Center realized that the encroaching wall was a serious threat, but knew that the Mummy presented a more immediate threat. Also, once Center set his mind to solving a problem, he tended to see the task through to completion. The nano reached back out with his mental energies, attempting to unravel the mind of the ancient evil. Mental Onslaught with Effort to Hit - Reducing Int Pool to (7)

Center was disappointed at the ease with which his probing mental onslaught was pushed away, he redoubled his resolve and pushed again. Mental Onslaught with Effort to Hit. (2 Int Damage - Ignores Armor) Reduces Int pool from 11(current) to 9(Turn 44) Also I have the Anchor Stone that we can maybe use to halt/slow the wall - or at least to give us the last 5ft of the room as safe space maybe. Anchor Stone p.34 Level: 1d6 - 6 Usable: Lump of oddly shaped stone or metal Effect: Submerging the device in water causes it to swell into a boulder about 5 feet (2 m) in diameter that weighs 500 pounds (227 kg).

Center distanced himself from the wall, stepping ten feet forwards. He had connected with the ancient mind and his attack clearly had an impact. When his mind connected he felt the incredible rage of his foe. Center knew that the group would need to work hard to overcome such a powerful enemy. Center tried to re-focus his energies, to wear down the will of his foe, to dissipate the hatred that kept the Mummy bound to this world. Mental Onslaught with Effort to Hit. (2 Int Damage - Ignores Armor)

How does attack flourish work? Do we benefit even if it misses? Do Esoteries & Fighting Moves benefit or just Action:Attack? Also - remember guys that as long as we all three attack the same target, we all benefit from the old one-two-three rule - giving us each an Asset to succeed.
M-12/12 S-10/10 I-23/23 Guarded Nano who Wields Power With Precision
Center scanned the room, looking for more pressure plates, holes in the ceiling, slits in the wall, etc.
He slowly advanced after his check, mentally readying an Onslaught should any threat materialize in the room.

Center scanned for any mechanisms that he might be able to disarm or manipulate to disable the dart trap. At worst, he would hopefully notice the mechanism that triggered the trap so that he could avoid activating it. disarm trap with intellect effort

Center is satisfied to have disabled the statue. He saw that Leman had already leapt across the gap. Center positioned himself to likewise take advantage of a running start and made to clear the gap.
If Cleared:
Center landed solidly on his feet, picking back up the torch that he threw across the gap before jumping. He began scanning the room for anything dangerous or out of the ordinary. "I don't trust this body over here. It might be a trap" Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20 If Not Cleared:
Center was in a bad spot of luck. He yelled "Drop me a rope! Im stuck down here." Climb Out: 1d20 ⇒ 18 Finally some big rolls. So 2x Effort to disable brings my Intellect Pool to 13/21. How much did getting hit by the Dinosaur Statue hurt me?

Spend 4xp to take Intellect Edge +1 - Also I am assuming that disarming Dino statue is an Intellect task, unless you correct me to say it is a speed task? Center benefits from his distrust of the situation and his light, he sees the statue activate and dodges the attack with ease. "We need to turn this thing off!" Center focuses his mental energies to scan the statue looking for switches or vulnerable spots. Request GM roll to deactivate - Requesting two assists - one Asset from Major Effect of dodge, also an Asset from Intellect Effort (cost 1 with Edge 2)

I hope we have gotten all of our 1's out of the way! Sheesh! I can take the Anchor Stone, I have room. One of you two should take the Powder. How long are we able to rest? I'll roll for my ten minute recovery roll, but if we can use all our of them - "Long Rest" - I would welcome GM to roll for me for the other 2. 10 Min Recovery Roll: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Center addressed his wounds best he was able, and approached the newcomer. "We appreciate the assistance, traveller. I guess we are all in these caves for the same reason, what trouble left you alone in this wilderness? More importantly, was there any treasure the way you came? There is only trouble the way we came, so unless there is anything promising to the North, I suppose there is only one place for us to go. What should we call you? I am called Center." Numenera Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Center walked over and began gathering what looked like scraps of rock. Center smiled, satisfied knowing he could do damage against this foe. He had began to lose faith in himself. Seeing Rel lose his weapon, Center redoubled his efforts. He crouched and focused his energies. Another force orb appeared between his hands, and he sent it to finish off the bug. Onslaught with effort to damage against Bug3. My attack last round brought my Int Pool from 15 to 12. This effort will bring my pool from 12 to 9.

