Map of Horrors!
Haha, I would be pretty surprised by Ungebrochen's apparition!
Narcizia, Seara, Tyrithe, Volco:
There is a small bag which has rolled under the boiler. It appears to have burst open and it's contents are strewn about under their: smallish spherical objects, about 15 of them. Knowledge (planes, arcana, or dungeoneering) DC15:
These are extremely rare planar creatures called "Zoogs". Spiteful, nasty creatures with a taste for the flesh of sentient beings, zoogs lurk in the shadowy, moldering places of the world. Often mistaken merely for otherworldly animals, zoogs possess base intentions and vicious demeanors that set them apart from lowly beasts. Knowledge (planes, arcana, or dungeoneering) DC20:
Otherworldly Touch (Ex) A zoog's natural attacks can strike incorporeal creatures as if they were ghost touch weapons. Spoiler: Winnova: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Volreg: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Tyrithe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 Narcizia: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Volco: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Ungebrochen : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Seara: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Alright! To the boiler room!
A left...a right...right...down...right...left, and you find yourself outside of a large door marked "Boiler Room". perception at the door DC15:
You hear scuttling, perhaps of some small rodents, beyond the door. if you open the door: You step into the dark room. A shaft of light floods the area from a small window at the far end. The light is colored a sickly yellow, by the fog outside. Mighty iron boilers crowd here, their pipes piercing the walls and ceiling. Shadows and rust fill the narrow gaps between the cold tanks...More perception checks please!

Your characters can explore the chapel too. These spoilers should flesh out your environment a bit... questions Winter can answer in RP!:
Where are we? What Asylum?? Who are you?/Why are you here? Who are we?/Why are we here? Why don’t you leave? Who is in charge of the asylum? Why are there monsters in the asylum? What do you know about nightmares in the asylum? What is this "eye" Adria keeps talking about? Meet some of the people taking refuge here:
Names, if any of them sound interesting! Surely they would be happy to talk to you! Airwynn Savoia (CG female human Kellid survivor) Baisily Harbour (LN female human Varisian survivor) Bates Yopchick (LN male human Varisian survivor) Brenton Lieklan (N male human Varisian survivor) DaNae Foulkes (LG female human Varisian chapel guard) Denman Winoparess (CN male human Varisian) Loic Ulsohnen (N male human Varisian survivor) Maeve Kostenbau (CN female human Kellid survivor) Mura Yopchick (N female human Varisian chapel guard) Naysa Walika (NG female human Varisian chapel guard) Tolman Leolies (LG male human Garundi chapel guard) Vaustin York (LG male human Varisian chapel guard) captain Vaustin (CR1 Human Fighter) look at the altar:
It's made of more than a ton of black-and-white granite. You sense holy protection coming from it. Must be something holy underneath it, though moving the massive altar appears impossible. check out the small alcove on the west side of the chapel:
Although this chapel is devoted to Pharasma, a small shrine to Desna appears here. You can tell there is magic emenating from this spot too, spreading throughout the chapel. search for treasure in the chapel:
In general, these items are available whenever your party returns to the chapel... -Candles
(once you find it) look more closely at the Shrine to Desna: The shrine of Desna is fragile, its focus being a delicate, 2-foot-tall porcelain statue of the butterfly-winged goddess, posed in a dance amid silks and stars.

Ungebrochen soon has the fires roaring. If only he had a wild boar, you would all feast like dwarven kings!
Map of Horrors!
Finally, there is a dark haired women, sitting in a makeshift armchair up near the "pulpit" She's on the map. Adria bows to her and says...
Map of Horrors!
You are led into the chapel, through it's oaken double doors. Welcome to... The Refuge of Dreamers Looking around the chapel you see about 20 people, mostly hospital patients, and a few chapel guards. All of them refugees of the horrors. There is a lightly armored man with a Mace strapped to his hip. Adria says...

