Thanks, Undone. Well, you've convinced me about taking the straight MoMS vs. MotSM, and the rest makes sense.

What about Amulet of Nat AC vs. Amulet of Mighty Fists for a Sacred Fist?

Scarab Sages

Preparing for a Mummy's Mask campaign with a Oread Sacred Fist. Haven't decided about a 1 or 2 lvl dip in MoMS and whether to add Monk of Sacred Mountain if I do dip 2 lvls, but I'll follow the outline from Undone's guide for the SF. What I'm wondering about is taking lvls in Living Monolith at higher levels. Is that crazy? Certainly thematically appropriate, but looking for thoughts on the synergy or impediments of that choice. Action economy to make use of enlarge person is certainly part of my concern, as is the choice of whether to continue caster progression or get the BAB boost when enlarged (depending on type of stone). Worth noting that I think the rest of part will be ninja, investigator and a sorcerer/oracle/mystic theurge, so I'll be the front-liner of the party (and have concerns about doing that with a d8 class).

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

GMing this tomorrow, and while I think this scenario is awesome, after a read through I have some questions that I hope John or Kyle can chime in on:

1) How are PCs supposed to know what book they are looking for on Princess Eutropia’s behalf, especially if they don’t make the check and have the knowledge about what she wants, since it says the letter is unsigned? Does the letter itself specify the name of the text, or merely give direction to the kind of information (i.e., line of succession)?

2) The checks for research seem very limited, and I worry about random party composition. It does say to allow other checks, so what do people think is fair for a penalty to straight INT checks for research? Or should there be any penalty? (-2 to -5 suggested for other skills)

3) As Steve asked, which is the correct cipher? I don’t have time to try them all out, and I want to know so if PCs have the right one but make a mistake in working it out.

4) Did I miss the giving of the Cheliax Faction Mission? I see Taldor and GL, but nothing specified for Cheliax. Is this one they are supposed to know from season goals?

5) Why no deception points for avoiding Iliyana entirely?

Really looking forward to running this. I just wish I could do a James Earl Jones voice for The Guardian!

5 days away - still a few slots available.

Thanks Dr. Grecko and Turin. Any other thoughts out there?

I’m about to start playing in a RotRL campaign with an Elven Wizard, Void school specialist. I’ll probably be taking a few feats to boost my blasting (Spell Focus:Evo & Varisian Tattoo: Evo). That said, I want to remain versatile, and I’m debating whether or not to also take the Spellbinder archetype or just stick with arcane bond on a ring (we’re a group of 6 and we’ve decided that no one is going to take ACs or familiars or focus on summoning to keep things moving). I also plan on taking Fast Study at 5th and leaving a few slots open across the levels for on the spot fixes outside of combat.

I really like the idea of being able to cast ANY spell just when it’s needed, so I’m leaning arcane bond, but I’ve seen quite a bit of praise for Spellbinder. Having never played a wizard before, I’m curious to hear how people make use of Spellbinder. Do you convert spells in combat, or during downtime as needed?

Any thoughts on the choice and why you’d go one way or the other would be appreciated!

Another question: Can a sorcerer with the sylvan bloodline have a Totem Guide archetype AC? I ask b/c it gives access to some druid/ranger spells.

Bumping for consideration . . .

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

I have a question about the spells that appear as available for “All” on the elemental specialist lists (pp. 194-196 of APG).

First, the simpler question: If I am a Fire specialist, I clearly can use any of the spells noted as being for all elemental specialists (e.g., Resist Energy or Summon Monster or Elemental Body), but am I prohibited from a version tied to my opposition school? So, I could not summon a water elemental if a fire specialist, or get protection from cold? That would make sense to me, but I don’t see that in the text.

Second, and if the above is true, what happens if I am a Void specialist (from Dragon Empires Primer)? Do those “All” spells act as opposition spells, or only if using a version tied to my specific opposition element? For example, if water is my opposition, would the same restrictions as the Fire Elementalist above apply, or is any version of those spells oppositional? Hope that makes sense.

The reason polytheistic approach (or atheistic) won't work is that I'm taking the Ease of Faith trait. As I write that, I guess it doesn't inherently exclude the poly or atheistic approach, and in fact might work well with atheism, but more of an Ease of Lack of Faith. Thanks all.

Thanks James and SteelfireDragon.

James, you have just blown my mind: an alchemist modeled after the "protagonist" in Perfume. Brilliant! I guess that's why you have the job you have :)

Where could I find more info on Haagenti, beside the passing reference in ISWG?

Scarab Sages

What non-evil deity would an alchemist gravitate towards? Irori? Nethys? Torag?

I'm building a Tiefling Alchemist for PFS, and working on the backstory for him. I've looked through ISWG deity descriptions, am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for any suggestions.
