It seems mirror polish is a spell to set up Mirror Hideaway, and Mirror Transport, but the Area of effect of the Mirror Polish is only 1 square foot. MIRROR POLISH:
School transmutation; Level sorcerer/wizard 1, witch 1 Casting Time 1 standard action Components V, S, M (a soft cloth) Range touch Target one metal item of up to 1 sq. ft. Duration instantaneous Saving Throw yes (object); Spell Resistance yes (object) You polish a metal item until it is reflective enough to be used as a mirror. This does not prevent the item from later damage or corrosion that would ruin the mirrored surface. The spell can be cast only on a metal item with a fairly smooth and contiguous surface, such as a breastplate, a helm, a shield, or a sword, but not a mace, chainmail, or scale mail. Should the area of effect be closer to 1 sq. ft per caster level? With this as the area of affect it would take somewhere between 6-9 spells to create a mirror large enough to use. ( like a medium sized Steel Shield ) While the spell specifically calls out a shield , I can see some GMs saying any item larger than 1x1 could not be targeted at all by the spell.
Can Dodging Panache be used in difficult terrain. Dodging Panache (Ex): At 1st level, when an opponent attempts a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet as an immediate action; doing so grants the swashbuckler a bonus to AC equal to her Charisma bonus against the triggering attack. This movement doesn’t negate the attack, which is still resolved as if the swashbuckler was in the original square. This movement is not a 5-foot step; it provokes attacks of opportunity from creatures other than the one who triggered this deed. The swashbuckler can only perform this deed while wearing light or no armor, and while carrying no more than a light load. As the ability allows you to move 5' WITHOUT any movement cost and it specifically calls out that this is not a 5' step.. I would think it would allow making the 5' movement in difficult terrain. Thoughts?
When two casters cooperate to craft a scroll, who determines the spell level, and type of spell ( Divine or Arcane) For example a Mage (17th lvl) and a cleric (17th lvl) get together to craft a scroll of Anti-Magic Field. Because the mage does not know the spell and the Cleric does not have Scribe Scroll. Does this make it a Divine Spell Scroll, an Arcane Spell Scroll or does the crafter, get to decide that. In addition, is the minimum scroll spell level based off the Arcane Spell level (6th lvl), the clerical level (8th) or is this determined by the Mage since he has the Scribe Scroll. What penalties (if any) is the spellcraft check made at to craft this scroll? FAQ Request please...
I have searched for several days now trying to find an answer and keep chasing threads in circles. When crafting Wands, Potions the spell in question MUST be used to craft the item, I get that, but does it have to come from the item creator? If a Potion Brewer is doing his thing, can he brew a potion if the party wizard or cleric is providing the spell, or if the spell is provided by a scroll or wand? Same question for Crafting a wand, if the spell is provided through a secondary source ( Scroll or alternate caster) , can the wand still be crafted? I have found a hand full of threads that seem to lean in either direction regarding the answer. And chance we can get a developer to chime in here and provide an answer? Clectable
So a Paladin can use Lay on hands on himself as a swift action, but does he have to? Can the Paladin choose to use Lay on Hands on himself as a Standard action? Here is the situation I see happening. I am playing a Pally in a WOTR, a mythic campaign and I can see a situation where I have used my Immediate or Swift action, but still need healing. Could he use a mythic power to gain a standard action and then use LOH on himself. Since the action can cost either a standard or a swift, I would think so, but wanted to get feedback from some of you fine folk... and some of you others as well. :-) Thanks
Sorry if I missed a FAQ or thread that addressed this already... I read an older thread where the consensus was Lunge could only be activated on your turn, and since it's effects end at the end of your turn, You could never use lunge and AOO together. However in reading the Mythic Lunge description is specifically calls out using Lunge with AOO. Lunge (Mythic):
Your reaching strikes aid your defenses against those you hit. Prerequisite: Lunge. Benefit: Whenever you use Lunge and hit a creature with the melee attack, you no longer take a –2 penalty to AC against that creature. You can expend one use of mythic power when you use Lunge to negate the –2 penalty to AC whether you hit or miss, and gain a +2 bonus on attacks of opportunity you make while Lunge is in effect. This seems to imply you can activate lunge whenever you want correct? Based on this reading, one could end his turn, and then activate Lunge if someone got close enough to invoke an AOO. Does anyone see any reason why you could not use Lunge and Retributive Reach together? Retributive Reach:
Treat your reach as 5 feet greater than normal for the purpose of determining whether or not you can make an attack of opportunity. If a creature provokes an attack of opportunity within this area of increased reach, you can expend one use of mythic power to gain a bonus equal to your tier on the attack roll and damage roll of the attack of opportunity. Finally is there, or should there be an action involved to activate Lunge?
