard. Ishirou's quiet demenor keeps him from interacting, but doesn't seem as intentional as Mavato's isolation.

Sense Motive DC 20:
In the last few days before the start of our adventure, you noticed a unease among the crew. Whispers about the course being 'off' but nothing that any of them admit to under direct questioning.

... yet

Once I have the remainder of the passengers, I'll add more On the Jenivere posts. :)

Aloha,

Can someone please look at this order for me? I know I have more than enough store credit to cover the entire thing, but for some reason the system is taking the items from store credit but charging my credit card for the shipping.

I do store credit because I like to control when stuff gets charged, so I don't like this new glitch in the matrix.

Thanks!

I think I remember seeing an ability in Mythic that lets you do energy damage to creatures that are immune to it, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help direct me to it?

Arodus 13, 4713

Kenabres has an air of anticipation and excitement as the city prepares for Armasse. Even the normally overly stoic and suspicious guards at the North and South gates which lead into the ring section of the city can be caught smiling and joking with known mercenaries and crusaders, although even at such a time those who try to enter the city veiled, hooded or suspiciously still draw the attention and intense regard. Off in the distance you can feel more than hear the subharmonics of the great pumps which feed water into the city.

To the west, across the expanse of the Sellen River, there is the stark reminder of the dangers which worry the guards even in the build-up to Mendev's greatest holiday. The land on the far side of the river is broken into sharp peaks and valleys. The sky in the distance shifts wildly from blistering heat to storms filled with lightning and more than a hint of abyssal energy. In this walled and tiered city there is safety - the Kite which houses Kenbres's wardstone rises high above the oldest section of the city - but the Worldwound and the demonic horde is never trully that far away.

Everyone who enters the city is thoroughly questioned about their reasons for entering. While no one specifically points it out, heavily armored and armed people are never far away.

Those of you who do not antagonize the guards and appear to be standard humanoids are able to get into the city without too much of a problem. Those who made a impression on either the guards or one of the nearby warriors would have been given directions to an inn in the heart of the Ring Section - the Defender's Heart. Feel free to ask any questions about the city either in character or on the discussion board.

The Dreamer Lost In Twilight's Embrace:
Your charcter would get a much more serious questioning on entering the city. It is up to you if that is where you want to start.

Konstantin Argentaev:
As you are being questioned by the guards, you would have noticed a tall woman. At first she only stood out because while most of the non-merchants have heavy armor, she wears only simple grey-blue leathers yet carries herself like a warrior.

The fact that she stops, turns and watches your interaction with the gate guards is more suspicious. She is middle-aged, her gray-silver hair cut short, and those who were being kind would describe her as handsome.

So I just got the email where my subscription order was 'fixed' and my shipping increased by $10.40 *and* it is now being sent in 5 packages instead of 2. (And frankly, what I ordered would have normally come in 1 package based on previous shipments before your system was upgraded.)

Can you please check my order and see if you can fix it back to what you sent me on January 8th?

Any chance you guys are considering going back to the system that you used back in 2013?

Hi everyone!

If you can let everyone know what race/character class you would like/are planning to play for Wrath of the Righteous, I'd appreciate it.

Very Broad Creation Rules (which are unlikely to change but may be added to):

  • 25-pt build
  • starting level: 1
  • Any core race or any of the demi-humans (tiefling, aasimar, etc) - Other races may be ok'd
  • Alignment: One of the big themes is the redemption of evil. As such I may allow an evil PC but only if the player has the intention of his character working towards redemption. In general, good-aligned or at least good-leaning would be preferred.
  • Two traits which you can choose freely from any non-AP source. There are Wrath of the Righteous campaign traits, but I'd like to suggest them based on your characters background. The campaign trait would be in addition to the two traits you choose.
  • Wrath starts in a city called Kenabres on the border between Mendev and the Worldwound. Your character does not have to be from this region, but I would like to figure out what drew you to such a dangerous and crusade-filled city.
  • Beyond your background, I'd like to know if you have any goals for your character. These can be either goals your character has, or goals the player has for the character that the character knows nothing about.
  • Hit Points - max at first level and average on following
  • starting wealth = average for your class

Allowed sources - any Pathfinder source published by Paizo (if there is a mechanic that you like but dislike the lore attached, please let me know, and I'll see if there is another way to make it work). I am very happy to look at any non-Paizo Pathfinder material that you are interested in. Since we will be going Mythic, I would recommend looking at Legendary Games expansion on mythic. (Sadly I only have a few things since they haven't released the pdfs from the KS.)