Center was happy to see that these bugs could be killed. It renewed his will to fight. He began focusing on the newest bug, it was smaller - like the one that had just fallen to Rel's blow. He prepared his onslaught attack with Effort to Damage (Int 12) and released it as soon as the bug stopped moving, only then noticing that the bug was standing over the body of his short-term traveling companion. Center mumbled a few words to honor the fallen.
M-12/12 S-10/10 I-23/23 Guarded Nano who Wields Power With Precision
Knowing that his glove would be running out of power at any moment, Center took two steps East, passing Rel and gesturing towards the nearest Bug(1). He hoped that using the full power of the glove to send the beetle into the cave wall would at least crack the carapace, or maybe even end the bug's life.
As the bug skittered towards the wall, Center glanced over to see the newcomer charge recklessly at the remaining killer bug. He was shocked to find that not only was there a new human in the cave, but a new bug as well! He sighed and cleared his mind in preparation for a long fight.
M-12/12 S-10/10 I-23/23 Guarded Nano who Wields Power With Precision
Center reeled from the blow, it left him bleeding profusely. Tell me if I can't do this because I am trapped - I'll spoiler it Beetle Flippin': Center's pain focused into channeled rage as he activated his Sweeping Glove, the cypher flung both beetles away from the party 20 ft, towards the south wall. Skittering along the ground, careening heavily into rocks, the beetles took 2 ambient damage ea. Center stood up and slowly walked after the bugs.
M-12/12 S-10/10 I-23/23 Guarded Nano who Wields Power With Precision
Center shouted out "Bedivere! Fall back, if we don't concentrate our efforts we have no chance of defeating these beasts." Center retreated to the cave mouth and made another onslaught attack, Effort to Damage (int pool 15) against the closer beast. I know they reduce armor by 1 - think that applies to Ward as well? Nothing to say that it doesn't but I am thinking I have 0 armor, but I have an effect that gives me +1 armor. If the attack reduces my armor by 1 - I assume armor can't go negative so I would still have 0 armor but +1 from Ward. I am saying this not to be 'difficult' but because I think these rules discussions are the purpose of this thread. yes?

Center had been deep in his thoughts as they walked through the long cave. He carried a lit torch from his pack, preferring to have a light source that he could depend on than the occasional dim light offered by lingering numenera or luminescent creatures. He only noticed that they rock appeared to be opening up into a larger chamber when his companions stopped suddenly ahead of him. He quickly scanned the field of battle and knew that he wanted to stay away from those mandibles. Center stood his ground and summoned the power within him. Seeing Rel throw a knife, Center decided to release a piercing Onslaught at the same creature. He knew that the more of them that attacked the same beast, the harder it would be for the beast to avoid the attacks. (The Old One-Two-Three, pg.101) Onslaught with Effort to Damage - Int pool - 18/21 Hit:
The blast made contact with the beast, Center kept close watch to see whether the beast took much damage from the attack. The beast certainly looked well armored through those claws and gleaming carapaces. miss/hit no damage: The blast appeared to hit the creature but the energy must have dissipated along its carapace, it seemed to take no notice of the attack.

He then looked around the cave mouth a bit for any storage spaces or numenera (cyphers) that may have been forgotten by time in the nooks and crannies of the natural rock. A guy can hope!

Center felt the satisfaction that comes with a job completed. It had taken him a lifetime to hone the skills needed to fell a man using only his thoughts. The roar of the Mechano-saur brought his focus back to the task at hand. It is going to take a bit more effort to bring down the big one. Center glanced over to the two glaives and saw that they had taken quite the beating from this foe, he steeled himself and set about to the task of bringing this monster down. Onslaught with Effort to Hit (what is the difficulty of the task to hit the dino? 3 or 4? If it is 2, then I use Effort for damage instead)- subtract three from Int pool bringing total to 15 Center realizes that bringing down this beast will require a number of hits, he gets into a martial position that allows him to focus all of his energy into the palm of his hand, as soon as he feels the presence of that force, he sends it towards the dino and prepares to create another. hit:
Center's blast hits the dino in a soft spot. The beasts flesh blackens where the blast makes contact, damaging but hardly slowing the beast. miss: Centers blast hits a scale of the monster and the energy dissipates along the body, it is hard to tell if the dinosaur even noticed.

Center grins smugly as his first blast tears into the scout, "I'll be your end... Make your peace!" Onslaught vs Scout: 1d20 ⇒ 17 Center focuses his attention on the heartbeat of the scout, he tunes out all other distractions until the heartbeat fills his senses. The power of another onslaught builds up in him, almost unbidden. With barely a whisper, he releases the blast directly into the man's heart. I did the math wrong the other day - total intellect would be (Onslaught 1 + Effort 3 - Edge 1 = 3) so I have 18 pool remaining not 19.

I didn't find a solution that either of us could do. I'll keep my eye on the thread though. Like I said, I am following the RSS for this page - so I will see whenever you post that way. Also I can look at the "Messageboards" page and click My Campaigns - this comes up there. Thanks for offering though.

Thanks for telling me which forum to check - I hadn't seen "website feedback" and was looking unproductively at other boards. It seems to be an open bug, once you hide a page you can't unhide it. I think it came up because I joined with both balanders and Center and I wanted to clear it from Balanders log. I guess you can't hide it from one without hiding it from both and now I can't unhide it.
I also am playing in a Campaign that is not showing up on my campaign tab. I joined the campaign with 2 pc's on accident and somehow after that it disappeared from my tab. My character does show up in the Player and Character tabs of the campaign, but the campaign is not on my home screen or campaign tab. Thanks for your consideration. - I am following the thread as an RSS feed but it is less convenient than being able to check my campaign tab.

For some reason this game isn't showing up on my home screen - my "campaign" tab. I dot & deleted and it was on my tab for a few days but then it disappeared. I am in the Player & Character tabs for the campaign still. I added the feed to my RSS reader so that I won't miss any posts but let me know if you have advice for how to get this campaign back onto my home screen.

Center grimaces. Just to clarify did scout 2 die, & scout 1 is at full health behind Bedivere? I just see scout 2 having 2hp on your sheet but don't see him on the map. |