Tyrithe wrote: What does the footprint look like? Great question! In the dark yellow mist, the foot looked like this. 15ft in diameter. A giant being.
Map of Horrors!
You all high-tale it back into the hospital, slamming the door behind you. Just in time too, for a moment later, a giant grey "leg" appears overhead, and begins descending out of the mist. It lands in the courtyard, lingers a moment, then lifts again, disappearing into the fog. It leaves a crater sized footprint, at least 15ft wide, and as the creature moves away it can be heard making strange noises... Aloooo! Alooooooo! bonus points if you get the literary ref;) This call is answered by similar calls from farther out in the abyss of yellow fog. The two men in the bushes are now motioning for you to hurry across the courtyard and enter the chapel...
Map of Horrors!
But it's too late. Off to the left, up in the fog about 30 ft, is a "groaning" sound, like a mighty tree being bent in the wind. And in the yellow fog, a massive shape begins to emerge...
Map of Horrors!
Seara and Adria open the door and step out into the yellow mist. The men in the bushes draw their bows. Then one recognizes Adria...
Map of Horrors!
haha, nasty dilemaa: run toward the armed bowmen in order to minimize mist exposure? Or walk in order to avoid getting shot by nervous guards! They don't call me COSMIC HORROR for nothing!
Map of Horrors!
Normally you would view her words as ramblings of in insane girl. You wonder what it means about your own sanity since you understand her ramblings perfectly! Eventually you come to a door leading to a square courtyard, surrounded on all sides by the hospital. Peering through the glass in the door you see:
-a garden -Yellow mist -A small, free standing chapel building, in the center of the courtyard, built in the Pharasmic style. perception DC14:
In shrubs by the front entrance to the small chapel, you see humanoid shapes. perception DC17: The humanoid shapes seem UN-monsterous. They are men, who look fairly frightened. They hold bows an peer nervously around at the mist. The appear to be standing guard.
Map of Horrors!
No worries. My post rate's slowed down a bit too cause I'm doing youtube videos for my kids on how to meditate, haha! Just want them to be happy, you know...
Map of Horrors!
Seara kicks clear of the tentacles, aided by Voclo. Then Undy steps in and strikes the beaked monster, followed by Tyrithe's arrow and Narcizia's flying dagger. That deals the death blow! The tentacles cease their writhing and silence falls in the hallway. END COMBAT
Map of Horrors!
Yes, debris is various sizes from 1/2 lb to about 30 lbs. Mostly pine wood and white brick, and sheet-rocky dust.
Map of Horrors!
What? No one knows who's turn it is?? I'm so sorry I didn't explain! If your name has the --> next to it, then actions are needed from you.
Map of Horrors!
Winnova's holy water splashes all over the beak-like monster. It howls in pain! Ungebrochen hacks at the entrails as best he can but it's hard to get a clean shot in without cutting Seara's leg off! Seara continues to kick, but to no avail. Volreg's colored stone flies down the hall, trailed by a streams of magical purple and green light...if only it had hit the target! And it's too bad it didn't, for the monster continues to drag Seara even closer...
--------------
Map of Horrors!
Volco's fire splashes on the beak-mouthed intestine monster, and Tyrithe's arrow hits it's mark. But Seara can't break free of the slippery wet intestine-ropes. Kind of curious to see what Volreg's floating stone is gonna do!?
Map of Horrors!
Okay, Monster's turn!
GM Rolls:
Seara ref Save VS intestines: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3 Seara throws the hand to the ground, where Undebrachen and Narcizia make short work of it. But in the mean time, the writhing vicera slither closer, until they can reach out...and grabs Seara's feet! You are ENTANLGED. It's DC20 Escape Artist check to break free next turn. From deep in the burst corps' pe'vic area, a beaklike jaw emerges, slobbering and biting. It looks like it's fixing on dragging Seara toward this beak with it's "intest-anticles" I made that word up:) --------------

