Just wanted to say thank you to the tech people for fighting their way through getting absolutely buried.
It took a while to get my stuff at the time, but with so many people trying, I wasn't surprised. For a while there, it looked like the number of bundles sold was jumping by the hundreds every few minutes.
Being new here, I also appreciate that it wasn't just a mouthpiece saying the same canned responses (which always feels like shorthand for "we'll get to it in our own time, deal with it"), but the people working hard to manage the overload. Never got the feeling that those behind the scenes didn't give a crap, which is downright refreshing, honestly.
Looking forward to getting into some games, grabbing some more stuff (trying to not drool over the Cthulhu and horror-related items too heavily), and having some fun. Hope the insanity's finally dying down a bit on the tech side of things.

(The Paizo bundle's first day was the best first day in HB's history by more than three times, according to Vic.) That's not quite accurate. It was the best first day for a Humble Books bundle by a factor of almost three. They've had bigger first days in other categories.
That said, when we were estimating load, both Humble Bundle and Paizo were anticipating Books numbers, not video game numbers. We had a number that would be considered "worst case" for the two-week campaign; we passed that while I was at lunch on day 1 (and the campaign started at 11AM!). We had a number that we were all thinking would be "pretty good" for the two week; we hit that before bedtime. 50,000 bundles for the whole campaign would have been a wild fantasy before this started, yet we're there after just 1 week. See? That'll teach you to go to lunch. If you'd sat around waiting on a Hot Pocket instead, the system wouldn't have been overloaded. ;)

Well, finally got everything done.
It's been interesting, between Chrome timing out when it felt like it, Firefox running at a crawl and Internet Explorer refusing to work at all.
But on the bright side of things, the tech people putting in the time to upgrade things definitely opened up enough cracks in the wall to make it work. The effort is very much appreciated. =)
Also wanted to acknowledge those who mentioned the link switching between Chrome and Firefox. More than once, that was the only thing that worked. Thank you for that info. =)
This is fun. It was kinda like gambling on Chrome for a bit, sometimes working out, sometimes crashing, but then it all went to crap entirely. Now it's just a straight up stubbornness contest with Firefox since anything shoved through it goes at about 5 percent of normal speed.
Silly machine, it doesn't realize that I used to sit through dial-up.
I can do this standing on my head.
Hmm. Cleared out my Chrome cache again, now it's working properly, and with proper speed.

Day two -
The group is on the verge of frenzy due to lack of .pdf availability.
Games of cannibal Twister (a particularly brutal variation of the sport wherein all losers are ritually doused in barbecue sauce, lit on fire, thrown out the front door, chased down and eaten one smoldering spork-ful at a time) are now being set up to thin the ranks and reduce the wait time for those lucky enough to survive...

If so, then kudos. If not? Think about it. It could be fun. I have sent you a PM, envelope at the top of the page next to your name My first piece of possible (hell, who am I kidding, more like highly probable) hate mail? I'm honored! =)

Well, if nothing else, the thread is doing a good job, not just in terms of useful information from both staff and members, it's providing a giggle or three as well.
On that jovial note, anyone feel like joining in a spirited late night rendition of 47 trillion bottles of beer on the wall?

First time site user, and I'm not terribly worried about being unable to grab my books in the next two seconds.
Honestly, I'm still very pleasantly surprised that I got the opportunity to get so many things for a good looking game at such an insanely low price.
Anyone with any kind of interest in playing a fantasy RPG would be silly to pass the deal up. With that info alone, I knew going in that the site was going to get buried.
Combine that with seeing the Humble numbers spike like crazy by the minute, and I knew it'd probably take days for Paizo to dig out from under the backlog of orders.
Sure, I could sit here and be angry, or frustrated, but that ultimately seems incredibly silly.
"How dare you give people a 90 percent off or higher deal, while helping a charity, but not be able to magically get everything to every single person in a split second when your incredibly generous deal is taken advantage of by the tens of thousands!?!?!"
See? That is an intensely silly statement. That's a statement I couldn't make with a straight face.
And so, I'm just going to kick back, see what looks good to fill gaps in my new collection and relax.
