HK,

Thank you for a great game! This was indeed a blast to participate in! I hope to run into you and all of the other players again on these boards.

If i ever start a PbP game, I will definitely think of you guys first, he he.

Fort save 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Cole continues his attack on the hunchbacked alchemist.

Attack Longsword 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11 flank
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Reflex save DC 14 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 saved
Current HP 9/11.

Cole dodges the worst of the foul smelling concoction grumbling under his breath, "Why do they always insist on doing it the hard way?"

He then moves up to engage the alchemist positioning himself to flank with Alanthain, and swings his blade at the foul man!

Attack Longsword 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21flank
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Cole knew this encounter would most likely end in violence, but still he had to at least make an attempt here to forestall it. Besides, this gentleman may be able to shed some light as to what is causing the dead to stir.

"Excuse us for interrupting your...work. We just wanted to ask you some questions."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Coles nods in response and prepares another Light cantrip for her, once she is done opening the door.

I will take the average roll here, so HP 5+3 CON +1 favored = +9.
Total HP 20.

Cole brandishes his sword and moves up to engage the remaining skeleton, hoping to destroy it before it can escape.

Attack Longsword 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 19 bless, inspire
Damage 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9 inspire

Cole waits for Lord Thorin to step forward, and once he leaves an opening Cole steps in and swings at the skeleton! S6.

Delay until after Thorin.
Attack Longsword 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 17 bless, inspire
Damage 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7 inspire

Cole shouts a prayer to Iomedae and holds aloft his holy symbol, where a burst of radiant energy emanates, and washes over his companions filling them with the blessing of Iomedae!

Cast Bless, +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and saves vs. fear.

Cole inwardly winces at the bravado display from Lord Thorin. Well, that's one way to announce yourself to the enemy...

He reaches down and grasps his holy symbol, mutters a swift prayer to Iomedae, marvelling at how easier the words flowed from his lips. Thorin feels a sense of anticipation, causign him to react faster than normal.

Cole uses granted power Seize the Initiative on Lord Thorin.
Seize the Initiative (Su): Whenever you and your allies roll for initiative, you can grant one ally within 30 feet the ability to roll twice and take either result. This decision is made before results are revealed.

Cole moved forward next to Alanthain. "Since we need to bypass this trap to deal with whatever lurks beyond it, let me assist you." He then touches the rogue, and infuses him with Iomedae's touch of Law.

Touch of Law (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11.

Cole nods in agreement, and relights another pebble for Catila. "I think we should move on now. No need to see what is down there, right?"

Cole waves everyone ahead of him, "I will keep an eye on the rear, make sure we are not ambushed."

Cole speaks up, "It takes magical cold to kill the mold! Fire only causes it to grow!"

Cole returns the grin, while retreating to a safe distance. He asks Catila "Brown mold you call it. Is there anyway of destroying it? Fire, perhaps?"

Cole raises his hand in warning, waving the others to go no further. "I see something back here...looks like mold of some kind. It could be what is causing it to be so cold in here."

He turns to face Catila, "You are the expert, what do you think?"

Cole peers into the Crypt of Envy, wondering why is was so cold in here....

Knowledge, Dungeoneering (untrained) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Assuming Brankh does not find anything...

Cole steps outside of the crypt and stretchs his body. He glances at Saorise but sees she is recovered from her bout with the spell.

"Let's see what other surprises are in the next crypt. Alanthain, if you would please..."

I am in this game to the bitter end.
I do have a bunch of other pbp games I am in so sometimes this one can slip behind my attention, but I do check the boards frequently so if someone posts, I will usually catch it.

Cole is not inclined to disturb anything here in the crypt, although he won't object if either Catila or Alanthain decide to explore further.

"I suggest we wait here until the others wake up."

Once the skeletons have been destroyed, Cole nods at Brankh, "Aye, this should not take long". He steps inside the crypt and peers into each alcove, looking for anything of note.

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Cole, blocked from the action, can only watch helplessly as the skeletons attack his companions. Still, he could contribute in other ways. He reaches to touch Alanthain and infuses him with the Touch of Law. Touch of Law (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11.