I noticed that the Guardian, Trickster and Marshall all have a path ability that allows them to select addition 1st tier abilities (Guardian's Call, Marshall's Order and Trickster Attack) However Archmage, Champion and Hierophant do not. Was that intentional or should all of the Mythic Paths have the ability to select additional 1st tier feature abilities?
going through the Mythic stuff and came across some combo's that seems pretty interesting. Would a Bull Rush Strike invoke and AOO for an enemy pinned with Mythic Cage Enemy Path Ability? Could you invoke multiple AOO's IE hit for crit more than once through a full attack option. Bull Rush Strike:
Bull Rush Strike (Combat) Your critical hits can push back your foes. Prerequisites: Str 13, Improved Bull Rush, Power Attack, base attack bonus +9. Benefit: Whenever you score a critical hit with a melee attack, you can push your opponent back, in addition to the normal damage dealt by the attack. If your confirmation roll exceeds your opponent's CMD, you may push your opponent back as if from the bull rush combat maneuver. You do not need to move with the target if successful. This does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Normal: You must perform a bull rush combat maneuver to bull rush an opponent. Special: You can only apply the effects of one of the following feats to a given critical hit: Bull Rush Strike, Disarming Strike, Repositioning Strike, Sundering Strike, or Tripping Strike. You may choose to use this feat after you make your confirmation roll. Cage Enemy:
You can pin enemies foolish enough to face you. As an immediate action, you can expend one use of mythic power to hinder opponents until the end of your next turn. When this ability is active, any creature moving out of one of your threatened squares, even when making a 5-foot step or using a form of movement that doesn’t usually provoke attacks of opportunity, provokes an attack of opportunity from you. If your attack of opportunity hits and deals damage, the creature remains in its current space and its movement ends. Alternatively, you can expend one use of mythic power as part of a charge. If the charge attack hits, the target can’t move itself from its space until the beginning of your next turn (though others can move the creature). Would the Mythic Drive Back Path Ability invoke an AOO for every enemy affected by it if Cage Enemy is Active? Drive Back:
As a full-round action, you can attempt one bull rush combat maneuver check and apply it to all opponents within reach. If you have the Whirlwind Attack feat, you can use this ability at the same time that you make an attack against each foe within reach, allowing you to attempt a free bull rush combat maneuver check against each foe that you hit. After you’ve pushed opponents backward, you may move with any one of your bull rush targets. Seems like it would...
The first time you select this ability do you get to select one of the special abilities? For example if I selected the Legendary Item - Intelligent ability three times with Spell casting taken each time possible, would it be: Example 1:
or Example 2:
Which one is correct?
Reading though the message-boards it seems apparent that is you try to use a SLA of a spell that has a casting time longer than a standard action, you use the spells casting time, Summon Monster as an example. is the converse true, if you have a spell with a swift action ( or immediate action) casting time, would the SLA have that swift or immediate action activation time . Feather fall for example. (or one of the newer clerical / Paladin spells like Grace. Is there a FAQ on the subject? I have not seen one in my search.
Thanks!
I am helping my wife with a gypsy build for an upcoming WOTR campaign. Decided on a tattooed Sorcerer and a bluff specialist. (+16)
I know Rich Parents is usually a poor trait, but in this case, is there really anything better? Human with Focused Study and Silver tongue
Feats:
Spells, Snowball, Color Spray Silent Image ( Page of Spell Knowledge) She probably won't ever deal the most damage in a round, but should always deal decent damage, with debuffing options. (Rime and eventually daze, topple etc.) Add that with Summoning as a swift action (Mythic - Wild Arcana) And she should be pretty effective in combat. Thoughts and suggestions?
