So I did this assuming every year will be like 2020 for Pathfinder and that Starfinder will maintain 50% output (and assume 50% sales) because data is fun. Does not account for PFS, SFS, accessories, etc., which would increase things by a bit more. Six hardcover Pathfinder books @ 20k ea = 120000
Total output: 287,500 Raising the cost of every product by $5 would be an increase in revenue of $1,437,500. We'll call it $1,500,000 after accessories and Society stuff. Paizo currently has roughly 80 employees. Increasing the cost of all products by $5 would allow Paizo to increase total compensation by $18,750, or about $9/hr. Paizo does have to pay some in payroll taxes on this, roughly 10%, so we could increase employee compensation by $17,000 instead to cover that, which would come out to roughly $8.17/hr increase. Maybe you don't want to increase PDFs as much, say maybe only a $2 rase for PDFs. APs would be $30 for print and $20 for PDF then, for example, which seems okay. That would increase revenue by $1,287,500. Again, we'll round up to $1,300,000 for accessories and Society. Doing the payroll tax dance again, that would be a raise of just under $15,000 (just under $7.21/hr raise). We can also do this the other way. IIRC, the last time I saw a CSR job posting, the posted wage was in the neighborhood of $16/hr (little more or a little less depending one experience etc). To get a 1 bedroom apartment in Redmond and the surrounding areas by yourself, you're looking at needing about $22/hr to get in the door (as most apartments want your pre-tax monthly income to be at least 2.5x rent). That's a $6/hr raise, or $12,480/yr. For you to get that post-payroll tax, Paizo would need to budget about $13,867 per employee. If we take that $6/hr raise (plus payroll tax) and apply it to every one of its approx. 80 employees, you'd need an increase in revenue of $1,109,360. That's a $3.86 / item increase. Now, I like $5 for books and $2 for PDFs coupled with the $6/hr raise, as Paizo can then bank the ~$400,000 difference to either hire a bit more workforce or just put it in a Vanguard account or something to cover COLA and seniority raises next time those come up. If I bought all the books, I would pay $150 more, which roughly 0.5% of the US median income. If I bought all the PDFs instead, I would pay $60 more, which is roughly 0.2% of the US median income. I think that's probably fine. ![]()

![]() Hello! Generally, the Pathfinder and Starfinder Wikis use cover images from official Paizo product pages. With the Player's Guides moving to direct-link and no longer having a store page, my reading of the CUP is that we won't be able to put the cover images of those products on the Wikis. No cover art (by itself) has been published on the blog either. Am I reading that right, that we'll have to skip out on covers for these books? Thanks, Cade Herrig ![]()

![]() That's the motivation I have behind trying to chronicle Paizo. So many of us currently involved in the hobby wouldn't be without Pathfinder. Paizo's particularly vital choice to release their rules set under the OGL (and the Compatibility Licenses) was so important to keeping the hobby moving during the early 2010s,and it allowed people like you and I who did not live in big towns or near gaming stores to keep experiencing the hobby. My first books might have been from Wizards, but my first games were with Paizo because of the online community. It's a story worth keeping track of. Beyond that, "Explore, Report, Cooperate" is only worth something if someone is keeping the archives back at base. ![]()

![]() So for the past year or so, I've been working on and off on compiling a history of Paizo from documentary evidence. The basic reason for this is that I have half a mind to eventually go back to grad school for an MLIS or history degree, but that's just a thought. I finally finished the first draft today and, while it's still pretty rough, the information is all there, and I figured someone here might find it interesting. It's long, though. Probably the longest single thing I've ever written. Feedback is dearly appreciated. I have it set up so anyone can comment. I do know that I need to better integrate the paper's central metaphor into the body of the text. I came up with the title and metaphor somewhere around page 13 and didn't go back to edit. I was also pretty lazy on the citations of most Paizo published works because I didn't have most of the materials in front of me. The product codes are therefore a stand-in for what will eventually be a full citation. The Golem of Redmond: A History of Paizo Thanks, Cade Herrig ![]()

![]() Hello again. It's been a slow few days at work. After throwing together the index of Paizo adventures and posting it up (thread here), I was having a chat with a friend of mine who's big on the Pathfinder Tales novels, and they mentioned that they'd appreciate a similar comprehensive clearing house for Paizo fiction. I tried to find everything as best I could, including the blog posts that aren't tagged super well, so with luck this shouldn't need too much adjustment. This particular index is indexed both by type of fiction and also by author so it can be used relatively easily both ways. Feel free to leave feedback / requests / suggestions. From a research standpoint, this whole index is an interesting reflection on the career of James L. Sutter, who we largely have to thank (along with Erik Mona) for the existence of freestanding fiction from Paizo. I did choose to omit the old Planet Stories line. If there's interest in that, I can include it as an appendix or something. Up to date as of today's Rachael Cruz flash fiction. Comprehensive Index of Paizo Fiction Thanks, Cade Herrig ![]()

I'm planning on keeping this more or less updated as things go on, so feel free to bookmark and refer back as you desire.