Brankh wrote:

Correct me if I am wrong, Cole. But I think your Will save should be 1d20 +7 = (15)+7 = 22

(ie. He has an awesome will save modifier = +7....+3Wisdom, +2 Cleric First Level, +2 Iron Will Feat).
If he is countering fear he would get +2 from his courageous trait
If these saves are supposed to counter a mind-affecting effect, all of Brankh's allies should get +1 to their save (from Brankh's born leader trait.)

Heh...I built Cole originally when I just started playing PF...and did a lot of 3.5 mistakes, stuff like that. Good catch there. Will save is +7.

Will save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 if needed.

Earlier...

Cole spent most of the time in the crypt talking with Lady Saorise, making sure her spirits are still high. He also will make small talk with Alanthain, as he has taken a liking to the rogue. Still, being trapped in a crypt for such a long time is nerve-wracking and when Catila motions to light up the pebble, he is all too happy to oblige.

"I suggest we find one of the crypts to hole up in for the rest of the day." Cole glances behind hin, and mutters, "Much as I hate to say it, that Lust crypt is probably the cleanest one there."

Cole resists the urge to sweep Saorise in a comforting hug when he sees the look on her face. Ach, she has been through too much.

He sighs and rubs the stubble on his face before he responds tiredly, "You were assaulted by those foul ghouls, and they...they nearly killed you..." His voice breaks, and then he finishes up rushing the words out of his mouth, "...and they infected you with ghoul fever."

Cole nods at the exuberance of Brankh, and responds ”Yeah, I think we could ALL use a drink at this point, but only a swig. Lady Saorise needs all of us to work together in order for her, and all of us to survive! Thorin, I know this place is not the accommodations you may be used to, but unless we waste the chimes power, we are stuck here. Once we have exhausted our divine abilities, we need to rest.”

Cole stares quietly at the still form of Lady Saorise, fighting back feelings of depression that threaten to overwhelm him. While he does not respond visibly to Lord Thorin's lament, it is clear to the others that, judging by the look on Cole's face, he shares the same sentiment.

Finally, he rouses himself and says quietly to the others, "We have to rouse her, despite the ghoul fever. Let me try to waken her..."

He brandishes his holy symbol of Iomedae, shared by Saorise, and calls on her power to flood the crypt with its healing light.

Channel Energy heal 1d6 ⇒ 4 all within 30'
Use 2/2

Once done, he leans agains a wall and mutters "We should be thinkin' of resting soon."

Cole gently lays Saorise down on the floor of the main cathedral next to the statue, using his pack as an impromptu pillow. He examines her, making sure she is comfortable, but able to do little to cure her as he has already expended his healing spells.

He recalls the healing potions provided by Lady Valanthe, but since Saorise is currently paralyzed, any attempt to feed her the potion would be more harmful than helpful. He struggles to recall stories about the ghouls and their paralyzing touch, most notably the duration of said effects.

Knowledge Religion 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Catila, was Saorise grappled by the ghoul? I did not see any grapple roll by the ghoul, unless they automatically grapple any foe they paralyze. HK's call here, I would say.
If the ghoul is actually grappling her, and assuming it is not slain before Cole's action, then he would join the grapple, trying to free Saorise from the grapple.
Here is Cole's grapple roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Cole staggers back as the ghoul bites into Saorise's flesh. He grits his teeth and finishes pulling her out of the crypt. He then lays her down and chants a quiet prayer to Iomedae to stanch the flow of blood.

"I will be back, Saorise"

Cast Stabilize on Saorise.

Cole nods at Lord Thorin's command and shifts his sword to his shield hand so he can grab Lady Saorise and pull her away from the slavering ghoul.

Forgive me Saorise! The though runs through his mind as his hand grasps her waist, and guides her gently into his arms.

I assume this would be a grapple check, but since Saorise is paralyzed Cole should automatically succeed. Assuming he does, he will pull Saorise into his own square and then out of the crypt.

I assume no one wants the Touch of Law that Cole offers...in that case, he will change his actions....

Cole mutters under his breath in response to Saorise's exclamation, "Apparently not." He then moves up behind her, and readies his own weapon to strike at the ghoul, should an opening present itself.

