"It is what I live for - to uphold the teachings of Sarenrae." Corvus blushes slightly before composing herself. "By the Light, we'll teach those disgusting creatures the meaning of divine retribution." She smiles now at Merzahn and then whispers, "I'm not so sure with plans and the like. Give me an orc and a sword and I know what to do. Deciding grand plans isn't a strength. I usually just follow them and kill them. Any advise would be appreciated."

Turning to the group, Corvus adds, by way of an explanation, "She's been trained to track. The orc's smell is strong and she's keen to pursue. If even one of them splits from the main group, she'll be able to pick up the scent. It should make for fewer surprises."
Corvus collects Myst from the stables, the grey mare frisky until handled by the cavalier. "You sense something, don't you girl," Corvus whispers to the horse as she saddles it. "Or is it a smell? Your tracking skills may come in useful before the night is out. We've some catching up to do and we may not be able to go as quickly as you'd like." Oddly, the young woman seems more at ease talking to the horse than she had to the group of adventurers. Sensing her own actions, she patted the horse on the nose. "We're working with company now. It'll take getting used to for both of us - but we'll get there. By the Light, we'll get there." She then leads the horse by its reins back to where the group are gathered.
Corvus slowly comes to terms with the situation. With tempers flared and emotions high, she decides some calming words are in order. Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 "Temperance and patience good people. Let the teachings of the Healing Flame guide us this troubling evening." All the while, she is edging in the direction of the Mountain gate.

