Just finished running my first session of this game and I was very surprised with how difficult the starting fights are.. Granted I rolled really well with the drunken brawlers and the nonlethal stipulation added some difficulty. But after coming across the trap in Myron's wagon the party wants to rest and is low on hp. They definitely are not optimized for the edition. They don't have a cleric and don't have a focused healer but I still feel it's pretty rough to do all of this in one night.. When the pods use their reaction to burst are they disabled or do they continue using the routine until a PC disables it?
During previous book discussions the vibe that James tended to provide was that we should be attempting to allow a reasonable amount of downtime when possible for the party. Particularly in between books. My party just started book 4 and I was planning on allowing my party to begin crafting some of the golems from any of the 3 manuals you find from books 2-4. But this book seems adamant against the party receiving any downtime between book 4 and 5. Is this a hard no for a particular reason or can I play a little loose and give them the downtime they need without breaking book 5 in the process?
While re-reading book 2 I realized that event 4 states that Viralane recites a poem that isn't provided to read for the players. I wanted to immerse my players in the moment of this and I looked up poems that could fit into this moment. I found a poem that matches Windsong Abbey pretty well, especially if your players (like my players) have aided in restoring the Abbey a bit. Here is the first two verses of the poem: WS Warner Oct 2011
Static, memories
Empty room, echo hollow
One of my players is playing a character on a mission from the Therassic Spire in Kaer Maga. He is specifically interested in Thassilonian history. I told him that research he found there would have periodically mentioned Roderic's Cove as it does have plenty of Thassilonian lore surrounding it. I was hoping to give the player a hand out of what rumors he might have seen to draw him to the cove. Some accurate and some not to give him a bit of information overload so he doesn't know what to believe. I was hoping some GMs here could help me right some rumors that could mention Roderic's Cove, the surrounding area or anything even slightly related. On another note, the same player is also taking Time Lost. But I'm still waiting for book 3 to be delivered to explain to me why he is missing time. If anyone could either answer that or at least put me at ease that him believing he was meant to be born in Thassilon isn't too far back for the trait to be relevant when the reveal happens. Thank you for any help on either of the topics. |