Move into position behind Saorise.
Attack Longsword 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

By the Nine Hells, could you be more specific?" Cole grumbles. He readies his own weapon, and says quietly to the others, "I can grant a touch of Law to a willing target, which removes chance from your nex chosen action. Anyone interested?"

Cole is offering to use the Granted Power: Touch of Law (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, infusing it with the power of divine order and allowing it to treat all attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round as if the natural d20 roll resulted in an 11. He will use this on the first player who agrees to this.

Cole gasps as he feels the fire of Saranae wash over him, soon followed by the cooling light of his own goddess. He feels a vague sense of satisfaction with him so far and silently resolves to help the group, especially Lady Saorise, in any way possible.

Cole shrugs as he turns his attention to the next statue, "Are you ready Alanthain?" he asks, readying his sword for whatever lays inside.

Cole glances back at him, making sure the area is chear of threats. He mutters a quiet prayer to Iomedae and touches Thorin's arm where a cool pale aura spreads to his wounds, knitting flesh and bone.

Convert Shield of Faith to a Cure Light Wounds spell.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Cole starts at the news these were actually Hellspawned creatures. He glances behind him to see if Saorise is ready to join the fray, and decides to help Lord Thorin out. He steps behind the cavalier, and lays his hand on the pommel of the sword he is wielding.

"This should help you strike these foul spawn!"

Round 3:
Cast Magic Weapon on Lord Thorin's sword.
Weapon now has +1 enhancement bonus for 1 minute.

"Little help here, ladies!"

Cole grits his teeth and steps forward, striking at the blubbery mass Alanthain wounded earlier.

Attack Longsword 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Cole does not hesitate as he moves into the crypt, sword flashing as he strikes at the hearest fleshy form!

Move next to nearest flesh creature
Attack Longsword 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

"What are these things?"

Cole peers into the crypt, and immediately his attention is drawn to the stalagmites inside.

He asks softly, "What do you make of those stalagmites?"

"Umm, actually Catila, we came from the statue you said was the Wrath Runelord." Cole eyes the statue of the Runelord Alaznist distrustfully. "Maybe we should check out the Sloth statue, how bad could it be?"

Cole shakes his head on hearing about the various Runelords recited by Catila, as the names meant nothing to him.

Once Catila ppoints out the value of the jewelry, he glances towards the bodies and nods slowly to her, "It should be all right, these bodies do not have any necromantic taint to them."

He glances towards the rear of the crypt, "There might be another hidden door back there as well."

Cole stands at the entrance of the crypt, and resolutely focuses his mind on the bodies and the potential dangers they represent.

Knowledge Religion check, to determine if these bodies are undead, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Assuming the chamber is clear, then he asks "Alanthain, could you see if this area has any traps?"

Cole cannot help but glance at both Lady Saorise, and Catila, as the blush has returned full force to his face. Trying to distract himself from certain...thoughts...that keep intruding in his head, he glances up at the ceiling while muttering, I wonder if there is anything else in this...place."

Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Cole grins at the half-orc "Yeah, I am sure that is the ONLY reason you want to start with her, right?"

He laughs quietly to himself, then adds "That sounds like a good plan to me."

Cole notices the grooves in the floor next to each statue. He stares around him at the other statues, although their historical significance escapes him, he realizes they are key to the mystery of this chamber.

"I think the statues are actually doors that lead to separate areas, linked to who the statue represents. We just took a back door route, if you will."

He points to the north door, "Since the other doors probably lead back to the entry chamber, I suggest we head north." He pauses, "Unless we can figure out how to move the statues, that is."

He looks at Catila, "Do you think magic is required here?"

Cole waves off the offer of healing, "Thanks, Brankh, but I'll be fine. Save it for those less hardy than me."

He walks over to Catila, "Maybe I could go with you, just in case. Besides you need me close to keep your pebble glowing."

Cole looks around the chamber, and when he hears Brankh’s exclamation, he nods grimly. ”So, this whole place is a Thassilonian ruin. Wonderful. At least I can see why Svilennius Tripe is interested in this place.”

He shakes his head at Brankh’s question, ”I did not pray for that orison this morning.”

Cole will follow Brankh into the chamber once the all clear is given, muttering underneath his breath all the while.