Hi guys,

I picked up the Sorcerer Class Deck to push myself just above $100 to take advantage of the First-10 shipping. My subscription order just got processed - but sans the class deck (and thus no discount on shipping).

Thanks for the help :)

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Hi guys and gals,

I know that you're dealing with the changes from the Character Add-On Deck needing to be pushed to September, but I've got a related problem.

Back on August 4th, I got my order email - which had a total (with shipping) of $202.07.

As expected by store credit dropped (on 8/4) from $305.15 to $103.08 (which was going to be almost enough to cover my Sept subscription). When the changes happened I jotted down my current balance just in case of a post like this one.

Just got my shipping notice (as expects sans the add-on deck and promos) and went into my account to see if the value of the character add-on (plus possible shipping) had gotten added back in.

Instead, I now have NO store credit. Which I think means the system charged me double for August.

And well may have charged my credit card since I didn't have enough credit to cover the August charges twice.

Can someone please look into this?

Umm - just checking. I got my normal 'this is pending' email last week - but I haven't gotten my shipping email (or access to the pdfs) but my Paizo credit balance dropped (when I got the pending email). Does my order need a poke?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Something odd seems to have happened, but I'm not sure if it is normal and I'm normally just asleep for this stage.

The items in this month's subscriptions disappeared off of my "My Subscriptions" page completely. No summary at the top with the 'pending' like there has been since it was purchased/authorized on the 14th. But weirder they have vanished from the individual product line summaries below.

And this may be just be my own worry, but I've never seen this before with my subscriptions.

Just an evening chat - Gozran 16, 4713

The merchant caravan organized and owned by Silas Gribb sets out of Cassomir on Gozran 14th 4713. The first two days of travel are lazy as the small caravan travels on the well-used roads surrounding the huge city. As the caravan settle down for the evening, the green stretch of a forest can be seen in the distance. Silas, his smooth voice confident, stands up once everyone has their evening meal. "Tomorrow we reach the Verduran Forest so I need all of you to be prepared. We'll be traveling on the Verduran Highway and on such a well-used passage we probably only need to be worried about looking like a juicy target for bandits."

He smiles, only a little of the snake-oil charm coming through now that he has you on 'his' team. "But the forest has dangers. Ettercaps, fey, river pirates and even dragons." He shrugs at the last, "I've never seen one, but supposedly it is true."

He takes a bite of his own bowl of stew. "So what I'm saying, if you think your in over your head, Cassomir is only a few days walk back." Just the glint of steel in his shewd eyes, "If you can give me back your advance pay, of course." He makes this almost sound like a joke, almost.

"Any questions?"

This is a discussion board for Dragon's Demand pbp so that you guys can figure out your characters and backgrounds.

    Quick mechanics overview:
  • 25-pt buy
  • Race: any 0 HD
  • Traits: any 2
  • starting level: 1
  • starting wealth: per class
  • Books allowed: any

Mechanically I'm trying something new to see if it works. Feel free to take mechanics from any Pathfinder book (Paizo or third party). Or feel free to come up with stuff on your own. Either way please run it by me first - I'm all good with my players being powerful, but I'd prefer not having one player outshine the others.

Story background: The majority of the story will take place in a small village in the boondocks of Taldor. All of you were hired as guards in the city of Cassomir by a trader named Silas Gribb to protect his caravan on the way to Yanmass. Hijinks ensue.

