Just throwing this out there the thing that always gets me in trouble is chasing treasure goblin cause i always ignore rest of mobs until its dead then i have a million mobs including elites on me (i am a whirlwind barb but those amounts of mobs have still taken me down)

oh and player wants to be a elf druid that shoots bows off the back of a dragon

let me start by saying i wasnt sure which forum this belonged in so i went with both (its for a homebrew game but i need some serious advice lol)

so my sister came up to me and said you play that pathfinders stuff right?
to which i replied why yes i do but out of players right now
she said i have a idea for a game that i would like to try
i asked what it was and this is what she said

there are three monsters fighting an ancient battle to be the (best?)

the Dragons, Masters of the air and sky

the Leviathans, Masters of the sea and water

and finally

the Bohemeths, Masters of the earth

now they are all but extinct so they have humans fighting thier battles for them

so human (a) bob wants to worship dragons so he goes up on the mountains (closest he could get to being in the air) he builds a temple up there to the dragons

human (b) steve wants to worship leviathans so he goes down to the coast (closest thing he could get to being in the water) he builds a temple there to the leviathans

human (c) frank wants to worship Bohemeths so he goes to the plains or desert or caves (not sure on this one) he builds a temple there to the Bohemeths

Simple so far

if humans a b or c see each other they fight it out in the name of thier gods ( as humans always do)

now the problem is there is no stats for leviathans or bohemeths in pathfinders (bohemoths are giant earth titan things)

now i was thinking if you can earn enough favor with your particular gods they grant you a paragon of thier faith

dragons grant you a dragon familiar that will grant you perception bonuses or something

leviathans grant you a eel sized leviathan familiar that will grant you the breath under water ability

bohemoths grant you a dwarf sized bohemoth that will grant you a str bonus

each familar will grow large enough for the pcs to ride eventually
as they grow the bonuses they grant will become greater and greater

lol pepsi and the new dragon baby is named pepsi! that would be best bbeg ever

FEAR ME MORTALS FOR I AM THE GREAT AND POWERFUL pepsi lol

so necro with

139 your strange uncle who you see rarely and only during the new moon left you a letter describing your new condition...

2 people marked this as a favorite.

so how did this turn out...

dotting for interest ...every campaign needs some crazy people

Goblin melee paladin with str as main stat

Why? Just cause A)goblin B)paladin and C)you so short if you fall won't be a long trip lol

Completely third party here can you do the dirge bard lol I love bards more than other casters

Dunno why lol

I like the trickster klepto feel of the leprechauns but I also like the movie version of the leprechauns (steal his gold and he kills you)

Neither one of them seem to fit the 'royalty' feel

the link you linked being the trickster one says they live solitary or at most a family of 7-10

that's why I say they don't feel like royalty

but however it is your char you know what you want lol

I think bard would work well as well

You could always go for the arcane trickster path

Necro for ninja turtles lol

4 people marked this as a favorite.

May be downgrade but how many times do you get to be your own dad and a dragon demigod?

Dotting for curiosity of how this plays out...

Neither did I lol been fun trying to figure out whAt kinda campaign to make for her probably just go with a smash em up for a bit

K wanna make a kitsune bard with the idea of I wanna steal (pick pocket) and use diplomacy to suggest they sign the deed to their house to me lol

So I want a high cha dex based bard

If I can get the nine tails be cool and I'm thinking of using realistic likeness kitsune thing too so if anyone had build ideas and feat ideas that would be greAt

Dunno what for combat probably crowd control

Archetype ideas helpful too

Thanks in advance

Ride in shirt pocket of tank complain after fight of him bouncing around too much ...

You: can you not jolt and move to much I'm still in here
Fighter: the great dragon of unholy doom the size of Texas sent me flying to my death off a giant mountain... sure I'll not bounce around as Much

You: thanks thats all I ask

im hopin to make it just about even if not slightly better than the base class hoping to use this class in other games so if we need to buff this archtype up more than im all for it

Last question is I don't change feats they still get all of them?

And can you think of any giant slayer specific feats (already made or not)

I dunno look the two things people said from the thread light (easy cheap then don't have to worry bout torches)

And someone said divine guidance through blade(blade is intelligent not quite divine but no one needs to know that right away)

So was wondering if light and magic 8 ball sword at lvl 1 or 2 (when ever it stops being rusty and starts to "wake up") was too powerful

Exactly and I want them to be able to wield a large one handed as a large one handed or a large two handed as well you can guess lol and I agree on larger category than your self specially since this is gonna be rolled for a gripplis first

Question what lol do I add light and augmented?

That works think that's all we need to change for good giant slayer?

So know I been posting a lot lately lol but I don't like the the current titan mauler archetype for barbs

In my mind I think fighter would work better (more of a tactical way they learned to kill the bigger buddies)

So things wanted on it is.
A can actually wield weapons of a larger category (read bunch of titan mauler threads that said it doesn't work like that but I thought they had a power lvl 3 I thinkin was)

Extra damage against bigger creatures

And other goodies
But no rare seeing as it will be fighter not barb

Is this too ridiculous of an idea?
Can anyone advice on what to add (as most of you guess for a one on one campaign so not worried about being too broken)

Didn't know about cleric archetypes (few games I play healers in non are this one lol)

I just figured bards are awesome buffers if done right clerics healing so healing and buffs be good lol

Guess strait bard could do it ... they tend to do everything else lol

And then anyone got some good suggestions for non gestalt bard/cleric build

So I'm not to good at these gestalt chars

I get the basics though and would think bard/cleric would be best combo making ultimate support char and can rp it as a preacher man

One of those evangelist people who are loud and heal people

What sure general thoughts and proposed build

Static cling.

And she pops all the balloons the little kids in the kingdom has and becomes evil

Logic being static draws balloons to sharp sword blade and then pop

She's already gave some input this morning likes the crystal look green glow wants it to do lightning damage

Oh and now a titan mauler so will be a two handed sword (she's a small char though)

Well got race class and semi sword figured out now I can start with campaign she wants to be gripplis titan mauler weapon will be a rusty two handed sword eventually be a crystal green glowing lightning blade (her choice lol)

Then dragon wants pcs to cook the sheep med rare when pcs bring dragon perfectly cooked med rare steak and sheep the dragon complains about undercooked saying they are trying to poison him with raw food he uses breath on it which turns it to a crisp and them explains that's how you cook med rare steak

I think barb goes solo ...

Dragon could and should be grateful for freeing him could become helpful ally...

Pcs get quest from dragon to obtain dinner for it (couple hundred sheep and cows should do) the you laugh as pcs either buy them or steal them or laugh harder when the pcs explain to the farmer that they need to "borrow" their sheep

I was planning on getting some sample builds from her then finding out what kind of weapon sounds cool

Don't want to overwhelm her with make a char and all the confusing rules of making weapon and what not

I think the barbarian gets at least 7 years bad luck

lemeres wrote:

Yeah, at what level does it become a +5 BLING blade?

Or more honestly: can you imagine the progression of this sword? Is it something like this-
1-5- Rusty->
6-10-Plain->
11-15-well made with fine engravings (may or may not glow)->
16-20- gaudied out with gold and diamonds and glitters like a 5 year old's art project (tasteful alternative: Crystal. Just make the blade look like it was practically glass, with glowing runes as decoration)

One interesting thing you can do with the first transition would be to have the blade lose its rust after it was coated in the blood of some power monster. Having it just happen suddenly could be a nice little surprise, and it can get the player excited for an encore.

Maybe make all the upgrades like this. It gives a nice benchmark for where you want the character to power up at ("When he can beat a CR X monster, he gets X upgrade"), and gives the character a better sense of fullfillment than if it was level based (since they might have accidentally leveled on a 1 armed blind goblin that gives 1 xp and just happened to steal his lunch).

Now, whether to make the monsters themselves particularly important, or whether just to have the sword eat mythical beasts is an important issue. While the 'defeat the 4 demon lords that threaten the land' is a common RPG plot....well.... it is just that the level difference between demon lords gets noticable. Why did the CR 20 Lord of Air team up with this CR 5 lord of earth? The air lord's lowest minion could wipe that guy out. I knwo they could be powering up during the campaign by breaking seals or eating angel babies (whatever)...still, it can be jarring.

*hides the 5 yr old looking concept art* i wasnt thinking that at all lol but i do like the crystal sword idea definately glow and still gotta design campaign so big bad bloody dude a definite possibility

most likely lvl 20 mythic 10 i dont know what epic is but maybe lol i know she is considering paladin (wants to heal and fight ((which is important seeing as she is only one lol)))

so i wanna design a legendary/intelligent/scaling weapon for a game with just one player gonna start out as a "rusty sword"

in the begining rusty sword will use the stats for
LONGSWORD
Price 15 gp
Type martial
This sword is about 3-1/2 feet in length.

it will be a very powerful thing by lvl and then mythic later

need a good backstory and weapon progression (pc lvl 1 probably will just be a simple rusty sword)

as the pc lvls they can "unlock" secrets about the weapon and learn about its origin and what not

\if anyone can help that would be great

i can just see some of my players "taming" and riding ants lol

if the pcs are small and everything is big how does that work with any combat that comes up (mouse or beetle or whatever) doesnt that make them useless?

It might have been mentioned in one of the other threads I linked. :)

mighta actually been in the tournament link i think not to sure though

my group is pretty laid back liking the story more than most things so i think they would be cool with this too

EDIT: Partially ninja'd by Thanael! Still leaving my post, because I had other stuff here, too! :D

Hm... don't see a mention of "Legacy Items" in this thread, but I do know one place where "Legacy Items" come from: an old 3.5 D&D Supplement called, appropriately enough, Weapons of Legacy.

In this supplement, items are bonded to individuals and gain greater power over time and via rituals.

Now, in Pathfinder, there is something called legendary items, which are a party of the mythic rules.

It would be easy enough (in my opinion) to give her a single magical item of your choice, and make it a "legendary item", regardless of whether or not she is mythic. It allows her some nice choice of power.

In general, to give you a sense of scale and number of powers a legendary item could have, a character cannot have more mythic tiers than half their level, thus, in this variant, according to the ability, she'd gain special powers for her item at first tier (or first or second level), at third tier (at sixth level), and at sixth tier (or twelfth level).

If you're interested in heirloom items:
- Do a search here for "heirloom" (Ctrl+F)
- Heirloom Weapon trait
- Harrow Deck heirloom by trait

cant remember where i saw it i thought this was the thread but also thought it was legacy mighta been legendary im not sure lol

Thanael wrote:
You can also let her discover magical abilities successively i.e. Find out a command word and boom +1 sword is a flaming sword too! An intelligent weapon might be a good dmpc/companion/foil. Let her discover it's powers slowly, can have provide some knowledge /pointers etc.

thats probably what ill do have her find a rusty sword in the back of a house where the previous owner couldnt figure out what the power was ( he knew that was one through checks ((not that that matters much lol)))

after using it and it being slightly more powerful that it is suppose to be

(or )

a wizard or fighter sees her and is like (name of weapon) has been found by a worthy/unworthy (depending on situation) weilder

then she can discover parts of it at a time until it finally becomes a +5 flameburst what ever

the idea popped in my head this morning was wondering how hard would it be to run a "i got shrunk now must get big" campaign

or the classic "i got shrunk by X but miniture race Y needs help so i will help them then get bigger when i am done helping"

any ideas on making this possible or if anyone has ran this and has any advice or ideas feel free to post lol

thanks for all the help everyone if anyone has any more ideas or tips or advice or what ever feel free to post

cant find anything about legacy items but seen them on the forum quiet often can anyone clarify