GM Rolls:
hand: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Hit! squeeze damage: 1d1 ⇒ 1 plus grab: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 Gottcha! Narcizia AoO VS burning hand: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Hit! 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
The first hand is small, and both Seara and Narcizia have trouble hitting. This hand successfully crawls up Seara's leg, and latches on to her shoulder! 1pt of damage, and it's Grabbed you! The other hand gets fire bombed by Volco. You fancy you can hear a squeal as it begins to burn. The burning hand skitters backward in fright, away from the fire and steel, trying to hide next to the writhing "tentacluar" guts. But it takes an AoO swing from Narcizia followed by an arrow from Tyrithe, and dies miserably. The guts begin to reach out, spreading over the squares between you. You are not sure how far they can crawl... MAP UPDATED. --------------
Map of Horrors!
Tyrithe's arrow lands in the BEHEADED's forehead, ripping said head off at the neck, under the force. For a moment there is silence. Then the creatures GUTS burst out of the gaping neck-hole! The guts rip the body apart, releasing the undead hands, which now begin to move toward you on spidery fingers. Writhing like tentacles, the guts snap and whip about. It does not look like they can move away from the burst corpse, but they are completely blocking the hallway. Gross! Ladies and gents: Meet a new haunt: The Imprisoned Visera, Haha! Haha, I had a jaw drop initially too when Tyrith hit my s&xy horror-doctor with a +10 shot! That high attack bonus is coming entirely from Bullseye shot, which has a ton of pre-reqs, so it's probably true Bullseye shot is a naughty feat to give a first level character for free in an archtype... BUT it's a fair archtype and we are 15 pt buy with no stat below 10, so I don't see any game balance issues. Also, Tyrithe is doomed to doing nothing but shooting arrows for the whole game unless he multi-classes, so I think it's fine. Might as well shoot them well! I don't have Weapons Master Guide book. Seara, are there any offsetting STAT restrictions on the archtype in the actual book that the PFSRD misses? Or does it look like Bullseye shot is intended to be offset only by forcing Roleplay restricts, like "thou shalt worship Iomadae?". Roleplay restrictions in exchange for stats is a dangerous direction to take Pathfinder in my opinion. What if our party accidentally reads a secret book that accidentally unleashes a 29th level Armor-Eating aeon on Iomadae, and accidentally kills her???
Map of Horrors!
Okay, trying to figure out how to describe this...MAP UPDATED In the rubble up ahead you see what looks to be a zombie. But he/it is buried waste deep in the rubble. He hisses and his teeth chatter after you, and his fingers try to crawl their way toward you, hindered by the dead weight of the arms they are attached to. It looks very odd. Perception DC11:
Though his HEAD and HANDS seem to be animated, the rest of his body is just dead weight. Weird. Inteligence DC10:
You can see it obviously can't reach you unless you are standing within 5ft of it. You could basically step around it and continue down the hall. Right? Knowledge (dungeoneering or religion) DC12: You know this monster is actually 3 separate undead entities: a BEHEADED, and two CRAWLING HANDS. But they are still attached to a body, one which has not been animated for some reason. You've never heard of this happening before.
Map of Horrors!
You make your way carefully through the asylum halls, guided by Adria the Schitzo-patient. Most rooms seem empty and untouched, but every once in a while you find a room whose furnature are torn to shreds and cubboards broken to pieces. Adria always walks on the opposite side of the hall from such rooms. Eventually you round a corner and find rubble in your path where a wall and portions of the ceiling have collapsed... and a nightmarish horror like none you've ever seen... Give me a bit to get a new map up
Map of Horrors!
Tyrithe searching the hallway:
Tyrithe does a quick search in a few rooms but finds nothing...until he looks out a window in one room: You are on the second floor of a building. You see a garden down below. But that's about all you can see, cause the world out there is completely shrowded in a sick yellowish mist, much like the mist from your dream. Anyone looking out Tyrithe's window...perception DC15: There are shapes, like this, moving in the mist. Creatures mabe? But if they are creatures, they are massive! For they are at least as tall as the window you are peering out of.
Map of Horrors!
Okay! Here's what I have for you today:)
Volco's Heal Check:
Obviously this is mental illness. Some form of schizophrenia is Volco's guess. Volco's pretty sure she's probably suffering from auditory, perhaps even visual hallucinations. Tyrithe's & Winnova's Perception Checks:
There is nothing special about the women other than that she's dirty and could use a bath. There is soil in her tangled hair. Winnova's Sense Motive Check: Winnova does not sense anything sinister about the young women. More than anything the women evokes a compassionate response in Winnova's throat chakra area Yikes, got a little carried away with that description mabe, hehe *shrug*.
Map of Horrors!
Instead of risking climbing the furnace shaft you talk it over and decide to take the steps Seara has found (east). At the top of the steps you find yourself in a long asylum hospital halway (running North-South). To the LEFT (north) you see ward rooms, and a door at the end of the hallway. It looks exactly like this. To te RIGHT (south), more ward rooms, and a window at the end of the hallway. And also...A naked young women cowering and muttering nonsense to herself. It looks exactly like this.
Map of Horrors!
Seara checks the east door, revealing a staircase leading upward.
Volco and Narcizia Perception at the cupboards:
Map of Horrors!
As the last drop drains form the needle into her neck, Narcizia slices the Doctor's arm clean off. Having taken a scalpel and arrow in the chest it's more than she can bear. Screaming in pain and backing away, she is broad-sided by Ungebrochen, his axe sinking deep inter her chest. Her eyes glaze over, and the terrible being falls to the floor. Inspect her body to see if she's really dead:
You observe a final puff of yellow vapor issue from her lungs. After that, she does indeed appear dead. Poor women. What could have transformed a kindly medical doctor into such a monster? treasure:
Okay! Feel free to RP you personal reactions and further get to know eachother. Updates from me 1/3/17 9am pacific. Tomorrow is my last day of vacation :( But I'm going to make the best of it by watching INSIDIOUS all alone tonight and going to bed freaked out. Peace!
Map of Horrors!
Yes, yes! I'm on vacation until the 2nd and really enjoying just basically doing nothing, so that's my excuse. I'll get a post in tonight or tomorrow to get us going again.
Map of Horrors!
Hm, I gotta do some double checks but I don't think she's going to survive that charge...
Map of Horrors!
Haha! Don't worry, it won't be that bad...just sort of nasty to have that size a needle poking yer neck, Blekh!
Map of Horrors!
Well, Christmas vacations have probably started for everyone by now. Have wonderful holidays!
Map of Horrors!
Okay, and then Seara had a readied action that takes effect right meow... Seeing her opportunity, Seara takes a swing with her great sword. by all means, Seara, swing it!
Map of Horrors!
Seara and Volreg prepare to strike, while Winnova tries to get a good angle. Narcizia waits for the bottom of a heart beat, steadying her aim. Tyrith looses another shot, which the monster-doctor takes in the chest! Favored Enemy: nope, she is a monstrous humanoid. That's when Volco tosses a bomb. But the "Doctor" dodges with eerie supernatural speed (her dodge is +4). ref save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Only a small lick of burning liquid singes her coat...
Map of Horrors!
Grrr, I somehow missed a chunk of text when I posted her entry. I edited the post so it makes sense now. Apologies if I've caused confusion.

//edit// The Doctor flings open the metal door. She's got a 2 ft long bone saw in her left hand and a cartoonishly large syringe in her right, which glows with a green liquid. Resolving readied actions declared:
