I would be cool with starting a new game.

This is a curve ball...but would anyone be interested in Good Society? It’s a GMless regency era storytelling game. It’s super well suited for PbB.

Btw: Sprawl was fine. Heist games are HARD to run in a satisfying way.

I laugh warmly. Oh no, this was still the clear choice. The elves want to kill me, you, Ron, everyone we've spoken to. Belym's likely the only one they wouldn't execute on sight. I'm just ribbing Ron for waiting until we've arrived to bring that up.

Any...all of that, really. I feel my world has turned upside down. I was raised to eliminate all traces of Asmodean corruption. “It’s better to extinguish a thousand lives than permit a single sliver of demon to thrive.” Discovering a trusted ally is a demon is one thing. But yo learn that my whole race decends from demon-kind? I can barely fathom the fallout if this becomes known.

I get quiet. There are those in power who are such fanatics that they’d end our race forever if they knew.

I snicker. The last thing you want to do is fight one Conwall, but the point stands. None of us would survive a visit to the Great Forest.

I shrug It could go either way, I’m afraid. If we made an impassioned plea that this is not a foe one can just nuke there might be a chance. But by “we” I mean “not me” because I’m currently Elfsonoa non grata among my people. And by “we” I mean “not you” because they’d never listen to a non-elf.

Nope. I decided to not get Blacksmith back in...uhhh...July 2016. Digging back into the thread reminded me that next level up I do want to take "Improved Weapon" and make Catastrophe huge. Then we'll REALLY have some fun.

Speaking of Spires, I'm running a game of Spire, the Drow freedom fighter game from Grant Howlett. If anyone is interested in checking it out, we could use one or two more Ministers of Our Dark Mistress to free Spire from the shackles of the foul Aelfir.

I laugh with what little mirth I have left after such a brutal fight. That “one” was mine? I indicate the assorted limbs and heads hewn from the cultossus. Count the legs, the arms and heads, and then divide by five. That’s my score for today.

I HIGHLY recommend Overcast. The volume levels for the first season are pretty whack and Overcast helps out a lot for that.

And you're supposed to hate Prentice. The whole idea of her...it's body horror in the worst way.

I squint. It's not attacking me (it's DELIBERATELY NOT ATTACKING ME) which means it's afraid. If it was able to strike me along with the rest, it would.

I press the advantage and bring Catastrophe down for a final strike. hack and slash: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12

He's already afraid. It's time for him to be dismayed.

My blows rain down on the monster fast and furious. Even if this monster survives my assault, it's now clear that it has two choices: Abandon its plan and flee completely or stay here and be utterly destroyed.

To paraphrase Nemo in League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. 2 “We... We cannot know what feelings our enemies have... But we may be certain at least, that Conwall. taught them terror.

For many humans living far from the great woods, Elves are something of a boogie man, monsterous killing machines, single soldiers destroying entire settlements. While much of that is exaggeration (for example it takes dozens of powerful spellcasters to convert even the smallest hamlet into a medium size hole in the ground) my unrelenting and precise slashes confirm the most horrifying tales of Elven prowess. If Uxfaris still has a bladder, he’s emptied it.

I look to the merged cultist monster in the middle of the room. I'm going to rush him.

Do I need to do anything before I can trigger H&S?

If not...

I bring Catastrophe down on the monster, hard. I have an opening to make an extra brutal slash, but remembering what it did to Ron (do we know he got out ok?) I instead take a more cautious approach.

My first time at the Lake of the Petals. A crystal clear lake in the heart of Stag's Leap's land, ringed by weeping willows, drooping so low that they scatter their leaves onto the lake's surface. In the fall, the whole lake is covered in the petals and children swim in the water one last time before it becomes too cold. It was a particularly peaceful time for me, before my uncle was killed by Ravagers and the relationship between the Stags and the D'Aroniques became strained. Before my sister journeyed into the Blightfields to avenge her dear friend, never to return. Before I set out on my own mission of vengeance, before my climb of purification, before forging my sword.

It was a simple memory, but a treasured one. If I could notice its absence, I'd be bereft.

I reach into my deepest reserves to fortify myself from the assault. Defy Danger Wisdom: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 1 = 6

I clear a path through some cultists, jabbing Catastrophe through a cultist’s chest.
Hack and slash: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d10 + 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (1) + 1 = 5
My brutal strike inflicts fear upon my foes. An elf has joined the fight, and any ambition the cultists have for the rest of their lives has changed to “die painlessly.”

When you hack and slash on a 12+ you deal your damage, avoid their attack, and impress, dismay, or frighten your enemy.