As one of the newbies, I can only speak for myself by saying that my interest is high. I'd prefer a slower paced game to none at all - but I'm also up for more non-GM led activity. I joined when the group were assembling in the inn and the posts flew thick and fast when we just interacted.
Having tasted success, Corvus grabs a second arrow and aims for the most conspicuous Orc before letting fly. "Light guide me," she mutters under her breath as she lets the arrow loose. I'll settle for whichever Orc makes most sense when all of the posts are in - GMs discretion. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Oops...sorry to hold things up... Corvus stadies herself for action. She's never been involved in a fight with so many allies and focuses to keep from being distracted. Feeling calmed, and calling on a blessing from the Dawnflower, she lets loose an arrow at the lead rider. Composite longbow at orc at M14(?)
EDIT - To confirm critical 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Corvus moves forward, trying to be stealthy despite her clunking armor. She takes up a spot where she can get a clear line of sight of many orcs. I will aim to get to say S6, where I can see enough Orcs to make a difference - plus it's within range. Then it's time to use my bow in anger for the first time. Initiative roll 1d20 ⇒ 18 Stealth roll 1d20 ⇒ 5
Corvus contemplates Crystal for a few seconds. "By the Light, then we have a plan. The two of us should be fleet of foot and back soon enough to help out with the current problem at the gates." "Of course, if we're not back soon enough, perhaps someone will consider covering our flank." "So," her voice brightening, "is it to be stealth or speed?"
Sondergang Wulfsson wrote: Sondergang looks on the chaos of the raid..."and now the Garrison is split into penny packets and outside the walls...does anyone else think this is the perfect time for an attack from another direction..someone should go check the other side of the castle" "Even in jest your words have proven prophetic. I would gladly go to check it out if another would come with me." A steely determination now shows in Corvus' deep blue eyes.
Corvus arrives, her red cheeks revealing that she has run all of the way. If she looked angelic in rainments, she looks every inch the blessed warrior now. Her golden, shoulder length hair cascades onto her brightly shining mithral chainmail and she looks comfortable with a scimitar in her hand and a longbow slung on her back. Taking in the arrows being nocked and then regarding the sword in her own hands, she asks, "Is it to be close-quarters or are we planning on keeping our distance?"
Corvus rushes to her room, muttering under her breath all the way. "Oh Sarenrae, all those years without a sign and then I see the shadow and now this. Was it a warning? Should I have acted differently? Oh I know you won't answer me, so I am not testing you - but you must understand my confusion." She enters her room and quickly disrobes. She dons her armor, re-strings her bow and slings it on her back and then grabs her shield and sword. She adjusts the silver holy Dawnflower around her neck and offers a quick prayer. As she rushes to join the action, a wry smile forms on her lips. "This could be interesting," she says aloud. "None of them have ever seen me in anything but my vestments!"
Realising she is farthest from the action and seeing her comrades scavenge for improvides weapons, Corvus makes some quick decisions. Firstly she looks for anything that could be used as a sword or dagger. Perception roll 1d20 ⇒ 17 Then she raises her voice, remaining calm and imposing at the same time. "Could everyone please leave by the nearest exit. Move quickly but don't run." Diplomacy roll 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Corvus mingles amongst the guests. Despite Sondergang's explanation that he was just joking, she remains on edge. Despite this, she makes every effort to be charming and say the right thing to the right person. This is not in any effort to win friends or influence people - but because of her faith and the fact that the marriage was officiated by a priest of the dawnflower. Diplomacy roll for mingling and small talk 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Corvus returns to the temple overnight. The following morning, as is befitting someone who follows the Dawnflower, she decides to wear a fresh , long white chasuble and tunic, decorated with red and gold thread depicting images of the sun. Having eaten as basic breakfast, she heads to the tavern to met up with the party of adventurers.
Corvus blinks and stares quickly at the others around the table, before returning her gaze to the far wall. She barely suppresses a shake of the head. She almost expects her vestments to be fluttering, her heart is racing so. Calming herself, a self-satisfied smile starts to spread across her face. Absent-mindedly she picks at some bread and jam - and is only vaguely aware that Crystal is talking to her. "My apologies," she finally says, "were you saying something? My mind was wandering." She makes a small embarrassed laugh before that broad smile returns to her face. "Please go on..."
Corvus considers the banter between the group. Anyone paying attention will notice she closes her eyes for a few seconds and appears outwardly serene. Spoiler:
Eyes closed, she offers up a brief internal prayer.
'Sarenrae, I know you have taught me to show temperance and patience in all things but I am wondering how I am to demonstrate compassion and peace under these circumstances. Please give me a sign that my decision to join this group was the right one.' She does not really expect any sign but takes this as another opportunity to hope for some divine intervention. Opening her eyes again, she sweeps the room, as if looking for someone before returning her attention to those present.
Corvus gives Merzhan a bief nod as he addresses her. "May the Light guide you good sir. Cinda has spoken of your magery and..ahem, other things besides." As Navorn approaches, she spares him half a glance. As he comments about the possibility that the dwarf has been in any way intimate with her, she makes a clear body movement away from the newcomer and towards Merzhan. "Cinda described you as a true gentleman. Yes, there now appears to be too few left in the world." Her smiles seems much warmer now, as she gives Merzhan her undivided attention.
Corvus looks up as a confident young man steps into the tavern - then he grins and starts towards the table she is currently adjacent to - the dwarf still requiring most of her attention. She considers him as he crosses the room. 'Confident. A noble bearing. Handsome. Most certainly self assured. This must be the sorceror that Cinda was so taken with. Well...each to their own I suppose.' She smiles politely at the newcomer as he draws near.
Corvus takes in the introductions. She smiles politely at the young Lady Mellie as she is escorted away by Crystal. "May Sarenrae provide a guiding Light in the darkness of your dreams." Corvus' smile remains fixed as she is introduced to Bornondon, and he promptly falls over. "There, there," she says, as she gainfully attempts to lift the dwarf back into his chair. "Please don't let me interrupt your revelry.” Corvus nods to Navorn and Ingra, hoping one or the other will help take the weight of the dwarf. Still struggling, she watches as the elf speaks to Crystal. She takes more notice when Daris addresses her directly. “Serve the wedding? Me? Oh, no. I’m not a priest in that sense. We followers of the Dawnflower take many guises. My, err, calling is that of a more martial-minded sort of follower. Kind of a paladin, you could say.” Corvus blushes at this point and returns her full attention to the dwarf.
A tall and thin young woman enters the Eagle's Aerie. Dressed in a long white chasuble and tunic, decorated with red and gold thread depicting images of the sun - she has deep blue eyes and pale skin but her most striking feature is her shoulder length golden rather than blonde hair. As she opens the door into the darkened tavern, the late afternoon's strong sunlight behind her gives a fleeting impression that an angel has walked into the room. As she scans the tavern, the locals return to their ale - recognising the formal rainment of a follower of Sarenrae. Having swept the room once, she shakes her head noticeably, muttering, "Healing Light" under her breath before scanning the bar again. This time her eyes alight on a very tall, attractive elf-like female - sitting playing the lute in a very self-aware manner. She sighs as she sees a young boy - no make that a hafling - get up from his meal and, staring all the while, move closer to the woman. Sighing even louder this time, the golden-haired woman moves gracefully to the stage herself. She eyes the hafling, and smiling all the while, addresses him. "You're drooling. I'll be generous and suggest it's the stew." Ignoring the hafling now, she bows slightly to the lute-player and introduces herself. "May the Light illuminate the Truth. My name is Corvus. I apologise for interrupting your playing, but I was looking for a gentleman named Merzhan." Again, she sweeps the bar as if looking for the man. "Garcinda told me I might find him here. And she mentioned he travelled with a beautiful..." Corvus pauses for a moment, obviously looking for the most appropriate word, "companion - and it is clear you must be the one called Crystal." Before Crystal can respond, Corvus continues, "I understand you are escorting a wagon train to the sea and I wish to volunteer my services as a guard." Finally she pauses, awaiting a response.

Pretty much finished - but I'm bound to tinker until the game re-starts. One thing though - my faith requires (or best suits at least) a scimitar - but I originally planned to have a rapier for weapon finesse. As they do the same damage exactly, I presume I'm not breaking the rules too much by using a scimitar instead? BTW most of my characters are Corvus xxx (Corax, Raaf - apparently the Dutch for raven). I like ravens...