For player knowledge but not really character knowledge:
  • The end goal of the adventure is fighting a dragon.
  • Befriending or greatly antagonizing NPCs will be of benefit for your character - both in the form of in game assistance and mechanical boon. I suggest a characters that will have a desire to interact with other and the world. But it is not required.

Please ask questions and I'll answer to the best of my ability. :)

I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious, but I have a question about a person's turn.

1. Advance Blessing Deck
2. Give a Card
3. Move
4. Explore

OK - Do you get a 'free' exploration on your turn or do all explorations need to be paid for with a blessings/ally (or some other card)?

Can we get the Shattered Star and Realm of Winter APs listed in the section titled: '#61–66: Shattered Star' and '#67-72: Realm of Winter' respectively.

Right now they only place they are is in the 'Sanctioned APs' - which since I don't play Society games was collapsed. I do like that the Rise of the Runelords is listed in both places.

Please?

I know there is the Tuesday Update thread - I can even read it when I'm not signed in.

I'm having the same problem that 'B.A. Harpy Phipps' reported on that thread. Interestingly, I can view newly created threads, just not the old ones. (When I'm logged in, when I'm not logged is I can access everything...)

Sorry for the repeat thread, but I since I couldn't post in the Tuesday Update thread I couldn't report the problem there.

I know this subject came up in 2009 and before, but from what I can find, it came down to the problem that the core rule book seemed to contradict itself. So if someone can direct me to where it is more clearly decided, I would be very happy.

Situation: Serina the Sorcerer gets successfully grappled by a Fred the Fighter. Serina still has one hand free. She wants to cast a spell. Either way she knows she needs to make a concentration check but is confident in her ability. The spell she wants to cast has a somatic component.

Now if Serina were pinned she knows she would be out of luck but in a grapple she isn't sure because in the grapple explanation in the combat section of the book, she knows that casting the spell only requires one hand - because were she not be grappled but carrying a dagger she would be fine.

Combat/If you are Grappled wrote:
If You Are Grappled: If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent's CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent's CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that doesn't require two hands to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack or full attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details. If you are pinned, your actions are very limited. See the pinned condition in Conditions for additional details.

Further more the description of the grappled condition in glossary means she is good:

Glossary/Grapple wrote:

Grappled: A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.

A grappled creature cannot use Stealth to hide from the creature grappling it, even if a special ability, such as hide in plain sight, would normally allow it to do so. If a grappled creature becomes invisible, through a spell or other ability, it gains a +2 circumstance bonus on its CMD to avoid being grappled, but receives no other benefit.

But wait - she turns to the magic section to check her DC and finds:

Magic/Concentration wrote:
Grappling or Pinned: The only spells you can cast while grappling or pinned are those without somatic components and whose material components (if any) you have in hand. Even so, you must make a concentration check (DC 10 + the grappler's CMB + the level of the spell you're casting) or lose the spell.

So can Serina cast? (For the purpose of this example we will say invisibility.)

And seriously if someone can point me to where this was hashed out I'd would be very grateful.

Pharast 21, 4712 - Westcrown

The rising sun burns away the early morning sea fog whose tendrils wind through the alleys of Westcrown. The celebration of the vernal equinox the day before may mean that spring has come to Cheliax, but the bite of cold in the brine-laden air blowing in from the ocean hints of the past winter. But in all things it is just another day. The early signs of spring, flowers fighting there way up from cracks in the stones, do not raise the spirits of Westcrown's people. The dark of the night shadows the day and the promise of glory was lost long ago. If there are changes in the days ahead, no signs will herald them.

Gravalax d'Antonio:
Just another day, moving through the food traffic on the way to the courts. Another day of seeing hell's law imposed on Westcrown. She falls into step beside you easily a smile playing over red lips when you notice her. Her voice low, she leans in so that only you can hear in amid the busy street. "I hear that you like the night..." Her nimble fingers play with a flower in her hands, a lily of the valley. "My name is Janiven and I think we could help each other."

