How big is the dragon-thing? And what are the green areas of the map? Swift action activate Spell Dance. Celiaea will move 20ft through difficult terrain straight ahead. "I know he's annoying, but he's not for eating!" Celiaea shouted at the creature, hoping to get its attention as she ran and drew her longbow. I meant to attack, but then I remembered I can't move and draw until next level. Crap.

DM Kludde wrote: You can use all the stuff you find for the duration of the game. After that, all the nice items become available for purchase from the chronicle sheet, so if you want to keep an item for the next scenario, you have to buy it from the gold that you found (which is also reported on the chron sheet). Does that make sense? Doesn't make sense to me... so, we find gold that we can only spend to buy things that we've also already found? Do we tend to find a lot of gold in a society game compared to a normal game? Anyway, yeah, Celiaea will take the chain shirt if no one else wants it.

Celiaea's purple eyes darkened, "We should be very careful. Whoever set that trap is probably not far away... Kettil, any luck with the traps?" She sets her boot to one corner of the opened chest and give it a firm shove.

"Well," she answers Kettil, "I wasn't given any indication on how things would be at all. But I was sent here before things got weird... I don't know. It just seems like the Society knew about this nasty business before it happened... and that doesn't sit right with me." After Kettil had removed his hand and nervously stalked away, Celiaea looked at her shoulder strangely, but then she cracked the slightest of smiles. When they happened upon the encounter site her brow furrowed and her eyes went wide. "This isn't good," she said quietly. She nodded to the silly gnome and took his advice, looking around, seeing if there were any clues she could pick up about what had happened here. Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

"I did not mean to be rude earlier. I hope you weren't offended. The society was just frustratingly vague on why I was sent here in the first place... and then this happens. I just can't shake the feeling that they knew something beforehand. But if they did... what does that mean?" picks up cold weather outfit, and purchases 20 normal arrows and 20 cold iron arrows.

Celiaea took at look at her coin purse. Hmm... "I'm running pretty light myself," she told the elf Kazia. She turned then tithe newcomer, "Yes ma'am, we'll get it done. But can you do us a favor? Could you supply us with some warmer clothes?"

Celiaea had to stifle another mocking laugh at the gnome when he said, "I need to get a wriggle on." She answered him imperiously, "I need to get my backpack. Which is at the inn. See how that works out?"

"Thank you, Yuln. Hopefully, we can avenge your comrades," she said, not convincing even herself, "And if not... well, hopefully someone can come and avenge us all, huh?" At that she turned to follow Kettil out the door. As she passed Joesef she slapped him on the shoulder suddenly, hoping to get a scare out of him, adding, "You've got a lot to learn, youngster."

"Forgive me for being so blunt, Yuln, but before I go out there and get killed like your four companions, I'd like to know what I'm up against. How many winter-touched? Were they organized by some kind of leader or did it seem like a random attack?"

Kezia Talinathe wrote: The trailer did an excellent job playing up the comedy aspects that worked in past marvel movies, threw in a few quick action blurbs, but focused on simply introducing the characters over the storyline. They need to sell the characters over the story itself in this, since in a way, they're selling the wider, non-famous, marvel heroes with it. Well, for me, the characters in the trailer were, unfortunately, the worst part of it by far. Star Lord seems like a douche bag. Not someone I'm interested in as a main character or a leader.

I'll be watching GotG, because I want it to be really good. The previous run on it (not the current Bendis run) was some of the best comic book reading in the last several years. But unfortunately, that trailer did look really, really cheesy.

"Ugh. I am not a fan. Cold magic is a handy tool, but I'd much prefer somewhere with mild temperatures year-round and maybe a touch of humidity. I've never heard of anything like this sort of false winter though. Have you?" I'll wait and let someone else speak to the mercenary first.

"Thank you, Priestess." Celiaea left the temple and made her way to apothecary's. Upon arrival she discovered a motley crew of three had already arrived to call after the injured bodyguard. She began to bristle at that until she noticed the hunter Ketill, another frequenter of the local temple. "Ketill, hello. So, you're here for the mercenary too?" She stifled a laugh when she noticed the gnome. She found him ridiculous, moreso than she found other gnomes, "Who are your friends?"

Hadn't noticed that I wasn't the only character without a backstory. Cool. I think you're doing a great job roleplaying Joesef and I am beyond intrigued by this Rat Man plot thread you've just dangled.

Sheesh. Starting the campaign off with a 1. In one of my other games after 10 or so rolls my average was under 7. It was a bad first session. Hopefully I don't have the same luck here! Piecing together Celiaea's backstory as I go, if that's okay with you.

Go to Heldren, they said, Celiaea thought to herself, Keep an eye on the locals, note any interesting findings in your journal, and report back to us after a month's visit. Did they know this was going to happen? How? The lithe elf warrior had only just arrived the night before, sent by the Grand Lodge to observe. Until now she was annoyed and skeptical of her assignment, reconsidering her choice to join the organization. With the rumors pouring in of unseasonable weather and strange, cold creatures in the woods, she was beginning to wonder about the motives of the masked Decemvirate council. She was certain it could not be mere coincidence. Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
She had been frequenting the local temple, asking questions about faith and the gods. It was a raw subject for her, having fallen out of favor with her parents for disagreeing with their religion, though she couldn't help herself nontheless. Her interest was genuine. That it helped her gain insight into the community was a handy side effect. And that was where she found herself now. "Priestess, how are you?" Celiaea tried to sound cordial but her words rang guarded nonetheless, "Have there been any new refugees? And the bodyguard, is he going to be okay?"

Well, her backstory was that she was treated as an outsider by her community and extended family because of her darkvision which led her to choose a different faith than the popular one and eventually into becoming a traveler's guide in deep, dark places. Maybe I can still salvage that, but it seems really odd if her most personality-defining trait just "wore off" one day.

Kezia Talinathe wrote: That's what it looks like. But going in different directions (Str/debuff vs Dex/damage?). Btw, random, but I don't think the darkvision elven racial is allowed in PFS. I remember feeling a bit sad about that, as I <3 darkvision! Aw, really? Well... I'll double-check. Man! What the heck is that about? All alternate racial traits except darkvision. Laaaaaaame. Kinda have to reconsider her whole backstory now... |