Since Hero's Defiance is a IA that is used before you drop to 0 hp, can you use it ANYTIME before you drop below 0. IE a Paladin is hit with an attack that will Daze or stagger him, can he use the IA to use a LOH that would not just heal him, but utilize the mercy feature that removes the condition even if the attack would not drop him below 0 hp? Since the spell is cast, as opposed to a contingency type spell (duration instantaneous) Can it be cast anytime as a IA? Thoughts?
Does Combat Trickery invoke and AOO if you don't have feats to make Bull Rush, Drag or Reposition not invoke? I would think not, as you are using bluff as opposed to actually making a CMB.
Combat Trickery: Combat Trickery (Ex): Through buffoonery and deceit, you can trick opponents into moving where you want them. You can make a single combat maneuver check using your Bluff check modifier in place of your CMB. Apply the result of this check to all adjacent opponents, and resolve it for each enemy independently as a bull rush, drag, or reposition combat maneuver. For example, if facing three opponents, you can roll one check and attempt to bull rush the first, drag the second, and reposition the third.
I decided on Magical Knack for my Paladin build, is there a way to get another + 1 Caster level so his CL matches his Class level? Magical Knack: Magical Knack You were raised, either wholly or in part, by a magical creature, either after it found you abandoned in the woods or because your parents often left you in the care of a magical minion. This constant exposure to magic has made its mysteries easy for you to understand, even when you turn your mind to other devotions and tasks. Benefit: Pick a class when you gain this trait—your caster level in that class gains a +2 trait bonus as long as this bonus doesn't raise your caster level above your current Hit Dice.
I am looking at the following build for a Paladin of Sarenrae and looking for advice on the build. We are starting the Wrath of the Righteous adventure path soon with limited healing (no cleric, but I think we will have a Bard and either a Witch or an Oracle) I figured I needed to be self sustaining in combat so I maximized my Lay on Hands by going with one of the Tiefling options with a CHR boost (have not decided yet). + 1 lay on hands to self, with the Fey Foundling feat at first level (+2 hp per die on any magical healing). I plan on taking Greater Mercy at 3rd to really pile on the healing. I figured I would go Sword and Board as I was planning on taking the Guardian Tier path and Sacrificial Shield to start with, and Fast healing after that. Really becoming a meat shield for the party. I am taking the Exposed to Awfulness trait but am undecided on the second trait, any advice there would be awesome. I was also thinking of dropping the spell like ability for the Maw and Claw ability, but that seems kinda counter productive to the Sacrificial Shield ability. Any other traits or feats I should look at maximize the lay on hands?
We are currently playing the Rise of the Runelords and are poised to face Karzog. I am playing a (God) Wizard Conjurer (Thanks to Treemonk for his guide BTW) and we just hit 15th lvl. I am interested in the True Name Discovery and my GM and I want to ensure we have a balanced use of the feat. From a Roleplaying perspective I think we would with me finding the True name of an outsider that faced one or more of the Runelords from within either the Library (Fortress of the Stone Giants) or in one of the Runewell books we found (Sins of the Saviors) We have a couple of questions in our effort to keep the game balanced. 1. What CR should the creature be for a group of 4 at 15th lvl (with 1 @ 14 the lvl follower as well)? 18 HD covers a range of CR from around 13 to CR 17 or so I believe right?) 2. The following text from the True name Discovery is giving us issues with the feat.
First off, unless you activly try to make it your ally, shouldn't the outsider try escape in some fashion anyway? Is once a week sparingly? Once a day? How long can the creature be summoned for? Several Rounds, hours, weeks etc? We are very interested in not only some suggestions on how to keep the True Name feat balanced and specifically keeping in mind we are in the last phase of the Runelords campaign, but also outsider suggestions based on the history of the runelords. Etcher (my mage) would prefer something nuetral aligned to match his own as he really despises the agendas that accompany the good / evil outsiders. Not that nuetral creatures won't have an agenda! Thanks in advanced. Chris |