Cassian Merro and Rygel:
Another day, another dive. The food cheap but, ever since it earned her a smile, with an extra kick of spice. Rygel, balanced carefully on your shoulder, keeps an eye on the group of dock workers betting on the dice throws in the back. The woman doesn't quite fit in when she comes in the door, her clothing just a little to nice for Rego Crua. She glances around the dingy interior of the shop her eyes passing over Cassian for a moment and then returning, a keen intensity clear in the almost emerald eyes. She is here looking for you.

She moves with a assurance born of hard-won skill and tempered by time completely at odds with the hint of nervousness in her eyes when she gets to your table. She inclines her head in greeting, but her eyes don't drop, too aware of the potential dangers around her. "Greetings, Cassian. I'm Janiven and," a small smile that puckers the light, old scar on her right cheek, "we have a job you may be interested in."

Melilot Took:
It's early afternoon when you hear the blacksmith talking to the raven-haired woman. There is a flash of gold proffered with a smile and the master of the forge takes himself off. There is a pub a few blocks over and such a windfall must be celebrated. As he disappears from view the woman walks back to the forge area. There is a pause as she sees Meliot's waif thin form behind the anvil. Her voice, moments later, still has the hints of surprise in it, "I was expecting someone..." she shrugs, "more, I think." She shakes her head apologetically, "Sorry... I think from the stories I've heard, I was expecting..." She clears her throat, embarrassment tinging her cheeks. "Sorry, Melilot. My name is Janiven and I know of a way for you to find out what really happens in Westcrown..."

"If you are interested."

Azhar Mithra Amin and Rev Keaton Amin:
There is a knock on the door, should one of you open the door you find a dark-haired, emerld-eyed woman standing there. With a smile she nods, "Hello, my name is Janiven. May I come in?"

Hi all!

As I said in the email, I'm planning on running Council of Thieves. You can find the player's guide which has some background HERE.

I'm planning on using Kyrademon's flex time and fog of war rules which can be found here.

The basics for character creation are:
1) 25 point buy
2) Any core content (Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's guide, Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat)
3) Any other Pathfinder material on a run it by the gm first basis.
4) Available races: Any of the ones in the Core Rulebook (and I am allowing variant racial traits) and any of the planetouched (tiefling, aasimar, etc). If you are interested in playing any of the unusual 0 HD races, let me know.
5) Two starting traits: one which should be selected from the traits in the CoT player's guide.
6) Starting at 2nd level.

If you have any question, concerns, or ranting you can email me or post.

If you have a character you want to play, please do a quick post with race and class so that you don't stomp on the dreams of the other players.

Having arrived safely in Lepidstadt, the Crooked Kin set up their side show near the western gate. Rising on the hill behind them, the Spiral Cromlech looms over the small carnival. In response to something unheard by one of the kin Kaleb Hesse speaks his clear baritone carrying, "Sure we could have made more if we set up near the courthouse." A sardonic smile, well-versed in the cruelties of his homeland, "And we would have been right on hand when a townie decided that they should burn a few more freaks along with the Beast."

Clearly speaking to one of the clowns, "This way Trollblood and Lidia," motioning in the direction of the enormous Ulfen, "Will be able to keep a better eye on custom. And hopeful we'll get out of here with our skin intact." He chuckles, "After all, we did promise Ms. Parker she could travel with us and Mag has her connections out for a wagon for the pretty miss so we can't exactly slip away in the night like we did in Karcau."

Place marker for ooc discussion.

And so that I can get the gameplay thread up and running.

My players met (and loved) the Crooked Kin. Has anyone used them in the continuing Carrion Crown AP? I would love some advise of what to do with them. (I am playing Jade Regent, but so is one of my players ~ she hates the caravan rules, so while I may have them as a guideline as to what is possible with a caravan I probably won't be going the full caravan stats route.)

So far our oracle has asked if Trollblood can be her cohort meatshield if she takes Leadership. (I was going to go barbarian with him for her... but after a discussion with a friend of mine, ragechemist has good fit for him.)

