Yeah its feeling abandon due to RL stuff which is understandable but a shame. This was a very ambitious to try to run a dungeon crawl in PBP as the format is very slow. We probably could have done everything in the PbP is 1-2 sessions of tabletop.

Yeaaah gonna say same since DM seems to have disappeared for a month.

Aye just waiting for DM to return.

"Well...at least we can use their bodies as food/bait for future monsters..." said Byung-He thoughtfully as he waited.

"Hit them with whatever it available?"

Sure but from the post it didn't seem like you were yelling thus my wanting to make sure the burden was on us to be in our posted spots rather then the DM having to adjudicate later in conflict.

Zurne since you were talking with people but your mini on the map was not in the same room with them I moved you. Please move your mini to where you want to be each post otherwise you might find yourself vastly out of position to act when DM locks in init.

Byung-He joins the others in the room as Zurne seems to as well. He shuts the other door behind them not wishing to get attacked from the other direction at the same time.

I specifically moved myself this morning because I thought we all were moving to the room I am in now based on posts...

Byung-He retreats into the room Zurne and Taanmohka were investigating rapidly not wishing to get caught by the rat swarm. "I'll heal any injuries that arise but someone else will need to fight!"

Hey after checking the map, I believe you got my mini and Zurne's mixed up Nairb.

I will not likely be able to post today but will squeeze it in if things find time. If everyone but Byung-He have posted by some miracle today then please bot himstaying back out of the way of things and looking for chances to heal. Sooo...probably nothing this round.

"I can make many types of medicine with herbs...so should we have a plan for when those rats come back. The arrows and smashing them with fists seemed particularly effective. I think staying spread out too would be good idea..." Byung-He mumbled unsure if his ideas were actually tactically sound as he could barely aim a crossbow and wildly flung his oil into the rats earlier hitting more out of luck and their bulk.

"I must confess...I used what limited I had on me but it seemed a worthy cause. If this is the only way forward we may not have much choice though."

Just waiting on Taanimohka's post before we continue since her and
Unbeugsam may take 0 damage if their AoO's kill the swarm. Looks like
Unbeugsam may have missed so its all on the monk now.

Will wait to see if the AoO kills em.

Grind grind grind the low level encounters XD

Byung-He tosses his other oil as everyone seemed to not notice that it was having a significant impact on the rats. His voice was tinged with scared frustration as he stated, "I hope I'm not the only one here capable of splashing rats with fire and oil!"

Ranged fire oil splash weapon attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
50% chance of fuse not working, low is bad: 1d100 ⇒ 82
Fire damage don't forget splash bonus: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Next turn should operate like alchemist fire for 1d6 more.

A moogle fell into the gears kupo. Likely just been taking the week to unclog them :D kupo. But for real, is there some real life stuff going on holding people from posting?

Byung-He prepares his second oil flask taking time to carefully insert the cloth fuse.

Cool well let us know what happens and we'll keep pushing this forward :)

Who are we still waiting on this round?

Copied here for DM and player convenience, you can look it up under equipment too.

A 1-pint flask of oil burns for 6 hours in a lantern or lamp. You can also use a flask of oil as a splash weapon. Use the rules for alchemist’s fire, except that it takes a fullround action to prepare a flask with a fuse. Once it is thrown, there is a 50% chance of the flask igniting successfully.

You can pour a pint of oil on the ground to cover an area 5 feet square, provided that the surface is smooth. If lit, the oil burns for 2 rounds and deals 1d3 points of fire damage to each creature in the area.

Just curious but do swarms not take extra damage from splash weapons?

Seeing no one listening as they all have their own ideas about how to deal with the rats he sighs and musters his courage. He can do this...they are just rats. Light the oil and hurl it... He hurled the fuse prepared oil at the rat swarm closest to the fire and door praying this would work.

Ranged fire oil splash weapon attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
50% chance of fuse not working, low is bad(if you need to reroll this dm go ahead, I did not look ahead on roll): 1d100 ⇒ 58
Fire damage direct hit and 1 fire to all within 5 feet: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Next turn should operate like alchemist fire for 1d6 more.

"Aim for the rats not the place they aren't occupying." Byung-He offers unhelpfully as he holds out his prepared flask for someone to grab and hurl at a swarm of rats.

I will continue to post whenever needed to keep moving things along my fine fellow players and DM! I can't do much in the way of combat but if I use my move and standard actions to hold a torch and prepare an oil flask can another player take it from me for throwing? So of I make the molotov cocktail and they toss em?

Byung-He pulls out one of his flasks of oil and prepares it for ignite/hurling.

Sooo...people should fix their positions on the map and then we can get back to it!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hard to chokepoint a swarm that can move into your squares but I think the making it so they have to come at us over the oil square which then gets lit up is tactically smarter then trying to stand in the middle of the room and fight them.

Yeah what doesn't make sense to me is the standing and fighting the rats in front of the choke point xD

Byung-He stays back and gets out an unlit torch ready to light it off another and then flail wildly with it if things come to that.

*Gives Nairb an Omega-3 shake*

*FBI invvestigating scene afterward* 'What if it was just one rat with six squeakers?'

Aw rats. Not a lot I can do here :D

Byung-He rummages a moment and pulls out his flint and steel passing them to Taanimohka. "Here you can have these."

Byung-He stays back trying to not get in the way of his companions and also making sure he is ready to retreat if they need to fall back behind a door.

"What does the note say?" Byung-He seems more curious in it then in the potential planar rats that might be watching them.

Byung-He hangs back as he watches the beasts die, glancing at the ceiling nervously. "Does anyone need healing or do we press on?"

Yes you are still in melee per the rules of the game. Its a on or off penalty based on if you are in melee with any foes.

*Byung-He folds his arms and looks at camera.*

Byung-He stays back not seeing any opportunity to heal yet.

Byung-He held back looking for a moment to act but not wanting his efforts to be wasted.

Holding his action until after enemies so he can use it ideally for needed healing.

Byung-He casts Guidance on Zordlon from where they both stand near the doorway. "Its not much but get in there and strike true if the moment is right!" Byung-He keeps back watching for where he will be needed.

Byung-He is completely horrified by the creature and seeing his ally rush in and he aims his crossbow at the thing but can hardly keep his hand from shaking he finally aims away with a gritted teeth. "I can't...I'm sorry I am no fighter." He quickly cast guidance on Taanimohka in his surprise round and then waited to see if he would be needed to heal in the next turn or to cast another small guidance.

Its not his fault he just has short legs XD

I feel like Byung-He would have trundled behind about 10 feet back from Zordlon, possibly around the corner of the doorway.

Byung-He remained outside the room and as Zordlon leaves to follow the blood trail he goes with him.

Byung-He looks at the others and frowns. "Why are we going into this dead end room again?"

Byung-He moves up 10 feet behind Zordlon ready to jump in as needed.