I was looking at an encounter that has a tiny character and I think his AC is wrong. He is wearing a +2 chain shirt, since he is tiny the armor's armor bonus is supposed to be halved (per chart 6-8 on pg 153 of core) which makes is AC 2 points lower.

Encounter details:
The encounter is with Balimar, the soulbound doll summoner. The AC in the block is 25, touch 16, flat-footed 21 (+6 armor, +4 Dex, +1 natural, +2 shield, +2 size). He is wearing +2 chain shirt, chain shirt for a tiny creature should only be 2, giving the armor a bonus of +4 in total, not +6.

Thoughts?

First, thank you very much for the PRD. I use it all the time when running game and it is a lifesaver.

There is one feature that would make it more DM-friendly when running game ~ if we could have a few compiled indexes in addition to them listed under the books that they were released in.

For example, a monster index that has the monsters from both bestiaries or a spell index that lists the spells from Core, APG, and UM.

Since I use HeroLab to prep my encounters, I don't always remember which book my spell/monster is from....

I was looking over the Garipan (new monster) and I was wondering if it was supposed to have Lightning Reflex instead of Great Fortitude?

The saves listed in the stat block are Fort +13, Ref +8, Will +11 these would be correct if the Garipan had Lightning Reflexes and if it had a good fort and will progression.

However, assuming that this outsider has a good Fort, poor Ref, good Will; the stat block with Great Fortitude (feat listed in stat block) should be Fort +15, Ref +6, Will +11.

If the Garipan has the normal outsider poor Fort, good Ref, poor Will and Great Fortitude then the stat block should be Fort +10, Ref +11, Will +11.

So should I change the feat or the saves?

However, what is with the lack of gnome NPCs? None in the Rival Guide and there weren't any in the NPC Guide either.

I always thought that you could feint at range.

~
Feint

Feinting is a standard action. To feint, make a Bluff skill check. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + your opponent's base attack bonus + your opponent's Wisdom modifier. If your opponent is trained in Sense Motive, the DC is instead equal to 10 + your opponent's Sense Motive bonus, if higher. If successful, the next melee attack you make against the target does not allow him to use his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). This attack must be made on or before your next turn.

When feinting against a nonhumanoid you take a –4 penalty. Against a creature of animal Intelligence (1 or 2), you take a –8 penalty. Against a creature lacking an Intelligence score, it's impossible. Feinting in combat does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Feinting as a Move Action: With the Improved Feint feat, you can attempt a feint as a move action.

But I saw that Fighter (Archer) has feint as one of the ranged combat maneuvers that they can select. Does this mean that you can't normally feint at range or that by taking that option the archer can feint as a move action (or as part of an attack action)?

I did a messageboard search, but the wording for spell is not explicit, so I figure I would ask. Or at least not clear enough, given that I have players who can see it being valid either way.

For spells that are shapable [(s) following the area description of the spell] - do the areas affected need to be contiguous?

Firestorm
Reverse Gravity

And from the prd -
(S) Shapeable: If an area or effect entry ends with “(S),” you can shape the spell. A shaped effect or area can have no dimension smaller than 10 feet. Many effects or areas are given as cubes to make it easy to model irregular shapes. Three-dimensional volumes are most often needed to define aerial or underwater effects and areas.

Hi all,

I know that there are a few modules that can be run as a mini-AP, but my messageboard search-fu is weak this morning.

I'm planning on running a game (or hopefully more) for my SO's nephew. Don't really want to do something as long as a AP, but I figured that if I start with one of the modules that connects to the other modules then if he likes his character we can continue on in that vein.

Oh, what point-buy do the APs and modules assume?

Thanks much.

What is the monster on page 190 of the Gamemastery Guide?

Not quite a rules question, so I understand if this gets moved.

Relatively recently I remember reading a feat that let you call out to the spirits of your ancestors, which prevented your enemies from dying in combat.

Does anyone remember what this feat was called and what book it was in?

Okay, if gold dragon wyrmling is targeted by a baleful polymorph and fails the fort save and makes the will save, what statistics would the 1HD flying squirrel have?
